    In the video, I said the X-T3 is $500 less than the X-Pro3 because the X-T3's price was $1299 on the day I made this video. It seems like it's back up to $1499.

      @@alozor13 ... okay. I thought Fujifilm confirmed a solid date for the future announcement. I'm well aware of the upcoming cameras, which the X-T3 successor is of interest to me... already have an X-T3... have an X-Pro3 now, too, but that's not going anywhere! I could see trading-in the X-T3 if the successor has some compelling features(other than it coming with "working" IBIS I'm hoping for improved EVF, at least LCD resolution update from X-Pro3, and shutter release improvement from either X-H1 or X-Pro3... it wouldn't hurt if they did titanium/Duratec as an option, but I'm afraid most would complain about its asking price).

      The XPro3 isn't exactly a Leica..I have one, it's a great piece of kit and I LOVE it. But it costs under $2000 USD which is very affordable.

    I flip down the screen and often use it like an old box camera. The camera itself I love because it reminds me of a Leica with no frills, big logos etc. It’s a pleasure to use in the street.

    I don't get why so many people even compare it to the X-T3 spec-wise and ask what it's point is, as you said the point/main feature is the optical viewfinder and a different shooting experience, and nobody should have a problem deciding between the two. I love the concept, but learned from my x100 that I don't actually ever use the optical viewfinder, so I know the X-Pro won't ever be my camera but I still like it a lot. About the screen, I also like the concept and if this was the only difference it wouldn't keep me from buying - actually I'd love to see it on an X-E body. Apart from the chimping, I'm often in situations where no back screen can be a plus, like small concerts etc. where I usually disable the back screen anyway to be more stealthy. Also, my Fujis are already often mistaken for film cameras by the security, no back screen would help me even more to get my camera into a concert without a photo pass. :)

    This is an interesting take on the X-Pro3 Hyun. As a point of correction, this camera is not a rangefinder. It only simulates a rangefinder with its OVF functionality. The only company making digital or mirrorless rangefinders is Leica. I have no particular interest in this camera. If I want Classic Negative, I can create a recipe on my camera to emulate it and it will work with raw output. My X-E3 does everything I need it to do as a street and travel camera. This camera is for those who one can afford it and want the latest and greatest Fujifilm has to offer in its X-Pro line.
    But when I think about the petty complaints I hear and read about this or any camera from any manufacturer my default response is, this camera is not for you. Simply don't buy it and move along. Photography has never been about the camera, it has always been about one's eye and ability to compose a shot to make great photographs. The camera and your lenses are nothing more than tools. Yes, we all want better tools but my question is, did you master using the one you have? In most cases, the answer is no.
    It seems to be en vogue to complain about everything these days. Maybe it's a generational thing but in my view, the X-Pro1 is still a perfectly good camera. So is the X-Pro2, X-H1, X-T2, X-E1, X-E2, and X-E2s. I see people making beautiful photos every day with these older cameras. If you want to become a better photographer, shoot every day as often as you can and review your work, critique your work, allow others to critique it as well. That's the only way to get better at what you do.
    If you think the tool is going to make you better, you're wrong and should take up another hobby or profession. To everyone reading this, I've shot Canon full-frame and APS-C as well as Panasonic LUMIX M43 professionally and eventually moved over to Fujifilm. Why you might ask because something about the design of their cameras makes me want to shoot both as my hobby and professional. I say use the camera that suits your style of shooting, perfect your craft and make great art. That's all that's needed of us as photographers.

    to me, this is the ultimate blend of work and lifestyle camera. It forces you to focus on taking pictures, where we've gotten used to just the process, but not experiencing what we're doing.
    On my dslr I used the top lcd display solely with my rear screen turned off and just getting used to knowing what settings work with the current lighting I'm in.
    Switching to a mirrorless I lost that top lcd display and were in need of some kind of screen to remember my settings, and slowly I got more and more used to chimping on the rear screen.
    I'll be getting this camera because I sense that it's one of those cameras that make you interested in photography again and not just tech.

    I borrowed and shot this camera for a day from Fuji's House of Photography London and I like it. My back ground was originally film and I've recently had my Leica M3 serviced and using it again. I've owned since the 80's when I was a professional re-toucher in London, the studio used Nikon SLR and Hasselblad, which where modern! so for personal use I bought the retro M3 (I would say it was more old fashioned then, than it is now thanks to scanning), I also had the M8, terrible screen and a Lumix G1 with the screen turned it for 3 years before I remembered it was there.. I am, you may of guessed not a chipper, to the point that I should do it more. I mis-set the minimum shutter speed flash sync on a X100S (it cycles full round the values whereas the on the M8 it stopped top or bottom, so I'd moved it past the fastest sync and ended up on the lowest at a wedding and when i got home the backgrounds where double shadowed and blurred. Anyhow, for me photography is a hobby now and whatever camera you have, once you add up the lenses, filters, bag etc it costs a lot of money. I have a tone of cheap stuff, house hold goods, vacuum cleaners, kids toys etc made in China. I have very little stuff made elsewhere, so it's also nice to have a Made in Japan camera, Made in Switzerland watch, Made in Germany car. Made in France Saxophone for the luxury things that I tend to keep for a long time. (watch 35 years, car 19, Saxophone 25). Is there a difference in quality, well there can be but not guaranteed. Does it perform better? in Fuji's case No.This camera performs exceptionally well and has a lot of personality, if it meets your photographic needs and you can afford it, it is something that you will take out and hold for no reason whatsoever. I'm probably the market their after. Its a shame the little pop up EVF window in the OVF used for showing focus point, exposure etc doesn't do the quick 0.5 sec review. I'm sure it could. Have you used that feature, it's good for manual focus. Finally as a PS, you have a great, honest and welcoming style. Well done.

    It's not always true though that you see "the image" just when you took it. Mostly what you see is going to be that image, but some components can change. For example if you stop down a lens to say f8, they camera will still use the widest available aperture for focusing and metering, so what you see in the evf is lots of bokeh, and on the final shot, that aspect will be different. Had a day when i thought i was taking some images with shallow dof, only to realise i had accidentally set the aperture and there was no bokeh on the images XD

    For a camera intended for street shooters and film nerds, alot of people like to forget that shooting waist level is incredibly common in those two demographics. Its less conspicuous and is super easy to do on the xpro3. Also any articulation is better than the static screen of the xe3 and xpro2. Amusingly enough, nobody complains about static screens, and those are by far more of a sin. The xpro3 is 100% going to be a cult camera as its one a kind, not all cameras need to be designed the same. Once i have the funds im super excited to buy an xpro3

    Cameras nowadays have more or less (not so distant) or similar imaging capabilities. Fujifilm has good or better imaging features. I'm a Nikon guy and owns a used Sony A6300 with only a 20mm 2.8 pancake attached to it. It's my go-getter camera before I set up my Nikons during photo shoots. I like the sturdy, sleek and minimalist design of Sony a6xxx cameras - specially the clean top plate with no protruding viewfinder on top. I'm scouting for a used a6600 with a good second-hand price. I just learned it has no built-in camera and the top plate is now firmer and cleaner.

For street, the fastest release comes with the camera in manual focus, but that's true of most cameras, and focus peaking makes manual focus a breeze. I think that Fuji put the emphasis on how the buying public can make best use of theirs product too theirs primary audience. Cameras in a way is just like buying a car. If you want a Certain make of car, it’s is there for you,if you want to pay the price. Everyone does not want or need a Mercedes been or Corvette to take the children to school when a Volkswagen will do the same thing. There's always a new camera imminent though. :)
      I think with the X-Pro line it's all down to the body, not the specs. I have both the Pro-3 and the X-T3 and I just prefer the X-Pro3's body. It fits really nice in the hand and it feels like it has such a low profile. I love the viewfinder too. The X-T3 is slightly more practical with its excellent battery grip and great for video, but I'm a stills shooter and the X-Pro3 can let you see more of the scene as you shoot owing to its range-finder style viewfinder. To be honest, now we've hit a certain tech level in cameras it's becoming less about the innards (nearly all cameras are capable of taking great photos) and more about ergonomics. Therefore even if the X-T4 outmatches the X-Pro3 from a specs standpoint, the X-Pro3 might still be the one to get for some people. From a price point the X-T3 is definitely the smarter option, and for those who don't care about an OVF or the range-finder experience I say definitely get that one instead, but the X-Pro3 definitely has a place.

    • @chrissoclone
      @chrissoclone 4 роки тому +1

      I guess because this camera is for a completely different audience. There's no point in comparing their specs, X-Pro3 is for people who like that concept, X-T3 is for those who don't and they're not made to compete with each other. If you're not into the optical viewfinder, there's no point in considering the X-Pro3 - that's still it's main feature and what makes it so much more expensive.

    I’m a portrait and headshot photographer and I use the XT3 and X100V. I was thinking about adding the XT4, but now I’m seriously considering an XPRO3 after falling for the X100.
    May I ask, do you think the XPRO3 is up to the task for paid portrait work (studio and natural light). I also sometimes photograph families and occasional live performances. Mostly paid portraits.
    Do you think that the XPRO3 could handle all of that?

    ...I love my PRO3 (and my old PRO1... and my 100...and my GFX S...)
    If I was a pro, it would be a pain to have to work with tools you hate...12+ hours a day... I am just an amateur...but I need a camera I like to enjoy my hobby...I need a camera I feel comfortable with...that produces files I like (I do not say "the best camera or the best files...") Good review, but every review on this camera misses one big feature of the flip screen...it gives you a waist-level viewfinder (like an old school Hasselblad medium format) for stealth shots. This is a purpose-driven design...a street photographer's camera!

    • @HyunRalphJeong
      @HyunRalphJeong  4 роки тому +1

      Thank you! I didn't think waist level shooting was something that needed to be explained since most cameras can do that nowadays but yes, it is very useful in that regard.

    • @NorthWoodsCountryBoy
      @NorthWoodsCountryBoy 4 роки тому

      Hyun Ralph Jeong Yeah, most cameras do allow for that, but the simple “flip down” design is faster and easier than it is to get the same view on an XT-3. Either way, it’s a quirky camera but I love it! Fuji really makes me want to go out and take photos all the time!

    Buying a Mercedes is not the smartest thing to do... Only if you're trying to buy a car and you're on a budget. Xpro3 is more like a Chrysler 300... A good car that kinda looks like a RR phantom, if you squint your eyes a bit...

      @Paul Jones: They lost you as a customer, but gained me as one. The fact that Fuji think differently is what has recently drawn me to their brand. I don't see their approach as arrogant or limiting. It feels like they are inviting the user to take photographs in a slower, more considered way. Plus, they make other designs with near-identical the specs for those who want a general purpose camera. They give us choice.
      I am interested to know how well the X-Pro3 is selling. I waited several months for a second-hand one but none became available in my area. So either they are selling very badly or people are buying them, liking them and keeping them. I had to cough up for a new one, but due to virus lockdown I have not yet put it properly to the test. I can't wait to break free...

    • @Muchtoobizy
      @Muchtoobizy 4 роки тому

      @Paul Jones You make some valid points, many of which I agree with; especially the remarkable lack of innovation in today's cameras. But I prefer not to dwell on these issues.
      My hobby/passion is primarily photography (not cameras). I will go out and buy the cameras and lenses that are closest to being the ones that a) I enjoy using, b) deliver the image quality I need and c) I can afford.
      My perfect camera will never exist. I just learn to live with whatever I end up buying and everything else is about creating images.

    Since this is a "pro" camera, I wish they offered options for the LCD screen to meet the needs of different photography styles. My choice would be a screen similar to what's on the x100v.

    I have yet to see a review of the XPro3 where the person doing the review "gets it." This one is certainly no different. I own one and love it but this camera isn't for everyone. Well, maybe it is, cause at the time of typing this you cannot buy an all-black XPro3 anywhere in North America. If you don't like the OVF, sub-display, fiddly exposure comp dial and hidden LCD then fuck off, the XPro3 is not for you. Go back to Sony. BTW who relies on raw files when shooting Fuji X series cameras? The jpegs are delicious, learn how to shoot the jpegs. Fuji didn't invest millions into film simulations so you could process raw files in LR lol. Go back to Sony if you wanna shoot raw. Dayum.

    I love Fuji mirrorless products and have the XPRO2, but I dont like the concept of the XPRO3 screen. I think the movable screen position is a hazard and can be damaged. The film screen is a gimmick. If the main screen would fold flat and show images, that might work.
    Strangely, nearly every reviewer has no issues with this model. In some ways Im glad it has the "flaw." Now I wont make an impulsive decision to upgrade my XPRO2.
