Hi GxAce, I watched your video, when suddenly, I heard a familiar song, Away... ! Haha, I wasn't expecting to hear my own song ; I subscribed to your beautiful channel a few months ago, I love your work. I am a retired photographer. I worked professionally for 42 years; 1976-2018. I made the transition to digital in 2008. I enjoyed both media very much. The ability to simulate a film stock is a great feature. I bought I used Nikon P310 that was a bit of a change from my 2008 DSLRs or other point and shoot cameras. It is not a range finder camera but it has wonderful manual features and a 1.8 lens. I find the discipline of this refreshing as an old film guy. I shot 6x6 for most of those early years, even a little 4x5. The act of "slowing down" with 4x5 really changed my work in a positive way. Good luck young man, though I think your skill will not need luck.
Im about 10 years behind you, Blads , rZ, Linhofs and leicas and im also looking for something that is a fun camera just for ME rather than my clients. This camera with a Kodak Hack TRIX and Kodachrome would be pretty cool.
the P300, P310 and finally P340 were my go-to cameras for the last 11 years or so. But the P340 finally died this year, when I could no longer bring it back to life following the "lens error" message by taking out the battery for a while. So I'm looking for something roughly similarly pocketable and good in low light that won't break the bank, I can't justify spending $2-300 on a used P340 when it might die soon too. currently leaning toward either Ricoh GR III or Sony RX 100 VA. The Ricoh doesn't have a flash but if i'm honest, i almost never use flash, even fill flash outdoors. The only flash I ever liked was the olympus F280 I used with my film SRL's back in the day.
Fuji is a company of craftsmen in a digital era and this camera is the proof of that. Awesome video as always the sound and visuals are always top notch !
This is probably the best camera review I've ever watched, artistic and informative and nothing seemed out of place the entire time (music, colors, images etc.). Great work.
I love this camera because Fuji made the decision to make a different camera instead of just launching cameras that are the same plus a couple of more features.
Amazing, had to rewatch the intro sequence straight away. Both cinematography and photos you presented throughout the review are magical. They have so much character and feel/aesthetic.
First off - production quality/value here is amazing. You've successfully woven all of the elements of filmmaking into a beautiful piece that feels like much more than a review. You've totally sold me on the xpro 3. I've been primarily shooting film for the past few years. I haven't found a digital camera that inspires me in the same way as my film gear. I'm hoping the xpro3 will fill that void. I've recently bought and returned three contax film cameras ((2) TVS II's and most recently a G2) all of which had major issues within a week... so now I'm like fuck it I need something reliable and inspiring in that same way. Thanks for this. Also - Which density Glimmer glass were you using for those shots? I use Black Pro Mist all the time for my cinema work and this seems like a similar effect. Cheers, Carl
Awesome! I'm glad you found the video! It definitely has the ability to inspire you to use it in a way most cameras do not. Its definitely pretty similar to BPM or even Hollywood Black Magic. I just happened to be on a commercial gig where we used Glimmer Glass and really liked it. Check out this comparison from Tiffen: ua-cam.com/video/rJacZa6QpJ8/v-deo.html
I love the idea of limiting the number of shots to the size of the SD card. What a great creative constraint, and probably a good way to explore more of the different film presets on this camera.
Hey, pro tip that maybe someone already told you or you know by now: you can choose and modify the film presets in Lightroom when importing or even during editing. They are the same profiles as the camera and are embeded in the RAW files.
They aren't the same, but they get pretty close. They are estimations of the film simulations created by adobe. Classic Neg. in particular is quite different from the in camera counterpart, espcially depending on the exposure settings.
@Matt M nobody will notice really unless you let them know in the captions. honestly shooting with a film camera simply satisfies the user for expressing their creativity beyond digital mirrorless cameras. i don't really see the point of mimicking film filters with digital mirrorless cameras especially if you personally don't 'enjoy' vintage camera colors. Thus concluding in the statement of "if you like it buy it, if not then don't". its a personal taste really and i do think its enjoyable.
gxace back at it again with the insane cyberpunk camera reviews. best visual/ audio design of any camera reviewer out there. You nail every single part of it with consistency. Amazing!
This is the most beautiful review I’ve ever seen. Agree about the interface! I’m a interaction designer, and the reason I went for Fujifilm was because of the modeless exposure interface (no PASM with modes behaving differently based on which mode). And I ended uo with the X-Pro2 in particular because of many of the reasons you give for the X-Pro3. The release of X-Pro3 actually inspired me to turn off the back LCD a lot of the time and give the OVF I used to ignore a second chance (now I use it 90% of the time). Regarding the OVF, I don’t see how it can’t be seen as anything but a downgrade. This perspective you say your prefer would probably be easily replicatable with the X-Pro2, but not the other way around. Tho, I guess unless you like to shoot wide with the OVF maybe it doesn’t matter. Anyway, thanks for this wonderful review.
Thank you so much! Seriously, the interface of a camera is super important, and I think there could be more innovation in that area. Yeah the lack of being able to shoot my 16mm on the OVF isn't actually too big of a deal since the lens is so large anyway that it covers a lot of the viewfinder.
@@GxAce have to agree - with my 35mm on the Pro-2 i use the OVF and with my 16mm i use the EVF, otherwise i find myself "searching around" the OVF with my eyes to compose because most of the frame is used up
I don't usually comment on UA-cam, I wanted to encourage you that this is probably one of the best camera reviews I have ever watched. I have been a long time lover of the aesthetics and heart of photography and film. I too fell in love with the Xpro series and for the past year have been been enjoying a Leica MD262 for the same reasons that makes this Xpro3 so relevant. I appreciate you insight and love for this camera. There is hope for photography in the future after all.
Your videos make me nostalgic for the film era even though I've never shot in my adult life with film. These gorgeous photos you've taken just have that feel and it isn't just the film sim because it's also a matter of composition to bring that look and feel back. Thank you for a wonderful video!
@@GxAce Every cameratuber should aspire to create something so uniquely formatted and whole. Your reviews are a good watch even a few years later since you're not only talking about the camera but the philosophy behind its design. That is applicable to any age.
WOW. This video, these images, and your words all impress me. The analysis and understanding of industry trends, and the technological progression was enlightening. In a world of incredibly perfect tools, its those with limitations and imperfections which will stand out and truly allow for love of the tool. I am now trying to figure out what I need to do to up my game from an X100F to this. The "film back" screen, the image quality, the simplicity of the filter. This is awesome and I appreciate the time, and effort it took you to make this. Thanks
Splendid. I really appreciate the atmosphere of the video and the overall content. You have me so curious about the FUji XPro3 now!. And great photos too
Awesome video, and I have to say, I had the same approach (with a different camera) of getting small SD cards to only hold 36 exposures! Just like old times, the creative framework makes you really try harder. You have really great sample photos as well.
I'm not sure if the specified lenses in the description are relevant for the photos so I'll ask just to be sure. What lenses did you use taking the photos and what strength of Tiffen Glimmer Glass did you use?
Loved the video, I have the xpro3 and have just ordered a couple of glimmerglass filters from tiffen after seeing your images. Do you have a website gallery of your China trip where you used the filter? Would love to see the whole series of shots. Thanks
Great video! My only disappointment with the camera is the missing magnification for the optical viewfinder. It pretty much limits lens selection to the 23mm, 27mm, 35 mm, and to a lesser degree the 50mm. I appreciate the flexibility that the X-Pro 2 offers.
i've been shooting film exclusively the past 5 years, and moving into the digital realm has been daunting to say the least. i'd been exploring all the fujifilm mirrorless cameras as my blueprints for a camera, and this review helped solidify my choice. thank you so much for such a comprehensive and encompassing review. definitely helped guide my terrified film-shooter nerves. definitely didn't help my bank account though o___o
Imo Classic Negative is amazing, but the biggest drawback of Fuji's film sims - because it's the only one that actually makes a big difference. BTW, at least with C1, you can apply the film sims to RAWs in post and if you shot in e.g. Classic Negative, it's automatically apply it to the RAW.
Great review! As someone who uses an XT2, I love how you reconciled the decisions made by Fujifilm. The camera shows a lot of character in its mature design and so does your review. :)
I severely doubt that any camera that costs £1,500+ is going to "save photography", whatever that means. No one buys cameras for paint jobs or gimmicky designs - OK, maybe Mac users.
I want really want to sell my Sony A7 and get an X-Pro now! (Oh the GAS …) Would you mind sharing which strength of Glimmerglass filter you used for these astounding photographs? Much ❤ from a new follower!
You always overexpose a stop on color neg film for a denser neg giving you more latitude in your printing especially with 120 film. This camera doesn't have an 35 mm sensor which is a drawback for me.
Hi there! I've watched this video probably 5 times in the last year. Finally, I bought an XPro-3 after trying out the Fuji way of photography with the x100v. Your video is the best advertising Fuji could wish for. I generally like your cinematic videos and it is so much more fun to look at them because you actually take good photos that are fun to see. Thank you for your work!
I've read and watched A LOT of reviews of the X-Pro3 but I can wholeheartedly say this is hands down still the best one. You understand the ethos and mentality to whom this camera appeals to. A street photographer's dream. From a proud X100V owner.
Save photography? Outrageous claim. Because it looks like a 1950s rangefinder? Because it simulates film? Why? Film is obsolete. Film was hopelessly grainy, and the colors were in no way superior to digital! Digital photography is superior in every single way!
Great info video. New Subscriber. If you're shooting high, holding the camera high to get a group shot, can you tilt the screen to see it when the camera is higher up than your head? Or is it only useful when holding the camera waste or lower?
Okay I was doubting to get it or not, but you convinced me! What I love the most about the X-Pro1 is the film camera feeling, and I purely use it with manual lenses. I was just doubting about the X-Pro3 because of the screen design, but you make some very good points. Also great review and video style 👍 will be watching more of your videos
The hate is coming from people who think they need a flip out screen for vlogging. hahah. This screen design is really an amazing feature of the X-Pro3
This is typical hipster hyperbole. "Let's pretend we've gone back in time to either 90's digital beginnings or film cameras because retro is so cool". Pretending it's a film camera is a novelty, not a savior of photography. What actually is saving photography is computational cell phone photography. It's may not save the camera industry, which is a different conversation, but more people are taking photo's in general because of the phone. And you are correct that cameras don't need to look like they do now, but they certainly don't need to look like film cameras when they are not, they need to not pretend humans have lego people hands that can hold a gripless rectangle. Form need to follow function, not tradition. Better user experiences might help save the camera industry, but I am not sure playing pretend is that grail of an experience. Catching up to the user experience one gets from a phone camera, with a better UI, better connectivity, better, customization, better 3rd party apps, better post processing, etc., will save cameras, which is moving forward, not back. And guess what, that includes taking pictures without a viewfinder, very novel indeed.
Dude I can’t get over how well you’ve recreated the downtown-Coruscant and Millenium Falcon looks [apparently] without the use of VFX or CGI. Obsessed with the vibe in your videos. You look like a straight up pilot in a starship during your talking heads which is so sick.
Gimmick or not, the emulated film grain gives the images a lot of character, and, to me, also a lot of memories. If you can stick to this style most, or all of the time, I can see why you're delighted. I have several bags full of film cameras, and I've been planning to shoot a roll or two just for fun, but so far couldn't find time to do it. Anyway, have a lot of fun!
i recently purchased an xpro3. for someone who's been shooting from a hasselblad 500cm, i love the experience the xpro3 brings to the digital format. It doesnt just simulate the film look with film sims but it also simiulates the film experience with the flip LCD just like when you shoot a 500cm using the overhead viewfinder. I love the grain in your pictures and I think I will include as little grain in my shots from now on.
Key note here, in Lightroom there is a setting to bring in the JPG formats with Fuji. This way you don't have to process the RAW. Those presets are in the profiles portion of the sliders. A drop down somewhere in there will allow you to use them
This is one of the most amazing videos I have seen on UA-cam in a while. Beyond just a simple review for an eccentric camera, it felt like an ethereal love story about your intimate experience with it, and looked the part too. Amazing cinematography, and photography, and writing, and I really felt like I was watching a short film of sorts. Thank you for this wondrous experience.
Anyone who grew up shooting 1970s film SLRs will love this camera. The OVF is amazing, the hidden LCD is where it should be, hidden. The shutter has a satisfying snap to it. The film simulations are awesome as well. Love mine, can't put it down.
@@anthonyperalta2506 It takes very normal, "modern" photographs. What you're seeing here are all presets except for the one shot where he shows the modifiers turned off.
I love this review, thank you. I have been torn between choosing the X100V or XE4 as I just never find myself taking my Canon 5D out with me anymore. After watching this review I am torn again, and really don’t know what to do. What a camera, what a review, thank you!
Great video, agree with so much of what you say and I would so love to own a black X-Pro3 but I am probably twice your age and the ability to hold a camera steady left me a little while ago. Because of the still features I want I have bought an X-T4 for the ibis and larger battery plus all the internal specs of the two latest ‘Classic negative’ bodies. I use my 4 with the screen hidden most of the time as the flippy screen means nothing to me. The ergonomics of the new body, for me, are unbelievable fantastic but had the X-Pro 3 been fitted with ibis it would have been my choice. Thanks for coming back to us. Love your videos. Inspirational.
Thank you so much for taking the time to comment! I can fully understand the difficulty of using certain cameras. I was actually born with a disability that causes me not to be able to bend any of my fingers, so finding cameras that I can easily use is sometimes a struggle. That's partially the reason that I've gravitated towards Fuji, since their bodies and lenses are generally smaller. The X-T4 actually was the opposite for me since they made it a bit thicker, but it's still manageable. I always use soft release shutter buttons that screw into the thread on the camera shutter and this makes take steadier shots much easier. Perhaps you should look into it. Thanks again for watching and I'm glad you enjoy my videos!
I care what the pictures I take look like. I couldn't care less what the camera looks like but I'm not a gearhead. These are gimmicks that help the manufacturer sell the camera to the gearheads. Thanks to cell phones people take more pictures than ever before so both photography and video are doing just fine. They are the best cameras because, as the saying goes, the best camera is the one you have with you.
IMO it’s a waaaay overpriced X-Pro2. Yeah the Pro2 lacks classic neg but otherwise it’s 99% of the Pro3 at a 60% price. And the whole film-like experience is just BS. You can switch off the screen on the Pro2 or just simply go and shoot film if you want a film-like experience (or a true film experience). And I’m a Fuji guy. And I shoot film too. Mostly film...
I dont have the willpower to not constantly turn the screen back on so I find this hidden screen forces me to use it in that way. I also don't think this camera should be viewed as a replacement for the X-Pro2 but a different line entirely. They are just two different type of cameras.
Interesting comment and some truth in what you say including the "film" comments. Have you tried the X-Pro3, X100V or the X-T4? I have used all four of the X-T series and most of the others including the X-Pro2 which I love. However now been using the X-T4 with the latest software, which is currently not being implemented on the X-Pro2, X100F or X-T3, and it is quite surprising to see the differences in Auto-focus, Colour rendition, (apparent) dynamic range. When I bought the X-T4 for the ibis (shaky old hands) and bigger battery, I was amazed at the results though my 16-80. If you have a chance to try one of these latest models let me know whether you see what I have seen? Had I not bought the X-T4 I was going to sell my X-T3 and buy an X-T1 body to go with my X-Pro2 as I love the results of the older senso but I chose to upgrade and I feel I have a completely new camera which excels the X-T3. Maybe I am going senile but I have been taking pictures for nearly 60 years (35mm 6x4.5, 6x6, 6x7, 6x9, 5"x7" etc). The X-T4 is the best camera I have ever used. I believe the X-Pro3 will give the same satisfaction except for the battery life. If you are in to videography like my grandson who has is own business you will love the "two" cameras in one and the separate menus and extra features in the XT4. Let me know when you have managed to have a play with one of these new Fuji bodies.
GxAce it’s the successor of the Pro2 so I can’t view it as not being a replacement for it. For me a tilting screen doesn’t make that much of a difference to regard it as a whole other camera. Also all other functions are basically the same. I hope though that it drives you to shoot film though, there’s really no digital that comes close to the experience and the results. Classic neg looks fantastic for sure though, I totally see your points there.
Gary Manning thanks for the detailed comment. I’m perfectly fine with the Pro2’s capabilities as far as AF and colour science goes. I mostly shoot b/w though and I’m into documentary and street photography mostly so it’s more than enough, I’m not drawn towards the latest tech. Shutter has just been replaced in it, hopefully the whole camera will last until the new shutter dies again and I’ll be fine with it.
I have the X-Pro2 and I tried turning the screen off, problem is that _sometimes_ I do need it when shooting down. Going through all the view modes (there are like 4) and arriving at the correct one is super tedious, so I just leave it on. Additionally: the only times I use the back LCD screen is when taking photos from low, so it would be great if the screen flipped out. So the X-Pro3 solves both those problems in one go for me. (Not that I can't get it, I can't afford it currently, but probably going to save for it.)
@@GxAce Great review as always, video production quality was top-notch. XPro3 images looked noisy to me (however others may prefer it, as film-grain-like), ... but your comparison of Fuji with Contax-G Electronic RF ... rather than Leica's Mechanical RF ... was spot on ... (it's a mistake which Fuji reviewers/users commonly make). Also, please let us know, what Leica or Zeiss/Voigtlander/7Artisans lenses do you use on your M9 ? ... i have watched your videos on GFX100, Anamorphic: Hasselblad H6D 100c, 7Artisan 28mm 1.4 & 50mm f1.1 I have M10-P *white* limited edition + 50mm f/1.4 summilux. Thanks, Warm Regards from India.
For the prize of that thing you can buy 4 hasselblads and 1000 miles of film... This review doesn't make sense... I agree with liking different choices from camera manufacturers but if what you want is film, be honest and be kind to the real thing and the effort it takes to use it and help analog to survive.
I am suprised that person with this attitude towards cameras is missing Ricoh GR. Ricoh is basically definition of revolt against status quo of how cameras are made today.
I Iove this review as much as my own x pro 3. Would you mind sharing your classic neg. settings? I would love to know how you tweaked it. Anyways great review!🙃✋🏻
Just tell me that you came from the future to shot this picture 0:50, because what the hell is going on there, why is there some cables attached to her head?
I was blown away when I saw that and was pretty nervous taking the pic. I walked by and didnt take it but forced myself to come back because it was too cool. Its a hair perm machine. Apparently they are pretty common in China, because my Chinese friend wasn't impressed hahahah
For those that own this or the x100V I'm curious which one you guys prefer? I agree, it would be cool to see an X100V with the unique LCD from the Xpro3
Totally agree with this... I have a sony a7mii as my main camera (mainly portraits works) and decided to have a go on x100f, i was shocked the second i saw what the film simulation is capable of... It became my everyday camera running simulating portra 400 pretty much all time! Btw what strength did you use on the glimerglass filter? Is it 1/2 or 1/4? Wanna give it a try
Long term review?? Really for a gadget that was announced ~10 months ago? Really this is a long term already? I know you got to earn your keep, but seriously? For any professional out there long term means ~3-5 years, ~200k on a shutter or so... With the gear that does not get updated each year, which means that is designed to last longer.... Now you are reviewing the consumer product that costs nearly the same as a professional grade gear, and in this time and age where each year brings so much advancement in to the processors and other components of the camera. I mean this camera in Europe cost ~1700 euros... Is it worth spending that amount of money on a camera which only distinguish itself from the others by the in camera filter that mimics the film look? I mean you can do the same with any camera in post processing. If only it was Full frame, then it might have a chance of gaining a huge market share from Canon or Sony. Now the Fuji is falling behind further and further just like the Olympus did and lost it, went bankrupt not so long ago... And its pretty much the same, they sold m4/3 sensor cameras for the wooping 2k-2.5k $ that is a robbery, not to mention the lenses... Look at the new R6 (New RP is like ~980$.... ) for the moment its 2,5k FF body with everything you would ever want to have and a huge lenses pool RF and EF likewise... You put a cheap 50mm 1,8f manual focus lens on it and you get as much bokeh in your portraits as you would ever get with your Fuji and 1,2f lens on it... That my friend is a price difference between 30$ and a 300+$ and guess what, you load your images in the PS LR or any free postprocessing software and you can push leaps and bounds more from that RAW or make it in to a cinematic image whatever... I wouldn`t write a comment like this if the products were actually prices adequate, but in this price range... Cmon... Its not Leica and even if it were, I wouldnt buy it, or any professional would buy it, because they know its limitations...
I love all the photos. Classic neg has such a nice nostalgic feel and you really used that to your advantage. Do you you the film sim as is or do you tweak the recipe?
Yes it does! I've since tweaked it slightly to protect highlights more, but for the shots in the video its set to default with the two color chrome effects set to high and the grain set to strong and large.
The hidden screen punishes you so you become a better photographer, is he serious? If this bucketload of nonsense is an indication of how a camera can save my photography then I'm lost forever.

Now try taking it into a dark place, sticking it in a can and pouring smelly chemicals on it (all in the dark)......That makes it really old school.
You have wifi/bt sd cards that can just upload to cloud so not really a constraint
Hey, pro tip that maybe someone already told you or you know by now: you can choose and modify the film presets in Lightroom when importing or even during editing. They are the same profiles as the camera and are embeded in the RAW files.
Not if we use an old version of Lightroom :-(
They aren't the same, but they get pretty close.
Pro tip here . adobe are evil and a monopoly
gxace back at it again with the insane cyberpunk camera reviews. best visual/ audio design of any camera reviewer out there. You nail every single part of it with consistency. Amazing!
Thank you so much! You are far too kind :)
That blade runner vibe on the first pictures : WOW.
I’m glad you liked them! I’m a pretty big fan of sci-fi if you couldn’t tell... hahah
Aye! He is back! Back again!!
AYE! Its good to be back ;)
Goddamn the production quality of these reviews , its like watching a movie its an experience well done
Thank you so much. Its amazing hearing comments like these. :)
@@GxAce have to agree - with my 35mm on the Pro-2 i use the OVF and with my 16mm i use the EVF, otherwise i find myself "searching around" the OVF with my eyes to compose because most of the frame is used up
Dang! Watching this video tells me I picked the wrong week to give up drugs.
Whoops!
Wow that’s really awesome of you to say. Thank you so much!
@@GxAce Every cameratuber should aspire to create something so uniquely formatted and whole. Your reviews are a good watch even a few years later since you're not only talking about the camera but the philosophy behind its design. That is applicable to any age.
The only review video I rush to watch as soon as the notification pops up❤️
Hope you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
Thanks
Thank you so much! I know a tool is just a tool, but once you've used a very well made tool, its hard to go back to inferior ones ;)
Splendid. I really appreciate the atmosphere of the video and the overall content. You have me so curious about the FUji XPro3 now!. And great photos too
Thanks a ton!
Awesome video, and I have to say, I had the same approach (with a different camera) of getting small SD cards to only hold 36 exposures! Just like old times, the creative framework makes you really try harder. You have really great sample photos as well.
Thanks so much for the comment! Yeah it’s really fun to artificially limit yourself at times ;)
I'm not sure if the specified lenses in the description are relevant for the photos so I'll ask just to be sure. What lenses did you use taking the photos and what strength of Tiffen Glimmer Glass did you use?
Thanks for asking, because you are correct! I used the 16mm 1.4, 23mm 1.4 and Zeiss Touit 32mm 1.8 for all of the photos. The Glimmer Glass was a #1
Loved the video, I have the xpro3 and have just ordered a couple of glimmerglass filters from tiffen after seeing your images.
Yeah that was a bit annoying considering I like the 16mm lens a lot.
i've been shooting film exclusively the past 5 years, and moving into the digital realm has been daunting to say the least. i'd been exploring all the fujifilm mirrorless cameras as my blueprints for a camera, and this review helped solidify my choice. thank you so much for such a comprehensive and encompassing review. definitely helped guide my terrified film-shooter nerves.
definitely didn't help my bank account though o___o
How are you enjoying your new Fuji camera?
Imo Classic Negative is amazing, but the biggest drawback of Fuji's film sims - because it's the only one that actually makes a big difference.
BTW, at least with C1, you can apply the film sims to RAWs in post and if you shot in e.g. Classic Negative, it's automatically apply it to the RAW.
I really enjoy my pro3. Bought it specifically because it was so different. Didnt disappoint.
That’s awesome! I think it’s worth buying because it’s different
The Clickbait that will SAVE photography.
No really I'm serious.
Thanks for the comment and helping to push my video out to more people!
Damn dude, awesome edit! I'm getting a 90's anime feel watching this. Keep up the great up visuals. Now I'm off to go buy some glimmerglass.
That is quite the compliment! Thanks! DO ITTT :)
I want really want to sell my Sony A7 and get an X-Pro now! (Oh the GAS …)
Would you mind sharing which strength of Glimmerglass filter you used for these astounding photographs?
Much ❤ from a new follower!
Anytime I’m watching your content, I felt like I’m going to get this one. Man you’re leading the wave . Keep rising the cyberpunk era.
Please send my apologies to your wallet. Thank you so much! Hopefully my channel will get even more cyberpunk in the near future ;)
Why spend circa £1700 on another electronic gizmo ????? Just buy a classic film camera for less than £100 and use errrr, film.
Didn’t watch the video I take it then?
@@GxAce 😆
Man, you live inside "Ghost in the Shell" movie.
If only that were true!
Thank you so much Austin! This is actually hilariously low budget and all practical :). I’m glad you dig the vibe ;)
The Epson RD-1 had analog features years before this camera.
Absolutely! I have a video about that camera on my channel!
Were all these photos in Classic Neg? Amazing review btw
Most of them! All of them during the section where I was talking about it definitely were. Thanks for watching!
Fujifilm are you listening? Please update my X-E3 through a firmware update with classic negative!
But who's flying the TIE fighter while you film this?
Autopilot.
@GxAce Have you seen the droids in Star Wars? 😅
i recently purchased an xpro3. for someone who's been shooting from a hasselblad 500cm, i love the experience the xpro3 brings to the digital format. It doesnt just simulate the film look with film sims but it also simiulates the film experience with the flip LCD just like when you shoot a 500cm using the overhead viewfinder. I love the grain in your pictures and I think I will include as little grain in my shots from now on.
Would be a good thing if ALL cameras were the same. Then the photograph is down to the photographer.
This camera and review are memorable! 👏🏻 I have an Xpro3 and the way colors shift due to overexposing is pure magic!!! I just use the jpgs 👌🏻
After all said and done , some people need image stabilization…like old people with shaky hands😊
Key note here, in Lightroom there is a setting to bring in the JPG formats with Fuji. This way you don't have to process the RAW. Those presets are in the profiles portion of the sliders. A drop down somewhere in there will allow you to use them
Shit, you sold me on the xt3 and now you just sold me on the xpro 3
Tell your wallet I’m so sorry.
You're going to get me into trouble - I'm now thinking I need an X-Pro 3. Great video, thank you.
Whoops! Send my apologies to your wallet.
That review felt like watching a Sci-Fi Movie
This is one of the most amazing videos I have seen on UA-cam in a while. Beyond just a simple review for an eccentric camera, it felt like an ethereal love story about your intimate experience with it, and looked the part too. Amazing cinematography, and photography, and writing, and I really felt like I was watching a short film of sorts. Thank you for this wondrous experience.
Why do you look like you are on the bridge of the Millenium Falcon :D???
Anyone who grew up shooting 1970s film SLRs will love this camera. The OVF is amazing, the hidden LCD is where it should be, hidden. The shutter has a satisfying snap to it. The film simulations are awesome as well. Love mine, can't put it down.
Aside from film simulations, does this camera have modern style camera quality features? Or is everything about this camera a digital film sim?
@@anthonyperalta2506 It takes very normal, "modern" photographs. What you're seeing here are all presets except for the one shot where he shows the modifiers turned off.
I love this review, thank you. I have been torn between choosing the X100V or XE4 as I just never find myself taking my Canon 5D out with me anymore.
After watching this review I am torn again, and really don’t know what to do.
What a camera, what a review, thank you!
Glad to see you return from the future to upload another video! This is some seriously awesome content, keep it up!
"Gotta get back, back to the past, Samurai Jack." Thank you so much for watching! It's good to be back!
If I had the money I would buy this with the 23mm f/2 and store away my other gear for a while.
It’s a great combo ;)
We all know you intentionaly talk with a croac voice
Yeah I love croac voices
How is it holding up? Any long term thought? Aging like wine or nah?
Nikon, Panasonic, Canon, etc: our cameras do everything!!! Fuji: here’s that camera you loved in 2005 only digital. You’re welcome.
Sounds about right.
Personally I care about both. I enjoy the experience of using a camera to make images.
Xpro 3 is nice but the M10 or A7 seris just pumps out better images.
Definitely debatable ;)
@@GxAce Great review as always, video production quality was top-notch. XPro3 images looked noisy to me (however others may prefer it, as film-grain-like), ... but your comparison of Fuji with Contax-G Electronic RF ... rather than Leica's Mechanical RF ... was spot on ... (it's a mistake which Fuji reviewers/users commonly make). Also, please let us know, what Leica or Zeiss/Voigtlander/7Artisans lenses do you use on your M9 ? ... i have watched your videos on GFX100, Anamorphic: Hasselblad H6D 100c, 7Artisan 28mm 1.4 & 50mm f1.1
I have M10-P *white* limited edition + 50mm f/1.4 summilux. Thanks, Warm Regards from India.
@@chirag4 nice
For the prize of that thing you can buy 4 hasselblads and 1000 miles of film... This review doesn't make sense... I agree with liking different choices from camera manufacturers but if what you want is film, be honest and be kind to the real thing and the effort it takes to use it and help analog to survive.
I do my part to keep analog alive ;). Just sometimes it’s more convenient to shoot digital and have a similar experience.
Amazing review thank you for sharing your thoughts . I have been thinking of going back to Fuji system again.
You should! They are definitely the most interesting cameras out there to me! Thanks for watching!
I am suprised that person with this attitude towards cameras is missing Ricoh GR. Ricoh is basically definition of revolt against status quo of how cameras are made today.
I hate how it looks. It looks like a super cheap point and shoot from 2007.
Your photos are insanely grainy. Are you shooting at ISO 12800 without considering the light condition? Not a big fan.
I shoot auto iso and don’t care about noise. I also add film grain to pretty much all of my photos. RIP
Man! You and @Vuhlandes have made a complete beginner want this camera! I don’t think I can justify the price though.
Why are you talking like that? forcing yourself to sound deep/bassy lol
Nice review tho
Oh is that what I was doing?
Modern version of Torture - being forced to watch unstoppable ads. before you can see the video.
It’s like that scene from A Clockwork Orange.
Photography does not need saving, from cellphones or otherwise; it's alive and well.
Spot on!
the screen is just a cons...
I Iove this review as much as my own x pro 3. Would you mind sharing your classic neg. settings? I would love to know how you tweaked it. Anyways great review!🙃✋🏻
Thanks!! I use both color chrome effects on strong and grain on strong and large. I also generally shoot with 400% DR
I sold my x100v to go back to the Xpro3
does it ever get to how this camera will SAVE photography? LOL!
Indeed it does
Its like a fake Leica but better.
Indeed. I have an M9, and I think its way better than that.
Seems like a lot of words to say it’s not a camera for you ;P
Agree. 1700 for crop consumer film gimmick when you can have full frame nikon for less
Do you live in China? Since most of your photos looks like being taken in China.
Nope! I just visit often! I usually go to 宁波
Im gonna flip my screen back on my M50 to enjoy puriest photography.

@@GxAce haha!
Was about to ask about grain size! How about additional stuff like clarity or d range priority? Thanks for sharing regardless!
GxAce thanks for the response! Looking forward to getting my xt4 soon and seein any future work you put out!
The hidden screen punishes you so you become a better photographer, is he serious? If this bucketload of nonsense is an indication of how a camera can save my photography then I'm lost forever.
To me it makes the camera more fun and makes me want to use it. The more you use your camera the better you get at photography. Pretty simple ;)
