If you are paying $120 a month for Netflix, the cost of the car is the least of your problems.
We went from $19.00 a month to $100.00 a month in record breaking speed.
Sales tax gets you. Oregon has no sales tax, and you don't get to pump gas.
There are some Self-Serve gas stations here in Oregon...
It is that new math. 😂😂🤪🤪
It’s less than $2500 for two years, paid up front or over time like any other lease (but for much less money); the catch is that someone else (tax payers) are paying for it. So it isn’t that it is too good to be true, it’s that you are acting as a mafioso and just making other people pay for your ride.
It’s a sweet deal if you don’t mind screwing others over.
@@Cloud30000other people are paying for the incentives regardless of who leases these cars. So why not lease it yourself if it fits your needs/lifestyle and you can save money from it?
Americans, you have no idea how lucky you are. I know you are not doing great economically but are better off than most. I live somewhere in Eurasia, I am studying engineering and would love to have a four-wheel car no matter how old it is.
It's 100 to 120 bucks a month - I don't know where in Eurasia you live, but that sort of price isn't that special. I see 99 EUR/month ads almost every day, sometimes even lower.
Oh don't worry they will pay for it in electricity bill and pay taxes out of the nose!
Get your engineering degree and start a good career. You will be fine for the rest of your life. Come to America someday and visit or live!
I am an an American, I drive a built in 1997 Nissan Sunny
America is doing great economically
The craziest part to me is that they are only estimating 30% depreciation over two years, when many EV’s are seeing 50% after just a year. I suspect that many lease companies are going to be taking a bath when these leases are turned in and are worth much less than the lease payments cover.
Get ready for a flood of unpurchased, two year old Nissan Leafs in 2026, after the 24-month lease is up! 😂
I’ll take one! May be ready to trade up from my 2014 Leaf by then
💡 *dealer fee was $699, they sell 50 leafs a month like the saleperson said, dealership making $35000/mth just on dealer fees*
Probably covers half the monthly rent for the property the dealership sits on.
And they get the car back in 2 years 699 in more desler fees

I think if you want to try an electric car.. and if you merely want a car to commute to and from school and or work.. and to run around town and not necessarily take long road trips.. then that is an amazing deal.. I also feel that if dealerships want to gain more comsumer interest in the ev industry / market.. then this is a great deal to offer.
Thanks! We also have the only lifetime warranty in the state
It sounds like a good deal, but electric vehicles are crap. More expensive to insure, costs more to repair at a body shop, higher registration price, takes too long to charge, ECT. Not for me.
@@michaelm3381 It’s all good. We need holdouts during the transition.
Well said. A low risk way to see what all this EV fuss is about.
Just like that, dealer magic and you're caught in a contract with a car you don't really want.
The StealerShip Magic!
That’s fine! When the contracts up I’ll be glad to take it
tynans ran out on the colors we wanted and then they ran out, so now we are waiting for a silver one coming in the next 2 weeks. Out the door 117 per month, 0 down 2 year lease, 10,000 miles per year and we can buy 10cents per mile extra if we buy online before the last payment is due. Car is comfortable and quick. Not bad to try out an EV.
im more amazed 3 drinks at starbucks is more than $19
I guess that is one way to clear those other-wise hard to sell Leafs of a lot.
Going to be hard selling them when they turn them back after the lease is over though lol.
@@atmartens its probably going to one of those dealer auctions after
@atmartens It's okay. The dealership made its money already. Whoever is funding the lease will deal with the car value after the lease. There's also a fee to turn the car in.
Not a fan of Nissan, but this could be a great deal for some folks.
Good video, interesting what's out there. Take a drink every time they say "taxes and fees"!!
So, you're renting the car for a 2 year period, for ~$120/month.
Yes ⭐. That's what leasing is.
Leasing is not renting.
You're paying your the value% the vehicle will lose over the years miles you have it. Manufacturer is guessing a bit as to what they think the vehicle will lose in value.
@@thoughtloop1737 You can call it whatever you want. You pay to use a car without owning it.
@@-POISON-Yeap, rent, lease…..all about the same.
If you have a bank loan, you are also paying to use a vehicle you don’t own.
Did you know you can flip a car you are leasing? Sell it after 6 months if the value has gone up, pay the difference to the leasing company like any bank loan, and keep the rest as profit. Many people do this at the end of their lease for vehicles that depreciated less than the lease estimated to get some money back from it.
A few years back my buddy leased a Chevy Malibu for $110/month tax included with a true zero down. Incredible deal
Anytime a dealership has an offer that seems top good to be true, IT IS.
I can confirm that I used to sell cars and it always is. I even don't know what the catch is but it is
This is an exceptional deal, cheap EV+federal and local tax incentives that can be assigned to the lessor+manufacturer rebates = incredibly small net capitalized cost. I’m sure you’d have to pay the tax and dealer fees but you’d still be looking at leasing a brand new car for $2k down and less than $100/month
True if you pay all of the dealer fees, etc. up front, but most people don’t do that. So the $19.00 per month quickly increases.
It’s less than $2500 over two years; the catch is that someone else (tax payers) are paying for it. So it isn’t that it is too good to be true, it’s that you are acting as a mafioso and just making other people pay for your ride.
It’s a sweet deal if you don’t mind screwing others over.
The government incentives you for electric cars. Saw good lease deals with Toyota on their website. The catch is, gas cars go longer. Replacing the batteries on an EV can get very expensive and other things we may not know of, but nothing to do with the dealership. Now if the dealer screws you, then that's separate from the government incentives I would assume.
Thanks for the explanation of how the leasing works. Very educational.
How much does it cost to turn the vehicle back in at the end of the lease? Many dealers charge extra fees at the end of the lease. Nissan may charge a fee also.
Good question. I believe I paid a nominal $250 fee when I turned my 2013 Leaf SV in at the end of my two year lease.
I drive 22 miles each way to and from work. Realistically speaking I could plug this in every night on 110 and not worry about it. However just my daily commute is almost 12K per year
12K per year for what? Electricity? Sorry, I don’t get it
@@th3m3du54 12K miles.
@@th3m3du5412k miles; basically, the lease wouldn’t even cover the commute (limited to 10k miles) without extra fees, let alone non-commute driving.
It may still be worth it depending on the fees for the extra miles, since the base cost is so ridiculously cheap with the tax payers eating the majority of the cost.
@@Cloud30000 thanks for explaining, now it seems obvious! (: I think you will be better off with a used car in that case.
I had the same quandary with my 2013 leased Leaf. It all balanced out as I also had a 2006 Prius as my dog hauler to keep the Leaf clean. It worked out to where I was just 50 miles under the max limit when I turned in my Leaf
If that was Illinois.... lol. Saw similar deals off and on throughout the years when older cars needed to be moved or when new manufacturers came in. Rare but does happen.
I know technically it's correct to say, "That's a lot of Leafs" when referring to the car named "Leaf", but that was a prime opportunity to say "That's a lot of Leaves"... I'll show myself out.
And please do it as expeditiously as possible🤪
@@man_on_wheelz Luckily, you didn't leave it unsaid.

So basically, we the taxpayers are paying for so much of those vehicles.
Just like you pay for the tax incentives given to oil companies.
@@mowcowbell I'd rather give tax breaks to people buying cars than to oil companies!
Wait until you find out you pay even more on taxes to give cuts to billionaire stadium owners, oil companies, corn syrup, gas companies, etc, etc...
@@Omar-et7sb I've know that for quite some time. I also know that on the federal level, our taxes don't fund anything - government is funded first, then we're taxed. And our taxes don't pay for anything. They're just a way to give value to the currency and to control the money supply.
@@mowcowbellthat's not how it works at all.
Why are tax payers paying for corporate incentives so people can drive cheaper EV’s and with no benefits to us who don’t need a new car? So car companies and the gov can make money.
For the same reason that oil and gas companies have been given enormous incentives for decades. If you think the price of gasoline is actually $3.75/gallon (current average), then you are woefully uninformed. Take that corporate welfare away from ExxonMobil, Chevron, etc and consumers would be paying $5, 6 or even 7/gallon or more. But American consumers don't want to hear the truth - they rather pay more in other taxes just so their gasoline prices are artificially lower than they would if oil companies didn't get corporate incentives.
That’s crazy! Thx for sharing Tommy! Cheers Kirk
Love your video ideas. keep it up Tommy.
Be careful. We leased a leaf and Nissan refused to let us sell it early to a 3rd party dealer. Their own dealer network only give $22k where any other 3rd party was $26k. They kept telling me it was their policy but my lease agreement said otherwise. After 3 months or so Nissan finally accepted the dealers check and handed over the title. It was a battle.. And to be clear - the lease agreement was very clear about early buyout which was not restricted to only Nissan dealers. This was 2021
Every company does that once they aren’t selling you a vehicle anymore and are just trying to low-ball you, whether it is a lease turn in or a vehicle you bought from them outright and want to sell back. It’s something you have to expect and be ready for when leasing any vehicle that depreciates less than the leasing company estimated.
Not a bad deal if you need a second car for city commuters.
Awesome video Tommy..have ever thought of an A-11 Checker Cab for the TFL Classics channel?? Enjoy the day Tommy
I couldn't believe that car has a MSRP for 30K, what a rip off. This deal for Colorado is good though, just as a city daily commuter.
A model 3 is only a few thousand more and can actually drive on long trips
Tommy I have a 2012 leaf with 7 kWh left so this is great. And you don’t need to worry about the battery you turn it in. I hate to hear reviewers poop on cars that are great for what they are used for. You.can drive it to work and that would is cheep. Who cares if it has chademo they are still around my state has lots of. You drive too many other cars to appreciate this car.
The buyout is the killer. I owned a 2011 Leaf SL. It was a great car for what it was. A commuter car and local grocery getter. After 65,600 miles, I only had 46% battery health. So I traded it in on a PHEV.
Also, in 2015, I leased a Smart Electric Drive for $108 a month for 3 years, the buyout was $18,890. TFL had one they sold for about 8k years ago.
The Leaf is a good car, drawbacks are the ChadeMo and the air cooling in hot weather.
I drive 120 miles a day which is why I drive a Kia Niro plug in hybrid. In theee years have 123k miles, going for 300k.
Not hating but there's a reason kias warrantee has always been 100k you will soon find out..... Other companies offer less but last much longer reliably (Honda , Toyota)

@@Carfan678 Okay, So maybe if you buy three large, or "Grande" fancy drinks, and one of those crummy desserts. haha
Thanks for sharing this info Tommy. Last time I saw leases this low was back in 2010. I leased a Jeep Commander for $129 a month. I think it was around $1500 due at signing too. Sad thing is my Commander spent as much time at the dealership fixing electrical gremlins, a/c problems, and transmission issues as it did in my garage. Great price for an awful vehicle. These Leafs though look like a pretty good commuter car.
Can’t speak for the second gen but my first gen Leaf is still going strong 10 years later on the original battery
Bottom line: It’s not $19 per month. Most dealership seem incapable of honesty.
I saw the news, then saw their ad, then saw and watched your video. This concept (Yes. Use the dealer with the best deal for you.) could help a lot of people drive electric... yeah
It's a Nissan Leaf, you would have to give me the car for free and pay me a lot more than $19 a month to even consider it. I would just buy a cheap old car. It would still cost more than this leaf but I would have a better vehicle.
What is the interest, because this is all sales tactic to get you into the car barely paying down the principal, then you are back to bank rates for the next 5 to 7 years, whatever it take to get the car paid off. It is all to lure you in to buy the car, then pay interest
If you buy the car at the expiration of the lease you're making a horrible decision. You aren't buying anything, you're paying 30% of the value of the car to use it for two years. At the end you can return the car or buy it. The purchase price is the 70% you didn't pay. So you lease another car and then they sell the lease return as a used car.
You don't buy this at the end of the lease period. You give it back to Nissan and walk away.
It’s fun to find this crazy deals from time to time, I was able too get in on the old Fiat 500e for only $99 a month including tax and zero down, also Toyota’s lease deal on their “Scion” iQ, with similar monthly payments. Cool little video 🤗
Great series Tommy
There will be a lot of Nissan Leaf owners competing for that 1 CHAdeMO charger.
You can get an adaptor, but at that point it will be so slow that you might as well charge from the closest free outlet you can find.
They go wild with that Nissan in the Northeast, too. I think specifically NJ has insane leases for them? I just got $340/mo for 24/12k on a $52,825 vehicle in PA, which was not easy. But I'm really happy about it. Love the car, and $340/mo is a really small % of my income, so I feel like I'm being frugal and got something cool at the same time.
What car did you get?
Just imagine paying 340 bucks a month for a car you don't own and thinking you made a great deal 😂
@@xBris Total cost of ownership for 24 months, leasing vs financing vs cash, isn't even close in this case. This is basic math, and you don't even have all of the variables (like credit for buying PHEV that was only available via lease). I want to be snarky and mean to you, because you deserve it, but the truth is you're just not going to get poor people to understand topics based around money. Watch Tommy's video again, he tried really hard to get you to understand how leasing can be financially advantageous in certain scenarios.
@@hhohajz Dodge Hornet R/T Plus. I think it's hilarious, it's a total fraud. It's straightforwardly an Alfa. It's built in Italy, for God's sake! It has AWD, is relatively quick (for what it is), has 30+ miles range in electric mode, has great audio, ventilated seats, heated steering wheel, lots of dorky gimmicks which I like, etc. Total cost of the lease is less than $9,000, 9% tax included. I also get to have it when the battery is at its very best. So yeah, I'm actually happy to have this weird, fake Dodge for a couple years.
You also gave up the ability to claim any EV tax credits on your personal taxes to get that deal. The current Hornet lease incentive in PA is $9500, and surrendering the EV tax credit is part of the deal. Alfa Romeo is currently offering a $7500 lease incentive on the identical Tonale...which also stipulates the buyer can't claim the credit.
Hey if I was getting my kid a car to drive... and wanted no headaches with a used car this would be great. Puts a limit on how far they can really go It's cheap and connects to all their toys...ie phones etc... As far as everyone crying about a dealer fee, no one is forcing you to buy a car, and if you can do it cheaper open your own dealership it is not the gold mine everyone thinks they are....
This is a good video idea Tommy and should be helpful to those that haul ass there and jump on this offer. I'd do it if I lived there just didn't jump into a 3$90 a month Nissan nicely loaded Rogue lease, 1st month paid in advance, no tax, no extra fees,10k year mileage, 3 years free service oil change, tire rotate and inspections.
I love how he says "State of Colorado State funded tax credit." The tax credit is funded by the Colorado tax payers, not the "State of Colorado."
Its a good way to get people to try out EV's, other companies should be doing this with their EV offerings.
You mean losing money?
The gotcha will be the residual value and the mileage. Lots of leases require you to pay the difference between the turn in appraisal and the stated residual....plus lots of money for every mile over the allowed per year.
Nissan also gets a big boost to its CAFE standards and they can sell more Frontiers, Rogues, etc.
20,000 Miles in 2 years isn't much, but then again $19 a month.
I drove 21,000 miles in my car in 8 months. I like my Mitsubishi Mirage. (: The Leaf is also nice!
All the good lease deals I see advertised are 10k deals. If you want more miles, then the lease price goes up, but they won't advertise how much. That's where the dealership can apply its bag of tricks to separate you from more of your money. If not, the 25 cent per mile overage will get you at the end.
You could lease two of them 😉
(assuming rebates still apply)
This is best as a second vehicle anyway, so you can always just budget your miles accordingly. This likely won’t fair well with long trips, so that alone will reduce the miles on it.
@@foxtrotwolf608125 Cents a mile is quite a lot! That is about $25 a day in over mile fees for me.
I seriously thought that Tommy was going to say it was so tempting i leases one! To good of a real to pass up!! Overall a great deal for a starter car or a daily driver to go to and from work!
Then the dealership will find every ding and scrap and charge you extra at the end of the lease
And they won't fix it or disclose the damage to the next buyer, lol
You pay someone to repair them before turning it in, but if you get a lot of dings and scrapes after two years, you are probably better off buying used.
Shame Nathan is moving.
Can't say i agree with taxpayer money subsidizing cars for people though; not at this point. Prime the pump when new...maybe, barley. But at this point f 'em

Sorry, even at that price I have no use for such a limited use vehicle. I’m sure the majority of people in Colorado hate subsidizing these things too. Government manipulation of markets is frustrating and without it no one would be talking about electric cars.
whats the residual on this deal?
Seems so nice when they fail to include all txes and fees.
Dang I thought my lease deal at $170 per month on an SV+ that I got last October was good. This is the PERFECT commuter car if your commute is about 40-50 miles per day or less. A few other things to think about:
1. If you are trading from a gas car to this, you absolutely will save more than the $19 per month on fuel savings. So it ends up being cheaper than free in that case. If you own a truck or SUV with poor fuel economy that you are commuting in now, keep that for long trips and get this to commute. It literally pays you money in that case.
2. On mine, maintenance was included. Just did the 5000 mile service and it cost me $0
3. in two years these will all be turned in and the market will be flooded with good used ones for CHEAP. So if you like it you might be able to buy a different one outright at that time (Just don't buy yours out, the residual will be laughably high).
Not sponsored, but that dealership was very friendly to you to make that video with NFL and shout out themselves... Free self promotion to a lot of eyeballs.
It's $19.00/month for a vehicle that really isn't fit for purpose. Sure, during the week you driving to work and home. Maybe some groceries.
But what about the weekend when you want to get away? Tiny range, outdated charging technology. Honestly I think Nissan has had to do this to move the old outdated stock.
I pay less than $65/month for the my 2020 Model Y with full coverage...
Tax credit…….that means everyone is paying for that vehicle. The old saying is there is no free lunch. Somebody is paying. New math……$19.00 per month really = $100.00 per month.

Nissan is also leasing a lot of the Aryas to the people who work at Nissan dealerships for very low price. Zero down and couple hundred bucks a month just to clear inventory
Its $105 per month, not 19.
Right?
Yeah plus insurance and registration
If you pay tax and fees up front it is $19 per month. If you roll that money into the lease payment you get the $100+ per month.
For most people I am sure. Who is going to pay all of the fees and taxes upfront?
@@garretlewis4103that’s the norm in most states when you lease. Most people expect to throw a couple grand down whenever they go to lease something. This deal is insane.
