I read that he also used copal reisin, especialy for transparent glazes. Rubens also, Brueghel too, and almost all the northern painters from that period(Marc Havel is the author).

Thank you for sharing this video, Nic. I believe certain edited parts were omitted, leading to a loss in translation, 3:23 in the original video, ua-cam.com/video/r2wB22T_3is/v-deo.html. I do not believe in a "secret medium of the old masters"; rather, I believe artists such as Rembrandt used particular combinations of pigments and materials to create unique and peculiar effects that enabled them to express their artistic vision. It is likely that my comments were misinterpreted, as a comprehensive understanding of the manufacturing of lead pigments-especially stack lead-is crucial to comprehend the context of my conversation with Cesar Cordova. The manufacture of lead white was far from precise in Rembrandt's era; the length of exposure to acetic vapors and other conditions determined the quality of the lead white, and the quality and treatment of linseed oil had an immense effect when mixed with stack lead white. Rembrandt's technique, as well as that of many other masters, was developed as an integrated system. The works of the old masters should be viewed as three-dimensional objects instead of flat paintings, and to comprehend the techniques used by these great artists, it is essential to analyze every aspect of the work, amalgamating science, history, and experience to form an informed guess.
