Francesco Paoli is the drummer on this song, he's one of the founding members of the band. Originally he was the lead guitarist, but they needed a drummer so he learned drums, at the point of recording this album he's been playing drums for about 2-3 years. He's considered one of the best drummers in extreme metal. Sadly, Francesco is back on guitar and has taken over lead vocals as well since the departure of their lead singer/lead guitarist.
Francesco Ferrini does the orchestration for the band and does piano, and yes for live shows they have a big piano on stage that he plays, its awesome.
Fleshgod Apocalypse is one helluva unique band, i've seen them lives several times. Some song recommendations from them "The Forsaking" "Minotaur" "Pathfinder" "The Fool" and "Thru Our Scars"

@@nonono7973 Never really liked Francesco as a drummer. I know it's not his main thing, and that was pretty obvious in their live performances. Extremely sloppy playing. Eugene isn't quite up to Francesco's top speed just yet but his playing is much cleaner.

    • @BaerndXP
      @BaerndXP Рік тому +7

When Francesco announced that he'll leave the drum throne I first was like "what the fuck? He can't!" and then "How will they replace them? I mean there's only one drummer in the world who could fill in, that hard working ukranian guy with the violation drum cover, but they never will...." And they did. And I was like "YES!". Eugene is the perfect match for this job and fleshgod in their current lineup are just insanely awesome. Could'nt be better.

There are several things that need mentioning
    1) This is a Mozart Cover song (his Symphony No 40 in G minor)
    2) There is a long symphonic introduction to this track in the previous song ending.
    3) They are a great band on Nuclear Blast Records (the best and most popular Metal label worldwide).
    4) They are from Italy
    5) There is a music video for this track
    6) The high pitch vocals are a homage to Vortex from Dimmu Borgir (that did the same thing in the 2000s). Fleshgod Apocalypse later replaced it with a female Soprano singer.
    7) Their later albums Veleno and King have the original songs and also the same ones as instrumentals and with a plain symphony (no Metal added).
    8) Their first album is not symphonic at all. This track is from their second album.
    9) This band really loves Classical music.
10 They have not put out a new album in about 4 years.

So my first exposure to this band was live; they were supporting Wintersun on tour. It was a small ass bar venue, and for the band setup, they had to haul an upright piano through the side door and up on to the stage (luckily just a section of floor a few inches higher than the rest) and a few of us were asked to assist with the piano carry...then they melted our faces with this song as the opener

This has been very much anticipated, finally, thank you! Fleshgod is an amazing band, i'm certain there have been plenty of people expanding on the band, i'll just say that they have a multitude of amazing tracks to listen to, for a variety of reasons:
The oppression, from agony, amazingly time-shifty fills
The egoism, from agony, an amazing track throughout
The first 3 songs from their mafia ep are all amazing
The betrayal, from agony, a drumming nightmare, an awesome track
And the vulture beholds, from king, amazingly epic orchestration
Towards the sun, from labyrinth, amazing orchestration, again
Epilogue, from labyrinth, showcases veronica more prominently
In honour of reason, from oracles, heavy as all hell
Pathfinder, from labyrinth, a great composition throughout. Although to be honest the entire labyrinth album should be listened to from start to finish
In all honesty i could recommend everything from them, but as a more unusual suggestion i would also say that you should check out their title songs for each album; oracles, mafia, agony, labyrinth, king and veleno. Each of them is a classical piano composition meant to embody the atmosphere and theme of each album.

the violation is a certifiable classic but in terms of writing and production they've come miles since this album! have a listen to Fury and Carniverous Lamb from the Veleno album, genuinely one of my favourite albums of all time!

Saw Fleshgod Apocalypse live in a bar of all places, headlining for Carach Angren and Abigail Williams, right around the time of their King album release. Actually went to see Carach Angren, which is a band you should check out (preferably 2008-2012 releases), who put on the best performance show in my opinion but dang did FA fill that venue with sound. King isn’t their best album in my opinion, but that didn’t even cross my mind at the time. Great stuff.

It’s a slightly different sound, but I’d highly recommend “Ultima Hypocrita” by Mental Cruelty. It has one of the greatest guitar solos I’ve ever heard.

Someone may correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think Fleshgod has ever recorded with live strings/orchestra. Hopefully they can make that happen someday. It’s also worth checking out photos of their stage outfits and consider how they can shred the way they do.

If you want a bit of a newer Fleshgod song I'd recommend "The Fool" (2016, studio version). If you want one of their most recent songs Sugar would be the one. I got to see them live this summer, the sound was completely scuffed (festival's fault) but I remember when the groovy/heavy verse of healing through war kicked in... magic.
