"Wake up" . When I used to have a tinge of depression, and would spiral into those dark thoughts, laying in bed in the morning, dark thoughts looping, paralyzing, I'd use the phrase "wake up" to snap out of it. It wasn't some general call to love myself, to not be so hard on myself... it was a simple command that I had conditioned myself to obey as soon as I thought/said it. Once I realized what I was doing, which honestly could take a bit of time, the thought "wake up" would come through, and I'd snap out of it, shut off my brain, and get up. Same thing if I was in a bar, suddenly found myself feeling down after a few too many drinks, starting to spiral into my own thoughts, my own self consciousness and depression, I'd think "wake up" and snap myself out of it. Get out of the dark dream state, anxiety, and re-take control over my body and emotions. Consider how much I had drank. Realize I needed to start drinking water or coffee and get control of myself. Seems like Aurora's using it in a similar way, but is also using it to imply a greater goal in life, possibly because that's just her slant on the phrase or something she does after breaking out of these dark cycle, or maybe for the sake of making the song more emotionally grandiose. She does sing about others experiences, but in this case, I don't know if she'd understand the significance of this unless she's gone through it herself. I imagine a lot of people have. Maybe a lot of people have used the "wake up" phrase trigger to combat this. I don't necessarily think using the phrase to generate meaning is important. For example, she's also adopted her sister's phrase a few times now of something like, "existing is hard, If you make it through the day, then you've already succeeded". Sometimes getting out of your dark thoughts and allowing yourself to get through the day is enough, and if you do this enough, eventually the meaning will come. The last thing you want to do is get stuck in those dark thoughts for an extended period of time, spiraling.

more, more, more. she recently posted a short unreleased named 'heaven'. 'silhouettes' drum patterns are a bit similar to kate bush 'running up the hill'.
That "Heaven" song is genuinely amazing. I wasn't expecting it to be _that_ good....the melody is gorgeous. Especially the notes she chooses on the words "in blue" and "and I felt." I wonder if she ever recorded a demo version of it. If so...I really hope we see that soon. That small short she released online has, across IG, TT, and YT.....already had at least a million views. People clearly loved it.
She gave/sold/licensed the music from "Silhouettes" to Chinese singer/songwriter Hua Chenyu, who wrote new lyrics and released it as "Escape from Utopia" on Dec 18th 2015. Dutch DJ "San Holo" used the vocal track from "The Sun" and made an EDM song "Bring Back The Color" which was released on June 2nd 2023 as "San Holo - Bring Back the Color (ft. Aurora)" It was definitely a live version of "All My Demons" you heard, there are several live videos as well which the audio was taken from. All are audience recordings but some of them decent quality. There is a studio version as well, just search for it: Aurora All My Demons studio version on channel "Shangela Laquifa Warrior" for example.

It's probably my single favorite Aurora song for all sorts of reasons. Now I just hope you actually....like it lol. Especially after how much I built it up. >_

I also love Big Blue, a 2016ish demo that's a joyful shoegazey burst of light. And Silent Violence, a 2018ish heavy tribal Arabic tinged EDM banger. It's kinda cool tho how prolific she is. 😁
Nice. :) On many days it's my single favorite Aurora song she's ever made. If nothing else, it's absolutely in my top 5. I don't get how she could write a song _that_ good....and then just keep it hidden. I'm honestly glad they leaked. I know some people balk at leaking...but I was a kid in the 90s/early 00s where burning CDs of rare stuff from your favorite artists was absolutely the norm. I had so many bootlegged CDs of unreleased Tool and Janes Addiction and Smashing Pumpkins songs and concerts lol...
