- In honor of the Biotope Aquarium Contest deadline being extended, we have been showing you habitat features for the past few Wild Fish Fridays. These are longer videos showing habitat features, and also including some of the fish. This was some beautiful angelfish habitat at Igarape Puxurituba, and these Rio Negro Altum Angels are stunning! Want to see this beautiful habitat for yourself? Join us on an expedition, you can also enter the Biotope Aquarium contest (www.biotopeaquariumproject.com) through August 15!

I love this new format with longer videos, thanks a lot for sharing with us the wonderful natural habitats of our favorite fish. I absolutely love all the fish in this video and I have them all as part of my aquarium inhabitants! Angelfish, Mesonautas and the Heckellis are all gorgeous!
This is what I'm talking about! I used to snorkel with newts and salamanders, looked EXACTLY like this! Good stuff!
You should swim with Corydoras next!
Thank you for bringing us along!
Thank you so much. Beautiful fish indeed.
I'd love to see some of the weird angelfish.
Thanks for helping to conserve their habitat.
What a wonderful encounter 😢
Thank you for this video!!
Great video!
Nice video 💪🏻💪🏻 Love my angel fish 🐠
Good job!!!
Terima kasih video ikan angelfish di habitat aslinya..sangat bagus dan keren 😊
wow that's a dream land under water ❤
Thanks, could watch for hours.
Are you sure there are Altums shown in this video?
I don´t think so.
Glad you like the videos! We had this checked by an expert. Angelfish get weird in the Rio Demini, and the expert was certain that they are albums.
Good one
Very nice. Thanks for the measurements and the amazing images. Where exactly in the Rio Negro?
Puxurituba is near Barcelos, but actually on the Rio Demini, which is a tributary of the Rio Negro.
@@projectpiaba Thanks very much! Always get to see images like that. Amazing!
I love the video.
Mesonauta species and angelfish are so beautiful. I wonder how warm the water is?
Well, I forgot to bring the separate thermometer this day and didn't calibrate the one on the pH meter, best guess is that it was similar to other more open habitats in the low 80's F
❤❤❤❤
Those are not real "Altum" angelfish, they are P.scalare but they call this variety as Peru Altum... But they are not...
That's right, the Altum comes from the Orinoco side rivers and also looks different
Altums are found in the Rio Negro. These fish in this video aren't altums.
"Peru-Altum" are located in "Rio Nanay system" and have nothing to do with altum..
The angels in this nice video imho are Pt. scalare. Not altum and not Peru-Altum.
Very beautiful and high body Pt. scalare, here.
Form of angels depends on nutrition. Prof. Geisler showed this on VDA symposium, Fulda, Germany, mid of 1990s.
Heiko Bleher showed that the more you go up the Rio Negro, the angels look more and more like altums.
Prof. Geisler showed, after Rio Branco(white water) disembogues to the Negro, habitus of Angels changes because of richer nutritioned food, due to more water nutrion.
@@cwb-aqua-profiagree, also if they are showing red as mentioned in the narration they are not any Altum that I’m familiar with…
Silence is not a friend of an American. They just love the sound of their own voice 😮
