Girly!! If you're trying wine for the first time, a Michelin star restaurant is probably not the place, just since they have a curated list of dry wines that require an evolved palette! I always compare wine to coffee - you need to grow & develop your palette to like it. I'd recommend starting with a sweet wine, like a pink zinfandel, and over time you will grow to like less sweet wines (similar to how when many start with coffee, they use lots of sugar/creamer, and over time lessen up on the sweeteners). This is coming from someone who worked at a fine wine boutique & education center for many years and had to grow to like dry wine herself. Now I LOVE it... what a treat once in a while!

I’ve always loved mixing and matching and creating an entire vibe. My daughter is EXACTLY the same. I remember pouring over my new Vogue as slowly as possible. Ok, I had to come back to this after visiting NYC for the first time. I remember this but for some reason still was also surprised to come across this mall on accident after seeing the memorial en route to the subway, & had the same exact reaction when I saw the Westfield sign. I was like wait, why is this feeling very deja vu?😂

I went to Ellis Island back in '99 but the ferry still looks the same. The twin Towers were still there...There is plenty of exciting things to see in NYC that's for sure.
Oh goodness for your first wine? Chardonnay or Moscato or even white Zinfandel probably would have been better. Sauvignon Blanc is for sure one you have to drink a few times to get a taste for. But super fun, right?
Yes I'm so surprised that her family recommended Savignon Blanc to her! I'm from Marlborough NZ and it even took me a few years to start enjoying a glass of Sav 😆

If you are still into trying out wine red is way different than white. There is also sweet wines that are fruity and flowery , they are my favorite wines. You got to do two of the things I go to do on my only time in N.Y I seen ground zero which was still a mess when I was there. It was not long after it happened and there was a memorial wall with all kinds of things not just flowers, very sad. The second thing is we took the boat to see the Island and the statue from central park. Wish it was wormer for you as the scenery from the outside of the boat was wonderful. Glad you had fun while there. I wish I could do what you are doing and get to see more of the world that's what I always wanted to do. I am what my family calls a rolling stone.

When you said in your last vlog that you were going to try a New Zealand sav I was like 'nooooooo' as someone who loves it, it took a while to get used to the taste. It's so different to 'regular wine' I feel like you are trying alcohol as part of your explorative phase. It's also nice to have a glass of wine with dinner. You could try low alcohol wine. It's usually 5%. That might taste less 'chemically' 💗

I think wine really is an acquired taste but kind of like coffee- once you start to be able to pick up on certain notes of crisp fruit in whites and deep berries and chocolate in certain reds… you can find joy in the taste and slow sipping nature of wines… And have fun pretending to be a coffee critic by day and wine snob by night. Recommendation! There’s a red at Trader Joe’s called MoonX or something like that and it’s like 8 bucks and so smooth. Split with Jordy on a cool fall night trust me :) Also a glass of Prosecco with a really nice fish taco is my fav way to spend a Friday with my husband so recommend that too. Your vlogs bring me so much peace and joy I should comment more often I clearly have a lot to say lol have a good rest of your weekend 💛🍂

A $40 glass of wine at a fancy restaurant is def going to be an acquired taste. I no longer drinks. But it took several years of my 20s to develop my tastebuds. I eventually became a whiskey/scotch girl and really liked sour beer and more bitter cocktails. I was def a cocktail/alcohol snob before I stopped drinking. I hope she gives at least one nice fruity cocktail a try!

Most New Yorkers are walking around by themselves on the streets, subways, it’s even common to see people eating alone, or sitting alone on park benches. You’ll blend in no one will even notice. I used to travel to nyc by myself in my 20s and I live here now in my 30s for the last 7 years and treat myself to solo dates all the time. I never feel alone or out of place, in fact, just the opposite.

Lol my first wine was reisling. Pear flavored. Sweeter but more like a juice. Way better first bite than sauv blanc or champagne haha. The food looked amazing though... what was your favorite bite at the Michelin resto?
The green dress is so pretty on you! You may prefer a sweet mixed drink. The only wine I like is Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling. It is sweet and smooth, not having that strong alcohol taste. It was recommended to me by fellow mom when I said I didn't like wine, and they were right. I do like that one, and only one I've ever liked after trying many types.
as someone who doesn't enjoy many alcoholic beverages I recommend staying away from herby drinks. fruit drinks are usually delicious. rum is better as a base than vodka. and hard cider is the only "beer" I can tolerate to drink lol.

I had a similar experience to wine. I hated it because I was raised Catholic and had to take it with Communion and thought it was disgusting. Tried it again at 21, still hated it. But once you start going to a bunch of weddings you get to try a variety of different types of wine. At 28, I like white wine now but don’t go out of my way to get it usually only at events and parties :P

Lol my first wine was reisling. Pear flavored. Sweeter but more like a juice. Way better first bite than sauv blanc or champagne haha. The food looked amazing though... what was your favorite bite at the Michelin resto?
The green dress is so pretty on you! You may prefer a sweet mixed drink. The only wine I like is Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling. It is sweet and smooth, not having that strong alcohol taste. It was recommended to me by fellow mom when I said I didn't like wine, and they were right. I do like that one, and only one I've ever liked after trying many types.

as someone who doesn't enjoy many alcoholic beverages I recommend staying away from herby drinks. fruit drinks are usually delicious. rum is better as a base than vodka. and hard cider is the only "beer" I can tolerate to drink lol.
Whistles is a brand ive seen in the UK..... you see Queen Elizabeth's granddaughters wearing it all the time along with Princess Catherine

I had a similar experience to wine. I hated it because I was raised Catholic and had to take it with Communion and thought it was disgusting. Tried it again at 21, still hated it. But once you start going to a bunch of weddings you get to try a variety of different types of wine. At 28, I like white wine now but don’t go out of my way to get it usually only at events and parties :P
