  • I've produced four chapters from my 'Cruising The Trent Severn Waterway' production that was originally released in 2015 as a 72 minute long DVD/Blu ray combo package. The full presentation takes viewers from 'Mile Zero' at Trenton on Lake Ontario, through the entire 240 miles/386 km right up to Lock #45 at Port Severn where the system meets Georgian Bay/Lake Huron. Best part is that a good deal was filmed right from our boat as we cruised the area aboard our Sea Ray 400 Sedan Bridge. Most of the footage was taken in 2014, with an update of Trent Port Marina at Trenton, captured in 2019 (Chapter One).
At the time, the disks were available for sale online, but due to the DVD/Disc format quickly losing appeal, they were no longer in demand and sales were discontinued . . .
However, rather than keep the video on the shelf, so to speak, I'm making it available for you here!
Given its long run time, I've broken it up into four chapters, with this being Chapter Three. This portion takes the viewer from Lock #20, Ashburnham at Peterborough, northward through the Otanabee River to Lakefield, Buckhorn and Bobcaygeon - ending at Lock #39, Portage, for an overnight stop.
There was a considerable amount of time invested into the production and it's my hope that everyone will enjoy the insights, lovely scenery and as always, inspiration!
Subsequent chapters will be released each Sunday and all four available on this Playlist: • Cruise Entire Trent Se... 😊
Location is on Ontario, Canada's lovely 240 mile/386 km Trent Severn Waterway.
Over the past number of years of cruising this lovely waterway, I've produced well over 200 other videos from our wonderful visits, which you can find in this ever expanding playlist here; • Trent Severn Waterway ...

Thanks for sharing this series with us Paul. Ya learn something in each release. Even living here I did not know that Fenelon used to be a flight lock!!

Indeed it was. And not sure if you've seen it on another past video of mine, but Lock 28 at Burleigh Falls also started its life as a two chamber flight lock, but when that was converted to the single lock we now know and love, it lost 'Lock 29'. And that's why there's now only 44 locks on the system, despite starting at Lock One at Trenton and ending at 45 in Port Severn. Stick around, as I'm full of lots of useless information 🤣
Oh wait, strike that! You got another trip down south to prepare for, so best get on it 😎🌴⛱️🍹 Looking forward to seeing your next one 🍻

I have had great luck fishing on Canal Lake caught my first Musky on that lake tons of Large Mouth Bass and some great table size Walleye. We used to launch our fishing rig at Sunset Cove Marina they are really good people that own it.

I don't do any fishing myself, but I've heard from many folks how great the catches are on Canal. Plus, we always see lots of fishing boats when passing through there, so must be a good spot.
Joe from Sunset Cove Marina was a good guy, but he sold last year and new folks operating it now.

It sure is! And after 20 years of traveling the lovely Trent Severn Waterway, we still really enjoy our time!
Hope you have a chance to check out our extended cruise through the system last summer; Summer 2022 Cruise: ua-cam.com/play/PLKhjT5kr2l2FfZzzxZ5GiZynKbMQs21iZ.html

Truly amazing scenery! The lift locks amaze me how they operate as a "bathtub" I will be watching this series several more times over the winter because I know I missed something watching it the first time. Thanks for the information you messaged me about the waterway. Merry Christmas to you and yours! Come on boat season 2023.

Glad you enjoyed it! And yes, many folks refer to the 'lock chambers' on both the Peterborough + Kirkfield Lift Locks as bathtubs. A cool ride, for sure.
And just to let you know, I am currently editing another video from our Summer '22 cruise That one will be our voyage from Trent Port Marina across to Kingston to begin our first ever trip on the Rideau Canal! I'm loving reliving the excitement of that trip - not to mention the glorious summer weather we had :-)

Thanks again for sharing these. Did you ever get "stuck" between locks where there was no room on the wall and no room at a local marina? Seems like it might be difficult to find an anchorage.

    • @BoatingWithBoogaboo
      @BoatingWithBoogaboo  Рік тому +1

In 20 years of doing this, we've never got 'stuck' without a place to stay for the night. That said, we have had to sometimes travel farther than we had hoped to get a tie-up spot, but that's more of an inconvenience than anything. Worse case scenario is that we'd have to tie up on the blue line (the area of the lock approaches designating one's desire to pass through a lock), with the only drawback being that we'd have to leave by/before first lockage the following day.
And yes, there are places that one could potentially anchor out overnight, just not along the narrower canals...
