If you do decide to make this series a co-op, I would recommend a modpack called "essentials", which basically makes the multiplayer like bedrock edition, with friends and stuff, and you can just add all the mods you already have to the modpack! I've used it a bit and it's actually really easy

You could make the space underneath into a lush cave with glow berries a lot of moss and maybe a pond with axolotls and froggos with a secret entrance. Or a dungeon lol
Moss is superior to grass anyways
All I'm saying is... The Castle needs a statues of Skyes [or something] somewhere. I propose using copper blocks and let them get fully oxidized for that lovely green.
The statues could help bring depth to the flat walls and maybe some trees

50:07 I think a garden of flowers in the small courtyard would be best because you walk around it on the stone pathway, and the upper courtyard has small spots of multiple different veggie farms.
52:48 when you go through and texture, use stairs and walls to add little dips to add dimension.
In the courtyards maybe make small “market stands” if that makes sense, with wood and carpet, where the villagers would sell things (:

At 29:12 instead of using honey under carpets , if you put berry bushes under carpets mobs will not walkpast them, so you couls use that rather than honey, then it's more convenient for you too
For the stairs in the middle, put some carpet to break it up! It's a classic medieval thing to have a fancy pants carpet going down the stairs. It can be red to stay with the theme, or light blue to keep with your theme!

When I was digging up a mountain to show an ancient city I watched all of the extra edition of the lord of the Rings. And I miss watching your videos weekly and it's great to have you back. And intros are what a youtuber does. So just do what you like, it's your channel right? It's good to make changes and it shows development of the youtuber and what they learned
keeping villagers in: id put a fence with some leaves on top kinda build a hedge
id bring a stone cutter to the build and transfer a lot of stone there as you dig. because you dig, bring to base, transfer to build. you can cut the middle part out.
some castle walls have wooden structures on the sides like galleries around it or castle toilets look it up! it could remove some flatness
what might look good on the top courtward walls is on the sides, you go down one block and replace the second block with walls it would give depth to the structure.

i think if skyes cut down some height ( 7 or 8 blocks or so ) of the front upper courtyard that hangs over the grand staircase to make a middle tier garden space that would make the upper courtyard look less gray from the lower courtyard, so when you walk to the upper from the lower courtyard theres two custom trees or other tall features that over hang the grand staircase, it should help break up the elevation

You can do something like an arch at the end of the stairs, maybe a drawbridge! So you can put down fence gates and the villagers will not be able to get out :) i did the same thing in my medieval castle, so none died and they could roam around in the castle :)
I have an idea...but not sure if you can. Youband Darman need to share an IP range or at least a DNS then you can open your world to LAN with cheats off then he can join on you. Your PC becomes the server
Glass for the dome part and then the “Structural part” could be wood or that copper idea you had or stone, anything really even foliage
If you put fence gates under carpet, you aren’t able to walk over them but if you make a lever or something to open them then you are able to 29:49

29:26- for the villagers walking around, maybe let the walk around freely but make like a Redstone gate with fences that goes into the ground when you hit a lever, sounds a little medieval like somewhat the same mechanics of a draw bridge

So on hermitcraft theyre using those berries and carpet too keep their horses in. Not sure who thought of it first though, Etho also using an interestimg fence method
with the villagers in the castle: i would say you could build them little marketplaces where they can move around in but can't escape or you could technically just let them free roam. as long as you find a way to put the work tables on the castle (maybe as decoration) and provide them with beds, they usually dont wander off a lot

I'm definitely in favour of you downloading the create mod, it would open more farm opportunities, thus more builds to do but also might not lag out your world as bad as the vanilla farm and storage methods. And it would be good for you to have a world where you can dedicate time to learning how to use the create mod in a world you would fear having a time limit.
I love the 2 and a half hour episodes more than the 1 and a half hour ones to be quite honest! Theyre quite fun.
On one side of the massive wall do like an aqueduct/hanging garden and on the other side do a total contrast with the sewer/death landscape. Will give purpose and aesthetics to the medieval castle theme.

If you want to fill the trading hall with "life" but not have to deal with too many villagers roaming free... 🤔 There's always that straw mannequin mod that Mr. Beardstone used to add his subscribers to his world. It lets you put on a player's skin on the mannequin as long as you have their MC name and then pose them so they look like they're doing different things. They don't move but that might actually be a good thing. 😅 I think I remember which series and episode he used it on. Want me to find the exact name of the mod so you can check it out? I don't mind doing that for you, though I don't doubt someone will see this comment and provide the name before I can, lol. 😉👍

You can always put carpet in the pathways to make it have more contrast and more diversity between the stone, dirt, and leafs.
For the entrance to the main building, you should bring up the walkway/entrance up three blocks every 10 blocks so it doesn’t feel like you’re walking for so long.

I think for the upper court yard, you could round it off/ mirror it at the other end where the trading hall will be. And maybe have a pond on one or both sides. Oh, and you could use the re widening of the pathway to make a small path around the trading hall.
If you dont like the wall being so flat, then you could add a small pathway around the wall starting at the lower courtyard height. Its a small fix but it would add a suprising amount of depth. It would also make the first level of the foundation larger and more prominent so it looks like the building is more sturdy.
Idk just a thought...

I don’t know if this works or not but you might be able to put sweet berry bushes in front of your stairways of the the build and cover them with carpet. That way Villagers wouldn’t walk over them so they could walk around the courtyard but not leave the castle.
It would be so cool if you build a villager Town under that and close it up with colored glass. By the way I'm loving this series.

for the roof on the lower courtyard, you should make a giant glass dome, I love this build it looks so cool

For the empty grass areas on lower courtyard, use bone meal to do the tall grass and flowers that way it’s there but you can still see off

Hey Skyes about that villager trading with respect to biome thingy, it’s in experimental stage only they didn’t announced anything about adding it to the main game yet. So we are kinda safe. (I prefer video time to be 1:30 hours, but I can hear you yap for even more if you want that’s your wish😊)
Also new Netherite update is not too tedious, all you need is 1 smithing template that’s it (kinda love to see you suffer) [feels like I am a bad person xd 😂]

This is probably going to get lost in the comments, but look into the "FramedBlocks" mod, it lets you pick inbetween a lot of different shapes and you can then apply any block you wish to them, so you could have, for example, dirt stairs or stone half slabs, or a glowstone button that actually gives light. If you end up using it, you need an item called "Framed Hammer" to remove the "appearance block" without destroying the whole thing. Happy yapping o/
Install rails from your mining hill to your base. Your mule can still help with the last load, but build a bunch of minecarts with chests from the hill to your trading hall with some power rails so uou can just load up chests and send them down when they get full, save you multiple trips back and forth and save time

For co-op on modded java, Essential is a mod that allows you to play multiplayer & invite your friends to worlds, so you should look into that!!

59:45 I would widen the path at the end to round off the upper courtyard and give the doors more of a black market/stables theme.
Edit: I meant like how most Gothic/medieval castles in movies and shows have the entrance with stables on either side of the gate and a small market for people to get wares for travel that they may have forgotten or lost along their journey. Not the door itself being black market themed
in the long skinny section in the lower part, do beds for like tanning beds to lookout and view the land, and put flowers in the smaller 2 parts. in the top part do farms and a few trees! just my opinion
i find it so funny that I think the build is already too big and then skyes just go and make it even bigger
cherry blossom trees would look great up at the top courtyard bit. or t least that wood and leaves would look rlly pretty

In the lower court yard where the grass is u could make it a farm of sheep or cows instead of trees. It makes the middle tree look special (like an elder tree) or u could dig down with stairs and make a pool/hot tub
For the travel you can always use lamas and just have a trail of them with a bunch of chest so you have a little more storage instead of running back and forth a 1000 times
You can probably make a raid farm for both xp and emeralds or a guardian farm for building materials and xp
For the mega portal build you should do the giant tree from avatar 😂☝️

For the grassy parts I think you should use cherry trees the particles will add to the ambiance
