Thanks for the vids! Enjoying your content and would like to see a video showcasing the Bomber! It seems like a really fun ship type to play but I can't seem to find success with it.
The Bomber is maybe the ship that alters your base gamestyle the most in comparison to the other heavy fighters. You need to relearn using your secondary weapons as much as you can and energy consumption on low levels for standard missiles sucks...you are dry after 3 shots. The ultimate is also more situational then the Turret or Phalanx. I think it can be a great class, but you have to do adapt a lot to it´s special behaviors.
@@wholesomegamer Yea! I think that’s why I’m struggling a lot and failing to see the appeal of it since going dry after 3 missile shots seem very lackluster… rocket spam seems to be good too but definitely difficult to sim so I just end up relying on primaries anyway
3:38 Minor issue, but this had me a little confused. You say crafting is bound to story progression (and having a cargo unit), so I skipped buying a cargo unit assuming the story missions would provide me with one. Didn't get one until much later when the story missions felt like I was out of the tutorial phase so I just bought the first one I saw. These are great videos, though, thank you.
Thank you for the feedback! I´m sorry if that part was confusing, but yeah, you can´t craft until you reach a (very early9 story point and the Cargo Unit is up to you to provide. I will try to be more clear in the future - thank you for pointing that out.
I got a storage unit near home base before anything else and have been disassembling and crafting before I was level 2. It is not a level bind but item bind. You mush have the storage unit.
I'll be honest, I've rarely use my devices and I don't think I've used consumables more than five times since starting and I'm level 16 now. Flak, thermo, and drones for the win. I bought the Vanguard early on because I love the entire concept of carriers, I can't aim to an extent I am happy with (missing even half the shots annoys me, but I can just blame the gun if I'm using the thermo because the shots don't all go straight), and it had a lot more storage space than the starter ship. Because my drones and flak cannons killed everything I just completely forgot about using devices until about level 10. And even then I rarely use them. Teleport is the only one I really use, and mostly if I missed a webber drone and got caught or I am losing shields/armor.
High Risk areas and Rifts will later encourage you to use more of your tools...otherwise it´s a little bit like playing Diablo without any skills 😀. EMP and Missile Defense System works wonders in tight situations. The Vindi is one of the most "tactical" classes, the drones take a lot of heat from you...don´t get to comfortable with that 😄
@@wholesomegamer I'm including high-risk areas with that assessment. My first one was awful, I had still forgotten about consumables. It was over-leveled, hidden health, and one other thing that I can't remember. And then when I left the area, I found out I couldn't try it again. I think the last time I died in it, I had most of my health, surprisingly, and then I just evaporated one or two ships before the boss spawned. I've only died once or twice since then in one other high-risk area. I had teleport and quantum entangler, and I had no idea how to use quantum entangler. I still don't actually. I haven't gotten far enough in the campaign for rifts yet. I've been busy transporting liquor, small arms, and ramen to get money. Sometimes that includes Earth wine. I also got the remote storage perk. Using that, my last trip and a half got me nearly 200,000 credits. Honestly, I mainly use my devices besides teleport as "win-harder" buttons. I use them to obliterate enemies. I also mostly forget about secondary weapons as well. And I know that the drones take off most of the heat. Sometimes they even destroy groups of enemies before I realize what is going on and get my guns pointed in the right direction.
Question before I buy the full game as I am currently playing the demo. Does the amount of credits and resources you accumulate in the demo transfer when you buy the full game or do you start from scratch?
There is one ship dealer in the first system and two in the second system. The main story will lead you automatically very early to the first ship dealer.
Is there ever an argument for selling items? I always disassemble if i need the blueprint but i've started selling common items that are worth a 250 or more to try and fast-track getting a good ship. Is this a mistake and i need to always disassemble to prep for late-game crafting?
I started to sell grey and green stuff after level 15 or so, once I had plenty of materials. Once you get enough rare and superior loot, you can safely sell those lower tiers.
I played everspace 1 so the controls is fairly easy to me. What’s the issue, is traveling. Every time I’m locked in to another planet or travel spot I fly right by it. I can’t figure that part out yet
Ah, I think I know what you mean. Once you are in space you have to select your target location and lock it in, before traveling to it. I was confused by this too at the very beginning and tried to just fly in the general direction without locking on to the destination.

Its really hard to "try out" all ships while leveling because when you get feel of it you are already leveled up few levels and shops offering higher tier ships that are out of budged. Im kinda stuck with a bomber until i unlock other solar system and can get trading going.
You don´t loose money when selling a ship, so you can interchange for nearly free within one tier. The jump to a new tier is ofc a very different thing :-) - so make sure to test different ships before leveling up to much.
@@wholesomegamer yeah, i know, change same tier is about +-1000 credits, but atleast at first 10 levels you level up really fast when doing jobs/missions, plus ship rotations in shop makes it hard to try ships you really want and by the time you find one you already overleveled enough and shop is offering higher tier ships that you cant buy. Personally i purposly stopped doing missions and jobs and focused on random events just to get good feeling of my ship.
Hm, good question. There are not that many options, I personally have everything turned on and put the FOV-Slider to max. Damage numbers are maybe one thing you don´t really need and that would clear up some clutter around your crosshar...I will try that myself later 😀
Huh, I never used a controller. Maybe you can switch to M+KB for the tutorial or you can assign every function like rolling left/right to the controller input of your choice - the menu to assign controls is pretty detailed. Got to settings and there you will find the option to customize your controls.
Evading incoming damage is strafing left / right and boost-strafing let´s you avoid nearly anything...but only works as long as you have boost-energy. There are also devices that can get you out of harms way, but no 180° turns. I also try to use cover from natural obstacles in difficult situations, if available. An aggressive playstyle where you heal more armor damage with kills than loosing it in addition to the later available energy orbs (heal/energy) might also work out - especially with the Gunship.

@@wholesomegamer not on PS5. Roll is locked to pushing down the stick at the same time you are trying to move it left or right to roll making it difficult. I don’t need yaw as a main function when I can simple use side thrusters to strafe.
@@Endor2001 it’s drives me insane. At a minimum if I had the option to swap roll and yaw controls it would be 100x better for me. I play a lot of flying/space games and I’m very accustomed to using roll and pitch to turn. Edit: in addition, no reverse thrust is driving me insane as well.
for beginners this game has many confunsing navigation, dialog or other interactive interface I ever found... it's not intuitive, and during in-game, I have had to google for how to do this or to do that... for example, accelerating or thrusting your ship I have to push W key to fly ahead, but as soon you release that key, the ship stop moving forward... you have to keep W key pressed all the time... To fire, I have to activate the weapon system and then to select a weapon with key 1 or 2,,, and then to fire you need to use the LMB. Crazy... To board your starship in space, that's another weird story... and even to navigate throu the galaxy, you can get lost trying to go to any destination... Yeah, I am a newbie playing this game but No Man's Sky is more instuitive than this game
$50 for this? It will be so much better when they have been fixed all the bugs and it's on sale a year or so from now. I'll be patient. I'm still jaded from getting screwed out of $20 for my ill conceived purchase of Starbourne 2(the newest space scam)
ES2 rivals most AAA productions in terms of content (25h beeline mainquest, 45 hours total and open end endgame loop) and I don´t know which bugs you are referring to. I had none in 100hours EA + V1.0. It is on Game-Pass and has a free demo on steam.
One of my favorite games I played in few years. I wish every studio would be like this, fuck everything, here are 2-3 mechanics that our game uses - and yo btw, they are fun, complex and polish. I am tired of every new big game having 70 mechanica, but every one of them is shallow, uninteresting and boring af. Make games fun again.
Well, it´s an arcady game and supposed to be an arcady shooter. When they scrapped the cockpit customization 1 month or so before released, they stated that the vast majority uses 3rd person and only very few people cockpit view. I can totally understand that cockpit users are disappointed to an extend, but I think the game simply works best in 3rd person...and I want to see my customized rig 😄
The Devs always stated to go more for a Diablo in space then a Freelancer 2. It certainly delivers on that, but may disapoint people who hoped for something else. For me personally it rubs enough Freelancer itches and I love the general direction of the game. Sorry that you don't enjoy it.
@@Jorjgasm 😅 Oh, I totally get that! My nostalgia for Freelancer is also strong and I remember being super disappointed by Rebel Galaxy Outlaw, because I really disliked the control/steering system. After I accepted for myself not to compare every aspect of ES2 with Freelancer and be more open minded to the vision of the Devs, I clicked with ES2. I still dislike some aspects, like puzzles, but the overall package is immensely stratifying!
Hm, Freelancer had you grind for better ships, weapons and especially the special variants of these. So having no grind in that game is maybe a little to generous of a statement. I personally think that the "grind" in ES2 is very good integrated into the overall journey and the joy of simply exploring everything...at no point I had the feeling to need some excessive grind to achieve something truly necessary. Most, if not all, activities related to "grind" are completely optional to give you a feeling of progression while doing what you like. Renown tiers, challenge rewards and so on are nothing you really need and the blueprint system let´s you craft anything you want (something you couldn´t do in Freelancer) while having an abundance of crafting materials available.
@@wholesomegamer Yes, 2-3 orders between story missions to buy a new spaceship and not 10 where half of what I earned has to be put into repairs and rockets. Didn't have to die every mission in Freelancer even though I play on easy
@@barserk6645 it seems you are frustrated because you are just not good at the game. Its a fair bit harder than Freelancer, practise a bit and you will know how to manage your rockets and lifebars.
Well then do not buy better ship? I did not bought any till I was level 13 (cuz I did not know you can sell the old one for same money). The game is completely playable even if you wont grind...also, this is fucking looter shooter...it is like complaining you can not change camera in FPS, or complaining about online in MOBA...thats the genre, it is not for everybody and it is completely fine 😄

LS up - vertical thrust up
LS down - vertical thrust down
LS left - strafe left
LS right - strafe right
Why was that freaking hard devs? The controls are unbearable.
At least you can remap everything as you see fit.
@@wholesomegamer not on PS5. Roll is locked to pushing down the stick at the same time you are trying to move it left or right to roll making it difficult. I don’t need yaw as a main function when I can simple use side thrusters to strafe.
The controls aren't a problem for me. They work very well.
@@SynthDyeah I hated that in the first one too on ps4 did they ever added custom bindings as of yet?
for beginners this game has many confunsing navigation, dialog or other interactive interface I ever found... it's not intuitive, and during in-game, I have had to google for how to do this or to do that... for example, accelerating or thrusting your ship I have to push W key to fly ahead, but as soon you release that key, the ship stop moving forward... you have to keep W key pressed all the time... To fire, I have to activate the weapon system and then to select a weapon with key 1 or 2,,, and then to fire you need to use the LMB. Crazy... To board your starship in space, that's another weird story... and even to navigate throu the galaxy, you can get lost trying to go to any destination... Yeah, I am a newbie playing this game but No Man's Sky is more instuitive than this game
you give me german vibes xd
I hope that´s not a bad thing 🙂 - constantly working on my accent. But as a German I try to make efficient and methodical guides and videos 😅
@@wholesomegamer na its Not Bad and I need a Moment to realise
But by Hinterland i heared It
My english ist definitly Not good xd
Pro tip: buy voiceattack
Why no one uses cockpit view in this game ? Console camera sucks and make the game to look more arcady
The game lacks a lot of the charm of Freelancer, another arcadey space game. Maybe the worldbuilding rubs me wrong.
The Devs always stated to go more for a Diablo in space then a Freelancer 2. It certainly delivers on that, but may disapoint people who hoped for something else. For me personally it rubs enough Freelancer itches and I love the general direction of the game. Sorry that you don't enjoy it.
@@wholesomegamer Oh, I enjoy it. But I can't help but nitpick, since it has been so long since we had a single player Freelancer type game.
Anybody that rags on this game needs some mental help. This game is FUN and it is not overly complicated. More games need to be fun like this.
@@Endor2001 Different strokes for different folks.
Why cant be a game whitout stupid MMO grind, like Freelancer!?!
Looks very stuttery
It actually runs really smooth...part of the stuttering comes from recording it...my rig is decent, but the CPU needs an upgrade.
@@wholesomegamer so those hitches that occur every so often are just down to recording and not the game engine itself?
@@TheSometimeAfter At least most of them. While paying for myself I get them very rarely, but when I´m recording in the background they happen on a regular base. I´m kinda used to it...
