With the interceptor I found the energy core to be super important, you can get one which is very heavily geared towards restoring boost energy which can refill it from nothing to full in under a second. This negates the issue of running out of boost energy while weapons are using it.
I found once you reach a good amount of expertise (around -25% less energy consumption) and have the passive perk with 30% energy refund on hit, you barely run out of energy or dip into you boost energy.
I've watched most of your videos on Everspace 2, and I must say they have been very helpful as a new player. I really appreciate your hard work! I love my drone buddies, but your Showcase & Comparison is tempting me to try a new class =)
Thank you a lot for that feedback! Sentinel and Interceptor are really strong, I´m still surprised how much the Sentinel can tank with decent Expertise (40% damage reduction) and as much as I love my Gunship, god are these medium fighters nimble and agile in comparison 😃
@@Shadowclaw25 I have no data which ship classes are played most, but for myself I can say that I just starting to test them. The Scout can be really strong, but it also a niche fighter. The Stinger seems interesting too. I think one problem is, that Sentinel, Interceptor, Gunship and Vindicator have a broader usecase and can be build into anything you want. So naturally more people are playing them in opposite to highly specialized, but less versatile ships, like Striker or Scout. I will get to them eventually 🙂
This post may be very late, I just discovered this channel. Light ships can be very good. The Scout is untouchable in real space (can hit enemies from ~9km away with a marksman rail gun or drown them in flak explosions from more than 4 km). Also, you can combine the reduced detection range passive with equipment that gives the same effect, and enemies won't detect you outside of a ~1 km range so you can sneak essentially anywhere without even cloaking. It does fall off in ancient rifts, though, because of the resolve mechanic kicking in. Vanguard is very weak early game but later it becomes a trololol circle strafing machine, no one can hit you as long as you build to have high boost uptime (prioritize low consumption and fast recharge over speed). Guaranteed crits from the rear is also great, especially with close-range heavy hitters like blasters or scatter guns. Passives are a bit too situational. You have to keep boosting all the time, which makes maintaining a 200-300 m distance and staying behind enemies very difficult. Stinger is essentially a pocket gunship as long as you cycle your devices correctly, since you will be able to have close to 100% uptime of the third hardpoint, plus the benefits of the improved device levels. Survivability is its Achilles heel though. In spite of having the best defensive stats in the light class, the lack of shield overcharge and the luxury of distance makes it quite vulnerable.
I love the interceptor's ability to use boost energy for weapons. I'm playing for mid to long range burst damage with three flaks, and I just hold down fire and switch between weapons as fast as I can from range. It seems to melt anything without even trying.
Not sure if this was added in later, but the Sentinel passive that gives you a two second energy shield when picking up an energy sphere makes it a nightmare. The energy shield clears debuffs, and two seconds of damage mitigaion can really add up if there are multiple spheres lying around.
Well done on Everspace 2 tutorials. You deserve a like on every video 🙂 My personal favorite is Sentinel due to variety of builds and okish cargo space, which allows me to store additional guns.
I'd love for you to do a video about the devices in the game. There are a couple that I can't seem to figure out. Your videos have been a great help with the game.
Though not my main ship, but I love the striker. More damage with more enemies at close range, Anihilator Virus, Quantum Tether, and then Final Reckoning + Ritual combo made mine the king of multi-ship attacks of all the ships I've built. I made my striker even versatile enough to become lethal against capital ships by equipping it with cruise missiles, and then ramping up damage percent with Final Reckoning before launching them.
As a new player, I found these guides absolutely amazing! Thank you so much for your explanations and your time spent doing this! I am now lvl 9 with still the first sentinel start ship that. I can really feel it's falling behind as I progress the storyline and want to buy a Sentinel type II or even II+ . The thing is that with all these designs for every ship it becomes frustrating to find the best upgrade for you. After every mission I visit the dealer in Ceto to see the new ships, sometimes it's bad, sometimes it's meh...:)) Do you have tips on this specific regard? Keep up the great work! 😁
Thank you for the kind feedback! Don´t worry to much if you don´t get the desired passives , design, etc. you will swap relatively fast through the lower tier ships. The ship you will have the longest before unlocking T4 is really the T3/T3+, anything before that just buy it and see if you can swap to better passives later. Interchanging ships at the same tier-level is basically free.
So far I have played with medium fighters such as Sentinel and Interceptor. I like the designs and since they are the medium class, they have stats that are in the middle as well. So far I Iove the Interceptor and I have been using it on my 1st playthrough. I love how you call the ULT the berserker mode because it's so accurate.
Honestly my Favorite aethetic ship in the game is the striker, but i found after lunacy 500, it really falls off in survivability, the only way i have been able to make it survive is use the Vision of Decay with the Corrosive injector and Mercy Kill, paired with the play it safe perk you have an almost spammable source of Reactive armour, but i also found that it is the most consistent crit based platform, the speed reduction triggers the Expliotation perk and its the only ship that can reliably trigger the Symphony of Destriction perk
I've been using a Striker most of the game (specifically for the X Wing aesthetic), but I might swap to an Interceptor for a bit and try it out. Thanks for the comparison!
My pleasure, thank you for the feedback...yeah I desperately want to fly a Striker for the visuals, but I´m not the Brawler-type...and the Ultimate on Interceptor is just brutal in terms oh how long you can use it in a Rift or HRA and how fast it is back up.
@wholesomegamer Yeah, the rifts are where I think the Striker is really going to struggle compared to the Interceptor. Plus, the extra secondary can allow for homing, destabilizer, and cruise missiles for when you have the destroyers to worry about. I've killed myself multiple times by being too close to the blast zone of a cruise missile with the Striker. Hurts real bad when it's the boss of a high-risk zone and you see "yourself" as cause of death lol
Update: I just remembered that there was 2 memes. The one I'm referring to was the one during the final boss. OR, the one that does NOT involve the "Rules of Nature" theme.
Amazing video! Loved the striker explanation.. "if u don't mind been in the middle of action with thousands of explosions around" LMAO it's a NO for me
Whether I'm attacking a base, destroying a lure or answering a distress call, etc., the game is constantly spawning enemies right on top of me. CQB is entirely inevitable and unavoidable. So that's why I got a Striker. Not because I chose an up-close playstyle. The game made that choice for me. ...And I'm loving every minute. 😄
I tried different ships but the sentinel always stuck with me the most and also looks the best I think. There are much items, abilities and perks that synergize well with it like wholesome mentioned. Like if you run out of shield you pop cloak or boost away really fast to regen the and come back in the fight with a full shield. The other medium ships just don't have much combinations with some perks I think.
The Sentinel gets incredible tanky for its size...I have 40% damage reduction and the legendary shield...just awesome. That said the Interceptor is also fantastic, you can pop the Ultimate so often and stay in it for so long that you can pump out some crazy damage in Rifts and HRA. It´s really all out Warrior or tanky and versatile Paladin 😉
@@wholesomegamer Exactly! I also pumped all my mainframe points into expertise just to be more tanky and have even bigger shields. About the interceptor: that's interesting but like you said I just do not like its passive. I would rather not have it. If you even manage to run out of energy you can switch to a different weapon. What do you think of the Stinger? It seems like the mage ship class and I heard it can do crazy things just with devices alone. Scout also seems fun because there are a lot of perks you can have to make a build sniper build for it.

Not very flexible. I tried the vindicator but its to passive and slow for my taste. I also don't like I have to fly over to broken ships to rebuild drones. I like the fast combat and having to manage my shields and compliment them with items and devices. Did you try the bomber? I imagen it can do some insane stuff with cruise missiles.
@@RW-Navigator I tried the Bomber a bit, at the beginning it felt a little underwhelming, because you run out of energy very fast. You should really try the Interceptor, sounds you would like the mix of agility and high damage and sustained ultimate usage. Just ignore the passive, once I did that I liked the class a lot.
The striker is by far my favorite ship in the game. Is it the BEST ship? No. But damn, getting right up into the of everything, needing to lean heavily on your lateral and vertical thrusts to maintain a firing arch, while being evasive... has to be the most fun way to play this game.
