One of the funniest scenes in television history. There were so many on The Andy Griffith Show. For me, it was and will always be, the best show in television history. So many laughs and life lessons.
Oh, Barney...Don Knotts is the one and only person who could have played this character. He gifted us with genuine, clean, hysterical comedy back then and even up to now! Thank you, Don!!
I was born in 85 and grew up watching many of these old shows. I love how they accomplished everything they did without vulgar language, drugs, violence, sex, etc. Truly an age of less is more. What's crazy is how natural Andy and Don make it look.
My Irish Dad,who was a guy that was almost impossible to make laugh, would fall down crying in fits of laughter every time Barney started squealing and freaking out! 😆😲
Guys, HERE is The Savior HalleluYAH translates “Praise ye YaH” YaH is The Heavenly Father YaH arrives via the TENT OF MEETING YaH was Who they Crucified for our sins ** NO FEMALE INVOLVED WHATSOEVER ** - Hebrew Book of Isaiah Isaiah 42:8 "I am YaH; that is my Name! I will not yield my glory to another or my praise to idols. Isaiah 43:11 I, I am YAH, and there is no other Savior but Me. Isaiah 45:5 I am YaH, and there is none else.
I saw an interview with both of these guys later in life, and Andy mentioned he thought the name of the show should have been Mayberry, and that the show wouldn't have been what it was without Don Knotts. So true. They had a great cast and great writing.
"WHERE'S THE STILL?! *clears throat* I mean, where's..the..still?" I loved it when Otis started saying Barney's address and then said that the still belonged to Barney and then he busts out laughing!
The way he asks Otis "where's the still?" makes me laugh so hard! And especially after he says, "This is your self conscious" omg!!😂🤣😆😆😆😂😂and then Otis says "what do you want?" And then Barney gets all worked up and says "where's the still!" they way he says it then cracks me up too!!!
(Goes back to Otis) Thank you very MUCHHH! Absolutely hysterical and I have to think this took more than one take as one of the three likely burst out laughing. RIP Don Knotts, Hal Smith and Andy Griffith.
Most charming and endearing show ever presented to the American public. Or any other public for that matter. The material was the match and Don Knotts was the keg of dynamite. Exploding on the screen with the rest of this peerless cast of actors. Don Knotts made comedy look as easy as putting on a pair of socks. Andy Griffith was wise enough to get out of the way and let the laughs roll like an avalanche. Without question the greatest show in television history while Don Knotts was on it. The ultimate no brainer.
i looked this up cuz i've been listening to a weight-loss program. the first few times, i couldn't get through it without laughing! the guy does the soft, sing-song style of barney, & it just cracks me up! x^D
@TheBeaugraham 🌿💚 Hal Smith was born and raised in Petoskey in my home state of Michigan, so I was disappointed when he "went" only as far as Ohio with the wild goose chase. I'll bet he was thinking of home, though, during that scene.😊 Otis should have gotten an Emmy, too❣️
This is great stuff, The Andy Griffith Show is my favorite show from the 60's. I have seen all of these a few times over. Funny as Shit, with no Sexual stuff.
That is a hilarious clip !!!! LOVE IT EVERY TIME I WATCH IT !!! They should call it "Otis Campbell punks out Barney Fife", LOLLLLL !!!!! Still love the show.
I've seen this show a 100 times and It still cracks me up. Barney wants to be a big time Cop so bad, and Andy is always his safety net. How Otis was able to keep a straight face that whole time was priceless. I'm glad I purchased the DVD's to most of the shows. I loved Barneys New car episode. The little old lady crook was great in convincing Barney to buy that bag of nuts and bolts. I also enjoyed seeing her in the Walton's as the Grandmother. Sadly, they don't make shows like this anymore. But as I've gotten older, there's a lot of things they don't do anymore.
🍀🐓 @Frank Woods That was sure a well-written episode. Ellen Corby did a great job as a villain, too! 😄 I loved her best as the wonderful lady in "It's a Wonderful Life" who was in the crowd demanding their money at the Savings & Loan after Potter did his dirty deed. All she wanted was $17 and change! The kiss Jimmy Stewart gave her was said to be an ad lib! Pure Gold.💰💕
I’m a purist. I love the show so much that I refuse to watch color versions or after Barney left, afraid it won’t be as funny and I won’t love it as much
🍀🐓@Lee Sher You got that right!! Always the perfect piece with each scene when needed. And as the cast sang a little tune, a small orchestra would join in for the finish! As when they were enjoying the Christmas party at the jailhouse. One favorite is when Barbara Eden kissed Andy and Barney goodbye and we were all treated to her lovely rearview retreat down the sidewalk. Next time you see it, soak up that jazzy, sexy perfect little piece of music that trails along. 😅🍀🎵
🍀🐓 @Lee Sher Boy! I'll say! Just saw a small reunion with Otis, Thelma, Goober, Barney and one other. (As soon as I hit send, I'll remember!!) We were treated to Otis speaking a couple of lines...first as Winnie the Pooh and then as the original Old Owl from that cartoon. I'll be searching for those performances by the great Hal Smith, who we all know and love as "Otis."
I had such a crush on Thelma Lou! So cute! Her eyes! I loved her eyes! I hear that in real life the actress that played Thelma was such a sweet person. She recently passed away. R.I.P
it's always funny seeing Barney's idea that he thinks will work and doesn't when solving Cases. Andy's way of dealing with problems always works better.
🌿💚 @patrickperalta59 ...And then when someone else gets the credit he thinks should have been his.... Like when the 3 female convicts were captured. Barney was so ticked off to see Floyd front and center on the local newspaper as hero of the day!!! Poor Barney!!! 😂‼️
@@diananutt1517 yeah that was funny. If I remember correctly Barney had just mentioned he didn't need attention or a party or nothing for just doing his job..and that was good enough..........then he sees Floyd's picture in the paper and got upset for not getting credit...🤣🤣🤣🤣
💚🌿.....and he was fantastic in the dramatic scenes, too, like when he said he "had Thelma in his hip pocket."😮 He was sure he'd lost her, but once he was lucky enough to get her back, he was right back on the phone saying the very same thing again!!!
Some Sheriff Barney was! His "Advanced" way of doin' thangs backfired on him, big-time! Otis and Andy both had a great laugh out of that, while ol' Barn, as usual, was left stewin' in his own juices, an' madder than a whole nest of wet hornets! Barney Fife: Professional Know-it-all, that didn't know anything!
Barney was the HEART and SOUL of that show!!!! He was HYSTERICAL!!!!
Never another one like him...nor as great at comedy! Also, this show has fantastic writers. Barney's my FAVE EVER!
💕❤️🙌

Andy is so patient when Barney insults his intelligence, he just saves his laugh till Barney ends up in a mess 🤣
Don Knotts was priceless in this show, you could split your sides laughing.
The way he and Hal Smith played off of each other was nothing short of ingenious. It's like they could play straight man to each other.
They wanted don to be sheriff but found andy fit the roll better and they had andy play straight for everybody
Otis wasn't too bad either?!
Yes absolutely

Don Knotts and Hal Smith had a terrific chemistry.

The Andy Griffith show is the best show and Barney Fife is a trip and Otis Campbell is the drunk man and they will have everybody laugh all the time
hands down the funniest episode hahahahaha i always have tears in my eyes from watching this and ive seen it a million times so funny
