As a child in New Zealand in the 60's l grew up watching shows like this. How wonderful they were. So wholesome and somehow filled with hope for the future.
Petticoat Junction, Green Acres, Beverly Hillbillies, The Andy Griffith Show... loved them all.
I never realized that people across the world were watching our television shows when I was a little boy. (60's also)
@@q-man762 We still are. Lol. Sadly the vast majority of the ones we get now are drek. Of "The Real housewives of...." ilk or, endless overscripted renovation shows. The English programmes aren't much better. Usually some bloody island or other. I guess they must be cheap or something but, l really miss good films or suspense or English comedy and, not saying we should still be watching the shows of my childhood but, at least they had a fairly wholesome message (apart from the anti first nations rhetoric, of course). Occasionally Australia or The New Zealand Film Commission produces something pretty good that we get to watch and we still get the occasional absolute gem. Thank God.
Same here in Australia. We watched those shows, along with Get Smart, Mr. Ed, Lancelot Link, Hogan's Heroes....
We got a mixture of American and British shows, with a few Aussie programs thrown in.
@@peterpiper831They were great shows too. l loved Get Smart and, Agent 99 was the most beautiful and cleverest woman l'd ever seen. Don't think we got Lancelot Link though.
Unfortunately this all changed when CBS and other networks did the “Rural Purge” in favour of city and suburban based shows. While some of those shows were good, they seemed to have lost that wholesome and light hearted comedy. I am glad we have reruns we can see to this day.
ONE OF THE GREATEST SHOWS EVER PRODUCED
You sure can say that again! I love this show. Today shows are crap!
you are so right. my favorite show of all time.
The best! I watch it everyday during my lunch!
Understatement
One of the best??? I believe only...Leave it to Beaver even comes close. But...there were so many good programs in the day. Robin Hood...Wild Wild West...Zorro...McHales Navy...just to name a few.
Wonderful show. Good morals and integrity
When gas stations were service stations. The soft drinks vending machine was so cool. I remember them.
Another great episode of Andy Griffith show...
I love The Andy Griffith Show. I want to live back then right now
I will get you a time machine
I did live back then...it just didn't last long enough!
The best part is when Barney sets up and camera then he opens the door and it takes a picture of him. That scene was not shown here.
I hear you. I sometimes look for clips from movies and shows and they leave out the only reason I went looking for it. Is it on purpose I wonder?
[
Yes, I remember it, it's at the very end, thanks for reminding me. Classic!
There is your criminal!
Shazam
I’ve seen every episode many times and they never get tired
That's what you call"wholesome" TV.....and I love it!
ABSOLUTELY REALITY TV!!!!!
Because Once Upon a time. Not Long ago We DID Live This Way!!!!!
Jimmy was a genius to do that with the cash register.
I love how on these old shows the same actors played numerous roles, I remember the actor who played Jimmy also played the part of the guy who wanted to fight the Sawyer fellow in Stranger in town.
The Sayer feller. You all gotsta say "The Sawyer Feller."

What a fun series, watching it here in Brazil by reference from a friend who lives where the series was made ❤️
I like how jimmy realized the evidence was against him, though he was entirely innocent, and the evidence was circumstantial. So he rigged a trap to catch the actual thief. Great work, Jimmy.

Andy didn't jump to conclusions. He was thoughtful logical and deliberate.
He read the script.
Critical thinking on display.
@@Lucypetuniaggm To all, but Willy Biggs.
Except when it involved Opie. 🙄
There were several times where he immediately jumped to the conclusion that Opie had done the wrong or selfish thing. Like when Opie donated very little to a charity, but it was to buy another kid a coat.
That's why you are innocent until proven guilty in America ! Go by facts not emotion.
watching this brought me to tears because when I was like 3 years old my dad and I would watch it.. I'm 16 now..but lack the dad.. thank you for uploading this.. it brings back some of the best parts in my life.
I lost my dad 33 years ago yesterday.
@@ronaldm.6150 sorry.
@@ronaldm.6150 We never forget them. Thirty years this year when I lost my mom. God's peace and comfort to you Ronald.
Glad you have those good memories Melina.
@@billh.8515 Thank you.
Always the caution to avoid jumping to conclusions. A calmer culture to be sure
This was a great show. Though any Mayberry
Show with the Darling family arriving in town is hilarious!😁
@@wallacecleaver4485 What's the matter, wake up on the wrong side of your cage again?
There is absolutely no need for that kind of senseless attack on someone, just for an open, honest personal opinion.
You are the lowest form of human out there...and it makes me feel embarrassment, for being of the same species.
If there is a "moron" here, you have proven to be it.
Susan didn't even reply, which is the 2nd best way to deal with your kind...the best way. I'm going to try next.
RIP Maggie Peterson.
Man I was born in the wrong era. The 50's were American prime. I love this show. ❤
Loved it because I have to get to bed. Had the 6 minutes to spare!
I loved just how smart of a Sheriff Andy was. He knew almost every move a crook was gonna do. He flushed them out before any state policeman or FBI agent could. He was tough AF too did, didn’t wear a gun and always walked right into a line a fire without getting hit once.
well, he did have kevlar plot armour, that always helps, lol.
yeah, well he read the script ...
“Didn’t wear a fun?” You need to edit your post!!!
It's almost like there was a script he read
He couldn't have been more effective if it was a TV show.
Andy saw right through that Jimmy was honest and telling the truth! Way to go Andy!!!!
No, Andy, was going to arrest him.
That's correct. Andy was actually supportive of the young man throughout the whole first 5 minutes or so, and then the way the evidence kept mounting up and then they saw him through the window at the cash register. He was ready, then finally to arrest him as well. However, obviously once he hooked up the wires. And the other guy was screaming common sense and then Andy did let him go. But I will say in Andy's defense for the script. Remember, throughout most of the episode? He was actually on the young man's side. But as evidence mounts, sometimes innocent people get called guilty. It is life sad, but it is life.
One of the best comedies of all time. It rates up there with I Love Lucy in that I've seen every episode multiple times...but if I come across it on TV I'll still watch and enjoy all over again.
With so much of these old shows truncated to run more ads on the commercial TV channels, they don't have much more content than this version.
Jimmy was a great mechanic and a hot rodder!😁👍
I agree with Maliks comment except for one thing. It is definitely the greatest show ever produced! Beautifully written and superbly acted. While Don Knotts reigned supreme on this show, nothing could touch it. Greatest show ever, sure as a sun and a moon.
Good to see faith and judgment win in the end
Nice to see this episode in such a short time span.
@@wallacecleaver4485 because I said so you worthless useless idiot.
I like how the thief couldn't let go of the register from being shocked.
240V will grab you
@@carmineredd1198 11 old school 1950's 6V batteries in series would give you roughly 65V with some loss. :]
Just be sure to keep it below .5 amps. It's the amps that can kill you.
My dad always gave me an analogy. Wattage is how big the opening of a tube os for water. And voltage is how fast the water will come out of the tube.
He didn’t wire the cash box to the batteries. He wired the batteries to the ignition coil and wired the coil to the register. Coils put out around 25,000 volts back then. Low amps though or he would have been a goner.
This is really reality TV. Because once upon a time in this country we did live this way!!!
I would love to go to sleep and wake up in the 50s
@Itis Me Interesting Stuff. I was Wondering Jusr How You Became a Victim.😉..........Look, I know you went through a lot in that could not have been easy.
Please don't tell me I don't know what I'm talking about because I do.
@Itis Me Every era in history has negative things in it, because people aren't perfect. But I grew up visiting grandparents in a small town that had the charm of Mayberry. Those nostalgic, wholesome moments did indeed exist! And they still do today, maybe just harder to find.
We have to acknowledge the difficulties in life of course. But to ignore the good things in life that make for wonderful memories is a very real and unnecessary shame.
I grew up watching this show when new. At age 6, I had a crush on Andy. Grandma teased me about it back then.
Post Toasties
Love it
🤣❤😇

Not Wilbur Post ?
A nice 6 minute episode and edited just great, done well.
AAA4509 No it wasn't!
I know this episode well. You did a fine job editing it to 6 mins.
My Favorite Episode is when a little known actress shows up as a manicurist ..... Barbara Eden, infatuation at first sight
She was a knockout beauty all through her adulthood, and is still a beautiful woman at the age of 91. I used to wish I looked like her, or like Marilyn Monroe. Both were gorgeous!
I’m 39 and by the time I was born these were all reruns. But I had to buy the complete series and watch it on MeTV. Gomer Pyle is my #1 considering I’m a Marine!
All episodes were on Netflix for years. Are you a gay marine?
Pyle's the kind of guy who can accidentally knock you flat, then apologize for hurting you.
Willis Bouchey (Store owner) had the best voice; obviously, a radio announcer/actor veteran. You’d think he’d have a voice like Tom Sellek and Sellek would sound like him.
I’ve seen this a million times and start laughing before the set up is even over- photo of Barney at the cash register is etched in my funny bone.
The Andy Griffith show went down hill after Don Knotts left
It should have been called the Don Knotts show.
It didn’t work as well if it didn’t have BOTH of the two. They played off each other so well.
My favorite show actors
No regard, no apology. Just "Good work, Jimmy."
well they didnt realy have time to say he was arrested lol. So even though we knew their intentions the kid was suppose to remain ignorant. that and limited time in the show.
@@FastDuDeJiunn LOL-LOL You're CLEARLY a
Very Kind Person to take the time to Explain that Out.👍😉 LOL-LOL
Andy didn't have to apologize. He never accused Jimmy--the other man did. But he _never_ apologized or complimented Jimmy. I enjoyed seeing the thief get the shock of his life. :D
I LOVE EVERY EPISODE THAT THEY HAD PLAYED ON TV
I miss these days terribly.
Oh Barney and Andy you can't beat, they were to the best
me too. I love the part with the photo. Too funny! Too bad not on this clip
Proof positive that the camera does not lie! There is you criminal!! Best part of the episode. Sorry it was left out.
this is classic Griffith
Love this TV show 😊
Watch this every night
Thelma Lou liked that growing. All kidding aside, this is a great episode.
3:25 we missed the best part of Barney getting scared.
also I think missed the part where Barney rigged the camera all up and after it was developed was a picture of him.
I have this show on a VCR tape,...a good show,... back in the day's when the actor's were good,... and the show's message was wholesome......
A great episode
My favorite show the best part
Timeless classics.
Young Jimmy Morgan was my favorite character! They should have expanded his character into bigger parts.
And so he shot a law suit out at Jimmy, the gas station, the oil company, the battery maker, the town, the sheriff. But he did not shoot the deputy.
@@currypac And if he tried to sue anybody he was likely laughed out of court. The "clean hands" doctrine. Gets in your way of a good old till-tapping, doesn't it?
🥱
Great editing job.
I still watch this show
I love the trick Jimmy pulled.
The "scientific know-how" lost in the edit was the notion of a camera that Barney attached to the door of the repair area, which mesmerized Gomer. During one of the post-robbery scenes at the courthouse and jail, Barney slaps down the developed photograph and proudly shows everyone an image of himself.
Yes, apparently when you cut out all the humor the show is only 6 minutes long.
That's my favorite part.
"HERE is your criminal!" 🤣
Fabulous, I am subscribed!!
Thanks for the sub!
I love this episodes.
Jimmy is new in town.
We have to nip it in the bud Andy nip it in the bud.
Your comma key broke? Or just lazy af?
Nip it!!
AWESOME!
yOU SKIPPED THE BEST SCENE OF THE SHOW COMPLETELY! When Barney showed the pictures he took and Gomer's reaction.
The guy accusing the young lad was a state cop in the show who sides with Andy, and a judge in Perry Mason, among other roles.
Never sell people short! Always make sure you have enough proof before you throw them under the bus.
I especially like the part when Gomer told Barney that he made good pictures..
This clip has been up for 16 years now. I posted a montage of TAGS clips about 8 years ago, and it got blocked for copyright issues.
I like How Andy throws his cigarette on the floor and stamps it out.
Old school for sure
Old school for sure. Back then no one thought a thing of it
Not only that he wasn't finishing it to the butt either. Man's stepped on about a whole cig.
@@SpectateDrake means he could afford to smoke.😅🤣 my mom used to smoke winston back in the 70s they cost .60 a pack. Notelling how much a pack of strikes cost back then.
@@cjjonez In the 1960s my late father gave 1 dollar to get a box of Pall Mall cigarettes, 10 packs of them in 1 cardboard box.
You forgot the intercom scene! That was my favorite part!
The scene where Barney installed an intercom to hear prisoners conspiring and had opie sit in the cell and whisper something that Andy couldn’t hear, so zBarney kept moving him closer and closer to the intercom? Was that scene in this episode?
@@nja3224 yes because then Andy went up to get a new carbreuator on the car.
Countrified joy!!!
Just the best!
Augugbally best show ever
WT...HUH????
the only problem is they left out the most important and fun ass part of the episode and that's Barney's picture
True lol
Oh yeah! Haha I remember laughing so hard about that part the first time I saw it! 😂
Yea Barney doesn't know it but he made the first ring doorbell camera in a way!Too bad he didn't get a shot if the thief!
@@angelajohnson6659 Sort of like Wile E. Coyote!
My favorite lawmen ❤
I need a few of those traps
I always wondered why Andy and Goober were the only two with heavy southern twangs in Mayberry, but he was also the smart, organized, calm one with all the common sense. He and Barney were a perfect partnership.
Don’t forget Gomer! It’s because Andy was from North Carolina and Goober and Gomer were from Alabama.
Don Knotts wasn't from the south so that is why Barney didn't have one.
Great !
Jimmy was a natural mechanic and he set up the cash register with a series of batteries to give the actual burglar a jolt of electricity to bring him into reality!!!
I used to watch this too any gomer Barnie the gomer pile show hogans heros all of these in the 70s what were in the 60s I like you tube for them or other ppl putting them on

Someone has confused burglary with robbery.
I wish they had any diversity on this show i loved so much!
As a young girl watched at 66 still watching
Good TV. RIP.
Barney Fike was quite the character and cute little Leon’s face at 63 years old looks just like it did as when he was two
