    • @lonewolf744
      @lonewolf744 6 місяців тому +1

      @BeardedFordTech I just don't get what causes the noise. It revs with acceleration up to a certain point. It just seems like it has to be piston noise but I don't know. Seems like at idol it has low oil pressure and makes the noise. Once you give it enough acceleration to build oil pressure it goes away. I don't know, it just drives me nuts. You pull into a stor or something and sounds like your driving a piece crap with a motor knock. Oh yea I guess I am. LoL. I love the truck. Great truck great power. Just drives me nuts. Along with the stalling every once in a while.

      @@lonewolf744 phasers and solenoids will cause the stall. It is very low oil pressure at idle. It uses a variable geometry oil pump controlled by an actuator.

    Do you recommend adding ceratec in a 24? Dealer says they advise against it as it’s normal, they claim it’s the “high pressure DI fuel pump”.

    • @BeardedFordTech
      @BeardedFordTech  2 місяці тому +1

      @lindin_h I DO NOT recommend adding certatec to any engine. And I do not recommend it for the 5.0 liter. It's been doing it since 2011. And since 2018 people have made a big deal about it. It's not hurting anything. Do not add anything to the oil

    Is this similar to 3.5 eco boost noises? I got the timing chain rattle repaired under warranty on my 2018 F150, but it still sounds like metal is rattling around in the engine when idling or driving slowly.

    • @BeardedFordTech
      @BeardedFordTech  5 місяців тому +2

      Nope. The BBQ tick doesn't sound like metal rattling. Sound like lighting a propane BBQ grill lighter. If your hearing metallic rattling. Take the belt off the water pump and start it. If you don't hear the noise then it's the water pump. If you do hear it, you may have another problem. Reason I say remove the belt. If the water pump fins are scraping the engine you won't hear it with the belt removed cause it won't be spinning.

    Hey BFT I just got a Ranger Raptor and it is recommended that you use 91 octane gas. Many stations in my area have 91 octane gas that is marked for recreational vehicles and small engines only. This gas has no ethanol and is actually illegal to use in passenger vehicles I am told. Must be because the farmers have a very strong lobbing group.
    The real question is can you use recreational gas in the Raptor and would it have the correct additive packages for my truck? I know it must be hard to figure out but if it’s a Top Tier gas wouldn’t it be acceptable?

    • @BeardedFordTech
      @BeardedFordTech  6 місяців тому +2

      We don't have 91 here. We have 87 89 93 and all three are at gas stations. I don't see why 91 would be illegal to use? All the fuel have the same "ad packs" it's just the octane rating that's different. I've never heard of 91 being for recreational use only. That's odd

    My ‘21 F250 6.2L has a “normal” typewriter tick…more pronounced at 1500 rpms. So damn annoying. Started around 8k miles. Now at 30k and no change. I heard putting sound deadener on the fuel rails helps. I’ll be doing that soon and trying Liqui Moly oil with ceratec additive. Have heard positive things of taking the tick down a few decibels. I’m desperate enough to try. I’m tired of having to drive around with my stereo volume up to drown out the tick. 😩

    • @BeardedFordTech
      @BeardedFordTech  6 місяців тому +2

      Ceretec works but quickly breaks down. And you spend more money on it every oil change. Amsoil quiets it down. I haven't come across typewriter tick on the 6.2. Just injector tick. There should be foam around the fuel rail.

    • @SaKOTR
      @SaKOTR 6 місяців тому

      @@BeardedFordTech Yea supposed to take the foam off, apply the deadener, then put the foam back on. Worth a shot for me. Nothing intrusive other than unplugging a few lines. I know it’s more pronounced on the drivers side. I’ve read various 6.2 owners say injectors, plastic valve covers make more noise, bad valve springs, Valve train, cam phasers, roller follower, etc. And just to live with it and still hit 200k+ miles. I dunno how dudes do it. I can listen to an engine rumble, turbos blowoff, supercharge whine, etc. But gah damn the tapping makes me want to punch a baby 😂😩

      You wouldn't notice much of a difference but your machinist will be able to see the difference after engine disassembly. There is a reason amsoil isn't cheap, it's not cheap to produce. I personally run mobil 1 in my SUV, it doesn't see much load it's mainly a kid and grocery hauler, 165k on it and not a mechanical issue with the engine yet, but my built 93 mustang I run amsoil zrod 20w50 in it. It all comes down to what it's being used for, if it's something you don't ever plan on getting rid of or sees high load or any extreme conditions I would run amsoil, royal purple or any other same tier oil, oil is cheap insurance for an engine, even at 100 dollars for just the oil.
