This is how one makes a tutorial. Clean, precise, not confusing and getting the basics right first.
Kudos!!!
now I know what to do..the main screen used to look so intimidating since i'm a beginner. Not anymore.
\m/
Super awesome!!!
thanks..
I have found these Tutorials to be excellent. We are not all advanced users, but we are trying to be more knowledgeable about recording. The system I have is Sonar Producer X1 LE which does not have all of the effects that you show, but I can deal with that and perhaps upgrade to the regular one soon. I have sent links to 3 friends now that are beginning users of this system and think they will find it straightforward as well! Thank you very much for taking the time to share this information!
I'm a subscriber here. Thanks for spending time making these very useful videos. I only have the Essential version, and still helps a lot. Because of you, I consider Sonar the best $93.00 I spent on. Thanks!
Thanks so much for posting this! Just upgraded from a much simpler system and didn't know where to start with this one.
I really was considering the sonar and couldn't find any good review/tutorial to help me get a better idea . Your vids are great . Thanks!
omg!! thank you so much..my husband and I have had sonar x2 for a few years and we've learned how to do things 'our way" lol but im really ready to learn my equipment and get our home studio going . this has helped me so much! God bless!
First tutorial that's been any kind of useful. Thanks.
WOW! Thanks... Finally a Video that is straight forward; Thank you so much for taking the time to create these...
Ultra-mega cool. Thanks for your post.
Hey man Thank you so much for an amazing informative video. I've never signed up for anything just to post a comment for someone before. It's extremely hard to find people like you who care about the viewers and the project. I couldnt ask for better tutorials on anything. Ive watched every video out there on this program and none of them come close to yours. thank you so much again and please dont stop. Love the sound of your music in some of the clips. Keep Rockin'!
Really great job, much better than plodding through the online one they have, thanks so much for making this easier!
Man! God bless you!!!
Your videos were so very helpful to me.
Thank you very much
great vid man definitely subscribing
Thank you so much for making these tutorials, they are extremely helpful for people like myself that has zero experience. They were very simple to follow. I hope you make another series that's a little more advanced. Great Job!!!!
This is an excellent tutorial.Thanks!
Thank you so much! I have installed Sonar X1 Today. And ive been messing around with the helpguide since 7 pm Cause i had absolutely no clue what I was doing. Untill i found these tutorials. Wish i found these a couple of hours ago though haha. This is good stuff, glad i found it!
Very much a life saver, was lost coming to this from Audacity.
Me to
Thanks for the upload. FYI...You explain a way to make the tracks look neat between 10:13 - 11:03. Shift+F does the same thing, but a lot faster. No clicking, holding and dragging needed.
great video! finally someone who covers the basics without getting into tech speech... kudos for you, sir!
Great Tutorial !!
Waiting for part 2 ...
See you ...
Thanks again. Im going through your stuff finding the begining mode :) Havent done anything like this for many years.
Thanks so much for taking the time to make this. It's so informative and helpful.
Excellent tutorial thank you so much! Sonar is an excellent DAW! I will learn it well. Also thank you so much for zooming in on the various boxes! Other tutorial instructors I've watched don't take into consideration that a person may be watching on a small screen like a phone. You do consider your viewers! Thank you again!
Renee
very good tutorial keep it coming man
thank you very much for this!
@MCIHomeStudio thank you so much, your a life saver! :D
Thanks for making these :)
Learning is important for what you are doing
Awesome thanks.
great basic tutorial, just what i needed as im wanting to use this as my main means of recording intead of my stand alone Boss DAW... have you got any updated 2015 tutorials?
hey dude, thank you sooo much, that really helped me :)
Very helpful
Very Interesting! I use Sonar 8 myself!
Thanks a lot
Hi I’m recording with a 2i2 focusrite all only recording on the one side play back only playing on the one side could you tell me what the problem would be
thanks man :)
hi mr Anderson.I just bought a Behringer xenyx x1222 usb, could you give me some information on how to record using the behringer in to Sonar xi,thank's for creating all the videos on sonar xi it's great, thank you Ross Spinello....
Thank you for taking the time to teach us so clearly. Great set of tutorials :) bless you
I love your channel. Thanks :) I look forward to all your tips. Hey, quick question...? I'm about to buy my DAW, and having watched your tutorials on that particular DAW it seems perfect for me as I am a singer songwriter who plays guitar and keyboards. Yet will that old version still fully work on Windows 10? Or should I get a more updated version?
Oh wow yes I see Sonar studio yay. 89 quid to buy outright yay. It's fully geared for my type of artist. Thank you so much.
Okay I have to ask :)
Would you do a tutorial on that software pleeeease :) ?? Hehehe
I understand and thanks so much again :)
Looking forward to future videos etc x
@OGFACER The channel strip function is what I dream of in digital recording, and frankly, I'm suprised no one did it sooner. Propellerhead Record did it, but it doesn't have the functionality or sound that most of the major DAWs have. Sonar X1 Producer gives me proper editing, plug-in compatibility, internal and external routing, midi and film scoring functions, along with an easy (and fun) to use mixing board. Not to mention it sounds great.
Great video! I'm having trouble connecting my M-Audio Key Rig midi keyboard to Sonar X1. Could you shed some light on this for me?
This program seems complicated!
Thank U bro
Thanks so much for this great tutorial!
May I ask though, where you got all of your effects? Because I didn't get any of that stuff with my copy of X1 :(
How do I remove a song from the projects list (it appears when you open up Sonar) that I've already deleted? I've deltede the song from my computer and it still shows up in my song list. Annoying!
Above the tracks to the right of the clock there is a pull down for All, Custom, Mix, FX, and I/O at 8:40 of the video. I noticed in other videos he has his basic tracks with no effects in the Mix tab and he has his tracks that have effects in the FX tab but on this tutorial he says to use this example as a template which is using the All tab. How are these meant to be used? What tab of the pulldown are the tracks supposed to be recorded prior to adding effects? What if you're recording a distorted guitar live, what tab should be used?
how did you get so many effects?? i bought the CD for this software... and i hav like about 10 effects.............. can u tell me how i can get all d effects ASAP???
thanks :)
and u are amazing,,.....
It's not necessary to select tracks before hitting the F key (fit) in order to automatically size them to fit in the window.
Try clicking on where it says "All" at the top right of the track, and it will bring those up...that solved the problem for me....
what preferences do i change to record with my mixer i just bought? I got a Behringer Xenyx X1204USB
Can I use my v-studio 20 hardware as interface for the guitar in sonar x1?
Hi,Thanks for posting those informative video's.I have a question.I'm working with the sonar v-studio 100 and sonar producer x1.The problem is that i can't record in 96Khz.If i go to driver settings and choose sample rate 96Khz the folowing message appears"The default audio is not compatible with one or more sound cards. It has been reset to 44100Khz(32bit),as suggested by the driver"That's very strage because the VS 100 is a 24 bit 96Khz full digital device.i work with win 7 64 bit. Thanks Paul
Hi, i have been watching your videos and tutorials and have found them to be extremely helpful. But i was wondering if by any chance would you happen to know why I only have about 8 or 9 effects under my audio FX tab? In this video at 13:00 I see that you have an extensive list of options and I cannot figure out why I do not. Thank you!
That looks like a good multi track studio program. I see it's from Cakewalk. I've heard in the past that they make good multi track studio software. It looks so quite a bit much like StudioOne though for sure when he first opens up the program. I never heard of this Sonar Producer before. I just seen something on Facebook saying Sonar X Producer Group. I always like to watch these videos even after I just only see a picture of another multi track studio software, to see what else for recording studio software is out there and see if there are other ones I might like even better.
Sonar looks almost like Studio one but, Cakewalk's Sonar has been around alot longer than Studio One.
Your tutorial is really good! I have never used any of these programs so I'm a dummy. It helps a lot, thank you! I do have a question though. How come you have so many audio effects? I only have a few, and I don't know how to get more. Like boost11 or something...
thanks it's very useful:::i have a question:
I don't understand why when i clic on FX i don't have the option Audio FX? somebody can halp me ? thank you in advance
U rock
A Question: I am not clear on why you open as normal and then delete the tracks and the bus. I thought so you can start clean on the tracks, but why the bus. I find it useful to have the master control here so I can monitor overall levels as I record. Thank you!
how did you get so many effects?? i bought the CD for this software... and i hav like about 10 effects.............. can u tell me how i can get all d effects ASAP???
thanks :)
and u are amazing,,.....
I know its the third comment, but im really in a hurry!!!!!!!!!!! if anybody knows, please tell me ...

It is very important. :D
Would you recommend that I upgrade from Sonar X1 Studio to Sonar X1 Producer? I get the feeling that if I really want to make professional recordings - I'm going to have to upgrade. Are there some fundamental features (or whatever) that are really worth the extra $100-200?
nice video, Sonar is the best
Sonar X1 and Sonar X2 are totally monumentally more advanced than Cool Edit. The things you can do in Sonar is total musician - producer support. Cool Edit is largely just a wave editor with multichannel support.
Once you get into this - you will find the considerable depth of Sonar is amazing.
how do I control record level, and the playback level seperately. Also my guitar rig in x1 pro expanded doesn't work.
do you know how to apply the pitch bend effect? If anyone could that would help me SOOO much.
Hello there got a question. I can only here what I'm recording through direct monitoring so I can't hear any affects I put on until its recorded and I play it back any ideas. If it makes sense. Also I don't have the volume pan and input bits on my tracks do you have to select that option? Cheers good tutorial.
Your tutorials are awesome! Thank you I have been going back and forth between x1 producer and Pro tool 9 , And in turn….Confused the fuck out of myself Im trying to find a previous recording of a bass track in x1 producer but i cant find a clip bin with a listing of all my tracks and the different takes.
does anybody know if projects from earlier version of sonar, e.g. sonar 4 producer, are compatible with X1? thanks!!!
is there any effects i need for the overall drum bus?
I have a quick question.
I dont play and instruments but I am looking for some software with virtual instruments that I can use to create some music.
I want to be able to use Drums, Bass, and Electric/Acoustic guitars and effectively play them virtually to record my own drum beats and guitar riffs etc and arrange them to create my own songs.
Is this possible with this software? If not, can you make any suggestions?
Hi I have installed sonar on my laptop today and when I play a note there is always a delay would you know how to stop that thanks
I got missing plug-ins. What should I do? And my right click menu options are different from yours. Hope to hear from you soon.
hey. I need your help. When I recording my vocal, I don't here anithing on my headphones except, when I click on echo. How can I here my singing without echo.
Hi, REEAALLY need your help. im producing a Metalcore band and it requires the drums to be vary "punchy." so i channeled all the Session drummer tracks to one bus and put compression on it. dont really no what im doin haha but it kills the cymbals when there link in the same bus. i dont know how to get a clear punchy set of drums out of my track with out overpowering my mix :( anyhelp? effects? anything would be helpful THANKS!
Hey can you make some more vids focus on using the essential instruments and basically the "playing/recording" part? I really need to know how to play! I can't even get SI Drums to work on my copy of X2 Studio
can i use a instrument that i got off the internet on this Cakewalk SONAR X1 STUDIO software cuz i DON'T make my own instrument i just use the ones i get off the internet and will it work on my mixer board its called behringer
i noticed while watchin this that you have a few extra effects under the cake walk effects tab that i dont have in my software, like flanger and chorus and a few others. is this because u added them or did i do something wrong wen i installed the software?
hi, im new to Sonar x1. I need help with a vary common trick that stumps me everytime. I need to know how to create 2 different tempos in 1 song. Any help??
How successful is using half done Sonar 8.5 producer files in this?
Where can I find the second Video in this series?
Hi how come you have so much AUDIO EFFECTS, after i install the soft I only have like 10 effects that they come w, dont even have boost 11 or other effect that you have,,, help plzzzz
Sonar 8 had a little disc icon that made it easy to SAVE. Why doesn't x1 have that?
when I import audio and play it back on my X1, why is it clipping or garbling? Does this have to do with it being 64bits vs. 32bits? Thanks =)
once youve completed all your tracks how do you turn it into a single mp3 file that can be played without having sonar open?????
Export it as a mp3?
how you get all those audio Fx man? i got like 1/8th of all that you have
so i have a guitar track down on 1
i want to record a vocol on 2
can u help lil
im five years old....btw lol no clue
I don't Have all the effects.. in FX I only have in cakewalk there's only a list of 9 effect :( How do I get the boost11? and that long list that you showed us at 12:59... help
@OGFACER People say that you can't hear a difference between DAW's but I know I can. I switched from Cubase and for some reason, sonar sounds more open. I don't know how to explain it. Cubase sounded kinda "boxy". The built in plug-ins sound way better too. Although cubase has the best editing in the industry ;)
How to play with video song
hello, my name is Daniel and i´m from sweden.
i got a problem whit my sonar x1
i can´t ge the sound from my guitar or mic in the computer.
i got a apogee mimi-me SOUND CARD.
thankfol for help :)
I've heard this DAW sounds better than Protools or Logic. Personally, I prefer the sound of Logic over Protools but it is subjective.
to all friends how can i find a mode " Fade OUT " from sonar x2
Hi there! Do you know how to cancel metronome on Sonar X1 Le ?Thanks.
F3
Thank you.
Thanks for the the 23 second intro
+MCIHomeStudio The intro music was really cool, though. What was it?
hell yeah
I'm making the jump from v8 to x3 and am grateful for the quick once-over that this video provides. Just one thing, though; the audio quality of your voiceover is terrible. It's noisy and could use some compression. I love sonar so it breaks my heart that you aren't representing a little better. My comments are intended to help, not insult. Thanks for putting this online.
why haven't you shown us how to record the guitar??!!
Hello..I don't have all those audio effects
Oh and I also get no output sound... This is all new to me btw so please keep it in plain english for me :)
vai pros quintos dos infernossssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssitssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
lol why do you have only 1 drive?
Why don't I have as many effects to play around with?
Do you have Studio or Essential instead of Producer?
Erm, I actually think it's essential >_< Thank you!
Thanks a lot.. well done..
and seriously.. your name is.. Pippin?
lol.. cmon..
