So every order is a gurantee for the future and a promise to deliver the best German/French tough build aircraft for our customer in Atlanta. So. Thank you Delta and always happy landings.
I remember flying for the first time to the USA from Amsterdam in 1991 as a 13 year old girl and seeing the skyline of NYC - I was so excited, so happy .... I remember choosing a special song on my 'walkman' for each special destination and even today whenever I hear a certain song, I am back in that plane landing in a dream location. Back then the immigration line was long, but nothing too bad. Last time I flew to the US, the line was almost 2 hours long and that was sadly my 'sorry but never again' moment.
That moment of seeing the skyline is indescribable! I also made a whole playlist with special songs for this trip. Sad how these lines are always so long, but don’t let it keep you from visiting the US!
one of the only airbus jets I haven't flown on. I even got to fly the old a300 back in the olympic days as a kid. I ll have to get some seat time on one of these and bring the go pro
Love Amsterdam Airport! Will be coming all the way from australia in September, 24 hour trip 💀, great filming skills and commentary it really made me feel like I was on the flight, great job!
Thank you! I’m glad you liked it. Amsterdam is a great airport, have you been there before? Good luck on your 24 hours trip, which airport are you transferring? ;)
I flew into JFK twice (late 80's and early 90's) but never directly as even back then, the immigration lines were infamous. I've lately been flying into the US again and I'll always try to avoid having to go through immigration at JFK 🙂
Delta will finally be using A330 NEO from Heathrow to Los Angeles and JFK from March. I like A330 900NEO as my current favourite plane hopefully fly on 1 day
@@jsaviation Ive been on A330 300 that was great plane. But, to me I like the look of this over A350 and B787. I went on B787-9 last year to LA and back from Las Vegas on Virgin great plane too. Was annoyed a bit when supposed to fly with A350-1000 but was changed.
9:30 The speed brakes are being used nearly on every long haul airplane. In most cases planes need to fly a sudden speed that is requested by the controllers. Descending to NYC means you have tons of aircrafts in the air flying behind each other with a small distance on the same altitude. To stay in that chain and not to come to close to the plane in front of you it needs to deploy the speed brakes to reduce the speed. But always leave a hand on the leaver because you don't want to forget to put them down again. 😆
Descent using spoilers is very common on flights, whether they are widebody or narrowbody planes. So it's not exactly unique to American carriers, or widebody planes. If the plane needs to lose more altitude quickly then the spoilers will be deployed =]
Ahh that’s why, I never saw it before except those few times when flying an American carrier. Thank you for your explanation. Shows why I shouldn’t become a pilot ;)
Spoilers (speedbreaks) are also sometimes used to help reduce speed. It's normally the quickest way to kill speed in level flight. Also on some aircraft the spoilers are used in conjunction with the ailerons that are on the outer wing for turns to reduce stresses on the wings. Some widebodies the A330 included actually have a 2nd set of ailerons on the inner wing to actually help reduce these stresses.
@@AlanPlaks , the first thing I do to lower speed in flight (during descent) is actually to bring the throttles back, reduce engine power. It is not conventional to use the spoilers for the express purpose of reducing speed itself in flight, if I've still got thrust that I can reduce. That's standard procedure as obviously, descent is when you want to really kill speed and shed altitude. So throttling back is the #1 thing to do, and then using spoilers to dump even more lift and lose altitude. And yes, spoilers can be used to help roll the plane. However, that is not its primary role. That's the ailerons' main job. You can have aileron use without spoilers, but never spoilers in use for roll control without ailerons. As for the second set of ailerons on the A330 that you're referring to....both of them are still considered outboard ailerons. They're right next to each other at the tip end of the wing. The Boeing widebodies have an inboard aileron/flaperon in addition to the outboard one. The older Airbus models such as the A300/A310 also had an inboard aileron. But all newer Airbus planes have outboard ailerons only.
In terms of spoilers midflight, it's used all the time, especially in a traffic-heavy area such as new york. I had a 20 minute landing video and about 10 minutes of it included spoilers. Also I am flying a very similar route this winter as I am going to Prague (my first time in Europe) and connecting through AMS, and might even extend the trip by 2 days to visit amsterdam itself.
A330 neo with RR engines sounds a lot quieter than B777 GE90, I flew times btw AMS and JFK all with KLM, didn't get the opportunity to fly Delta 's A330 Neo, which will definitely be my 1st choice next trip to AMS .... Only Neo not Ceo ( a330 -300)
The A330neo is indeed way more quiet on board. You should definitely try Delta’s A330neo, it’s a very comfortable aircraft. I hope you enjoyed KLM and AMS!
Thank you for sharing your long-haul flight. Did you get a chance to go to an airline lounge? Delta is a SkyTeam Alliance Member so, was there a lounge close by?
I didn’t go to the lounge for this flight. Delta uses KLM Crown lounge at AMS, which is lounge 52. I’ve been there multiple times during my work at the airport and it’s a great lounge, it has recently been completely renewed. The lounge is between the F and E pier, where most Delta flights leave as well so it’s quite close to the gates. When the flight departs from the D-pier then it’s about a 15 minute walk but this doesn’t happen that often
@@jsaviation That is good an airline lounge was close by you trip here. That is one of the items I look at as well. How close I would I be from a membership lounge as well. So many airports these days do look very nice from either originally being built and from their renovations as well.

@@LMays-cu2hp The lounge shouldn’t be that far away, but for some gates it can be quite far. AMS has a service called Meet and assist where they bring you to the gate etc by car, but it costs quite a lot. I agree that a lot of airports look good!

My internship was with the assistance at Schiphol so we handled every single flight at the airport. But the delta flights were my favourites to handle. I want to work with KLM 😄
great video , i always wanna fly Delta A330 neo since the airline debuted , last August I booked DL 330 neo from JFK to Barcelona via AMS, at the day of departure, Delta switched old Northwest era A330 ceo with old PW engine, I definitely will try again this year for the A330 neo, perhaps JFK to CDG has higher chance not to get last minute switch to 330 ceo?
Ahh that’s bad! I’ve seen delta switching their A330neo at AMS so many times. I think CDG has a better chance not to get the last minute change indeed. But I heard CDG sucks to transfer at tho
Great, fun video! Was the plane as empty as it seemed, or did you just not capture all the passengers. My next DL long haul is April. MCO-ATL-TLV, then TLV-JFK-MCO. Can’t wait. A350 outbound. A330-9 return.
Thank you! The plane was quite full, we boarded very early so that’s why it looked so empty. Looks like you have some great flights ahead! The Delta A350 looks good, I’d love to try it one day. Enjoy your trip
It's not so much that DL "doesn't like" the 787.....they already have a big fleet of A330's, so that's the likely reason they went with the A330neo. For flights that require longer range, they have the A350. But I agree it would be cool to see the 787 in DL colours.
@@sergiolaurencio7534 , that's an interesting thought...because DL was one of the very, very few airlines that kept their 777's 9-across in economy, even though all other airlines had converted to 10-across. But if I'm being honest, I'm not sure the 787 will ever make it into the DL fleet, even with the 767s retired.
