Damn, youtube be flooding my feed with Nicko these days. Retirement well earned, and rode into the sunrise with his custom Iron Maiden Jaaaag, towards the nearest golf course, for a round and a pint.
WhoDarestheMAN gamer it really isn’t. He’s a phenomenal drummer and everything he plays isn’t “fucking easy”. He can do crazy things on the bass drum with only one foot. Wicker man for an example. That song is far from easy to play. And remember everything is recorded with a single pedal.
@WhoDarestheMAN gamer You can send how many videos of ''a real drummer'' you want. All we want to see is you playing some drums since you're apparently a god. Btw does a song need to be difficult to be good? I mean Nickos drumparts are perfect for the songs he plays. There are more ways to be a good drummer than be able to play difficult drumparts!
@WhoDarestheMAN gamer I've been playing for years and I still can't master his techniques. His masterful bass playing and his amazing fills are still such a wonder. You may be able to play a basic heat over an iron maiden song but by no means does that make his drumming "fucking easy" and yes, he ain't the most technical out there, but he doesn't have to be. He needs to be the drummer for the band. He plays well to the song, not lots of solo work. That's the mark of a great drummer, he helps the song sound better. Someone like Scott Lang wouldn't work as well because he's way too technical and wants to shove so much shit into one song, while Nicko plays the music to make the song better.
Your opinion is kind of "popular" and "cool to have" nowadays. I appreciate it, however it is a matter of perspective and taste really. If it fits - it fits. I personally think some Iron Maiden songs would have sounded better with double bass drums - here and there. Again - matter of perspective. "Less is more" - another widely used cliche is not always true - but sometimes. It is a bit subjective, but yeah. Cheers.
@@dmitryowens - I'm fine with two kick pedals as an occasional effect. But I'm definitely not into the constant "budda-budda-budda" in every second drum video on IG either! 😅
Nicko Mcbrain is without a doubt, the man. He is a phenomenally gifted artist, he stands alone as the world's greatest drummer, just stop and take a look at how many other great drummers try to emulate him
He is great, but you're ignorant and insane if you think there aren't better drummers out there. Just listen to progressive rock and metal drummers. People like Danny Carey and Mike Portnoy would eat him for breakfast, no offense to Nicko. He's just not on alot of people's level, sorry.
Somebody said once that Iron Maiden fans have the terrible costume of saying its members are the best of the world in their instruments, ahahahahah! I found one here!! Come on... Nicko is competent and charismatic, but he is not even the best rock drummer, let alone the "best of the world".
WhoDarestheMAN gamer Dude, I know very well that after six months, you could barely play just a basic eighth note beat without your arm cramping up. You also couldn’t change from hi-hat to ride without losing the beat. You made everyone else have to start over because you sucked so much

No se porque pero nicko me hace recordar a la cara de la mascota de maiden. Se ve tierno no es en mala onda. Jaja si toca muy poderoso el hombre. A rockear se ha dicho!
This is partly what endeared Nicko to Iron’s fans right from the start - as well as completing the set for the single most ugly band in metal history at the time. They matured well though, some would say - makes no difference, his workshops and passion for his craft coupled with the discipline in recreating Clive’s drum parts with little or no improvisation showed fans that he respected Clive’s work and tried his best to faithfully stick to the patterns that Clive had obviously immortalised in 99% of his drumming - aside from Hallowed, which did evolve and for the better, he clearly had no desire to be pretentious about the role and is why he’s an absolute legend with a 40 year solid contribution to Maiden as a whole - he’s a remarkably grounded man and I’ve rarely heard a bad word said against him. He’s an incredibly humble man who has been justly rewarded for his dedication by a lifelong cult-like following of the world over. They’re all passionate about what they do and still give the crowds a thoroughly energetic performance considering their ages - Nicko is an old man playing well into and beyond the average retirement age of most of us mere mortals mortals. At 54 there’s no bloody way I’m anywhere near as fit and I’m a veteran of the British Armed Forces - I feel like I’m 72 already, I’m falling to bloody pieces - my knees are shot to buggery, my right eye is constantly looking elsewhere of it’s own accord, or point-blank refusing to work in harmony with its counterpart on the left. I love them all and have done since first hearing them in 1987 when they were already dominating the genre. They’ve been accused of sounding repetitive but I fail to understand how that’s a legitimate criticism considering they’re still able to fill arenas and stadiums across the globe even now. Shit I rant on like a bloody war-time fishwife yapping away all day with the latest in gossip. Long live Nicko! Long live Maiden, and long live their fiercely loyal following - still bringing new young fans into the fold year after year! 😉👍🤘🏴
Nicko is, and has always been one of the most underrated, phenomenally technical, and energetic drummers to ever play drums! Just listen to the opening track from "piece of mind" "where eagles dare" that drum intro is brilliant, and instantly sets the pace for what is known as "IRON MAIDEN"!!!! If you can even play that intro on drums yourself, your a liar if you can say it's not hard to duplicate....
He doesn't play a double pedal unless it's a very recent addition to his set up. I saw something as recent as his Book of Souls set up and it's a single bass drum and a single bass drum pedal. I saw this video hundreds of times in the 90's, and Nicko's still my idol. I looked at it again these recent days, and I understand now that something is problematic with this pattern at 25:30, when he switch from 16th to 32th: normaly the accents when he plays 32th should be played always with the same hand comparded to the 16th version, because he's going from a 3 notes pattern which leads to alternate sticking, to a 6 notes pattern which leads to accent always with the same hand. In my opinion he's playing an odd number of strokes which are note exactly 32th, but something in between like septuplets or something like that

So refreshing to see a metal drummer playing single bass. So much more musical than 99.99% of the double bass drummers out there.
For sure. I can't stand all these robotic new school metal drummers who use excessive super-fast double bass - it's so boring.
