SwitchWatch loved the game bought it for iOS originally but picked it up again for Switch where it played & looked better. But like you say it’s a very short and simple game & overpriced on Switch which is something I think Nintendo is given an easy ride for compared to other platforms.

This is my go to channel for Switch E-Shop games. Always find you guys to be authentic and genuine with your reviews, which is why I always watch the videos to determine my next purchase on Switch. Good job Juan and the rest of the team!
Also, to answer your question about mobile games. Personally, most mobile games are too overpriced on the Switch. The experience of bringing the game with you can obviously already be done on a mobile phone, so the only selling point might be the alternative Switch play choice, which is using it on the big screen. However, this game interested me at approx. $20 USD before I did some research and found out this game is on iPhone for $5 USD 😂. I might check it out on mobile first before spending the extra cash on the Switch version.

If the port feels like it BELONGS on the console then I'm fine with it. Obviously there are some extra steps to porting over a mobile game, but if a company wants to bring over their mobile game to the Switch system, they need to make it FEEL like a Switch game instead of a mobile game just on the Switch.

Great review as always. The game appeared to me a lot during his pretty design and the atmosphere. I also love puzzle adventures. But I somehow get the feeling that the Switch has A LOT of ports from mobile games. Just because it is a portable console means not that it should be on it by any means and at a higher price, too. It leaves somehow a sour taste to it.

Idk if this is what you’re trying to say exactly, but wow...that’d be AMAZING if Nintendo had a division and/or team dedicated to creating new and rehashing old characters into smaller, less expectation to create new and awesome stories and games. Almost like a little breeding ground or beta place to see what they can do with no demand such as Zelda where the next game has to be fricken breath of the wild type amazing to see Nintendo not take something super serious like all their main IP’s.

In my opinion, you can never have too many games so long as they are of a decent quality. The mobile ports offer a great library of affordable games, although the price increase like with Old Man's Journey can be a bit jarring. Overall though, having more options is never a bad thing even if some bad games squeeze through along with the gems. After all, it's not like having these mobile ports are costing us any of the bigger games that people want to see.

I feel like these touch screen point and clicks would be better purchased on a 10 inch tablet. Half the time you just end up using the touch screen and the switch/switch lite screen makes things look tiny, especially text.

I think mobile ports are ok but only to some extent. I'd like to see mobile mmorpgs go to the Switch but with better graphics and not just a direct port. When it comes to price, it's kinda sad that some mobile ports are double in their prices.
LJ Polintan yea it seems to be a strategic ploy by the devs. Go in high then cut the price later hoping to get some sales at the higher price.
Only solution is to hold off and wait for a sale, lol :D

I wish Nintendo would move into different areas of video games and be a little more edgy because I think they’d kick ass if they made continuously through smaller budgets and small assembled teams to make a presence in their own Eshop market. Other than their main games that get obvious spotlight...eshop has remained dedicated as a third party war zone. But I think Nintendo could get in on that action and create some frickin great content that would be able to breed possible new IP’s through very small risk (in relation to Zelda for instance) but very high reward. Anywho...there’s probably a reason why I’m who I am and currently jobless and not directing Nintendo’s future. HAHA but still, I think I’m saying something I bet they don’t really consider too much. There’s this expectation that the big N has got to turn out full on masterpieces for their customers and I’ll never ever say no to a Zelda, but I just think there’s some room for dessert...and games like Metroid can be reserved for your main entreé.

You can never have too many games. The more the merrier even if you personally dont like it. Why complain about more support on the system of your choice? Doesn't make sense.
PortableSwitch MaGe yeah that’s a fair point. More games gives more choice and it’s definitely better than not enough games, saying that some ports have been quite expensive compared to their mobile versions without adding/fixing any issues which feels a bit cheeky
SwitchWatch but not everyone has those other systems or care to play games on their phones. Again, It just isn't for you . Just like ports I never owned a Wii u so im not gonna complain about paying full price for a game no matter how old it is simply because it's new to ME. Not every game will cater to every gamer. Some people only own one system . So saying "oh you can get that cheaper on another platform" while may be true but I'll be paying more going out to buy that platform just to get a game for a cheaper price rather than paying more for it on a system I actually own and want to support. There's honesty no excuse to complain about it. If it's not for you then ignore it and move on.
PortableSwitch MaGe all very fair points. The whole point of the question is to stir debate and it's certainly done that. My review was to say if you have the ability to buy on mobile platforms then it's available at a cheaper price. Certainly not advocating buying another system just to buy a game cheaper. We only review games on Switch and support the Switch and we are not complaining about having too many games as it keeps us busy. Developers are bringing their games to the Switch which can only be good but looking at it from another perspective, there is also quite a few bad games being ported to the Switch and the devs asking for a premium price. I don't think that's always fair but I totally understand the strategy. That's why I am asking you guys the question. I want to know what you think. SwitchWatch yes it's the reason I bought a switch so early . It's my most played game over 80 plus hours in it. No it's not perfect but it's my wrestling game and I'm thankful for it and appreciate it for what it is. That just the type of gamer I am and probably because of how huge and dedicated of a wwe fan I am

There are too many. There are some good ones, like Pan Pan, but other than that I don't think they really need to be on there? I understand why mobile developers would want to but..

Pan-Pan was amazing. This one is funky so far though. I am kinda really not liking it at all.
Mobile ports are fine as long as they're kept cheap...many mobile games play better with the Switch control options.

I played the game and beat it like you said in one sitting. My review was about the same score as well, so spot on there with that. I really did like the art style and just wished there was a bit more to do. The game has zero replay value and was basically a once and done game.

I haven't played this yet, but I know the genre. Let me guess:
The old man's wife died after giving birth to their daughter (it's always a daughter), he raised her alone,
they became estranged, many years passed until one day, he receives a letter from her.
This letter is either a wedding invitation or a bid for financial help. And so he sets out on a "magical journey"
across the country (the kids always move to the other side) to reunite with her.
And eventually he meets her and all is well, except she has some bad news.
She's either in serious trouble or she has a fatal disease. Or perhaps she's not the way he'd imagined she'd be.
In any case, he's going to have to make a choice about giving her a kidney/say goodbye after just meeting/accept that
she's a bitch but also his daughter. But it could also be that she has a child of her own. And she wants grandpa to
take care of it, and he has to choose whether he wants the responsibility, or whether he sees it as an opportunity
to raise a daughter in the way he should've raised his own, had they not had a falling out, all those years ago.

WOW is all I can say 👌 I don't want to spoil it for anyone who is considering purchase but you are not far off except the Letter from the old lady is from an Alien pretending to be the lady so when the old man gets there he gets abducted and taken into space 😉

Mobile ports are no issue to me. However not interested in them as the price is not worth my Hard Earned Cash, henceforth known as "HEC".
However that being said; I am sure this game is very very good for kids. Helps them think about things. A lot gamers are excellent problem solvers because we spent more of our natural lives on games and solving mazes to finding a switch to open a door. This game is excellent for 4/5 and up perhaps? Not sure, in any case the 2 to 3 hours may be 10 hours of gameplay for a kid and a parent know that their kid is thinking how a train or bridge should be adjusted to keep things moving.

It's ok that it's over priced. It's the strategy for first day sales on games. Then there is a markdown a few times then discount permanently. Perfectly normal. If the gamer can wait, don't see the issue in pricing.

Yes there are too many mobile ports on switch. It wouldn't be so bad if there were more of the better quality ports like this game appears to be but there are many of the low end quality games that are selling for under £5 like all those 10ton games.
This game looks nice but based on what you have told me about the lack of challenge in the gameplay and the price I wouldn't buy it.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Too Many! It's getting ridiculous tbh. So many half ass games come from mobile that it clogs up the eShop. For every good game there is twenty poopy ports and ports of ports.

Well I have to say, I just pumped the game into my veins :) 💉 I actually enjoyed it, came here to read some comments :) I really recommend a Old Man's Goat Lover Story :) But to me it seems like the old man pleasured his goat 🐐 a little to much. Neither way, good game with a little bit sad ending :(

@@SwitchWatch I'm not liking it either 😔on TV it is horrible to play imo. Maybe if I go hand held and click with my finger instead....the controls are difficult to register and half the time my controller messes up. Its easy to fix with the center click button...
But just annoying and it gets me out of the experience.

This is one boring-arse game, whatever the platform.
Not really any complicated thinking in the puzzles at all. In my opinion this was like a pop-up book for hipsters.
If you dig the art style, go at it.
If you're on Steam, Chronology is much better.
That also has an old man embarking upon a journey but he's rolling with a time-travelling snail. Much better than pushing pastel hills up and down.
Story is 'meh'.
