For me; when I can't understand the vocals I try to think of them as another instrument. They still add so much value
yeah with deathcore and sub-genres akin to it, you're not always meant to be able to pick out every lyric. The main point of it most of the time is the sound and texture of the screams, not the diction. So I 100% agree.
That is essentially it for me. I love SLAM, but I understand nothing
It's also how you need to think of doom metal vocals
100% vocals are another instrument, a sound. Obviously you can pick out what they are saying after listening to it a few times but that's beside the point.
It's supposed to be human, and not just coming from a wooden instrument but it's, for me, more about the brutality.. The fierceness, that someone with a voice just like mine is emitting these heavy, gutteral or shrieking, intimidating, ANGRY fucking crazy noises.
The voice is an instrument.
It's insane how Will Ramos can be so Gutteral, and yet his clarity is incredible.
The change in clarity is what really put me on Lorna Shore, I didn't really like the previous vocalist (mixing) because of that. He's a legend!
He kicked it up a notch from a Wake in Providence. His voice is badass there, but sooooo much better here.
Can say from experience how hard clarity in volume is. Mad respect.

This is Blackened Deathcore. It's good to see you guys reacting to this track and having your mind blown away even though you're not a fan of deathcore.
You can’t deny the insane musical ability of the musicians and the dedication it must take the vocalist to have that strength and creat those sounds. Incredible. The more I hear this song, the more I love it.
Also, nice to see that even though on an initial reaction we didn’t love it, metal heads don’t get their panties in a bunch like doja cat and bts fans haha

And yeah I agree that we metal heads are far better and open minded than the fans of those pop stars lol.

I've been listening deathcore since 2004, and this song has the heaviest breakdown I've heard. It's disgustingly brutal.

Quite possibly the best deathcore song in years.
I literally listen to this song 3 times a day at minimum. My song and breakdown of the year so far. I didn’t think they would top Immortal, whether you hate CJ or don’t, that album still kicks ass. I listened to Will Ramos in A Wake In Providence and have to say he’s a perfect fit for this band.
I already pre-ordered the EP and can’t wait till they tour so I can see this insanity live

I played it in the kitchen whilst opening and scared my coworkers. They handled the song fine,but the ending, even my manager came out and asked what the hell I was listening to.

I dont listen to this type of music usually. I listen to mostly metalcore. That being said, this song made my playlist. I love the theatrical side of this song. Bands like shadow of intent and assemble the chariots are heavier than what i usually listen to, but they do what they do sooo well. 🤘

I think I'm just a smidgen leaning more toward Deathcore than you are. I love Deathcore, probably more than any other genre of music... But I hate most deathcore I've heard at the same time. Does that make any sense?
When you said you liked this song, and then go on to mention Shadow of Intent, I knew we were on the same page. I had the Reclaimer album by SOI on repeat, literally nonstop, for a ridiculous amount of time.. Like over a year, I listened to mainly that album, with other stuff sprinkled in hahah. It was stupid almost, I never got sick of it though.
Bad Deathcore... The stuff that doesn't have anything interesting going on vocally, except some gutteral slams and maybe one high used here and there... And also musically, just some open chugs and some like, a perfect example.. Suicide Silence. I like some of their songs, but it's a mystery to me as to why. They suck honestly, only Mitch's vocals were OKish... The guitarists blow weiner, couldn't write something interesting if they copied off Jason Richardson's test. I just hate bad Deathcore, so I'd always gravitate toward Metalcore, especially when I was younger, like Parkway drive or Alive or Just Breathing by KsE to name some of my favorites.
But at the same time my heart is with Deathcore, my top 5 favorite albums in no order has to be
The Discovery - Born of Osiris,
Exoplanet - The Contortionist,
Reclaimer- Shadow of Intent,
Awaken the Dreamers - All Shall Perish, and Courting Tragedy and Disaster - Himsa...
Those are all pretty damn deathcore lol. Except Himsa, that's the wildcard. I feel bad not including Horizons by Parkway Drive though. Hmm.. Maybe I like Deathcore more than I thought.
If you've got time and you feel like it, I'd love to hear your top 5 albums. Do your best of course, something as tough as a top 5 is ever changing, top five in recent history is OK. I just feel like we might have similar tastes, maybe you'll point me to something I just gotta listen to. Or maybe they'll all be some of my favorites too, always gotta love having stuff in common with someone. What are your thoughts on my top five? Sorry this is so long.. Will came outta nowhere and made an impact. One of the best vocalist I’ve heard and humans aren’t supposed to make the sounds he can make. His talent plus his personality makes him such a better artist as well. Sun//Eater is another one of my favorites
This started out as something I didn't want to listen to every day. And now I listen to this band constantly.

yup, his voice in that chorus is so similar to the one and only randy blythe. but i think blythe is one of the metal singer that can make you say "wow, i don't need lyrics everytime he singing with that deep scary voice". he's the only metal singer that can say the word "bones" perfectly lol

I listen to more punk/light screamo (lol) so this was the HEAVIEST artist I’ve ever listen to and…honestly I’m highly impressed with the musicality but I had to just sit in silence for 10 minutes trying to comprehend everything that happened cause…I don’t think I could regularly listen to this kind of music, but I respect the hell out of the band for how incredible they are.
It’s a sometimes food for us too haha
This is the first deathcore music I listened and I remember being so shocked and overwhelmed. The vocalist didnt just slay it. It was a MASSACRE!! 😂 And now I'm addicted to his voice 😁

I love the bands like this that go so hard but you hear the vocals really good. I remember when a docummentary came out for whitechapel and he even said he tries his hardest to deliver an amazing sound vocals and tries his best to make his vocals as clear amd clean as possible. This band does the same thing.

I found out about this band and this track just days ago, but man, I am hooked....this shit is gripping! I found out about them because they just dropped their amazing trilogy piece. My capability to understand the lyrics is somehow worse than when I listen to the old ladies of the neighbourhood speak in dialect but I love this ones. I do agree with you guys, they remind Lamb of God but much more heavier; I guess I'm gonna call Lorna Shore the God of lamb from now on.
I'm absolutely in love with the drummer; I'd listen to an album where there's just him drumming on whatever he wants. How many legs days he could have skip to train his arms? I think I won't be able to air play this song. Insane. Frick. Absurd.
I never heard this band before as I am quite new to metal in general, and I'm not into death core, but I mast listen to other tracks by Lorna Shore - are they X-men and Jordie shore fans? Cause that would make them cooler.

The way I explain my view of these vocals is I see them as another instrument. The lyrics are just another level I can dig into later. Diction isn't all that important. I've noticed I do the same to other music as well. I may listen to the lyrics but they're typically not processing on first listen, outside of rap.

I along with I'm sure thousands of others have been introduced to the wonderful world of deathcore through Lorna Shore and more specifically this song. I had the same mindset at first, "yeah this is sick, but I still won't get into it". I was very, very wrong lmao. I've heard this song so many times now and it still hits hard as.
You guys should check out Epica, A symphonic heavy metal band from The Netherlands. They released a new album in Febuary called Omega. I recommend Abyss of Time.
The double base is WICKED fast. The growl is sick. I agree, that is actually Satan singing.

Yeah it's not much of a cover. It's super edited and has so many layers stacked. It's barely even his voice in the cover. Makes me wonder if he can even do much live because this song is layered so much too. That cover is bad though.

The snarling pig like sounds you were hearing were actually inspired by Dickie Allen, the vocalist of Infant Annihilator. I’d recommend checking out the songs Unholy Gravebirth, Blasphemian, Swineacologist, and Soil The Stillborn.
