I have a Metz that 58 AF-2 that is rated GN 58 at 105mm.
You are right, but I would prefer that all the manufacturers would use the sama formula.

Olympus is not smart enough to use the Wifi capability on EM1 mk2 to trigger the FR-WR?
FungSwee Wong, then they can’t sell you a wireless commander unit.
Wifi has not got the wireless operating range this unit is designed for, and operates at totally different frequency. It would also prevent owners from using their smartphones as live monitors and remote shutter releases as the camera wifi only seems to actively pair with one device at a time.
So yes, they *could* have made it wifi compatible, but they didn’t. And if they did would have people complaining about those limitations I mentioned.
Do you know if these work with Panasonic Lumix cameras? The Lumix flash system at least used to be the same as the Olympus system, the flashes used to be cross compatible.
No I dont. The Olympus website only lists Olympus cameras that work with this system. I’ll ask and will let you know.

Look for a Godox flash. Not quite sure what model is the best one for E-M5 Mark II.
I bought the FL-700WR flash and the FC-WR commander. I can not get the FC-WR to trigger the off-camera flash. The flash works when on the camera. Would you do a video on how to set up the WR-WR commander?
Do you have them all on the same channel. That could be a topic for a video.

Thank you for your amazing content; it’s so helpful to understand this complex system! I have a FL-600R. I think you said that this flash can be radio controlled (off camera flash) by the FR-WR. Is this so? Or have I misunderstood. I usually use my 600R for hi-speed sync (FP) fill flash but the optical remote firing is unreliable. Will the FR-WR work?? Thank you for all your hard work.
Unfortunately, you need FL-700WR. FL-600R is not radio controllable. You need FR-WR with FL-600R and a WR flash (FL-700WR or FL 900WR) or FC-WR to trigger that flash with a radio.

About to buy the FR WR, any idea if it will work with the Panasonic Wireless flashes like the 580?
Peter, can you compare it against Godox TT350o regarding TTL accuracy and consistency and which one is a better buy?
Not sure if I can get a hold of a Godox flash. It would be interesting to compare.
Nice overview Peter. Good to see you giving an honest appraisal to Olympus. I use the Godox system with my Oly EM1 m2 and love it. Versatile, robust and multiple choices for TTL flash units and accessories (the AD200 is brilliant). The Olympus Flash is too expensive in comparison!
Tony Costanzo have you used TT350, how good is it on camera?
forgewire no sorry, I haven’t used that one. I have the V860II and AD200 which are more powerful units. I find they work quite well. I don’t use TTL too much but when I have it has been fine. No worse than my FL600R. The nice thing about the Godox system is that they are all compatible with their wireless system and can talk to each other or the remote transmitters and receivers. This will let you add flashes as your needs grow over time and at manageable prices. Good range of accessories too.
Tony Costanzo I’ve sold my FL600r and bought 2 V860 II and a trigger. I’m using them off camera and love them except it’s too big to use on camera. The only thing I like about FL600r is consistent TTL when used on camera. This is why I’m looking for someone with TT350 experience to see how it compares.
I have a question, It might be a stupid one, if I put this unit on an E510 will it work?
Most likely it won't. At least the radio control won't work.
Boo hoo...I rather get older Oly flashes which works on newer or older bodies.
