Useful little flash to keep in your bag and ready to go as it doesn't need batteries!
Absolutely!
@@RobTrek almost there (in UK) Merry Christmas!
This little flash is useful for macro shots too. It is not powerful but strong enough to take macro or close-up pics where the subject is only a few cm away. You can then use a smaller aperture for a better DOF
Thanks for sharing. Makes perfect sense to use this flash for macro.
This flash is great as a commander flash. I use it with a Metz ring flash, and it integrates perfectly. All camera manufacturers should include one of these. If you can't give us a popup flash, give us one of these.
All the best for Christmas, and thanks for all the great content over the last year.
Not many youtubers would go to the extent you have here to answer a question, we appreciate your dedication. I have learnt a lot from your channel.
I ended up buying one of these because it is weather resistant from memory. Wish they still included these because I can but a Godox TT350o for the same price when they are on special.
Happy holidays!
Merry Christmas, Rob. Thank you for what you do!
Merry Christmas, Thomas! Thank you for all your support over the years.
I have two of these small flashes. I use them occasionally for close up work. They work great for that purpose.
Yes they are!
Happy holidays, Rob! You're such a hard worker. Please know that you are appreciated by so many. Question: Do the WB and other changes I make in the camera change the raw file?
Thanks. Happy holidays!
I'll try to answer it. I can't see the raw files in camera unless I shoot in raw only mode. You can then do raw data edit in camera and view the jpeg results. With taw + jpeg it shows only the jpeg in camera. Trying shooting in just raw mode, I took photos at 6000 and 3000K custom white balance and got the obvious colour difference. Then in raw data edit I created a jpeg from the 3000K photo at 3000K and one from the 6000K photo changing it to 3000K and the two jpegs look exactly the same. As for the raw files themselves, they look different for the ones I shot in raw only mode but maybe it's just that they're displayed on screen with the originally set colour balance. Changing it in raw data edit, I seem to be able to create any colour balance I choose afterwards to make a jpeg. However, there is no option in raw data edit to do the subtle yellow blue and green magenta changes Rob did here. Perhaps you can set those on the super control panel before doing raw data edit. Each colour mode seems to let you change those subtle balances separately (except CWB mode). I hope this helps. I'm looking at my EM5 Mk iii but EM10 Mk ii is pretty similar.
You know what? I will try to make a video on my little channel to show what I wrote in the other answer.
ISO is really the only thing that affects raw. White balance is set in raw, but not baked in. So you can change white balance of raw files in post processing.
Good video Rob! Especially, the explanation of adjusting for incandescent color cast. I personally don't have any issue with shooting at 1/60 with flash hand held, and I would probably want to use f/5.6 rather than f/8 @ ISO 800 or 1600 -- at those settings the LM3 puts out a decent amount of light. If I have any idea that I'm going to be shooting a large group, or in a challenging situation, it's worth the effort to use my Nissin i60A -- I love that flash! Thanks for sharing your experience and skill with others.
Thanks! A little push on ISO solves a lot of problems.
Great informative video I like the way you teach
Thanks!
Thanks! Happy New Year 🎉!
Happy new year!
The FL-LM3 is now supplied with the OM-1, at least in Asia (I am in Taiwan).
Thanks for the info.
Thx for the video and help 😊 I'll watch it again for next time 😊 it's a mighty little one, but not at all for such task 😅 the table was about 15 people on each side of the rows, so it failed taking such photos. But my wife was in focus, so I guess the most important got in focus 😅😊
Merry Xmas 😊 don't eat too much, because I did, and now I'm so full 😅
Merry Christmas, Villiam!
Great video. So good to get a response to questions in time for Christmas! As a keen M43 amateur, getting keener, your channel was a real for me this year Rob.
Thanks! Happy to help.
Hello Rob. Thank you for this video. But the problem I have is that it looks like that my flash semm does not work with the camera almost at all. I have E-M5iii camera. Now the flash seem to work only in case when I use "AUTO" camera mode. Otherwise the flash symbol is grey and flash is not flashing. Coulld you just make a short video on how to use the flash in a basic way, for example to make "simple" photos outside when it is rather dark. Thank you and Merry Christmas!
Hi, Sergyey. I answered your question in a new video here: ua-cam.com/video/MX2lE_DwY4U/v-deo.html Hope it helps. -Rob
It is helpful. Thanks a lot!
Hello from New York City! What is do you think about using color correction gels on flash such as CTO and CTB? Thank you for informative video.
Hi. Sorry I haven't replied to your questions yet. I'm working on a video to address it. Short answer is I don't use correction gels for correcting color of light output. In a studio, maybe, but not in the field. Typically there are too many variables when in the real world.
Is there a way to see the exposure meter (EV) in A and S modes on the OM-1? As you show in the video, it works in manual mode. I've noticed that the histogram and live view seem to always show a good exposure in A and S, and only seem to correctly work in manual mode. [Edit] This is mostly a problem with shuttler priority since you cannot determine how over or under exposed the image will be.
You have to pretty much rely on the histogram in PAS. Since the camera will adjust at least one of the three exposure settings automatically, the ev meter will only work as the exposure comp indicator.
Hi Rob, hope you are well. Thanks for the video, really useful and very timely. I'm having problems with my em1 mkii, occasionally when I look through the evf it's just black, doesn't look as if it on, nothing whatsoever, basically I just have to switch it on and off again, any suggestions why this might be and possible solutions. I've formatted the SD cards but still no enjoy. I hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy NEw year and thanks for all your hard work.
Hi, Wally. I addressed your question in a new video here: ua-cam.com/video/MX2lE_DwY4U/v-deo.html I'm not sure if it will solve your problem, but take a look. Also, another viewer suggested changing the the EVF brightness to Auto.
@@RobTrek thanks so much Rob, a real gent as always. Hope you have had a good Christmas and here's wishing you all the best for New Year.
Thank you so much for this video. I’m facing a problem with my flash. When turned on, the shutter speed is limited at 1/50 and I cannot rise it. I tried to change the configuration at flash sync and also slow limite to 1/250 but still not working. Do you have any idea how to change it to have higher speeds than 1/50?
Thank you so much!
Glad it helped. You are probably in silent shutter mode (heart+square icon). Change your shutter mode to mechanical (square or diamond+square).
@@RobTrek yes!!! thank you so much. I was quite disapointed because I coundn' t find the solution and I was limited. =)
Hi hi ^_^ i am a lumix s5 shooter and i was wondering if this flash will work on my camera??
I've read that it works fine in the forums, but I don't have an S5 to test it myself.
@@RobTrek okidoki, thank you ^_^
Thanks!
Thank you!
