Even if none had guns and only other kinds of weapons, an ambush from all 7 on each side of the road would be it. There was nothing much to do, leaving was the right and only choice given the circumstances. I hope he understands this one day.

Notice all specific details are missing and only the core story is there? Nobody mentions a side anecdote of any type, like they remember being sweaty or shivering, etc.

He was definitely not a coward. He's human, and all humans get scared. He was alone, and did the right thing. Any police officer will tell you to follow your gut, and he did just that.

Calling for backup was the right thing to do and those people aren't still out there because of you, they're out there because they want 2 be. My dad was a deputy sheriff when I was younger. I can remember at least 2 times my family would have to leave home for for a while because of some threat from someone my dad had busted.

Because when you're a cop who takes his duty to protect the public seriously that's the mindset that you have. The best way to tell right away if someone is following you: Turn on your turn signal well in advance of an intersection, if a car is following you they will likely turn on their signal soon after, then just don’t turn. If they don’t want to give away that they are following you, they have to turn, if they don’t turn then you can decide what to do from that point now knowing for sure they are in fact following you.
I used to narrate horror stories and this man puts what i pictured i could do right into context! Great going mate. I honestly find myself listening to your stories more than bigger youtubers such as Dr Nightmare, Corpse Husband, UNIT #522, etc. Well worth my time to listen to your man good stuff
For the officer who saw the parked car alone side the road, these guys were going to kill you, you were alone and you being a policeman didn't matter to them, I think you did the right thing that night by getting back into your car, another time and place for them I'm just glad to know that you still have your life.

I distinctly recollect some guy in the hitchhikers scary stories (I think) had also come across seven or something dudes waiting to ambush him. And he described one of them as having a and I quote “mask out of the purge films”. So I think that second cop found those very same guys

Bro the second story doesn’t add up, it is universally mandatory for all new officers to go through a 12-16 week FT training before they get released on their own.
I had one friend in high school who got arrested for a day, and when he came back he said that while he was there one prisoner who came it ALMOST got control of a gun but his officer was putting him up when he saw the guy going for the gun. I think if him and that officer weren't there there would have been a shoot out in my town.
I work with some retired police officers one I got friendly with I asked him what his first real call as a new police officer was. He said one of his first calls where he was scared a call to a Walmart where it was reported someone had a gun and fired it in the store. He was the closest he got there first and they are trained to go as fast as they can to the person in case, they have to stop a mass shooter. Turned out a guy had gotten into an argument with an employee in sporting goods and fired his gun up into the ceiling. The guy claimed it was an accident he only wanted to scare the employee of course he was promptly arrested. First week on the job and running into a possible mass shooting situation. He said lot of thoughts went through his head had two young children and newly married wife at home. Even with all the training not until you really face possibility of being shot and killed start to understand the risk. He ended up retiring after 20 years.

I had one friend in high school who got arrested for a day, and when he came back he said that while he was there one prisoner who came it ALMOST got control of a gun but his officer was putting him up when he saw the guy going for the gun. I think if him and that officer weren't there there would have been a shoot out in my town.
2nd story, “ran like a coward”. A “live” coward. One person can’t take on a dozen!
I work with some retired police officers one I got friendly with I asked him what his first real call as a new police officer was. He said one of his first calls where he was scared a call to a Walmart where it was reported someone had a gun and fired it in the store. He was the closest he got there first and they are trained to go as fast as they can to the person in case, they have to stop a mass shooter. Turned out a guy had gotten into an argument with an employee in sporting goods and fired his gun up into the ceiling. The guy claimed it was an accident he only wanted to scare the employee of course he was promptly arrested. First week on the job and running into a possible mass shooting situation. He said lot of thoughts went through his head had two young children and newly married wife at home. Even with all the training not until you really face possibility of being shot and killed start to understand the risk. He ended up retiring after 20 years.
