    If you're new to growing squash, pay attention to the knife he's using, with the serrated edge. That will save you a lot of hassle over a smooth edge blade when harvesting.

    I grow them in New Zealand and they do really well in summer. I slice them up finely and saute them in butter as a vege and with bacon and eggs for breakfast. I have used them in home made soups and stews. You can grate them and make them into fritters, add them to canned sweet corn for fritters - even add some grated cheese to the fritters.

    I grow them every year. Slice into circles just like you'd slice a tomato. Dip in egg and then in mixture of corn meal and flour. Use a lot of salt and pepper, and then fry them in oil in a skillet! That's the best way in my opinion. Try it out!

      My grandma used to dice them and add some diced onions. Mix up a thick batter add it and some salt and pepper probably some garlic and make a small pancake. I was small don't have any exact measurements for it. She probably didn't either but I liked them. Growing some now and looking forward to trying it myself 🤣🤣👍

      I slice them thinly and saute in butter, or I chop and add to stews, or make cream soup with them, and I grate them and turn into fritters with cheese added.

    I have 4 of these squash plants in my garden here in Columbia County, Wisconsin. They are Peter Pan squash, cousin to the Patty Pan, but as you can see they stay light green. Their flavor is different than the Patty Pan, as the Patty Pan tends to have a nutty flavor. The Peter Pan resembles more a Zucchini or a Kohlrabi in flavor. We sauteed them and they've been good, maybe a bit bland. Grilling them with olive oil and Parmesan is my next experiment for cooking the Peter Pan squash :-)

    What a beautiful garden!!! What fertilizer and pest control do you use on your squash? I think the party pan should be harvested a bit smaller for tenderness, I slice them and stir fry them with other garden veggies, they're very good, had a nutty flavor

    I just watched this video and I was planning on planting patty pan squash. Since I'm an urban gardener I use grow bags. Do I plant just one seed per grow bag or can I squeeze in 2 in a 15 gallon bag

    • @PlantSmartLivingNOW
      @PlantSmartLivingNOW  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Raizel, that’s a good question, if it was me I would probably just plant one seed per grow bag so there would be plenty room for root growth and for the leaf foliage to spread out, or you could do an experiment and put one seed in one bag and two seeds in another bag and see how they both do. I hope this helps and I hope you have a bountiful garden season!

    Thanks for the video sir. Im growing these as well - I have some yellow smaller ones, but there is a also a few large ones that haven’t turned yellow yet (similar to the ones in your video) I was waiting for the larger ones to turn yellow but after watching your video, I think I will harvest them.
