- Since the clutch was adjusted, I have been waiting to take the E Type for a quick spin around the block. Fortunately, I live in a quiet subdivision that has a 1-mile plus loop.
We have had a week of rain but finally the sun came out yesterday.
The car covered 6 miles and got me home. All seems okay with the car except for some relatively minor issues. My speedo is not working, the fuel gauge appears to be not working (hmmm?) and I need to adjust the clutch a little more.
I still have all my suspension settings to adjust and set up but overall, it was THRILLING to finally take the car outside and drive her.
Master mechanic Joe Joe and Wayno (aka, Le Petite General) were brave enough to venture out as part of the ride. Joe Joe is wary of E type brakes based on an interesting ride in my V12 S3 and Wayno managed to stay awake for 3 miles but had to get back to cut his grass.
John
Yip and lots of EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. Great milestone Well done. Hugh
That was great John. The colour is absolutely stunning in the sunlight.
That is so awesome coopes nothing more exciting than the first ride. Especially when you can pick up a couple clowns. Nice job mate nice job
Loveable clowns - well at least Joe Joe is.
John, you guys are going lightspeed! It was super thrilling to watch you drive it for the first time and brought back memories for me when I finished my build. I love that you stuffed your two neighbors in on the maiden voyage LOL!
Hi Danny - thanks - Joe Joe is used to riding shotgun in an E type with no passenger seat (and iffey brakes). For Wayno (Le Petite General) it was a new experience. Wayno did leave with new knowledge and felt fulfilled by pointing out things that still need doing. LOL
Nothing better than that view over the bonnet!
OMG YES! I spent two weeks under that hood scraping off the Ziebart thinking of the final look. Every second of that work was worth it.
@@johncooper6950 Ziebart and Ol Rusty Jones made a mess, but it served it's purpose. Congrats on the first drive, this has been one of the fastest overhauls I've ever seen on an E-type. It took me a month just to get a set of new Vredsteins for mine!
Hello John, just a small note to say how helpful I found your video’s. I purchased a series 2 FHC 4.2 in January of this year which required an engine rebuild of which I conducted myself at home hence your engine videos were of much assistance. My car is all done now and I’m enjoying it, yours has come out lovely and I hope your having fun in yours too. Take care and thank you again. Regards. Ray
That is so awesome. I am glad they help. I try to show the good, the bad and ugly, keeping it as honest as possible
All those Bradford Pear trees are making my hayfever go bonkers... So So pleased for you John... what a thrill. I wasn't aware that the E-type was an approved off road vehicle ;-)
It is now!! LOL - Thank you, thrilling day yesterday
Awsome John, it's great ot see it running after all these years of you hardwork and passion ❤.
Goofy men and jag. What fun!
Amen to that!
Congratulations, you’ve got to feel a great sense of accomplishment
Hey Grant - Thanks - it has been a journey - still some way to go yet but it is getting there. You know how it goes - you just keep going.
Nice one John, can't wait to hear your reaction after this first drive....
My reaction - honestly, it was a mixture of excitement, trepidation, fear, shitting a brick, relief and pure joy. And that was just reversing out of the garage. LOL
The proof is in the driving so yesterday was a big day. It has taken 2.5 years to get this far!
@@johncooper6950 It was 3 years for mine…..
Congratulations, beautiful !!
What a beautiful car! Great job!
Thank you :)
The Jag is looking great. Nice work!
Your old man helped out too!
@@johncooper6950 yeah he told me he's been helping with the clutch and brakes
@@kjk11719 And the engine installation, the rear suspension installation, engine start, and .............
Congratulations!!!
Thank you!
Congrats. Nice car.
Thank you
How nice is that? 🏁
Thrilling day yesterday!
This is a really gorgeous color. What is it from? What is the color called?
This is a current production Aston Martin blue. It looks even better than in the video.
@@johncooper6950 Do you have a paint code for this color?
