Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn! 2 Peter 3:10-13 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed. Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn! But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

You might have got that wrong. If the asteroid is 340 meters thats only 0.211 miles. Now depending on how fast and the angle it comes in at. Not to mention if it more rocky than metal. It still will not take out the planet. It would be a city killer. But also the earth is mostly made of water. Which if it landed there you wouldn get much effect at all. The one that wiped out the dinosaurs was 6 to 7 miles which equals about 11,265 meters. A big difference.

Quick physics lesson: inertia moment
The equation for calculating inertia is I=MV², with M being mass and V being velocity. This means that a tenfold increase to velocity is the same as a 100-fold increase to mass. 1/10 of the mass at 10x velocity yields an inertia 10x higher.
