- Garo's innovative line of consumer units have loads of great features. With lots of wiring space, clear labelling, effortless knockouts, and a great selection of protection devices it leads to effortless installation for electricians.
In this video, part 2 of the series - we start to get into the thick of things, completing the wiring and installing the circuit protection devices.
Now imagine effortlessly replacing a consumer unit in a cramped understairs cupboard where all the circuit cables are too short and need extending......its not always this glamorous 😄
Couldn't of said this better 👏
Or in one case I've seen they built a wall in front of it, thankfully I was only there to fault find rather than replace
Amen brother
Good comment.
i can imagine 1000 other situations, so i conclude that i should leave all leads with at least a 50ft service loop for any changes 100 years in the future.
This is the perfect scenario. In the field, you'll never run into the perfect scenario. 😅
Like in a plant environment where the dust makes wire color identification nearly impossible.
@@awakenedtotruth8419 All these residentia/commerical electrician videos popping up on my recommended make me realize how good these guys have it compared to their industrial counterparts.
Where's all the dust, grease, metal shavings, and unknown liquids that usually cover everything? Lol
That's not even mentioning the intense heat and noise in most of these environments too 😂 All while working hoisted to a scissor lift 30-something feet high that shakes like crazy with every little move you make.
@miguelzavaleta1911
Well put 👏🏿
Also the "are we there yet?" is multiplied 19X a shift. I tried to leave the box better than I found it at least b4 the camera phone was invented 🤣😆
It must be heaven to start from scratch.
Yup, always loved doing installation. Its the servicing that’s a pain in the ass because a lot of people don’t take pride in their work and just leave it looking like a mess.
Master electrician, use ferrules on stranded wires for a 100% great contact and no fail for decades to come!
I was looking for this comment. Ferrules are required for stranded wire.
im sure theres a video from @efixx talking about the use of ferrules! its a must have on any decent tool box, what a fail guys. also im not sure if you should fit a consumer unit onto OSB board, but i must admit thats a training cubicle.
The only stranded cable in that video was the main tails, and I’ve NEVER seen a consumer unit fitted with ferrules on the main tails tbh
Ferrules are for flexible stranded, not regular stranded like in this video
@@fauxque5057yes and now use them correctly aswell, we all know ferrules are required and very much preffered but a lot of people don't know you're not even supposed to twist them. And i've seen ferrules that were crimped with a pipe wrench. So yeah
Man as a Canadian electrician I'm so jealous, your panels just make so much sense, so clean and simplistic. I'm an industrial guy tho and the British resi stuff looks more like the industrial stuff we use.
Wish they would make those main switch terminals deeper.
yeah why on earth are they so short with UK panels? I can fit definitely 16mm of wire under german terminals.
Should all have double screw too
Lovely to see a job this neat but not difficult when everything is new and new instal!
First electrician, I've actually seen do a really nice neat job.
It's like looming in telecommunications.
Pity the first test thats carried out is going to wreck the layout 😂
So true
Those sound effects lol 😂🎉

Beautiful!!
I wish America would use those style boxes.
America needs a rewire, to a national grid of 230 volts 50 hertz to begin with.
@davidreilly1031 I currently work for a Municipal utility. That would be great, but having now seen behind the curtain, it's amazing we have electricity at all still.
Edit: not disagreeing with you at all. My statement was confusing.
Man I love watching you work so quiet and professionally..
Here in Greece, most electricians are so dumpies, so foul of nothing in the art of working.. great job 👏 👍 keep on...
Ti le re malaka
Only spec missing was the torque wrench topjob
Wait for part 4
There are many better professional electricians at the comments as always 😂
Yes, I only ever held an apprentice repairman's licence, and I know much better than an old-timer like this 😏😂
Beau travail !
Impressionnant !
The difference in the equipment from the USA is nuts. 🤯
I know that fella doing a fine job.
Nice neat job 👍
That font on the sticker above the earthing strip screams “Made in China”
American here. I have never seen anyone sleeve the ground wire before. This is new for me
I do it at my job. We sleeve the shield on high amp equipment
Us British electricians hate to see your bare 'ground' wires in those primitive consumer units.
Nice install In workshop when all preplanned
Planned
Yeh, not a real world scenario
I am happy to see somebody using the correct screwdriver on the screws.
PERFECT PERFECTION PERFORMANCE. Triple P.
That's some gorgeous wiring work. I'd have never thought of using the wire stripper to form the wires! A new thing learned every day.
Bravo👏🏼💐🐺
You've destroyed nice movie with that short power cables my friend..

Lovely job. Beautiful.
It’s not dressed for Instagram or someone’s ego to say how much better they are. It’s just done right. Neat and not over done like turkey dressed up for Christmas.
This is a very simple part of my work because I also work in this field as a small part of my broad specialty. I love this type of work and I hope it becomes more complex because that makes me feel more proud.
Lovely Lab Environment 😅
Lovely demo guys 👌⚡
The tools have made it easier
It's should be marking each circuit. If any faulty situation how can you identify.
I have a few things to say. Most importantly, I would not call those beefy input leads "effortless".
But also, it's amazing to see how well British sparks can do when they actually have the space to maneuver.
Finally, here in Southern Europe family mothers won't let you surface mount consumer units, they make you embed them into the wall. Yeah, the brick wall. I wonder if it's for the same kind of reasons why over there they're usually hidden at weird places on residential. May it be aesthetics over practicality?
if you're talking about america, its probably because they just dont want to look at it. But now you need to have specific clearances around the panel so we have enough room to work on it. doesn't stop them from putting everything in their basement in front of the panel though. And then they act suprised when we tell them they need to move their stuff.

If that was a 4-6mm twin: officially the first time I’ve ever seen anyone use pliers to twist them like that. Only ever seen that on flex or tri-rated meself (though also mostly used ferrules too).
In Germany we have Adernendhülsen and Kabelschuhe for fine-stranded conductors and Dreistockklemmen for cable connectiona and I think it's more beautiful.❤

The mess them Knipex tool makes of stripping cables , blunt after a week of using it
Had me for a second with the two cpc's in the sheathing 😫

This bewilders the liberal arts grad
Not North America : another code, different equipment and practices, but still looks like quality work to me !
You think only americans can make quality work?
@tekknorat Of course not, but I, for one, see it less often that's all !
it's all about tight terminals,
not too TIGHT and not too LOOSE.

I’m not an electrician but have somehow got interested and have watched most of the main UA-cam sparks, and noticed pretty much every new consumer unit fitted regardless of size and if Dave Savery, Nick Bundy, CJR Electrical, Artisan etc, the bare copper ends of the CPC and Neutral Fly leads going into their respective bars, the ends seem awfully close to the metal casings, which begs the question, why do manufacturers put the cpc and neutral bars so close to the top side of the casings?
Good

why you guys folding the wires? did they make the terminals the wrong size?
these video’s always makes me feel so inadequate until i remember this guy isn’t outside, doesnt have to wear cut resistant gloves, a hard hat or safety glasses and is sitting on a stool with the ac set on 68 degrees with all the components sitting on a shelf ready to go.

Hello friend, I'm an electrician here in Brazil. Here we use all flexible wires, but I found this cable gland at the circuit breaker entrance very interesting, holding the thicker wires. I haven't seen it here in the country yet, could you tell me the name to search for?
Superb
I dont need it to be tidy, I just need it to be labeled.
You make a good point but tidy makes life easier too and encourages good work.

Why don't your cables have the earth insulated like we do in Australia?
Money saving on manufacturing, hence on cable price.
Cost saving. The user insulates the ends instead of the whole length being insulated
@@jurijtimkov8019 fair enough
