I love how Peter introduced Micky at a concert as the "voice " of the Monkees. He was a class act and I completely agree. This song should have been a single!
WEll, what can I say....This is one hell of a SONG!!! They were on the top of their game when they did this one! It brings back so many memories and the place in time when I first heard it!!! You guys rock!!!!! Please start touring!!!!!!!!!
Hey guess what? I'm a 23 year old metal-head who loves the music of the Monkees. Go figure!! Anyway very nice post, the video is excellent!! One of my favorite songs too.
They were such a unique talent, they complemented each other so well (what a lucky find for the producers to find four guys, out of hundreds of pics, with that kind of talent and chemistry). One in a hundred million shot! There talent and music have stood the test of time and will forever! Thanks for posting! And thanks Monkees for giving us so much joy! HEY! HEY!
You lucky girl! I, unfortunately, did not get to experience the 70's summers, being born in '73. I discovered them when I was 12, having been a fan of the Beatles- I do remember Romper Room, and HR Puffenstuff- *groan*
The Cowsills are indeed cool. That said, the Monkees are still way at the top for me. Lately, I've been rediscovering the Beau Brummels- fantastic stuff. Check them out if you haven't yet!
One of best Monkeys song. Peter Tork had a great voice and was a fine musician! You can hear his vocals in the background of many Monkeys songs. Thanks for posting this!
Hi SueWNY, I tried looking up the archive, but couldn't find it on the NPR site. It was a radio interview with Terry Gross on NPR more than 8 years ago I'd say. While I cannot directly quote Mike, he was emphatic that they were hired actors. Hey I love them too, don't get me wrong, enormously charismatic, and great performers.
In 1967, the Jimi Hendrix Experience was invited to be the opening act for the Monkees in one of the most mismatched tours ever put together. Needless to say the JHE didn't go down very well with the pre-teen and teenybopper crowd and they quit after a few shows. Don't get me wrong, the Monkees are the best pre-fab band ever put together, and better than most of todays music, but Hendrix was a true innovator/guitar legend, and is still inspiring guitarists to this day.
TheWoodstockChannel, that's perfectly fine. And don't apologize. There's absolutely nothing wrong with having a man crush. I love Micky too. How can you not love him? He's sexy, adorable and funny. PS: awesome username.
Still enjoy these memories of my teenie bopper years. I was a Davy Jones fan but Mickey Dolenz had the best voice of all the four IMO. I think a lot of the criticisms of the Monkees is because they had TV exposure which gives any band much desired publicity. What I liked about bands in the 1960’s and early 70’s is that they were willing to help each other out without any “what’s in it for me” attitudes. They were generous in playing instruments in each others hit songs. I get teased even now for liking the Monkees yet when I mention other groups that I also am a fan of I don’t get teased as easily. What matters is that these performers and musicians made growing up and dealing with one’s growing up years a little easier. Thank you always for that, Monkees❤🙏🎸🎼
I LOVE this video. Also liked All The King's Horses too. I love that one because it has my favorite sport in it and I like this one because it is a really good dance song.:)
you did such a wonderful job on the zoom effect it went well with the song. Its funny because that was the fakest flying scene i ever saw but hey that was the 60's they tried their best good times
Awesome band. Great songs. Heard an interview with Nesmith a long time ago, the interviewer kept asking about the band, and would the band get back together, would they tour. He set her straight: The Monkees were ACTORS, not a band, not musicians (except for himself), didn't play their own instruments. Despite that they were a fabulous band, IMHO! Saw Peter Tork perform last year, myself. :-)
Davy Jones had just come off Broadway so I think he was a musician. Peter Tork could play five or six instruments. Micky dolenz has a fabulous voice. So I don't know where you got that information
dicen que ellos ni tocaban ni componian ni cantaban sus canciones, pues quien quiera que haya sido el autor de esta rola se merece un 10, de mis favoritas jejeje
Ok, The Monkees are good, The Beatles are good. There is no need to fight. The Monkees had their own sound, just like The Beatles had their own sound. People have their own opinions about things and I just don't see a reason to fight over stuff like this. I made this video for Monkee fans to enjoy, not to fight over. So please keep all derogatory comments to yourself or it will be deleted. Im sorry I have be like this, but its only fair.Say something good! Thanks alot everyone and please enjoy!
I also grew up on the monkee's while I was @ my babysitter's I 'm 27 yrs old now & I'm just in the past yr gettin fallin back in luv w/ ths Monkee's & my brother's think im nuts for likin them. The beachboys second alltime fave 70's band after the Monkee's so i know how your felling good music. p.s. i don't think your weird @ all
Actually, Randy Scouse Git was written about a party the Monkees attended in England which was hosted by the Beatles (who are referred to in the song as "the 4 kings of EMI").
Yes they definitely belong in the Hall of Fame. They were creative and musical and harmonious yet funky...all at different times. The decision makers are a bunch of hipper than thou fruads (or something like that)
LOL - me too! I'm not the only one, either. My little sister and I have to face the tragedy of having no one our own age knowing what the heck we're talking about. (Heh - my Mp3 player is a mix of Monkees songs, grunge rock, symphony, and random remixes from the net. Weirder still.) Peter's probably my fav Monkee. (PS - you misspelled Beatles)^_~
I don't believe you simply because Mike would never say that. Peter is one hell of a musician-he plays 12 different intruments! He and Mike were both accomplshed muscians when they were cast for The Monkees. Mickey did have to take drum lessons but did know the guitar and Davy was a Tony Award nominated singer and actor on Broadway, known for his briliant performance as the Artful Dodger in "Oliver!". Oh and the Monkees have toured since the show went off the air..in 86, 97, and 2001.
Peter has a band now called Shoe Suede Blues. There really good. You can visit his website or add them to your myspace to learn more about them. Thanks!
If you listen to the lyrics, this song is the closest the Monkees got to punk rock. This nicely crafted tune is probably the most under-rated Monkees song.
She, one of the Monkees best, and stands the test of time. Unusual title, and not unlike The Beatles use of an off centre concentrated idea that drives the feeling, and melody of the song. For example, Love Me Do, Please Please Me. We were spoilt in the 60's......
Really happy that younger people are finding these guys. They are just satisfying terrific. And best of all, great childhood memories.
I love how Peter introduced Micky at a concert as the "voice " of the Monkees. He was a class act and I completely agree. This song should have been a single!
I had their posters papered all over my bedroom walls! I loved them then and still do here in 2024!
Me too!! Still listen to their music 2025
Did you also join The Banana Splits Club? I think it was like $2.38 sent with an SASE.
So did I. I still have their first two LP’s and several 45’s. I miss those days so much, so many memories
My 12 year old heart loved Micky back in 1966!
WEll, what can I say....This is one hell of a SONG!!!
They were on the top of their game when they did this one! It brings back so many memories and the place in time when I first heard it!!!
You guys rock!!!!!
Please start touring!!!!!!!!!
Still here jamming,. Since 66'. Still got hair and teeth @ 60. No shit. Gramps here still banging my age lol. 25 - 45 pandemic babies lol

My favorite Monkees song. Peter recently said-and I agree-Mickey Dolenz is one of rock's most underrated vocalists.
I totally agree! Micky had and still has an incredible voice ♥️
Love this song. We just dont have music like this anymore.
I've enjoyed the Monkees when I was young, and I still enjoy the Monkees now .
This is a really great song that was frequently overlooked because they had so many other great songs. I still love the Monkees!
Thanks SO much for putting this song up for us! This is one of my all time FAVORITE Monkees songs! Very cool video!
Hey guess what? I'm a 23 year old metal-head who loves the music of the Monkees. Go figure!! Anyway very nice post, the video is excellent!! One of my favorite songs too.

One of the best of their songs. Dolenz at the top of his singing.

Soy fan de The Monkees desde los años 60'S fue un conjunto musical impresionante.
You lucky girl!
I, unfortunately, did not get to experience the 70's summers, being born in '73. I discovered them when I was 12, having been a fan of the Beatles-

This song is great. Micky is the best IMO.
The Cowsills are indeed cool. That said, the Monkees are still way at the top for me. Lately, I've been rediscovering the Beau Brummels- fantastic stuff. Check them out if you haven't yet!
Love the Cowsills !!
One of best Monkeys song. Peter Tork had a great voice and was a fine musician! You can hear his vocals in the background of many Monkeys songs. Thanks for posting this!
OMG, I was just thinking that when I was watching their "Words" video. Mickey had always been my favorite.
I can honestly say I listened to and enjoyed many more Monkee's songs than the Beatles.

Wow...I've loved this song since I was a kid, but now it remids me of my wife lol!
cool song, never hear it ! Thanks for posting...was worth it just to see Peter Tork flying as Superman...
micky is my fav, he's so cute i like his hair :DD
"she devoured all my sweet 'n low" 0:47
It's "She devoured all my sweet love."
One of the best in the Monkees catalog. Shout out to Boyce & Hart, the bubblegum pop geniuses who wrote this tune.
Great song! Makes me feel good.
lol i always thought Davy and Peter where the cutest!! =)
Just a super job and I appreciate your efforts and your talents!
Monkee on!

Thank god for On Demand! It has Monkees episodes!
I love this song!❤️
Superb, thanks. I met Micky last year outside a resturant in New York.
I love Davy & Peter's banter while playing....nice pic of clips too. Yes I am also Davy's size. I'm a 33 yr old female who stands at 5'1.
Great tune!!!
love this song... i like the sound of 60s song with betrayal in the theme... we all have been there before.
I LOVE this video. Also liked All The King's Horses too. I love that one because it has my favorite sport in it and I like this one because it is a really good dance song.:)
I still see reruns of the Monkees till this day!!!!
a totally underreated group!
My favorite song by them!
you did such a wonderful job on the zoom effect it went well with the song. Its funny because that was the fakest flying scene i ever saw but hey that was the 60's they tried their best good times
My wife saw the Monkees in concert and was one of the teenie boppers who booed Jimi Hendrix off the stage. I wish she had kept the ticket stub.
Awesome band. Great songs. Heard an interview with Nesmith a long time ago, the interviewer kept asking about the band, and would the band get back together, would they tour. it's pretty sad that these songs get pulled, because they remind a lot of people about the great music of their childhood.
Ok, The Monkees are good, The Beatles are good. There is no need to fight. The Monkees had their own sound, just like The Beatles had their own sound. One of my favourite from Americas FAB FOUR

If you listen to the lyrics, this song is the closest the Monkees got to punk rock. This nicely crafted tune is probably the most under-rated Monkees song.
To me the Monkees were garage band fabulous, that shows you how un-punk I really was when it came along later!
all four had talent, !
She, one of the Monkees best, and stands the test of time. Unusual title, and not unlike The Beatles use of an off centre concentrated idea that drives the feeling, and melody of the song. For example, Love Me Do, Please Please Me. We were spoilt in the 60's......
Boyce & Hart were to the Monkees what Cole Porter was to Frank: indispensible. I always loved the ones Micky sang lead on.
I like Mike's face because he is my favorite
