Watching this vid on my Alienware 18. Im 110% happy with it and I have to point out the warranty service from Dell is absolutley amazing. Had problems with a speaker and had a Dell technichian comming to my home 1 day after I phoned Dell and had it replaced at no cost. Never experienced that kind of service with other brands.
did you get it? I bought mine close to Sept 2014 with a better GPU and now its mobo shorted out on me much longer after warranty expired. I have to shell 1200 dollars now for the mobo...
It looks like a fine computer to me. It's an impressive combination of components. Given the specifications, I'd think that the battery life he mentioned is also fine. There is definitely a very particular target audience for it. I don't belong to it, but I can certainly appreciate it. I do think, though, that a USB keyboard should be worked into some one's budget. The thickness of it would just be too uncomfortable.
hey listen man, i have one of the last 18M totaly maxed out 32gb, 16bg nvidia, 2 tb, all singing and dancing! man, last 6 hours been playing farcry 4 ultra! my machine laughing at it. man im impressed
I got my AW18 for $4045.33 maxed out on the alienware site. (brag). But seriously though the sound really surprised me and it has some decent bass as well. My max temps in a warm room is 77c on both cards and 79c on cpu. It is a beast of a machine and i love it!
got the same laptop yesterday with the 4800MQ and 780SLI new from Dell direct for $2400. I added 2 240GB SSD's and 32GB of better ram and still came to only $2750. You got robbed.
I've had mine for almost a year and I love it. it's the best gaming laptop i've ever owned. I don't feel like i'm playing on a laptop, but on a powerful desktop anywhere I want to go. The thing is a total beast. On a side note dell is the devil and has the worst customer service ever so just be aware of that, but alienware always has the best build quality around.
Tech4Geeks My heaviest is Sager NP 9570 desknote not the biggest(cos it has only 17.3inch screen FHD) though but probably the heaviest,it is armed with Core I7-4960X(desktop edition),2xGTX 870(4GB) with SLI Express enabled.so total is 8GB and it even has its own extra cord plus32GB RAM,Wins 8.1 64 bit, Bigfoot Networks Killer™ Wireless-N 1202 + Bluetooth 4.0 and 3x500GB SSD(Raid 0). It has thermal compound and copper cooling upgrades. It worths around 6000 bucks and bought from xotic PC :). It can outpace most of any desktop PCs yet.Almost all of the games can be played in Ultra High Settings without any problems at all.
You could probably find this laptop on eBay for about $1500. He didn't mention this, but this laptop is really a hidden gem. The graphics card can be upgrade able, ( yes that means 980m sli)The cpu is a socket type, and it's one of the very last laptops that have hdmi-in and out. It fits 2 m-sata and 2 Sata drives. It's a monster to carry around but I think for the price they have this used online, the laptop wins in my favor over any razer blade... (Sorry Linux)
i gotta say man .... i love the alienware 18.. your review was really helpful... thanks man... now that i have an alienware , would surely recommend it to someone on a very high budget.. btw which camera did you use? the picture quality is superb
I really don't understand what the deal is with all the desktop enthusiasts. I love my desktop and my laptop. Is a custom built desktop going to be better and cheaper than this? Of course it is, that's why I have one, at my desk, where it stays, and doesn't move, because its not portable. Moveable and portable are not the same thing by the way. When I go to school and my next class is several hours later, or I go to visit my brother, or sister or friends and game with them as I often do, I don't really feel like packing up my entire rig and all the shit that goes with it to set it up somewhere else, play for a few hrs, pack that shit back up and bring it home and set it up again lol. And as large as this laptop is, it's not THAT heavy. It can easily and comfortably be carried in one hand, and I have small hands. Carry it in a laptop bag like you most likely will be and the weight is negligible. I have my desktop for my desk, at home. I have my laptop for going out. If you don't game on the go very often then by all means, buy a cheap laptop for portability and stick to your desktop. I would wager that most alienware laptop users don't fit in that category.
Dear Tech4Geeks. Can you, or someone else tell me what are the Alienware 18 package dimensions (height, width, length)? And what does the package weigh (package and laptop in total)? Pleace answer quickly please!
I got the same specs as the one in the video except I got two 1TB Samsung 840 EVO SSDs instead. I got mine for $5500 including the two 1TB SSDs. I was also able to get a better Blu-Ray drive & better RAM. I got the Panasonic UJ-265 6x dual layer Blu-Ray read/write drive (100GB capacity) & my 32 GB RAM is 4x8GB Kingston HyperX @ 1600MHz. The performance is awesome! :D
Just got the AW14 and love it so far. Ran me just $1,400ish. I prefer my laptops to be more portable ( and less expensive) then my desktop. great machine but you defiantly are paying a chunk for the alienware logo lol
I just bought the $6000 model, this guy is advertising the low end specs 18'' the 6k one as the top end has: 4th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-4910MQ processor (Overclocked) (8MB Cache, up to 4.1GHz w/ Turbo Boost) 32GB 1600Mhz Memory 256GB mSATA SSD Boot + 1TB 5400RPM SATA 6Gb/s Dual NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 880M graphics with 16GB total (2x 8GB) GDDR5 - NVIDIA SLI® Enabled
It's really sexy, looks awesome, performs well... But it's just ridiculously highly priced. Greed from the company's part, honestly. I get that they look AMAZING in the dark, and that they have awesome specs for laptops, but really... I doubt it costs any more than 3,000 for them to actually make the PCs themselves. They just put the prices through the roof to make profit from the rich guys. I COULD get an Alienware 18 if I REALLY wanted to, but it's just so insanely overpriced. These are one of those things where you really want it, but when you see the price tag it's like "Eeeeeeeh... maybe if I win the lottery."
I got mine mainly for portability. I travel alot and have a power converter in my car so I can play while my wife or someone else drives. I only paid $3800 for mine and am very happy with the portable performance. I have friends that own ASUS and Razor Blades and don't get the performance I can get out of mine. Most other laptops only support 1 GPU which has to run grapics and physx while with mine 1 dedicated to graphics and the other to physx. Plus it really does stay cool while playing grapic intense games.
Already ordered mine, just waiting for it to show up already!! I noticed he did forget to mention that the alienate 18 also supports upgradeable graphics and processors now. So if you are on a budget and want to start off on the base model, you can always go to Dell's website at a later point and order the upgrades and install them yourself! Just thought I'd throw that extra hint out there for everyone
I'm thinking about getting one and I'd like to know how well it will handle the following games (don't laugh at me for how maybe low you might consider them or something, I just want to know how well it does, this is the full list of games I currently have on my laptop) Need for speed rivals, Need for speed most wanted 2012, dirt 3, dirt showdown, f1 2013, race 07, lego marvel super heros, next car game, minecraft, farming simulator 2013, peggle, grid autosport. and can you get the same specs as in the video for win 8.1?
How much time can i play a game like Crysis 3\Battlefield 4\NFS Rivals on this laptop on ultra settings? I mean, will it overheat? Or will it handle rendering in cinema 4D?
i bought one of these with a bios password that couldent be fixed for 200 i spent 150 on getting the bios password and 2 weeks after purchase im finnaly installing windows on it :D im pretty happy
husonuso Actually, no. AMD is out from competition for 3 years now. And since then we are having the same GPU/CPU. Intel Haswell had been refreshed twice now, and nvidia released a rebranded GPU 880m. However, the new 980m got released few months ago and the dual 880m by a huge margin.
MrBonami2 are u trying to say desktops are better than laptops? why did u direct that to me? im just saying that custom laptops are very hard to build by ur own. Im not trying to say that laptops are better than desktops and vise versa
WA5ON1 uh cooling solution? my gpu and cpu are overclocked the heat they output is so sick.... I love laptop for that reason low on power and do not create a lot of heat and take less space
Actually money doesn't matter for me .but i prefer the size of a laptop unless it less performance than the x51 .cause my priority is the performances .im little bit lost between those two :(
I don't think the x51 has dual graphics cards and the 18 comes with the screen if your traveling alot. You can you to the site and check the specs on both systems. Just depends on your needs or demands I guess.
Ahh ok...Well I guess there isn't a big different between the two other than portability. Not sure if you can run programs on it like you can a pc. I know it runs windows as a platform though.
why should you pay more then 6000 if the battery only last for a hour and you can buy a deskopt for less than 1/3 of the price that can preforme better
If you're gonna buy something this huge and heavy, might as well get a desktop. I have the new 17 which is pushing it but imagine an SLI laptop! I'd probably just get a 13 with the Amplifier and a monitor.
I wasn't aware of Asus offering a laptop with two graphics cards in SLI. Are you sure? I think you have misunderstood something. 2 graphics cards not 1
it is worth every penny, they are the best. i own the alienware mx18r fully upgraded. nothing compares to it. unlike that guy who posted below lol, your not paying for a light show, if you know what to look for in a comp you would know that its unique programs and setups are in fact one of a kind, and as far as service, mine went through system exchange with no problem at all, they even game me the last final upgrades on my laptop for free. no customer service is perfect, but they do look out for you.
What is unique about the programs that come with it? You aren't talking about the bloatware garbage that everyone with a brain deletes as soon as they get it? What... Windows 8? The same OS on every computer made after 2012 on Earth? What is unique here? Sorry, man, you and a few thousand other Dell customers like you are the reason that Alienware still even exists. No serious PC enthusiast worth a damn would touch an Alienware with a 200 foot pole. And you can build that same top of the line laptop that cost you $6,000 for a hell of a lot less from a company like MSI. And let me guess, your "gaming" laptop has an i7 with hyperthreading? If all you do is game on it, you spent an extra $200-$300 on something you never use. You probably also have like 32 gigs of RAM? Again, 24 of those gigs are never going to be used. Hell, none of the games out probably even use the 2nd GPU. You have a 1080p screen, one top of the line GTX (anything made in the last 2 years starting with 6, 7 or 8) will be enough to run anything in 1080p. Unless you are plugging it into dual 1440p monitors or a 4k monitor, that 2nd GPU is a waste as well. I'd rather buy a laptop that is a quarter of the price, not care what my snob friends think of it, be content with the fact that it runs every game in 1080p and at least 30 FPS and use the extra money to buy an extra battery for it. I bet if you run that thing with both GPUs, with the CPU at full speed and try to play a new 3D game on it, it will last about 45 minutes to 1 hour max. Maybe less depending on the brightness of your 18 INCH SCREEN. This isn't a gaming laptop. It is a status symbol like a gold plated Ferrari or a diamond encrusted iPhone.
***** So true. This "laptop's" battery will probably cut out on you just before you are about to frag someone after 35 minutes of playing. Unless you are plugged into an outlet 24/7, this thing is as good as a brick. It isn't like a Gameboy or PSP that can last several hours of playing any game using full resources. This laptop's 18.4 inch freak show of a screen by itself would rape the battery by just being on. If the point was to have a gaming rig that is light, small and portable this is fine. But it is way too much money. Like you said, any average PC enthusiast can easily build a mini-ITX, i5 Ivy Bridge or Haswell that would kick the shit out of this laptop for about 1/5th the price. The Bitfenix Prodigy case or a similar type case is a perfect choice because it can house a full length GPU like a GTX 780ti, GTX 690 or R9 290x. One of those GPUs can easily match the power of a GTX 780m SLI laptop. And a quad core i5 2nd gen and up would be more than enough for any gamer. Even a AMD FX CPU (6300 or any 83xx) would be more than enough. I have no idea why people think they need an i7 or (lol) Xeon for gaming. The only downsides are that you need to plug in two power cables instead of one (monitor and PC PSU) and you can only fit one GPU in a mini ITX motherboard. If you have a wireless mouse and keyboard and wifi there is no need to plug those cables in and the only thing you need to hook up is the HDMI cable for video and sound. The whole rig minus the monitor can fit in a regular backpack and probably weighs about as much as a console like the Xbox 360 or PS3.
Jay Man You guys really need to stop comparing desktops to laptops, it's ridiculous. your custom desktop will win every single time. No on is debating that. I've never seen someone turn around and say their laptop is going to kick the pants off your fancy desktop lol. Even as inferior to a custom desktop as it is, it will run just about any game with top notch performance anyway, and it's portable. Even a mini-ITX is still a tower and requires a monitor. It would be rather difficult for me to hook all that up in the hall as I wait a few hrs for class. As for power, this lasts way more than 30 minutes when I play. And that's with a million other things running as I game. Even if I have to be glued to the outlet right next to the bench I'm sitting on with this laptop, its far easier to setup and play when it comes to portability. I don't know about you but plugged in or not I'm still going to be sitting in one spot for the entire time I'll be gaming anyway, so I really don't mind. It's not like there's a shortage of outlets in the world. Quality and intended function of the actual laptop aside, they are rather expensive.
I really don't know why Alienware's laptop's are so hated. It's so simple : it's a laptop (which means it has more portability than a desktop) and it's heavy (but not the end of the world), it's well geared up and powerfull. It's pricy but it isn't for any pocket. Who has money can buy it, if not diy or find better opportunities ( better ratio price/performance). There will always be high quality priced items wherever you go, and just because you don't have the money doesn't mean other people can't spend it. Grow the fuck up and move on.
+Daniel jompeang I think 6k is just insane. I'd get the base 17 with the Amplifier and stick a Titan in there. And you'd have cash left over for a nice monitor I'm sure.
+Daniel jompeang I'm getting it. Had an Asus JT751 ROG, got a VT752, and planned to get the Acer Predator, but changed my mind when I saw the specs and design of the Alienware 18.
Hell no I wouldn't pay over $6000 for this laptop or any laptop at that!!! The speed at which new technology hits the market it will take no time before this is down to a third of the price. Now I know this laptop is a little older, but I've seen new Alienware 15 inch laptops using a core i7, 1tb hdd, 512ssd, and using a gtx980m for right around the $3000 to $3500. Still not an amount I'd pay, (not a huge fan of Alienware neither) but definitely an improvement on the price of this laptop.
Tech4Geeks How does the laptops build feel? Does it feel more solid now that they are using a metal case again? I have a m17xR3 and while I like it I was disappointed in the plastic feeling and how much flex it has opening the lid and pushing the media buttons.
very fragile my friend has the previous version of the m17x he bought it in 2012 n it broke cause it would overheat in several occasions but im sure dell fixed the overheating problem on this version of alienware
My M17xR3 was pretty good for 2 years until my wife put her birthday bowling pin on the high part of my desk while cleaning and then knocked it off landing on my laptops keyboard damaging the motherboard. My laptop felt pretty hot under stress for long periods of time but I never noticed any performance issues. A lot of people end up with problems with their gaming laptops doing things like using it on a bed or some kind of fabric like a pillow and blocking vents on the bottom Alienwares have 2 on the bottom and 2 in the rear but that is still taking away from the airflow. People also tend to leave their laptop on desk and not cleaning under it as often as they should and this causes more dust to enter your machine causing more heat.
nice to see cutting edge tech, but i always prefer smart buys regarding with price/performance.. for me this toy is best buy for ppl like designers or video editors etc... gamers can live with a high end desktop paying less than a third of that price and having hell higher specs :) y u can't move yr desk to a lan party so easily.. but if u are interested so much on that u can minimize weight n' space with a mini case.
I just spend $1,359.99 on a gaming laptop. MSI GE60 Apache Pro. Sure it won't play all the latest games on "HIGH" settings. But it will play most games for at least "MEDIUM-High". With the remaing $4640.01 I can still by a super high end PC.... But i already have one. I see why Alienware is so EXPENSIVE, But i don't see why some one would by one.
I just bought this for $400.00 Did I get ripped off for a 2016 laptop. I just need it to process photography using Photoshop and Lightroom. Alienware 17 R3 | 2.2GHZ I7 | GTX 580M | 20GBram 500GB Processor Speed(2.2GHz) Audio Port Blue Tooth Certified Data Destruction (NIST guidelines) Optical Drive(BluRay -Combo) Video Card(Other Video Card) Video Port Wi-Fi Ethernet Camera HDMI Make(Dell) Screen Size(17) Memory Card Reader Slot. Processor Type(Intel Core i7-2670QM) Screen Display(Glossy Screen) USB Port(USB 3.0) e-SATA-Port Hard Drive(500GB) RAM(20GB)
ia agree wit jt at 2000-3200$ the laptop could be way cheaper if custom but you will not get the awesome features and easy upgadableness with a custom laptop so i think its worth it also who dosent like the alien on the front thats worth 500$ right there lol
hey man you can get it from most jbhifi's i went to this one.. The Strand Arcade 412 - 414 George Street the 17 is 3k but he said he'll do it for 2.3k (it was during a sale tho) and the 18 is 4k but if you ask nicely they will do it for around 3500 and if your really keen they will do it for less with 2 year warranty but the new gtx 970m and gtx 980m have come out so keep in mind your buying out dated stuff =) P.S. you can buy it from dell starting at 4k but if you chat to them they will do it for 3390
dear commando i have alienware for 10 year and never had any burnning issues, its hot but for the power he have its normal, the only problem you can have its software upgrades
You would want the m17x, dual video cards use a shit ton of power. Most forums state they get around 3 hours of battery life with the m18x surfing the web, watching movies, and using office and a little over 1 hour playing games. The m17xR4 gets around 5 hours in light use.
Richard Couillard Hey, thanks for the advice! I've been looking at many different laptops! I was split between the MSI GS60 Ghost Pro and The New Razer Blade since I didn't need a desktop replacement. I went with The New Razer Blade in the end! =] thanks!
eugene ogrin Ya unfortunately Alienware dropped their 18.4 laptop. They are betting on their AMP to boost performance.Crap...just more components to carry around.
only 56 min of battery life? they can easily fit a bigger battery in that frame a 16 or even 32 cell battery would be a massive improvement 56 min is atrocious for battery life while gaming it is better than my current alienware which gets 27 min on battery mode while gaming but still shit 2-3 hours under full game load should be the standard for laptops in this class honestly who ever uses the intel GPU why even suggest we use it? and for $6000 they should have dual GTX 980s in that thing the GTX780 isn't much better than the GTX 765 in my current machine a fully customizable laptop would allow you to customize EVERYTHING including the battery and GPU i would love to know why they don't give the option for larger battery packs anymore or why anyone thought it would be a good idea to seal the battery inside i remember the days where you could swap out a dead battery for a charged one i was on a 6 hour flight once and was able to play games on my Toshiba satellite L500 the whole way due to bringing 3 12 cell battery packs with me with new Alienware laptops i would be completely screwed even if i brought extra battery packs (i would need a lot) because the battery cant be removed without a screwdriver (good luck getting one of those past the TSA checkpoint) give us removable batteries!!!!!!!!!
This laptop is top of the line..yea its heavy..yea the battery doesn't last BUT..mine doesn't move much..and im plugged into the wall..fuck the battery and portability...If I wanted a desktop ID BUY ONE..price is NO OPTION!!!
I would not purchase a Alienware M18 because I know the Aorua X7 with dual GPU is much cheaper than the M18 and as powerful as the Alienware but much much less than the Alienware. I'm a Gigabyte purchaser and never has an issue with gigabyte gaming notebooks but on the other hand, I'd happen to ran into hardware and software issues with an Alienware M17 switch was an not so good experience
thats why alienware laptops are a bit thick in size, first of all, best cooling system PERIOD. second of all its thick cuz you can very easily change parts in an alienware thats why its a great laptop ! you cant really change stuff in other laptops exept ram , battery and those silly stuff.
Watching this vid on my Alienware 18.

Hi.Did You try connect Vidock box and External Card GRAPHICS??🤔😁
7 years later and I got one with better specs for $200. I guess it was worth the wait 😎🤣🤣👍
I will get this beast in the next 5 to 6 months , I've always wanted to buy this super powerful laptop
did you get it? I bought mine close to Sept 2014 with a better GPU and now its mobo shorted out on me much longer after warranty expired. I have to shell 1200 dollars now for the mobo...

Under 1hr on battery :o....
Sadly that's the truth haha
Tech4Geeks But that's on everything High performance correct? Because I have one and it last quite long when just surfing the web and stuff
Modern_Amusement True I put as many setting to battery saving as I could and it lasted me 2hrs give or take.
Tech4Geeks I think that very normal based on i7 Haxwell and Sli graphic card. lot of power need to be used to power it
Edmund Chui Hasewell 4th gen processors have lower power consumption than the last gen of intel core processors which was ivy bridge.
Love my alien 18 the price was my biggest obstacle. I had a yolo
moment and bought it
I'm guessing the little fancy lights help kill the battery faster?
i just bought this laptop last night, and so far its worth going totally broke over! :D
This is my cousin and I've the used the laptop when I went over once. It was sent to him to review, he didn't buy it. Real heavy as well.
i got one it is great you get use to the size and weight
got the same laptop yesterday with the 4800MQ and 780SLI new from Dell direct for $2400. I added 2 240GB SSD's and 32GB of better ram and still came to only $2750. You got robbed.
Tech4Geeks - wow excellent video! what video camera do you use for your filming? Thank you :-D

Tech4Geeks thank you.

btw which camera did you use? the picture quality is superb
alienware m18x r2. Almost 3 years old, still kicking ass. And for a cheaper 1.5 k these days
I really don't understand what the deal is with all the desktop enthusiasts. I love my desktop and my laptop. Is a custom built desktop going to be better and cheaper than this? I agree. I bought my Alienware 18 because I travel a lot & I wanted the best performance I could get in a mobile wrapper. ;)
I like older design when the air vents would glow but this is still nice
wouldn't that take more battery life?
The alienware 17 r1 is amazing to and both designs are same for alienware 17 r1 and alienware 18
Good organization and editing.
love the 18 and 17 r1s you can actually upgrade them and now that sagar and eurocomm have rtx 3xxx mxm cards you can keep them a long time
Dear Tech4Geeks. Can you, or someone else tell me what are the Alienware 18 package dimensions (height, width, length)?

4th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-4910MQ processor (Overclocked) (8MB Cache, up to 4.1GHz w/ Turbo Boost)
32GB 1600Mhz Memory
256GB mSATA SSD Boot + 1TB 5400RPM SATA 6Gb/s
Dual NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 880M graphics with 16GB total (2x 8GB) GDDR5 - NVIDIA SLI® Enabled
On my AW 18 now as i watch great review
Thanks buddy! I hope you're liking your laptop!
I think you have a different currency than him haha
Alex Yantchev Probably so....lol
I'd honestly expect a $6,000 pc to perform much much better...
Alienware** damn autocorrect...
How is it?
Holy $6000!!!! I can build a killer gaming PC for that that'd last me for years!!!!!!
I'm thinking about getting one and I'd like to know how well it will handle the following games (don't laugh at me for how maybe low you might consider them or something, I just want to know how well it does, this is the full list of games I currently have on my laptop) Need for speed rivals, Need for speed most wanted 2012, dirt 3, dirt showdown, f1 2013, race 07, lego marvel super heros, next car game, minecraft, farming simulator 2013, peggle, grid autosport. and can you get the same specs as in the video for win 8.1?
.
U can play every game maxed if u take 880m sli! See yourself: www.notebookcheck.com/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-880M-SLI.109043.0.html
you can play every single game you can think of on ultra
Nice.
peeta0330 I think these games aren't really that heavy and can be played on regular gaming laptops. The Alienware usually is for intense MMORPG games.
The first thing to come up when I type cheap high end gaming laptops
How much time can i play a game like Crysis 3\Battlefield 4\NFS Rivals on this laptop on ultra settings? I mean, will it overheat? Or will it handle rendering in cinema 4D?
Slightly lower specs...FUCKING...SLIGHTLY?!
It STILL costs over 3000$!!
But holy shit 32GB of RAM...
WHAT A BEAST
Love the Review !!!
SuperLiverpool1985 Thank you!
I kinda don't like the fact they went for more beef then the lights.
More Beautiful than 99% of the actuall laptops! But is glossy screen? I hope so
i bought one of these with a bios password that couldent be fixed for 200 i spent 150 on getting the bios password and 2 weeks after purchase im finnaly installing windows on it :D im pretty happy
it nows costs 2500$ if u add the ssd and it has 2x nvidia geforce 860M instead of 780M (with 16gb ram )
Why did the laptop say hello when I said hello to it because of the title
Because it was a Dell :P
Would a laptop with these specs last you for like 5-8 years? Considering that every year new things come out and slow down laptops
husonuso
Actually, no. AMD is out from competition for 3 years now. And since then we are having the same GPU/CPU. Intel Haswell had been refreshed twice now, and nvidia released a rebranded GPU 880m. However, the new 980m got released few months ago and the dual 880m by a huge margin.
Everyone is calling this guy an idiot, but he probably got more than 6000$ from the views of the vid!
OF COURSE NOT ! he got about 4 to 5 hundred bucks....
look, it was an exaduration.
that's maybe 200$ MAX.
Scorpi Gaming lol no
also to clear up confusion its not 6000$ he probs lives in another country than usa so the currency is different
6000!! You could buy an alienware 17 AND a razerblade pro
I can smoke any alienware product for cheaper with a custom pc
ya but this is a laptop we are talking about here, u can build ur own custom desktops, but to build a custom laptop will be much harder.
Ace i can heat my house with my desktop..... Laptop win for that to me... damn 400w tdp of output +
I love laptop for that reason low on power and do not create a lot of heat and take less space
we all can, now build a custom laptop. there are some people who dont want to carry their tower around all the time.
mine is 4gb gt780 gpu how much will it cost if im going to upgarede to 16gb gpu? i mean is it compatible? i mean is it a big difference?
i need help ,is there really a big difference between the alienware 18 and the x51 ?
***** Seriously ? the double 880m is better than the GTX titan ?
Actually money doesn't matter for me .but i prefer the size of a laptop unless it less performance than the x51 .cause my priority is the performances .im little bit lost between those two :(
I don't think the x51 has dual graphics cards and the 18 comes with the screen if your traveling alot. You can you to the site and check the specs on both systems. Just depends on your needs or demands I guess.
Keith Horton the x51 has 3 graphics slot
Ahh ok...Well I guess there isn't a big different between the two other than portability. Not sure if you can run programs on it like you can a pc. I know it runs windows as a platform though.
if u fully customize the alien-ware 18 now its only 6000 or lower if Ur not getting all the office tools and photo junk
Hope to win thanks for the opportunity :)
Wait, I am giving the laptop away? Brandon Sumner
I thought it was a different video
is this considered the r1 or what? i didnt pay that much lol. but know if i can upgrade it to 980 graphic card
why should you pay more then 6000 if the battery only last for a hour and you can buy a deskopt for less than 1/3 of the price that can preforme better
Sorry but this GREAT Laptop working properly with Vidock box and Thunderbolt 3 socket??🤔🤔😁😁
If you're gonna buy something this huge and heavy, might as well get a desktop. I have the new 17 which is pushing it but imagine an SLI laptop! I'd probably just get a 13 with the Amplifier and a monitor.
you can get the Asus 17.3" equivalent to this 6,000 dollar version for under 3,000
I wasn't aware of Asus offering a laptop with two graphics cards in SLI. Are you sure? I think you have misunderstood something. 2 graphics cards not 1
I've been debating on getting one of these since Nov and they have been at 2k starting price and around 4500 maxxed out. Is this in another country?
sort of, and some place they don't even get customization, one configuration, end of story LOL
Their website is screwed up right now. You have to use the chat feature to get the rig customized the way you want it.
it is worth every penny, they are the best. i own the alienware mx18r fully upgraded. nothing compares to it. unlike that guy who posted below lol, your not paying for a light show, if you know what to look for in a comp you would know that its unique programs and setups are in fact one of a kind, and as far as service, mine went through system exchange with no problem at all, they even game me the last final upgrades on my laptop for free. no customer service is perfect, but they do look out for you.
Jay Man
You guys really need to stop comparing desktops to laptops, it's ridiculous. your custom desktop will win every single time.
-did you buy the new alienware 18?
-no i got a car instead...
Is this the m1 m2 or m3?
$6000 isnt alot for some people.
can it play minecraft?
lel thats why i bought it and yes it can and u can get all good stuff like shaders rd3 512+512 texture pack and modpackes
tazio chiarella You got this because it can play Minecraft? Please tell me you're just trolling.
yuppp Sparky
and I'm not ashamed to say it
tazio chiarella Are you dumb ???
cuanto es ese valor en pesos colombianos????
how much these go for in 2022,, i got one in excellent condition
400£😂
I really don't know why Alienware's laptop's are so hated. It's so simple : it's a laptop (which means it has more portability than a desktop) and it's heavy (but not the end of the world), it's well geared up and powerfull. It's pricy but it isn't for any pocket. Who has money can buy it, if not diy or find better opportunities ( better ratio price/performance). There will always be high quality priced items wherever you go, and just because you don't have the money doesn't mean other people can't spend it. Grow the fuck up and move on.
Honestly I can see MSI selling this for around 4k. While it does have impressive stats, it's still not 6 grand worthy.
im planning on getting this is that a good option?
plz tell me
+Daniel jompeang I think 6k is just insane. I'd get the base 17 with the Amplifier and stick a Titan in there. And you'd have cash left over for a nice monitor I'm sure.
alcaponed16 20,000 is my profit
?
i have 20,000 to spend
+Daniel jompeang I'm getting it.
Had an Asus JT751 ROG, got a VT752, and planned to get the Acer Predator, but changed my mind when I saw the specs and design of the Alienware 18.
How big is the screen? Is it possible to get a 17" model?
Ridha Matoussi Its called the Alienware 17.
*Can it run tetris ?*
That thing is a beast 6k wow!
Yup, 6k just like that! - Jens
Actually they must have dropped the price it's down to $4249 US, it might be more expensive in other countries.
Tech4Geeks How does the laptops build feel? Does it feel more solid now that they are using a metal case again? I have a m17xR3 and while I like it I was disappointed in the plastic feeling and how much flex it has opening the lid and pushing the media buttons.
Richard Couillard yeah man build quality feels superb.
If its anything like the 17 then the build quality is great. Much better than my last Alienware.
How good is the reliability of this laptop?
I guess reliable enough to last for year, as long as you know how to look after it!
very fragile my friend has the previous version of the m17x he bought it in 2012 n it broke cause it would overheat in several occasions but im sure dell fixed the overheating problem on this version of alienware
Unless you're editing 20hrs of movie, you will never need 32GB of ram. BTW, are their chips dual, quad or eight core?
CPU you mean, right? If so they're quad core.
nice to see cutting edge tech, but i always prefer smart buys regarding with price/performance.. for me this toy is best buy for ppl like designers or video editors etc... gamers can live with a high end desktop paying less than a third of that price and having hell higher specs :) y u can't move yr desk to a lan party so easily.. but if u are interested so much on that u can minimize weight n' space with a mini case.
Man I gotta start saving up
I just bought this for $400.00 Did I get ripped off for a 2016 laptop. I just need it to process photography using Photoshop and Lightroom.

ia agree wit jt at 2000-3200$ the laptop could be way cheaper if custom but you will not get the awesome features and easy upgadableness with a custom laptop so i think its worth it
also who dosent like the alien on the front thats worth 500$ right there lol
Is there an alienware18 in Australia Sydney if so then please tell me the stores
hey man you can get it from most jbhifi's i went to this one.. The Strand Arcade 412 - 414 George Street
the 17 is 3k but he said he'll do it for 2.3k (it was during a sale tho) and the 18 is 4k but if you ask nicely they will do it for around 3500 and if your really keen they will do it for less with 2 year warranty but the new gtx 970m and gtx 980m have come out so keep in mind your buying out dated stuff =)
P.S. you can buy it from dell starting at 4k but if you chat to them they will do it for 3390
Now you're talking! I am more of a computer guy than phone guy although I work on everything. :)@tech4geeks
I will NEVER buy any Alienware products, simply because the reviewers always leave this out. Almost ALL of their products MELT from overheating.
+AgHeinz57 Noted. My opinion in this matter has changed over time, so yassss.
dear commando i have alienware for 10 year and never had any burnning issues, its hot but for the power he have its normal, the only problem you can have its software upgrades
The new Alienware supports upto 16gb gddr5 nvidia gtx 690s graphics card,
You're a little quiet when you talk. Might wanna raise your voice a little more.
Turn up the volume.
ItsHell [MegaCraft Network] RodneyWayne or get a better speaker ;)
Tech4Geeks Or get your hearing checked.
such a beast laptop :O
Yup! I still couldn't believe that I've used a $6000 laptop. Haha
I was almost deadset on getting this laptop until I read 1 hour battery life... want to bring it on a plane.
=] thanks!
I went to the Alienware website and sell and there was no Alienware 18 only 17 and bellow
eugene ogrin Ya unfortunately Alienware dropped their 18.4 laptop. They are betting on their AMP to boost performance.Crap...just more components to carry around.
OMG 6K? Its more expensive then there Aurora?
Yes
and its so big come on alienware
can anybody possibly tell me how well this PC can handle 7 days to die?
Hope you don't drop this powerhouse on your pet .
Haha yeah it can kill my dog. Lol.
Omg.....This laptop is fucking beautiful!!! peoples HONEST opinion, is it worth the money? Like can this laptop handle word docs and stuff like that?
Is it me or the price dropped to a little bit over 2 grands
I WANT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
only 56 min of battery life?
they can easily fit a bigger battery in that frame
a 16 or even 32 cell battery would be a massive improvement
56 min is atrocious for battery life while gaming
it is better than my current alienware which gets 27 min on battery mode while gaming but still shit
2-3 hours under full game load should be the standard for laptops in this class
honestly who ever uses the intel GPU why even suggest we use it?
and for $6000 they should have dual GTX 980s in that thing
the GTX780 isn't much better than the GTX 765 in my current machine
a fully customizable laptop would allow you to customize EVERYTHING including the battery and GPU
i would love to know why they don't give the option for larger battery packs anymore
or why anyone thought it would be a good idea to seal the battery inside
i remember the days where you could swap out a dead battery for a charged one
i was on a 6 hour flight once and was able to play games on my Toshiba satellite L500 the whole way due to bringing 3 12 cell battery packs with me
with new Alienware laptops i would be completely screwed even if i brought extra battery packs (i would need a lot) because the battery cant be removed without a screwdriver (good luck getting one of those past the TSA checkpoint)
give us removable batteries!!!!!!!!!
any word on battery life or removability?
6000$ laptop = 1080P and it will overheat
6000$ desktop = 2K and 100+ frames and never heat with liquid cooling
choose wisely
This laptop is top of the line..yea its heavy..yea the battery doesn't last BUT..mine doesn't move much..and im plugged into the wall..fuck the battery and portability...If I wanted a desktop ID BUY ONE..price is NO OPTION!!!
I would not purchase a Alienware M18 because I know the Aorua X7 with dual GPU is much cheaper than the M18 and as powerful as the Alienware but much much less than the Alienware. I'm a Gigabyte purchaser and never has an issue with gigabyte gaming notebooks but on the other hand, I'd happen to ran into hardware and software issues with an Alienware M17 switch was an not so good experience
wait... so u can upgrade yur laptop? how cum i cant upgrade my laptop? someone help plz
thats why alienware laptops are a bit thick in size, first of all, best cooling system PERIOD. second of all its thick cuz you can very easily change parts in an alienware thats why its a great laptop ! you cant really change stuff in other laptops exept ram , battery and those silly stuff.
MonstartGamingHD ok, thanks!
