James Bryan Esconde its a hell of a laptop im thinking hard about getting one so i can game at friends houses and some collage work with out having to haul my gaming desk top everywhere. lol
I have the Alienware 18 for about 1.5 years now, bought it with 2 GTX 765M and upgraded it to GTX 970M about 3 weeks ago, love my laptop to death. Sure you can build an absolute beast with the money I've spent, but when you love something like this, money isn't something to think about. As well now that the AW18 has stopped manufacturing, I feel like I have something special ;)
+Chidum Ekenta Overheating was never an issue for me, but I take very good care of my laptop. I use stock fans to cool with an upgraded 100w heatsink. I clean the fans every month or so, and repaste every year. Also I make sure the ambient temperature isn't too high or low, keeping below 26 degrees C. With this my laptop never exceed 75 degrees C, usually around 65 under load and never auto shutdown on me due to temperature
Untrue. Laptops can be capable gaming machines, but their price for their form factor limits their potential. I've been gaming on laptops for years. I can't wait to build a desktop again, but my current laptop plays battlefield 3 on ultra at 60FPS@ 1080P, and with a driver soft mod for my external display, i can run battlefield3 on ultra at 2160x1215 at 55~60FPS(OGSSAA). Laptops can be very capable of being gaming platforms. My system doesnt overheat. plays every game i want at max settings and playable frame rates, its just expensive to get something that can do that.
I am using one now. Its a great computer. It will last me a while for specs. Its not that bad with weight. The look makes up for all that. If you want to travel and live in other places and dont want to keep buying a desktop with the same specs then this perfect. Great computer, I would buy it again.
Why the hell would you buy it again? You already got the shit don't go to the point of saying you'd buy the laptop over again. Nothing 3k is good enough to buy again if it is a computer.
Its because Asus makes the motherboards for their own laptops so its easier to place things in different ways to make a better laptop and the lower price is again because they dont have to pay another company to make them a motherboard or a GPU
As an owner of the 17(Same specs as the one in the video), this has better cooling than the ROG G750JH. My friend owns the G750JH, we put our laptops head to head and his GPU under load was at 77c-80c while mine stayed at 67c-70c. The fan profile on the AW17 got better with bios updates, Mine runs near silent when playing bf4.
Hi Dmitry: This was an excellent review IMO. You really worked that thing to see what it had out of the box. Alienware has always been one of my favorite brands even though I've never owned one. It's branding signified top end, cutting edge gaming performance and a special blend of aesthetics to go with it. It signified a level of distinction from the average gamer. Sadly, this seems to be fading. While this Desktop replacement has some very nice features, it's pricing vs performance is actually somewhat disappointing. 3K in USD for 30-40 FPS??? Glitchy branding effects??? Not for my money. Thanks for a really informative look at it. I sincerely hope they do better in the future because I don't want the brand to just fade away.
I got my alienware 17 on September 2013 and I am very pleased with it. The loud exhaust probably won't bother many gamers since the use of headphones is very common. The Alienware FX is a cool feature for me, and even when it glitches, it doesn't matter all that much since it's just some fancy lights. I love how this notebook looks and battery life actually surprised me. I could get over 4h on power saving mode and this made it extremely possible to use the notebook in university without having to bring the massive power brick. Overall very good review, thanks!
the new alienware design is amazing. the previous alienware keyboard looks more unique and its different from all the other notebooks out there. the new ones looks like a sager keyboard which is now similar from other notebooks.
Everyone calling this a rip-off... If you're poor and frustrated about it , why cry here ? You won't build a pc with these specs for $1000 , I assure you. Today , this laptop starts at $1399. What's the problem ? It's a premium gaming laptop , and one of the best. Alienware actually make the best gaming laptop , the 18 , with dual 880M's . Can your MSI or Asus laptop reach that ? I seriously doubt it... Also check out the materials it's made of ... it's not plastic like the other "cheaper" laptops..
so i have alienware M17x R4 with GTX 660M. its been quite a while since it was sitting in shelf coz been using PC for everything and forgot abt Lappy. Last month my friend bought Alienware 17 r3/r4(not sure) with gtx 1070M. after seeing his, and using i again wanted to use my lappy, but now after using SSD for windows for over 3 years, i had so so so much irritation after i started my book after like 2 years, my brother used it till last year and since it was just in its box. installed fresh copy of windows 10, re partitioned whole drive. installed some games and i was very ....you get it. So made up my mind, bought 16GB ram kit(originally 8gb), 256GB SSD for windows and apps, and some games, also bought 1tb SSHD for other games ans other stuff, and one more thing, upgraded to GTX 780M, and did re-paste the CPU(i7) and GPU(Obviously) and boom, super smooth..and now, its been a week and i'm carrying it around every were i go, even bought Alienware's 17" backpack... Loving it, like when i bought it...
It amazes me how many people are saying "get a custom built DESKTOP and save money" in a laptop video, it really says it all about your intelligence, like if i want to buy a motorcicle, check a motorcicle forum filled with comments like "get a car it's safer" i want to hear about motorcicles, i don't give a fk about cars at the moment. That said everyone says AW is overpriced... it's not overpriced, it costs more, and if you carefully look at warranty policy, upgradability, building materials, screen and every piece of hardware and compare it to cheaper ones you can easily guess where those extra 2/300 euros/dollars come from. Stating it's overpriced is just stupid and just makes you sound like a jealous person/hater/fanboy, AW and ASUS both make good laptops, AW costs more because you get more, saying this is not true, is just refusing to accept reality
This exact model is my first laptop, it serves me extremely well, very satisfied with it. It is heavy as hell and expensive as hell, but the build quality easily justified the price tag.
I own Alienware 18,ordinarily i build my own desktops but this thing for a laptop is awesome, very very well made, performs very well outperforms most desktops, yes it is expensive but you get what you pay for.
For anyone thinking about buying an Alienware, please do some research on the parts. You will notice just how terrible Alienware parts (or just Dell in general) are. Dell is infamous for using terrible parts but great aesthetics in order to convince consumers that their overpriced computers are worth the money.
Oh my god that model is so nice. I plan on selling my current laptop and using the money plus what i have saved to buy a newer model with a better graphics card. Hopefully this'll happen this year.
Kazuto Kirigaya Go to xoticpc.com or gentechpc.com and build a Sager laptop. You can get far cheaper for better performance. All Alienware gives you is excessive LED lights and the right to say you like to blow money lol
nice thorough review, but you forgot to mention the display (other than the non-gloss). quality and VIEWING ANGLES! I think potential shoppers (not me personally) would like to know! =]
XgraphicgamerX Das it? My desktop (Under $1000) gets 130+ when recording, I don't upload though because I don't want to waste my time getting 50 subs that don't actually watch.
8BitPC well obviously you could get two times the frame rate on a computer that costs over $700. For all I know you could be talking about a $20,000 computer.
8BitPC The GTX780M is comparible to the desktop GTX660/HD7850 in terms of raw performance. The i7-4800MQ will destroy any CPU you have considering you have a $700 budget computer so I doubt you would get twice the frame rates on that desktop compared to this laptop. Unless you have at least a GTX780 or i5 4670k to even exceed twice as much frame rates..
jimmys tempura Yes, I guess I was exaggerating a little... I have a 7950 gpu and a 8320 cpu Both overclocked. On battlefield 4 I get over 60fps on average with most maps on ultra. Other games I'm not sure, With the more graphic intensive games 2x is not unrealistic, on a game like arma III I would probably get about the same as it. Sorry if I offended you :)
Mueez Khan I´ll not agree with that. Minecraft is really badly optimized, because it´s running on a primitive engine. Im not kidding son, just because of the graphics, it doesn´t mean it´s easy peasy to run.
Andrew Kim If im completely tweaking Minecraft at the highest setting, i'm pro'lly getting around the 30-60 FPS. But to be honest, for a Laptop like this, i dont care if i got 30 FPS on Minecraft (that i really rarely play). I´ll save money till i'm going out of school, and doing something with my life to this computer.
People are saying you could build a PC with the same specs for a lot less. I want to get this ONLY because I have zero knowledge of building a custom PC... Fuck I wish I knew more lel
Dude it's not that hard, I did it without any help except UA-cam and the LinusTechTips forum. You get a lot more out of your money with it and it's so much more upgradable.
Honestly people, if you want a powerful gaming rig just build your own desktop PC, it's really not difficult at all. Building your own PC will allow you to make a much faster, better performing system than any Alienware laptop for much, much less money.
+Crosby4hyg yea true but your forgetting that people cant carry around a desktop people get laptops because they are not able to bring a desktop with them
sandy1234853 I bring my PC to LANS and friends' houses all the time. Gaming laptops seem great in theory, but in reality they're very expensive for less performance, and keeping them adequately cooled can be a nightmare. Laptops have a purpose, but that purpose really isn't gaming.
i watched this while transferring a toon to Bleeding Hollow -_- but i'm glad to watch this...looking into buying a Asus ROG G75 again hehe. keep up the great reviews!
For over $3000 30 fps on BF4 is complete shit.... Honestly if you own an Alienware PC, I truly feel sorry for you're inability to do any sort of research before purchasing a computer.
I mean pc or laptop everyone is telling that you can get a better a waaay hetter pc with same price... i have searched on ibuypower, on falcon, on gigabyte, msi and all of the are on the same range actually alienwere is on the best ones, im talking about the x51. I7 3.9 with a gtx 770 2gb, and 8 on ram on 1400usd. And the comoact size is amazing!
Well, he asked for a PC with the same (or better) specs and lower price, and I made a killer PC for 2900 US$. In a nutshell, if you're a serious gamer and want something good, go for a self-build PC :) Laptops are not for gaming.
I own an m11x and I think it is an engineering work of art. Alienware laptops always excel in Quality, build, overall look & feel. Performance-wise however, there is stiff competition. Im not saying they are bad, by any means. Alienware laptops always set the standard for what a performance gaming laptop should be, then other companies try to match or surpass this. When you buy an alienware, you are buying not only performance, but design, quality, looks, service, warranty, etc etc etc. I know I could build a super powerful desktop with this money, but I happen to want something flashy and nice to look at, something that I can show off. This is much like buying a lamborghini, the only reason to purchase this exotic car is because: 1- you have the money 2- you want to show off same as alienware computers
***** alright you made a good point about the MAC thing, I agree, but I think you are wrong saying they are badly made. Dell is worldwide manufacturing pc & server provider, they make quality machines, maybe not the fastest but damn near bullet proof. they take the extra step to make sure their machines wont die on you. Unlike newer laptop makers (razr, gigabyte, etc etc) that just recently started doing machines, Dell has been at this for a while. And they apply the same quality standards to their subdivisions (alienware) A clear example is the fact that many gaming notebooks coming out now are trying to go with the thin form factor, which is alright but alienware remains with their thick form factor to ensure better cooling. I know, i sound like a fan boy, im not , honestly. I think alienware laptops are overpriced, heavy and bulky. I mean, you could build a desktop twice as fast for less money. But that does not mean alienware is BADLY MADE. On the contrary, from personal experience, they are built like rocks.
***** You have had bad luck I guess, and I imagine you have done many more hp dv9000's than dell alienwares. And if you have, as a technicians P.O.V. then certainly you can tell the quality of the product when taking it apart, compared to other systems. Tell me, do you OWN an alienware system?
***** I think you might be confusing m11 with m17 perhaps. The m11 is alienwares smallest notebook, 11.6" HD display, Wheighs 4.5 pounds, meanwhile the alienware m17 wheighs a whopping 9 monstrous pounds. I can understand anyone hating that behemoth of a "laptop" But i cant understand anyone hating the m11x for it being big & bulky,, it is tiny beautiful machine, look it up! and yes, even though they are nice, they are too overpriced. I have to agree with that 100%. :(
myfreetime123 Yea, only a moronic nerd will carry a big ass PC everywhere instead of a laptop in an elegant bag. That's why you'll never get laid (zero style point). And you are much weaker than me, bitch. I'm 220 lbs of steel muscle, less than 10% fat. I'll stick with high end laptops for my business and gaming needs. Fuck PCs. This crap should be in prehistory by now.
I am curious, when was this one purchased? I just got the 2014 Alienware AW18 - 18.4" Full HD 1920x1080 (3D & 1440p capable) 120Hz 2ms screen - 4900MQ @ 4.0GHz - Duel SLi Nvidia GeForce GTX 880m 8gb GPUs (total 16gb dedicated graphics memory) - 24gb 1600MHz duel ch. GDDR3 RAM - 3 drive bay (1tb SSD, 256gb SSD, 1TB HDD @ 5400 RPM w/80gb cache) - Tri level optical drive playing Blu ray, DVD, CD, MP3 and MP4 with a BR-DVD/CDRW - HDMI/Mini Display in and out - Three 3.5mm inputs (Headphones, Mic, and one for both HPs and Mic) I purchased mine just over 7 weeks ago @ $4.7k ($4k without the corsair 1tb SSD) I LOVE this notebook though it is (to say the least) an MSi, Origin, Asus, Razer, and Sager REAPER! lol (Nothing against Asus ROG's pc line I own a Asus ROG G750JX and it is an amazing machine for $2k).
jesus man. 4.7k!!!!!!! i could buy a car with that. infact i could buy a car with a 5th of that. but, besides that. holy shit, and i didnt actually realize that sli of integrated gpu's was a thing until i saw you post that and i researched it a bit more
Nite Kroller Yup. SLi enabled GPUs not only allow seamless integration of a multi-monitor system, but it also is quite necessary for 3D anything. In reference to the price point...The AW 18 I have was $4,100 MSRP then I added a $599 (USD) 1TB Crucial SSD to my :C drive for a total of $4.7k. Many say that this is because it is Alienware and that is the height of ignorance. The GPUs that are in my AW18 (the Nvidia GeForce GTX 880m 8gb) are going for $1.15k per unit on Newegg.com and as I have two (2) of these in my AW18 that is $2.3k just for my GPUs. Now add in the $950 i7 Quad-Core 4910QM @ 4.1GHz, 16gb GDDR3 dual ch. RAM, the 1TB SSD, 256gb SSD, 1TB (5400 RPM with 80gb cache), a 60Hz 5ms 1920x1080p HD 18.4" "Truelife" monitor, cooling systems, a 8gb Bluray, DVD, CD, MP3, MP4 player/RW burner, x3 3.5mm input jacks for headsets, mic, etc, HDMi in/out port, display in/out ports, x2 3.0 & x2 2.0 USB ports, LED lighting configs, 1 year warranty, 1year tech support, and a 1 year accidental damage coverage. I'm sure there are a few things I missed however I believe you get the point. If you made an attempt to build this PC yourself you would burn @ least $5.5k (I know, I tried). As a cliff note two other companies I saw make just as fast of a PC but in a 17.3" unit: ORIGIN was most expensive @ $5.6k.
I build my own pcs. My favorite pcs to work off of are NOT alienware. I use powerspec. There pcs are all abouth the graphics and speed. The storage too but not like an alienware. Alienware is a big pc title because it has so much memory on there pcs, But really people who buy alienwares are dumb.
Wow. Compared to my current laptop, the fans are silent. That is how loud my fans are compared to the alienware fans. The fans on my laptop when idle make the same noise as the fans on the laptop when they are working as hard as they can. And my laptop still gets VERY hot.
Pretty Honest review I realized that alienware laptops are just opposite of portable laptops but has pretty decent gpu considering for laptop.. overall its something to consider for buying semi-portable high-graphics laptops for gaming, and other work-related use :) 乃
I got a Lenovo Y-50. (Lenovo ideapad y50-70, i7 processor, gtx 860m, 1TB hardrive, 16 max ram, ultra hd screen, touchscreen (It came for the same price as the non touch version so why not) and im luvin it.
Dmitry, I have a question. Everyone is talking about how these cheap $400-$500 gaming desktops are better than consoles, but I havnt found a good $400-$500 gaming PC that is actually good or worth buying. So, if you had a price limit of $500 would you buy a gaming desktop with it? And if so which model? Thanks!
I have to thank Linus Tech Tips for showing me and many others, this amazing channel! By the way, I would go for a $1000 ultrabook and a beast $2,000 gaming PC, and have better portability, and WAY better gaming performance when I should be gaming!
Performance-wise, it's not much better than my Core i5 3570, GTX 660 Ti rig that costs half as much. A better alternative to this laptop would be to build a good gaming rig, and a decent laptop for work and passing time. My laptop is an HP dv7 with an A10 APU, it plays Skyrim and does Illustrator and Photoshop. My rig and laptop with all their peripherals together cost under $2k. Very good review, though!
Hey Dmitri. You gamers are almost legendary in terms of the exacting and hardnosed specifications that you place upon your DTRs. Yet, I thought your review was very insightful. Indeed, I was impressed with the speakers. Although, it's hard to hear in a UA-cam video, I still don't think the fans were all that loud. So, do these come with SSD? Finally, my uses might include video production, multitrack recording, stock/option trading and applications in differential/multivariable calculus thx
These videos deserve way more views than they get, such good quality it's awesome.
one of the best video reviews I could find online, awesome review mate!
James Bryan Esconde no its a one time use laptop. lol of course its rechargeable what laptop isnt?

Prices will be from 2500$ to 5k !

Just got mine for Christmas, so far it's great! Totally worth it. And gets a good 60 fps on Battlefield 4
i cant hear the laptop fan over my comp fan
The best review I've seen. Thank you for being thorough and not doing the review right after you opened it -_- *thumbs up* indeed!
the thing I dont like about it is the battery is not removable externally. It will shorten the life of the battery...
I want one :)
Alien Ware, FITTING name for such a device... Nice to hear such honesty from the narrator. Very constructed criticism of the product. Thank You.
Excellent review man.
Are u planning to buy it ? xD
No man xD Devansh Arora
I don't know why, but I keep coming back to watch this review.
Gaming and laptop doesn't mix. Nice review as always

Shaun Morton Honestly I don't believe that, I'd have to see it with my own eyes :P I hope I'm wrong
***** you are wrong... ROG laptops aren't the best thing to happen Y'know.
Not only is this a coherent and detailed review, but it was also very nicely shot. Very nice work, Dmitriy!
damnn i thought this video was from 2020
The video is editied well
Ordered mine yesterday. Got the basic M17, 750GB HDD, GTX 770 3gb ddr5, i7 3.7ghz. Hope it can handle minecraft.. lol

Watching this video in 2020, .......obsession with old technology
What are you guys capturing video with?
It's a DSLR, I know that for sure.
But what DSLR, what lenses? :O
Nineshadow i believe initially he had a 60d, but i think they got 5dMk2 after
:D

Do a video review of the Alienware 14!
At that point you should just buy and MSI or ASUS gaming laptop.

Desktop inside PC gaming master race.
Thanks for a great review! I like how you pay attention to details and use on-screen infograms. Many other reviewers can learn a lot from you.
To turn off keyboard lights is F12... Only thing about this that he didn't kwow...
I love my Alienware 17. No matter what you do or say people will either hate it or love it.
:( A pc i only can dream about.
Im getting this for christmas!! Im super excited

yes alienware laptops are awesome i agree, but it is unavoidable, you will have overheating problems
Jang Ye Won Anyone who has decent knowledge in computer hardware, knows you can build a beast comp with $1000. let them waste there cash
Sorry for not tagging you (using my phone) but my Alienware never goes above 50- 60 degrees with heavy gaming
***** sure.. but i dont care. Im super happy with my buy

Amen. Show me any given Alienware laptop or PC and I will show you a better performing, higher quality, lighter laptop for cheaper.
I am soo going to play gta v on Alienware 17. Btw, your video are awesome.

nice thorough review, but you forgot to mention the display (other than the non-gloss). quality and VIEWING ANGLES! I think potential shoppers (not me personally) would like to know! =]
is it good for minecraft?!
I own one and i run 60 fps no matter what. And when i record i run 40 fps u can check it out on my channel if you'd like! :D have a good day!
XgraphicgamerX when i play minecraft with my gtx 780 i am getting about 160fps (Costum MC)
Don't Buy Alienware...
Build A Custom Gaming PC
i get 270fps with this machine in mc
XgraphicgamerX Das it? My desktop (Under $1000) gets 130+ when recording, I don't upload though because I don't want to waste my time getting 50 subs that don't actually watch.
what would be a better deal (considering performance and price):
'Alienware 17' or 'MSI GE70 Apache'?
Damn those look like the benchmarks of a £1,000 Desktop.. ridiculous..
I get almost 2x frame rate on my >$700 desktop XD
8BitPC well obviously you could get two times the frame rate on a computer that costs over $700. For all I know you could be talking about a $20,000 computer.
8BitPC The GTX780M is comparible to the desktop GTX660/HD7850 in terms of raw performance. The i7-4800MQ will destroy any CPU you have considering you have a $700 budget computer so I doubt you would get twice the frame rates on that desktop compared to this laptop. Unless you have at least a GTX780 or i5 4670k to even exceed twice as much frame rates..
Daniel Salyer Yep, my bad... I meant to put the > the other way lol
jimmys tempura Yes, I guess I was exaggerating a little...
I have it and I freakin love it! And remember guys, cost and worth are two different things! ;)
Do any minecrafters out there know if this is a good computer to use for minecraft?
Are you serious, with this maxed out minecraft waill get 300 fps.If you make the settings crappy you can easily get over 1000 fps WHILE RECORDING!
Andrew Kim And, the other way, i got a PC with GTX 780 TWINFROZR III OC EDITION
i7-4770K OC (Sorry, can´t remember all the different specs details).
Andrew Kim On what game? ^^
Wont give up my M14x R2, looks so much better ! :)
People are saying you could build a PC with the same specs for a lot less. I want to get this ONLY because I have zero knowledge of building a custom PC... Fuck I wish I knew more lel
+renagaid8 it is really easy just research
Dude it's not that hard, I did it without any help except UA-cam and the LinusTechTips forum. You get a lot more out of your money with it and it's so much more upgradable.
I have a 1 year old Alienware M14X and it works wonders.
Watchin video of a laptop which i'll be not able to buy ! Lol
youll find most of these laptops were given out to students signing up for dodgy college courses like myself
Abhishek Sathe That's why Christmas is right around the corner ^_^
What is the best alien ware laptop to buy ? The alien ware 13,14,17, or the alien ware 18 laptop which one is the best one to buy ?
+sandy1234853 Any Desktop is a Laptop if you're strong enough...
+UA-camCommenter lol
+sandy1234853 maybe MicroAtx pc will reduce the weight and can be easily carried to places.
i watched this while transferring a toon to Bleeding Hollow -_- but i'm glad to watch this...looking into buying a Asus ROG G75 again hehe. keep up the great reviews!
For over $3000 30 fps on BF4 is complete shit.... Honestly if you own an Alienware PC, I truly feel sorry for you're inability to do any sort of research before purchasing a computer.
can you help us building one pc with the sames specs, with lower price??
Manuel Lara Castillo Yes we can.
its a laptop though..
I found this review to be very interesting and helpful. I would watch more videos like this.
Overpriced...
This is much like buying a lamborghini, the only reason to purchase this exotic car is because:
1- you have the money
2- you want to show off
same as alienware computers
***** alright you made a good point about the MAC thing, I agree, but I think you are wrong saying they are badly made.
Dell is worldwide manufacturing pc & server provider, they make quality machines, maybe not the fastest but damn near bullet proof. they take the extra step to make sure their machines wont die on you.
Unlike newer laptop makers (razr, gigabyte, etc etc) that just recently started doing machines, Dell has been at this for a while.
And they apply the same quality standards to their subdivisions (alienware)
A clear example is the fact that many gaming notebooks coming out now are trying to go with the thin form factor, which is alright but alienware remains with their thick form factor to ensure better cooling.
I can understand anyone hating that behemoth of a "laptop"
But i cant understand anyone hating the m11x for it being big & bulky,, it is tiny beautiful machine, look it up!
and yes, even though they are nice, they are too overpriced. I have to agree with that 100%. :(
Get an msi laptop, much cheaper much better.
Dat single fan doe.
If you have the moeny avoid the loud noise MSIs, they're fully chinese made, all parts are cheap and unreliable.
Asus For sure, cheaper but still amazing build quality, the Republic of gamers(ROG) series are amazing
you can't get a gaming laptop under 1k, that's a myth
Sure you can, it would just have to be refurb or used, although there are a few out there that are new. Just look around.
Good to know when your starting a UA-cam Chanel
Don't Buy This!, BUILD YOUR OWN
^Vouch. Best advice anyone can give you when buying Alienware, or Dell in general.
this is a laptop dude, not a desktop
Manifest Teach me how you can build your own laptop.
Ilias Joels He meant build your own desktop.
Manifest Everybody knows desktops perform better that's no mystery but NOT everyone wants a desktop.
great review and very informative please have more gaming laptop reviews
We just released our MSI GE70 review, make sure to check that out as well :D
dissapointing benchmarks for such an expensive laptop.
***** This laptop can be upgraded too -_-
OcedarMopzar yes it can, and it will cost even more!
you are buying a name, not a gaming pc, and iits also a laptop not a gaming desktop, you get half the performance as a 1,000 dollar PC
Loved your review! Super informative
typical overpriced alien ware
built pc is better lol
Can't carry a PC though.
TemplarX2
yeah I can I have 2 hands bitch nigga
myfreetime123
Yea, only a moronic nerd will carry a big ass PC everywhere instead of a laptop in an elegant bag. That's why you'll never get laid (zero style point). And you are much weaker than me, bitch. I'm 220 lbs of steel muscle, less than 10% fat.
I'll stick with high end laptops for my business and gaming needs.
Fuck PCs. This crap should be in prehistory by now.
TemplarX2 Let me see a picture of that sexy body. You're turning me the fuck on
Great Review. Can any gaming laptops play the latest games on Ultra?
alienware is a joke, youre just paying for name brand.
Is this a good laptop for virtually any type of use?
not sexual, the disc drive isnt big enough for your "hardware" but every other use yes it's great
+UA-camCommenter lol gg
In my opinion Alienware is a rip off and you should get asus rog but that's just my opinion
agree
I am curious, when was this one purchased? I just got the 2014 Alienware AW18 - 18.4" Full HD 1920x1080 (3D & 1440p capable) 120Hz 2ms screen - 4900MQ @ 4.0GHz - Duel SLi Nvidia GeForce GTX 880m 8gb GPUs (total 16gb dedicated graphics memory) - 24gb 1600MHz duel ch. GDDR3 RAM - 3 drive bay (1tb SSD, 256gb SSD, 1TB HDD @ 5400 RPM w/80gb cache) - Tri level optical drive playing Blu ray, DVD, CD, MP3 and MP4 with a BR-DVD/CDRW - HDMI/Mini Display in and out - Three 3.5mm inputs (Headphones, Mic, and one for both HPs and Mic)
I purchased mine just over 7 weeks ago @ $4.7k ($4k without the corsair 1tb SSD) I LOVE this notebook though it is (to say the least) an MSi, Origin, Asus, Razer, and Sager REAPER! lol (Nothing against Asus ROG's pc line I own a Asus ROG G750JX and it is an amazing machine for $2k).
jesus man. 4.7k!!!!!!! i could buy a car with that. infact i could buy a car with a 5th of that. but, besides that. holy shit, and i didnt actually realize that sli of integrated gpu's was a thing until i saw you post that and i researched it a bit more
Nite Kroller Yup.
Mr. NotYourCup A 4.7k costum build Pc would have been much better than your Laptop!
But its still a beast !
True but if u have a custom built pc its better in graphics and faster
Alienware is cool but it is always better to spend the cash on a custom built desktop, always.
qualty is shit *****
+will ant you buy a gaming/desktop replacement for power, if a,PC fails to offer that for its price, then it is a bad product
ImportantStuff alienware got so great to people because of how they look and there name. not because of the actual pc.
this is why for gaming, i got with my pc :) can play all these games over 60fps at all times with a $1200 system i built
Wow. Compared to my current laptop, the fans are silent. That is how loud my fans are compared to the alienware fans. The fans on my laptop when idle make the same noise as the fans on the laptop when they are working as hard as they can. And my laptop still gets VERY hot.
Good review mate. Thanks.
I understand that a year ago it wasn't all that good but now is it worth it?
I love alienware. Im really thinking about buying this laptop it will be perfect for traveling.
is this still worth enough for laptop these day? or better pick Lenovo y520 ?
Planing on buying this soon!!
Loudness of a speaker is great and all but the quality of the audio is a big factor as well
Really like your work ! Nice work dude ! ;)
Is this a good laptop to play Vindictus or Tera Online? Please I need answers!
Thank you
Pretty Honest review I realized that alienware laptops are just opposite of portable laptops but has pretty decent gpu considering for laptop.. overall its something to consider for buying semi-portable high-graphics laptops for gaming, and other work-related use :) 乃
They've improved it's much better now getting 80 Fps ultra battlefield 4
I got a Lenovo Y-50. (Lenovo ideapad y50-70, i7 processor, gtx 860m, 1TB hardrive, 16 max ram, ultra hd screen, touchscreen (It came for the same price as the non touch version so why not) and im luvin it.
just got one today. very cool!
Even though this isn't 4k or 1440p, this image quality is amazing for 1080p!
Is it worth buying in 2016 for 800eur? Almost exactly the same without ssd and with 8GB of RAM.
How would the gaming performance compare to compare to a PS4 or an Xbox One?
iPhone vs laptop which should I buy
good review, iam thinking of getting this with the gtx970m so would i get more fps then you did (sorry new to pc gaming)
Thanks!
Thanks for all the information, we can play pc games?, I mean physically, I can not see the dvd drive or only online games?
Which is better laptop gaming Alienware 17 or Razer blade ? Bcoz my budget is $1.5k :( pls tell me which is better . Answer me pls .
The battery life isnt my favourite but, it is one of my fav laptops :)
I wanted to know which video editing software do you use ?
I am not a big laptop fan, but what did you expect to get from a laptop while playing metro the last light?
I have to admit, alienware laptop may not be worth it, but it definitely looks awesome!
I'd take the G750 any day, especially because of its wedge shape..
this laptop is beast btw that was a good review thanks liked...subs already
A laptop that would be too scared to carry around with me. It not bad for being grossly overpriced. I do like the sound.
Bought this in 2013, still works 10 years later . No issues .
Wondering if I can make upgrades now tbh 🤔, any suggestions?
3g vram still works for you?
You can upgrade gpu on it
