Some people will shame it but I personally love this movie
I do too!❤️
I agree with you, this is the only monster verse film that felt real to me, the characters and the action and the stakes felt real, the other films just feel like cartoons. No hate to those who like that type of film but I want a monster film that is serious
Me too
It's a decent enough introduction to Godzilla/Gojira. At least it isn't TriStar Godzilla.
This movie would have been perfect if it had had about...20 more minutes of Godzilla.
I love it too.
The 'kiss of death' scene is still one of the most badass Godzilla moments like god damn
I thought the tail whip into the building was even better
@@user-uq4gr5nl5o both are epic finishers
The non-Godzilla moment would be the HALO jump scene.
GODZILLA WINS
FATALITY
@@user-uq4gr5nl5oboth are equally epic, but kiss of death was just on a whole nothah level
The best thing about the Monsterverse are the
sound effects like Godzilla charging his atomic
breath that wss insanely good
That sound effect is so badass, goosebumps EVERY time
I remember watching this movie at a theatre. People started laughing when he did the atomic breath😞
The factoids that blew my mind when I first learned it is that this version of Godzilla stands 355 feet tall, has a tail measurement of 550 ft 4 in from base to tip, and the volume of his roar is 174 decibels.
And the fact that Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson co-starred in this movie as a husband and wife duo with a young son, then in the MCU as twins Wanda and Pietro Maximoff in Avengers: Age Of Ultron is a mindfuck.
Only to those who are incapable of distinguishing acting from reality. 🤪
Or those who didn't read Marvel's Ultimates. @@44excalibur

I had the exact same reaction when Godzilla did his atomic breath. The way it starts powering up from his tail to his head is so awesome and when he finally blasts his atomic breath, I cheered my freaking head off.
I still remember my reaction when I saw that in theaters. I was like “What’s with that blu… oh damn. Oh shit. Is it? YES!” No one was mad at me shouting “YES” cause they were cheering and clapping along to that awesome sight.
especially after how much they screwed up the previous version :>
Trust me when I say that I went to see this at the movies on my birthday, which was exactly the day the movie was released in my country,Chile, so I'm not going to lie when I tell you that the experience was unique, listening and seeing goji for the first time (after being disappointed by the 1998 film) was simply the best gift I could have received that 2014
So its nice to see others enjoying this movie,i like it,flaws and all!
i saw it in theatres too which was rare for me loved this movie so much.
@@EarlTheGoddd for me it was rare too,but i gotta say...0 regrets
- Fun fact Ken Watanabe's character is named after the director of various Godzilla films Ishirō Honda & the scientist in the original 1954 film Dr. Daisuke Serizawa. Also he asked them to used Godzilla’s original Japanese name “Gojira
- Notice that in the Brody home in 2014 you can see that there is a terrarium that says Mothra another one of Godzilla fellow Kaiju
- Haruo Nakajima the man who was Godzilla in a suit for the original 1957 film stated that he enjoyed the film
Gojira is a great name, Ken was right to insist on keeping it.
This film was visually amazing. Even with the limited screen time if the titular Godzilla, it reverberates the feeling of actual gigantic monsters suddenly appearing in the human world and just wrecking it.
This film was so good, its director got to film Star Wars Rogue One, arguably the best Star Wars movie out of all of them (Empire Strikes Back is neck and neck).
The fact that they 'blue-balled' us for awhile is what made the fights so great in the first place; built the tension, the anticipation, and then the payoff was so much better. Imo, that was the whole point (and also suitable for a Godzilla re-introduction/opening story)
^Meanwhile, the films that follow don't need to do that, so you'll probably get off on them even better :P
Also, we actually get more Godzilla scenes in this one than in the original 1953/54 one. People tend to forget that the original movies had a ton more humans than monster scenes.
I think the main issue people had with little godzilla is that it reminds too many where the transformers are often barly in their own movies and too focused on the humans.
Seeing this in the theatre was so epic.
Okay, but you both NEED to watch Godzilla Minus One. It came out this year and was made by the studio that made the original Godzilla films. It is almost flawless
I know a lot of people gripe about how much human story there is in this film, but honestly all the OG Godzilla films he barely has screentime. I still absolutely love the newer ones but King of the Monsters is DEFINITELY my favorite of the newer ones
After seeing Minus One, I think the main real complaint is not that it’s human driven, but the human story that is given to us is… lacking. People just couldn’t put into words because it hadn’t clicked what it was exactly that bothered them.
that first roar to this day gives me goosebumps. I wish I could watch these with you all lol
Bryan Cranston is underrated. He can go from comedy to drama at the drop of a hat and does it with excellence. I would love to see him and Kathy Bates in a movie together.
Bryan Cranston in real life is a total nutcase.
@@44excalibur couldn't be more wrong 💯
@@rileymcdonald6296 Did you see him on Bill Maher's podcast? Total nutcase.
@@seanking1775 When I say underrated, I mean you don’t really hear his name when A list actors are mentioned. Usually you think Denzel or Tom Hanks or Leo. Bryan Cranston can definitely hang with the best of them though.
@@rileymcdonald6296dude Bryan is another brainwashed Hollywood idiot, just because you like his acting doesn’t make him cool in real life
The plotline involving the MUTOs was actually inspired by the plot of the original 1956 movie 'Rodan,' where Rodan was also trying to save its mate.
I know a lot of people rag on this movie for how it conceals the kaiju and the fact that they kill off the dad so early, but honestly I think his screen time is perfect for the story. I adore this movie. The way it plays with suspense and the cinematic quality of the slow reveal is sooooo good. And I enjoy the human characters in this more than the sequels. They feel more subtle and grounded. And the opening scene is an absolute masterpiece. The rising tension, the drama, the death of the mom, the despair of the dad. It’s exceptional. And the slow reveal of the kaiju gives the final showdown so much gravity. You really feel the scale of their impact, honestly more than the sequels, which I enjoy for the spectacle in their own right.
When I was a child in the 60s, I used to have Godzilla nightmares. I wouldn't change a thing.
I’m glad you guys liked it. One of my favorite Godzilla movies even if some people aren’t a fan of how it was done. The director Gareth Edwards made these monsters and scope of it all so good that it never really was replicated since.
The reason they went with the blue balling cause they didn’t want to “blow their load” and went with the Jaws effect where you don’t see the Shark until the very end with a explosive finale.
Check out Kong: Skull Island since it’s the next one in the current American series!
Next up in the Monsterverse is Kong: Skull Island. Kong is set in the early 70's. Also, Kong is only 100' tall in it but he's not full grown. Then it's Godzilla: King Of The Monsters and it has 3 of Godzilla's classic foes, Mothra, Rodan and Ghidorah! The fourth movie is Godzilla vs Kong and the fights are epic. On Apple TV the series Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters is set in the 50's and after the events of Godzilla. It stars Kurt Russel and his son Wyatt playing the same character. Coming in April is Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.
As a major Godzilla fan myself, I love this movie
When you hear Godzilla Roar your whole body shivers when you hear it
Thanks for the reaction. This has to be my favorite version of Godzilla from his origins to design.
This film is actually the first installment of a cinematic universe called the MonsterVerse! There’s three more films after this one that’s connected, and a new one comes out in April.
I can never tell what I like more Godzilla sound charging up, or his roar
You guys should absolutely watch the next of the movies, the monster fights get better and better
No they don't in gvk it's pretty trash now it's slaps and ahit it looks more like a human fight and they make godzilla look more human and human the way he movied
All the movies downgraded. Especially the garbage King Kong movie. They literally ruined King Kong. Godzilla is now a pink power ranger.
No it's bad bad
They get worse my dude XD
Out of all the Monsterverse Godzilla 2014 is my top favorite of all
You guys, thank you SO much for uploading this tonight. It's been a shitty week, and the world's funniest twins reacting to the world's greatest Gaia's Wrath movies? Immediate upturn.
They honestly are the funniest lol.
This looked and especially sounded insane at the movies particularly when Godzilla charged up before blasting
Y'all should definitely see the second one😊
I am so excited for you guys to get to the sequels, Godzilla is hands down one of my favourite franchises.
You guys will LOVE the Monster verse!
Yea, I still remember my little "angriness" at cinema about those 2-3 cutted fight in the middle part of the movie.
One or two times (maybe seen on TV) it's ok, then it's starting to be frustrating.
Other than that, the movie was pretty good !
Godzilla is awesome. I love his roar. Fun fact that eeerahoh! That everyone knows is Godzilla, is actually a slowed down recording of the side gate to Toho studios. It's just a recording of them opening and closing the gate. I love how dinky things become God level.
Well, actually, the Godzilla roar was created by original Godzilla composer Akira Ifukube putting a leather glove on his hand and rubbing it against the strings of a bass.
What is true? I always heard the sound was a glove on a bass. Where did you get the info that it was a gate at Toho?
It is true but the glove was covered in resin... And original original Godzilla roar can be heard in Gojira 1954, rest was slightly modified over time
@@IamSystemsbusterI think he meant the Legendary Godzilla (?)
One of my favourite kaiju is the MUTOs in the monster verse don’t get me wrong I love godzilla as well
Please watch Cloverfield 🙏
Now that’s a good one.
@@shotguntony4730 thank you. 😊
@OctoKrool I look forward to you seeing the rest and the Godzilla -1 which is not only the best but looks and sounds the best and was made for a mere 15 million. I hope it sends a message that Hollywood spending is insane and we are slacking in production. Was a treat to see you both fall in love with this. Thank You
This is my favorite movie in this franchise. Great reaction bros! 👍🏿 I think that you'll enjoy the sequels. More monster fights, less humans.
i love the monsterverse , godzilla king of monsters and kong skull island are the best ones imo
I would love to see a reaction to an original black and white Godzilla movie. We loved then in the 60s but they are hilarious now! I always loved when Godzilla jumped up and down when he hurt the other monster lol!
This was a great introduction to a new iteration of Godzilla, but IMO King Of The Monsters really shows how badass this Godzilla is. I think you two will love that one even more.
😂
It made me happy knowing that you guys loved Godzilla as kids. Godzilla was also one favorite things as a kid. And I was so hyped seeing this in theaters with 3D.
I know it was popular to rag on this movie for how little Big G was in it, but god DAMN do they not screw around when its time to show him. Hearing that roar in the theatre damn near blew my hair off!
takes forever for the guy to show up, but man when he does.....
20:46 when i saw this scene in IMAX, literally everyone screamed with applause for Godzilla. so fun!!!
"Can't I get just a full on monster fight?!?" There's more in the sequel. ;) For once they actually listened to us when we all pretty much said that.
Man, that Golden Gate Bridge scene from that movie is what made me a fan of Godzilla in the first place when I first watched this movie for the first time
It’s the MonsterVerse y’all. Awesome.
My favorite movies from MonsterVerse are Godzilla (2014), Godzilla King of the Monsters, and Kong: Skull Island!
So all of them except Godzilla vs Kong.
@@PsychotiX1022 Basically, yes. I'm not a big fan of this movie, they kinda went rogue on this one.
@PsychotiX1022 bad's yes
Notice how the people weren't even scared of Godzilla when he walked past them? They were just in complete awe. They only started screaming and panicking when the soldiers started shooting at him.
I loved this movie, not for the characters, but because of the Godzilla tease shots and then the giant monster battles. ❤
OMG this a perfect start to my weekend! Thank you so much for this you guys ❤❤❤❤
In one of the most calm and cool voices:
🤣"Oh man bro, we've got to let this go boom boom"🤣
I think its the best Godzilla monster. Too bad it has so little screen time. In its own movie!
That's pretty typical for Godzilla movies.
Fun Fact: Haruo Nakajima was the original actor who was in the Godzilla suit in the movies from fhe 1950s- the early 1970s he actually was briefly stationed on the 3rd Yamato-Class battleships Shinano that got converted into the Shinano-Class super carrier due to the loss of the main 4 main carriers of the Kido Butai Kaga, Aiagi, Soryu, abd Hiryu at the Battle of Midway. Haruo Nakajima was transferred off the Shinano just before she was moved to a different location to be completed out of reach of America planes but she was sunk by the submarine USS Archerfish before she even saw any actual.
You have so much content to look forward to if you follow this series of movies/tv shows
You got (in order)
Kong: Skull Island
Godzilla: King of the Monsters
Godzilla vs Kong
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters (currently streaming, episode 9 dropped this week)
*I ADORE THIS MOVIE THE SHOTS AND MUSIC AND GROUNDED FEELING🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻*
The reason they give so little of godzilla is to build the hype for when he's on screen, and it shows the whole war from a humans perspective I just love it, all the monsters looked so big cause of the way it was shot, the other movies in the monsterverse doesn't hit the same like this
So happy you guys are watching Godzilla movies finally!
I think, above all, the sound design is my absolute favourite. Especially the train bridge- sublime. Great vid, guys 👌
One of my fave moments of this movie (apart from the fight scenes) is when Big G noticed Brody and just shares this Look with him. Like, "...what a fricking day, man." It makes me chuckle every time.
1:50 in Pacific Rim one monster dig to a bunker.
Also in an official comic the skeleton 🩻 was a cousin to Godzilla.
This movie gives me chills and huge smiles every time. It's not 2001 or Braveheart, but it's a fantastic viewing experience.
As someone who saw this film in theaters, THAT 👏SKY 👏DIVING 👏SCENE👏Had me drooling 🤤😂
these guys are an absolute mood
The MonsterVerse is amazing!
The scary thing about the Big G is that he’s literally just woken up from a 50 year nap without any coffee. This is Zilla when he’s sluggish and grumpy. Our boi is gonna be hella faster and meaner in the coming movies once he’s fully awake.
Welcome to the Monsterverse! You guys are going to love the hell out of King of the Monsters!
When I first watched this movie, I hadn't realized that Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron-Taylor Johnson played the main characters.
The twins from Age of Ultron!
I can’t decide the feeling of watching this in the cinema the sounds went through my soul
YES!!!
Welcome To The Monsterverse.
saw this in IMAX when in came out...... it was so intense.................. keep in mind earlyToho Godzilla movies always averaged around 10-15 minutes of screen time for the monsters
Godzilla…Lord of the Cankles!
I love this movie. Saw it multiple times in the theaters. Feeling Godzilla’s stomps in iMAX was amazing.
Ppl shit on this film for not having a lot of Godzilla but as a godzilla fan who wasnt expecting another godzilla film until 10 years later, this was filled the empty void that i had been missing.
I just watched this movie a week ago. But I'm old and dozed off a couple of times. Clearly, I need to go back and watch again. Great reaction!
Can’t wait for all of these!
From the first glimpse of the fighting, it is clear to me that Godzilla was gong up against top adversaries and the next glimpse showed he was not doing well and getting his butt kicked, so I'm perfectly happy being spared seeing that and only seeing part of it and then when he finally gets the chance to start getting the best of them and winning.
it baffles me to no end that people criticized this at the time (and probably still do) because the human characters weren't interesting or developed enough. this is a movie about a giant radioactive lizard fighting 2 giant alien bugs
If that is what the movie is about, then why is 75% of the movie focused on the human characters? As well as not even showing the first fight between Godzilla and the MUTOs?
Compare this to Minus 1. Minus 1 has even less monster action in it than this does, but it's one of my favorite Godzilla movies, because the characters and story are interesting. This one, the interesting character is killed 15 min into the movie, and is replaced by nothing.
Also the humans are idiots. "These things eat radiation, and has shown to not be effected by nukes. Let's nuke them."
@@Eidlones this movie is from the humans POV
@mahgeetahh Then make that point of view, the people we're following, interesting to watch. They aren't.
Having a human perspective on these monsters is fantastic, but that can't be ALL there is. This is a 2 hour movie, not a 6min theme park ride.
@@mahgeetahh So is Minus One, but one is loved the other is Godzilla 2014.
Looking forward to the moment when this channel witnesses Godzilla Minus One.
Movie is amazing, don’t care what anyone says and it gave us a legendary meme to boot “Let them fight”. The first 20 mins are just incredible with Cranston really chewing up every scene.
You boys should start to watch Monarch. It is going to explain every question we have about Godzilla and his realm.
Oh yeah this movie was amazing to watch in theaters in the dark woth all the beautiful sound work on this movie it was amazing just like my favorite outta these movies kong skull island which I highly recommend
Electric fire breath is awesome.
I love the disrespect of Godzilla's fatality at the end lol. Holds up so well. Great reaction guys, hopefully you'll react to more movies from this universe.
I saw this movie in the cinema all by myself when it came out and it was an amazing experiencce
The first time godzilla roars in this movie, the amount of people in the cinema who would need a new set of pants is insane
Hello,
I just started watching your guys videos about a few weeks ago. Literally the best UA-cam reaction Channel when it comes movies.
Much love from Canada
that. creepy music as they jump out of the plane is so badass
I've never related to a comment in a reaction video more than: "HE'S DOING THE THING!!"
You are going to LOVE Godzilla: KOTM. It's a big love letter from classic Godzilla fans to classic Godzilla fans.
I've always been a fan of Godzilla ever since it came out back in 1989
Grate reaction . Loving it . the best was the one from intro on the airfield :)
Old school giant monster movies: Gorgo and 20 Million Miles to Earth are classics. They will blue-ball as the story develops, but the endings are grand.
Eyo, such a great choice. All of the legendary monsterverse is so fun.
Bros., even the trailer to this film was totally sick! 😁👍👍👍
I freaking love Godzilla! I’m 54 and grew up watching all the old ones. This movie is great but when you see king of the monsters you’ll go insane!!!!!! This is just a starter movie. Lol
The EMP is important - these movies are originally a warning against nuclear weapons... and the monsters got their extra-ness because of nuclear weapon testing
Can’t wait to see you guys watch more Godzilla movies.
This video has so many funny moments XD
