  • This week, we’re bringing you the latest video from a series that we call Home Coffee Brewing with April. For our final video from Copenhagen, we are visiting Bryan to brew some filter coffees together.
We believe that innovation in coffee brewing starts at home, and that some of the most special and meaningful interactions with coffee can take place within your own kitchen.
As we are frequently travelling visiting our international partners, we decided to introduce this format as a way to interact with you on a different level whilst maintaining the frequency of our videos.
In this video, Bryan shares two coffees from American roaster Black & White. The first, an instant coffee, is an interesting novelty and Patrik and Bryan enjoy this cup whilst preparing the pour over. The second, a thermal shocked coffee from Granja Paraiso 92, is brewed using an April Plastic Brewer, a DF64 grinder, 185 Kalita paper filters, cups and server from MK Studios, Acaia scales and a Brewista pouring kettle.
We hope you enjoy this episode and we look forward to bringing you the upcoming batch of videos from Chicago.

Awesome to see some B&W instant! A quick note from my experience with those instant powders, I found that I need to add some cold/cool water to the dry mix before pouring in the hot water. I’ve heard that the dry crystals are “fragile” and pouring hot water directly onto them makes the coffee taste more burnt/harsh. I tried both and it did seem to make a big difference!

Do you think the type of burrs in the grinder could influence the bitterness? I know the standard burrs in the df64 are more of an espresso forward burr set. Which can just be preference based. Great episode, I look forward to these every Friday!

Hey April, When you introduce a coffee to your shops how long do you let it rest for? Or do you work with pregrinding coffees for example.
