  • This week, we’re bringing you the latest video from a series that we call Home Coffee Brewing with April. We are making our first visit in the city of Kyoto, Japan. We meet with Jum Yama to brew filter coffee together using the April Plastic Brewer.
We believe that innovation in coffee brewing starts at home, and that some of the most special and meaningful interactions with coffee can take place within your own kitchen.
As we are frequently travelling visiting our international partners, we decided to introduce this format as a way to interact with you on a different level whilst maintaining the frequency of our videos.
In this video, Jum Yama brews a Colombian Washed Castillo he has roasted himself for his upcoming roastery and coffeeshop project Solkatt. He uses a Comandate Grinder to prepare his 11g dose, brewing with local filtered water using a Kalita Pouring Kettle.
We hope that you enjoyed the first video from Kyoto, and our short introduction to the city. We look forward to bringing you several more videos from Kyoto before moving on to the next destination in the series.
Also, a quick shout out to Nobuaki Matsui at Hip Hop for his influence and frequent mentions within this video.

I really like his approach, with a slightly lighter dose and one long, single poor after blooming. Thanks again for this brew at home series, April. )

I've broken two of your glass brewers! It really is beautiful. My favorite brewer ever. Eventually ill pick up another one, or maybe get the wood

We should start selling them in kits of 2-3 units.

@@coffeewithapril lmao. Maybe but I'm one of those idiots who would only buy one and just tell myself I won't break another

Thank you for another cool video! About the comandante not appearing super often - I have sold mine for example. For me it produced some bitterness to every coffee, especially anything processed and I’ve been very happy switching to Sculptor 078. Less fines, less bitterness

Thank you for sharing. We are also using the Sculptor 078 with some great results. What's the grind size you would use for a standard 12/200 brew?

Thank you for watching and sharing how you are brewing. Any alternations to the recipe or identical apart from the 13g dose? What's the grind size and grinder you would use?
