10:29, 10:56 great to hear these kind statements from Tina about Dawn Wells when she was sick and when she passed away, it shows that Tina did care about Dawn.
As a 60s kid I would race home to watch Gilligan's Island, The Munsters, and the Adam's Family. Tina was a goddess to me and I'm so glad she lives up to that. What an incredibly decent human. Dawn Well's should never have needed a go fund me page.
As a kid born in the 70s I watched these with as much passion as a 60s kid
So TRUE!
Mary Ann, Lily, and Morticia....
Triple serving of yum....
Sylvia Oesterwinter. I agree Dawn Wells didn't need a go fund me page... granted she had money issues like everyone else she could have done fine with celebrity appearances and other ways to make money.................From what I heared she didn't start the Go fund me page a friend of her's did with out asking Dawn Well who got upset at her friend for doing that.
I lived on Stead Air Force Base Nevada at the time these premiered. I too would rush home from school on my Stingray bike just to see these. Then I'd go hiking through the desert. Great times for a young boy. I hope that kids today have something that generates good memories for them too!
I always remember what Alan Hale said in an interview about the show. Hale stated that everywhere he went in the whole world there was love and affection towards him and his character. The Skipper was a role dear to his heart. Hale always brought one his iconic caps along with his belongings whenever he traveled because the fans loved it. Gilligan's Island led to charmed life for these actors.
MisterNewOutlook , I do remember Alan Hale enjoyed being the skipper he wore the hat all the time even long after the show ended... he would also visit children in the hospitals.......one story I hear was near the end of his life he went to visit a sick child at a hospital....the child noticed he was very thin and asked why. he told the child that Gilligan's island was coming back and this time he would get to play Gilligan.....that bit of news made the child happy the child was very sick and did not have much time left....and he wanted to make the child happy...... ironically Alan Hale himself was sick and that was the reason he lost weight.
If it hadn't been for being shipwrecked in that island for all those years, who knows how far Tina's career would have gone.
Growing up in the 70's I loved Gilligan's Island. Tina Louise was such a talented actress. She played Ginger Grant with such sex appeal, yet somehow kept it wholesome & innocent. So wonderful to hear what a smart and classy lady she was in real life. She is still such a beautiful intelligent lady.
The character she played on Dallas(season 1) was great also. She was a wonderful actress
Tina Louise is a very beautiful woman and kindhearted person, a lovely lady.
She is a Goddess, all guys who were teenagers in the 60's adored Tina!! On cover of Playboy twice... amazing looks & sad she was denied more serious roles, because of her "Movie Star" comedy act.
I ve read there was a whole lot of shakin' going down in that Tina Louise trailer during coffee and Lunch breaks.
@@ghosty426, she was holding Quaker religious ceremonies?
Thank you for this video. I literally knew nothing about her beyond Gilligan.
I have always loved Tina Louise from the time I first watched Gilligan's Island. She was a goddess to me.
100% with Tina Louise on her calling out exploitative tactics while turning the other cheek.
I love your laugh how wonderful you enjoy this so much, luv!!!!
Wow, what a story is a understatement. There is so much I learned about Tina Louise just now that my respect for her has gone up a lot. Thank you :-)
The more I read about her and the interviews I listened to, really opened my eyes.
She is a good person and remained friends with the cast.
The mark of a great actress, you don't see her in something and you don't immediately don't think ,oh there's ginger grant !!! 🌹
6:42 - Wow! Her beauty is absolutely overwhelming and breathtaking. Who wouldn't want to be stranded on a desert island with her?
I remember growing up thinking she was one of the most beautiful women I'd ever seen!
I know people in the industry who have worked with Tina Louise, and they said she is one of the nicest, most down-to-Earth stars on the planet. She always shows up for work on time and never causes a fuss. I never had the privilege to meet her myself, but I'm so glad my friends got the chance to work with her. xoxox
Thank You for sharing the story of Tina Louise. I watched this show growing up in the mid 60's to the early 70's.
I'm glad to hear Tina is still above ground. She was born same year as my mother. Mom is still alive too!!
Day of the Outlaw is one powerful film. Every performance is a tour de force. Like Marilyn Monroe, Tina Louise was a highly underrated actress.
It's amazing how all the cast are really nice and supportive of each other. Hollywood reputation was toxic. Plenty of shows weren't like that. Thanks
@@davidzumpe3239 Yes! Hollywood is absolutely toxic 😑
Awesome how neat they all loved & respected each other
I didn’t like how the “show” would pit Ginger & MaryAnn against each other, to the public ..they were/are both beautiful in their own ways 🤙🏼🤙🏼
I hardly got to see her anywhere after Gilligan's Island except on the first season of Dallas.
Thank you very much for the info on Tina Louise. I didn't realize half of her talent. As a young man I heard the story of her being difficult but I now have a much better understanding of the situation she was in. I have a lot more respect for her. Thanks again.
My brother was surprised at Tina Louise's career.("She really WAS a movie star?")
Gilligan's Island. I love them all.
IMO, Tina was the perfect actress for the part of Ginger in every way. Not only did she give a great essence of Marilyn Monroe, she really was a movie star. A long with the TV show itself, the question of "Mary Ann or Ginger" will never end. I can't give an answer to that question myself.
WOW!! THANK YOU! .. I had NEVER heard anything about Tina Louise,
I didn’t know how many movies she had been in, 🤗... A fantastic amount .. and she seemed to be a grand actress! I will definitely check out those westerns as others
I had mentioned a comment on your episode of Dawn Wells, I didn’t like how “Hollywood” pitted those two against each other to the public just for buzz, uncool.. they were both fabulous women 💕
It was disappointing to hear how Sherwood was banking💰 HUGE, while the cast made mere bread & butter monies 🤨
Unfortunately I felt it did type cast her, just knowing how brilliant she is
Amazing segment ..
Thank you kindly👍🏼
What a class act. Thank you for putting this out!
I know most people liked Mary Ann. But as a child growing up in the 60s, I liked Ginger.
Yah, I remember that too, LOL !!!
Oh yeah, Ginger was the one I couldnt take my eyes off of for sure. Kinda like that dog & them horses.
Mary Ann and Ginger were nice but my heart was for Jeannie
Like choosing between filet mignon and prime rib.
Ginger Grant was a truly beautiful woman.
One of my favorite Gilligan's Island episodes is the one where Mary Ann gets a bump on the head and subsequently believes that she is Ginger Grant. Tina Louise did a great job of portraying the opposite of Ginger Grant. She is shown with less make up and having a more down to earth persona. Perhaps that was in reality the way Ginger was before her Hollywood fame.
Yes that was a good episode! They were all more skilled than they got credit for :)
Wow, I forgot about that one. Yeah, that was a good fantasy.....🤤.....back in today..... I mean the day 😉
😅😂🤣 I crack myself up 😎
@@paddyneill1964 🤣
Tina Louise already did it in an episode (when the show was still in black and white) in which she played a dowdy spinster like character who came to the island and when they gave her a make-over, she turned out to look just like Ginger.
I forgot all about that episode!....I think that's when I became even more attracted to her
A redheaded angel
I like hearing about these people’s lives because they are interesting people. It’s too bad that these people find new age as their source for success. What good does it do to gain the whole world and lose your soul?

About 20 years ago I saw God's Little Acre on television. I didn't recognize Tina Louise since she looked different from her Ginger character. But at the time I thought that's one of the hottest women I've ever seen. I had to look her up
Wonderful. Thank you for sharing Tina's story.
Yes, a new perspective....I had been under the impression that she didn't get along with the rest of the cast but the facts you present show otherwise, especially her statements on Ms. Wells.
I loved this thank you so much once again she’s a great lady and so is Don Wells make sure you Rest In Peace😎
I loved Gilligan's Island. She was the perfect person to play the movie star. She's so talented. She mentioned she was typed casted after that. What a shame. Looks like to me she can play comedy, drama, musicals, and so many other roles. I have so much admiration for this lady. What wonderful things she had to say about Dawn Wells.
I love your accurate and interesting documentaries. I loved Gilligan's Island and miss all of the actors that have passed on.
When i was a little kid i had such a crush on ginger. When i got older i realized ginger was a red haired version of marilyn monroe. I think ginger was much prettier tho.
Tina Louise 🕊⚘ Bravo
I loved this show when I was a kid. Hell, I’ll still watch it.
Glad to see this . I did not know what a kind and talented person she is , what a sweetheart . Thank you .
Tina Louise was always the black sheep of this series but It is strange now that she is the only surviving star of Gilligans Island.
Really nice to hear the REALITY of why Tina Louise wouldn't be in the "Gilligan's Island" sequels! It's good to know that she wasn't "above" the series and her co-stars (often alleged) and was actually expressing her anger about being used! Thanks for this video!
Well she's a 💎 Diamond A Starseed definitely⁉💯And doesn't look her age Blessings and Health. For Tina Louise🙏💯
That was wonderful, thank you. When I was kid, Gilligan's Island was on 5 days a week.
I wanted to be a cross between the two of them and their characters, when I "grew up".
Ellie May from the Hillbillies was another "role model" for me. I'm using that term lightly. I was young.
I never knew she was such an accomplished actress. She was long before my time (except for Gilligan's Island). I didn't care for her character as Ginger. Too Marilyn Monroe who I never liked. She should have been allowed to play her own part. What kind words she said about Dawn Wells too. Class act all the way.
She described Ginger as a cross between Marilyn Monroe and Lucille Ball.
Who knew? I now have a whole new perspective on Tina Louise. Thank you.
Class act!
That 1 when she said " your funnin me" too much like Elly May
Yeah I thought the same even looked similar
She is much prettier than the character on GI. Gorgeous is the word that best describes her🌞
And she’s still gorgeous! I too think Dallas would have benefited by keeping Tina on the show. She added that authentic Hollywood star feel to the show.
Thanks for the story. I was a cameraman ‘on Entertainment Tonight’ for about a year. I shot an interview with her. She was on a film called ‘Growing down in Brooklyn.’ I was more than a little surprised, I was in the running to shoot that film as a Director of Photography! That’s how I learned that I was not going to get it! As we were finishing, I told her about it, and I asked her who finally got it? She smiled at me, and said “ sweetheart, I saw how you lit the interview,” it should have been you.” It made my day.
She was stunning. Wow!
Thank you Cool Classics, for the info on Tina Louise , aka Ginger Grant, on Gilligan's Island. Till I watched your video I never had the thought to really delve into her background. I find that she along with many other Hollywood, @ TV, land , celebrities were unfairly treated , and inappropriately used by the media, magazine tabloids, and other influence's of the past. In my adolescent years. Miss Tina Louise was as the theme song said, the movie " Star ". My friends and I were concerned with the attainable, or approachable, girl next door, down the street , or locker next to you at school ?. Thus our thoughts turned to little Mary Ann. To Tina Louise, I say you have always been a knock out, Bueatiful woman, even today. I truly never knew until now how talented ,You and many others were. Thank you Cool Classics for the exceptional, video, and Intel , on Miss Tina Louise. 👍💎👍💎👍💎👍💎👍💎🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
First, and I love your films! Thanks!
Awesome! Thank You! :)
I seen her in a number of movies over the years along with the other actors and actresses from Gilligan's Island. They were excellent professionals.
It's great seeing the actors and actresses from early life and how their careers began. Love the bits and pieces that I didn't know. Thanks for great information!!🎥📺
Tina was a class act. Sherwood Schwartz was all about the money, not the actors.
His legacy really shows it.
Look at how all the children on the Brady Bunch were treated.
If it weren't for him, we would have had NO Gilligan's Island.
We can say he could have been better in ways but he was proud of his great shows.
And, the kitsch..
I never knew about Sherwood Schwartz before this!
Tina Louise is a Grand Lady and Class Act. Thank you for this video.
Same. I did not know Tina except for Gilligans Island.
Very interesting indeed.
Thanks for the video & knowledge.
My grandpa used to love this show
Thanks again!
Keep doing your videos like you’re doing when you add these little movie clips helps ,
me like yeah,The way you do it.
She is classy a great talent
Awesome!! Thank you! And best wishes to Tina!!
Both Gals are Class Acts.
Wow, you can see from the clips what a great actress Tina is. Her reasons for not doing the movie (which I thought was pretty awful) are valid and show her integrity. As a comparison with Mr. Schwartz, who didn't share the riches Gilligan's Island enjoyed with the cast, George Lucas when he saw what a huge hit Star Wars was, retroactively included the actors in on profit sharing. Thank you so much for these great videos!
What a classy lady and especially in her early roles she really showed some world class acting!
Brilliant video !! 90% of footage I had not seen b4. A new perspective on Tina. Can't believe she is 87 now.
Great job!
My favorite movie was Sing A Song Of Sing Sing🤙
Thank you so much for making this video ! It helped me understand and appreciate Tina .
Evey character of Gilligan's Island are just great. I loved Jim Backus ( mr magoo) and his true socialite wife on the series. Mrs Howell was a walk-on, well known in Los Angeles high society.
I was in 3rd grade when it started...as most of you over the years ive memorized every episode.
Tina & Dawn huzzah !!
Thank you for this video. It set me straight on some things about Tina.
Really well done. Balanced, honest. Thank you!
I lived in New York for nearly 1 year in 1993 and was walking in Central Park with a friend (who was a native New Yorker) and she spotted Tina Louise wearing a printed scarf over her head and big sunglasses (like Jackie O) and my friend said “Omg ! That’s Tina Louise!” And I looked and indeed it was! You could tell even through the disguise. She has a certain way of carrying herself which was/is unforgettable. She really was a striking character.
The ultimate survivor! She is EXCELLENT in God’s Little Acre. If you ever get the chance, watch it!
Tina Louise is a Movie Star and also a Star from Heaven. Individuals as Louise are Great and Few. I have her record and now can appreciate it more after this video.
I just love your program thank you for sharing.
Very good. I like her more now.
Thank you another great one
A wonderful story indeed!!! Thank you. Cheers Ausgranny 🇦🇺🇦🇺👍👍
Ms Louise sounds like a very rounded performer. I’m sorry she didn’t have the opportunity to expand from the GI into more TV formats
She had a stint on Dallas, but it was a small part.
I was 8 years old when I talked to Tina Louis on the phone in Bakersfield, she was at a fundraiser and I called and asked to talk to her and she she did, I donated my allowance of a dollar. She was so kind even when I said I wanted to marry her, at 8 years old I had no idea what that really meant. Not knowing it, she sent my Mom tickets for a play she was doing there in Bakersfield and after the play I got to see her and she told me who she was and I said, "no your not her", then she did her Ginger voice and I said, "stop trying to be her", she just turned and walked away, being so young I still couldn't separate the actor from the character. Still love her after all these years.😍❤🇺🇸👍
Tina had a clause in her contract for Gillian's Island, removed so that the Professor and Mary Ann credits could be added to the theme song at the end. She is a class act. I was too young to watch the show when it came out, but I watched the reruns endlessly when I was young and drove my parents crazy when they came on.
Yes - that clause was removed.... only AFTER Bob Denver refused to do the show unless Dawn and Russel's characters were included. Bob was the entire reason that happened, Tina did do it, but rather reluctantly.
@@LittleBlueOwl318 She was still willing to work with Bob and cast, because she knew the show was going to work out and wanted to be apart of it. She never made a big deal out of it.
@Wise Old Owl I would not say reluctantly. Once it was brought to her, she removed it without having to be asked twice. It is not like she was the one that left the others out of the song either.
@@CoolClassics My understanding of the credits situation is a little different. I'd read that most of the fan mail was addressed to Dawn Wells, therefore her popularity demanded that she be credited. With that, they couldn't leave Russel Johnson out, so logically they were compelled to credit him as well.
I always thought "...and the rest" in the original theme song was a bit awkward. The rest turned out to be only two people, and maybe that chimpanzee they later found.
As l said before, When it comes to UA-cam narratives, you're #1. Thanks for coming to Tina's defense when so many have "bullied" this poor woman. As the last surviving "castaway", she has done well as a starlet actress, wife (Mrs. Les Crane), mother, grandmother, and entrepreneur.
💜👍
I wanted to be Ginger Grant when I was little; I loved her gowns and jewelry. I loved her red bob hairstyle on Gilligan's Island. My name is Tina and my mother's name is Louise ! LOL - imagine that. She was absolutely gorgeous and almost 90 years old now; I feel so old. 🤣
Ahhh...Ginger❤ 🌴
Another great video. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I always felt Tina in her role as Ginger was the redhead equivalent of Marilyn Monroe.
Tina is a stunningly beautiful woman for decades.
Excellent presentation! Great facts and background stories.
I had no idea about her life, thank you for uploading this. On a side note...@1:14 lovely pic. 🙂❤👍
Two years after MM died, Ginger became the auburn-haired version of her, including a similar hairstyle and of course---the beauty mark. I wish Tina would have stayed on Dallas longer than one season. It was good seeing on weekly TV again after Gilligan's Island.
I like the positive spin on Tina.
People seem to love to trash talk her.
I always thought she was hot.
I honestly don't know the truth, either, and would rather not trash-talk the deceased cast members or Ms. Louise while she's living (and afterwards).
I wasn't there, and, anything that happens between casts, you have to think "actors!" and leave it that. They're human beings but there always seems to be more drama involved behind the scenes in entertainment than other industries.
The longer time goes on, the less pleasant Sherwood Schwartz seems and perhaps explains why his brother (if I remember correctly) sued him years later!
@@AvengerII, sued...over who could create more kitsch?
@@robertsprouse9282 No.
Royalties, and who created what in the shows.
Never work with family in the same business!
@@AvengerII, I still think viewers should sue S. SCHWARTZ for all that kitsch.
You did a fantastic job!! Thanks
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it :)
Nice!
I heard somewhere that at one point Gilligan's Island was the most syndicated show ever. It sure used to come on a lot.
I'm glad I watched this. I have greater respect for Tina Louise now, knowing that the image of her as a spoiled troublemaker was inaccurate. And I'm so glad that she and Dawn Wells had a good relationship.
Maybe you can do an episode on all the guest stars to appear on these shows. The fact that they had so many guest stars on Gilligan's Island is hilarious.
Very informative video, and educational too. Well Done!
I need to watch her movies. I have a new respect for her. Very talented
7:27 Young Richard Crenna. Thought it was Phil Hartman for a sec. They looked a lot alike
Tina is beautiful to look at and beautiful within.
Love love love this video
Tina Louise was a fantastic movie star...I had no idea how many movies she starred in. She really was the movie star. I realize now why she thought she was the star of the show.."Gilligan's Island."
The video was very well produced.. good job.. Loved me some Tina Louise and Mary Ann. Oh!! and Gilligan too lol
