    I hate when shows like this talk about the offroad capabilities of a vehicle and then drive it through conditions I could handle in a golf cart.

    I did recently off-road in regular version of Range Rover Supercharged in Montebello, QC... the climbs and descents at 60+ degrees easy! It's a real capable luxury all-terrain SUV. 0-60 on regular version - 5.4 seconds. I know nothing about reliability or whatever but it does what is built for...

    The mud puddle was cool the first one or two times but after seeing it a 4th and 5th time it got a bit stale.

      I agree, off pavement not off road. Range rover is known for more than mud puddle skipping. At this price they better let the media get down and dirty with it or not bother.

    Here's the deal. Land Rover's are the most capable STOCK vehicles on the road. See the word "STOCK". I've been off-roading in my LR4 several times at events that Land Rover held themselves. A STOCK Jeep, again STOCK, could not do what those vehicles could do off-road with the STOCK engine, tires, suspension and such. Now when you put upgrades onto them such as lift kits, ECU upgrades and big ass tires, then yes they will be as capable, possibly even more than the Rovers. I'm not hating on Jeeps at all, I love Jeeps, but I hate when people say how much better they are than Range Rover's and how only the rich buy them to strut around Beverly Hills, Miami or NYC and never take them off-road. They're for the individual that wants great amounts of luxury and know's that if they ever need to go on a dirt trail or through some sand, they can do it in exceptional comfort.

    Where is that off-road? All what I saw, was normal gravel roads with some puddles. Nothing what regular saloon couldn't handle. Driving on grass (background 2:29 ) could be way batter test.

    • @NathanDAdlen
      @NathanDAdlen 10 років тому +5

      We had to stick to deep mud puddles, rutted dirt roads and fire trails that were very rocky. It was enough to slice tires (including ours). You're welcome to try the ORV trail in Caribou, CO. Film it with your saloon - it will make for great viewing.

    • @MrKeyboardCommando
      @MrKeyboardCommando 10 років тому

      Just make sure there's a Range Rover on standby to tow away the heap of scrap that used to be your regular saloon.

    • @ValtersPelns
      @ValtersPelns 10 років тому

      nathan adlen ok, but that still is a road, grass would be great off road and also very watchable, Top Gear is awesome to show Range Rover capabilitys. For example episode ''Range Rover vs Porsche Cayenne'' They manage to find some mud. :-) Tire slicing road isn't car test, it's tire test.

    Extended wheelbase? I didn't know that they came that way. I have a 2012 Durango. I love big cars. I like when the back doors are at least the same size as if not longer than the front doors like the old Cadillacs, Electra 225s and 98s for legroom. Now all I need is for my six numbers to come in!

    • @xn7331
      @xn7331 10 років тому +1

      David Whittaker no, Land Rover is still among the least reliable auto brands on the market. I'm not against LR, I'm just saying that they have terrible reliability and upkeep costs. The Discovery's, Defenders, etc. are great off road and Range Rover Sports and Evoques (spelling?) Are impressive on road and they're nice vehicles. But the reliability is a turn off.

  • @jondrew1

    Normal people can and do buy Range Rovers too. You don't need to be a Sheik or Queen to buy one. It's actually a very good family car, it was actually designed to be driven by families, not by chauffeurs (although a handful of Range Rover owners do have drivers).

  • @Nicoleise
    @Nicoleise 8 років тому +2

    "Off Road" review - are you being serious? That was a trail with a few puddles, save the ground clearance, any car could drive there.
    Try to show some real off roading, if you wanna do the car justice, as it's so insanely capable. Try and look at Top Gears Range Rover Sport mud and track review or the one where they race an autonomous 5 t army truck off road. This video is by no means an off road review of this car.

    Range Rovers are good when they're brand new, this car maker has so much reliability problems and they haven't been taking care of those problems for years now. they just caring about selling luxury expensive vehicles but don't plan to fix them and find solutions for the reliabilities problem. Expensive car should last for a longer time cuz they have better material and much more expensive engineering but not in the Range Rover case

    Seriously doubt that a Sheikh will take that in dunes :) For that, Sheikhs buy Land Cruisers, nobody there offroads with Range Rover :)... u can see Defenders cruising the dunes, Land Cruisers, G-Classes, but not Range Rovers, not build for offroad, just daily commute and show off :) U can hear the Range Rover almost disintegrating while going over little bumps.... Range Rovers are well know of their "durability, toughness and solidity" -> Range Rover does not have any of these..

    No on really goes off road in a range rover its way to expensive for average people and scratching or do anything to is out of the question, plus most people who can afford a range rover are rich,uppity, or apart of the elite middle class. I guarantee 99% aren't outdoors type people and the 1%that are do pussy shit like going through puddles and hiking trails with something close to a 0% percent grade made for walking. Nothing against people who can pay for this car but lets be real with ourselves range rover needs to stop marketing this car for its outdoorsmen capability, because real people who love being in nature would never buy such an overprices luxury SUV to shield themselves from it while traversing land. Its just a joke they market these cars like this even if they are capable off-roading. XD

    Nathan said they averaged just under 17 Miles per gallon in the beginning then at 1.25 minute mark you can see it clearly says 15.3 lol...

      That was accumulated while driving off road for several hours, My average came from regular, daily driving.
