  • In this tutorial I show you how I made the rain effect for one of the opening shots of Sensations. I used Cinema 4D to create the background street and then in After effects I used the plugin Particular to create the rain itself.

    I have a question regarding your intro Paint Brush transition, was that manually created with Photoshop or was it animated in After Effects?

    • @rbsn3d
      @rbsn3d 4 роки тому +1

      So i am not Olaf i try to answer your question: Search for a brush stroke you like (big enough with long stripes on both ends. Than make a 11 frames (from 0 to 10) long animation (you can do this in Photoshop like Olaf with the timeline animation window). Inside this 11 frames you make a transition from full black (first frame -0-) to full white (last frame -10-) with a couple of those big brush strokes (use some grey variations from Frame 1 to 9). Render this as a sequence and import it to After Effects. Use this sequence as a alpha mask for your videos you like to include.

  • @sheleg4807

    I don't understand why you invested so much time yet in the end made the rain flat and not selling the illusion of a moving camera. Good tutorial none the less, just can be way better.

    When I was in After Effects I suddenly could not find Particles effects in some weird way

  • @bcarr1009
    @bcarr1009 2 роки тому

    So, I'm a complete noob to after effects and I hate to say it but I could not follow you. You skipped a ton of steps that would be obvious to someone experienced, but for someone new like me this did not help me at all unfortunately. It will, once I watch other tutorials on the things you did not explain. Things like how to make a mask. That is super basic, I know. But, I don't know how to do that, or how they work. I am new to this. Anyway your work is great but this video is not for a beginner.
    also dude you failed to mention that trap code particular happens to cost either $600 annually or $1k for a perpetual license. Is this a tutorial or is it a "this is how I made this" video. Nothing wrong with the second one, but that's not a tutorial.

    • @OlofStorm
      @OlofStorm  2 роки тому

      I think a tutorial can be directed to different levels. If you watch some beginner tutorials first this might make more sense. AE cost money, Cinema 4d cost money so does Trapcode particular.

    • @bcarr1009
      @bcarr1009 2 роки тому

      @@OlofStorm yeah, you're not wrong. I admit a fair bit of the salt there was due to my pulling my hair out. I ended up doing just that. I was able to figure out what you weren't saying and go hunt down those answers. I still think there is value in going step by step and that will make something more available to a broader audience. But it's not required to be a tutorial. As for the price..... Yeah still getting used to that. Probably normal for you, totally culture shock for me. But I'll get there. Anyway keep making awesome thing.
