I own a 2444 gas. Its the industrial version, same tractor basically painted yellow. Its a very capable tractor with a bunch of high end features. Its getting to be a pretty rare tractor as they were not sleeved engines so by this point most have been rebuilt beyond serviceability. This diesel version would be the bomb once running. Yours is in some great shape. Spinning a diesel that easily by hand is pretty alarming though. I have a 40 year old straight six ford diesel in my boat that I can barely budge by hand. Good luck with her I hope it works out!

Thanks for sharing Clint. I really enjoyed walking through this discovery with you. As one of your commenters mentioned below, you have a B414 diesel here (IH made a gas variant as well). The model numbers is painted on the white oval on either side of the tractor...yours looks too faded to read though. Looking forward to your next video when you get that puppy started!

I hope to get back to it in the next couple of weeks and try starting it. I've been waiting on colder weather because of the weeds, chiggers and snakes. It's in prime rattlesnake country. The owner warned me of that.

Good day from Ontario.. I think that is a 414. We used to have one. They are hard starter, but do have glow-plugs, they had to be used even in summer. Yes that pto lever. Did you do another video on it? Turning over with 1 finger does not seem good, but with only 1000 hrs on. 1 back tire must have been replaced. Thanks good luck

      Hi Don.
I'm going back after colder weather comes here in Virginia. It's in a prime Rattlesnake area.
I've researched the glow plugs and they run on 9 tenths of a volt. It should have a resistor in inline going to the starter switch, but the owner said he never had a key. It has a add on push button for the starter. That tells me the glow plugs were not being used. So I can hot wire to the glow plugs resistor and see if it will start without starting fluid. Also Champion makes replacement glow plugs that run on 12 volts.
When I get back to it I'll make another vid.
      Thanks for your interest.
      Clint

The glow plugs are activated by the L handle on the right of the dash, the key switch on the B414 only enables the generator charge.

I'm also trying to get an old Intl B414 tractor running right now. Not sure how long it's been sitting. It'll crank but nothing fires so could be lack of fuel. Clogged line or filter possibly. Anyhow, good luck and God bless

    • @ClintsHobbiesDIY

I've been working on this one for the last week and a half. Fuel is all the problems. First a hole in the fuel tank, then the line going to the lift fuel pump and the one from it to the filter were plugged. The fuel filter was worthless, so I installed a new one. Now the problem is the injector pump not pumping to the injectors. After taking the top off the injector pump, I found the fuel cutoff stuck in the cutoff position. (That's a common problem with the CAV pumps.) Then the pump inlet filter to the pump from the fuel filter was plugged. Still won't pump fuel to the injectors. I have ordered a seal kit for the pump. Have the injector pump remanufactured is $700.
If you take the top off the CAV pump, remember the position of where the springs hook.
I'll send you a link about the pump you should watch.
If I can help in in way just ask.
      Many thanks for the sub.
      Clint in Virginia

The fins in the transfer pump were broken and the liner ring they run in had two badly pitted spots where the fins run in the ring. I have both now and will try to get it back together today. The fins are made of something like Bakelite. So, they wouldn't have lasted long in the pitted liner ring.
They are easy to check. Take the 4 bolts out of the end of the pump where the fuel line comes in. and there they are. The liner ring will come out with a magnet. Remember the position of the notch on the ring and put it back the same way.
Let me know if I can help.

I think you are asking what they are worth. I paid $500 for this one with the agreement I could get it started, but it had a good Brush Hog and Front-End Loader. I'm guessing one running without the attachments top dollar would be around $1800.

I'm waiting for fall Aaron. I'll have to cut a path through the stick weeds to get to it. I've researched those engines and they have heaters that run on 9 tenths of a volt and take forever to heat up. Champion makes a replacement that runs on 12 volts. Also the key switch has been by-passed and it has a push button. So I'm thinking the heaters were not being used. I plan to jump wire the heaters for a couple of minutes and see what happens. I don't have or want anything that I have to use starting fluid on.

I have a diesel 414. I think my power to activate the glow plugs comes from the key to the I guess you call it the L switch on the dash. It also provides power to the rotary light switch. I turn the key, hold the L switch for about 20 seconds (maybe), the glow plug indicator (metal piece on the dash with holes) starts to glow to indicate they're working, and then I let go of the L switch and shove the starter leaver (by the transmission hi-lo lever) down to engage the starter. Like someone else said - even in the warmth of summer you need to use the glow plugs but maybe just not as long as winter). Great little tractor. If you have question let me know

    • @ghorner11
      @ghorner11 2 роки тому

I don't see a mechanical starting lever on that tractor but I do see a generator so it's 6 volt positive ground. Mine was converted to an alternator 12 volt negative ground. I had the starter completely rebuilt and an extra ground strap added to it - it really rolls that engine now and always fires right up.
