Man after my own heart. Love your content. A morsel of fighting spirit for you. *Against a shielded opponent: If they're wary, they'll expect headpokes and lunges over the shield. Time a duck with a lunge and strike their exposed lead leg under their shield.*
Tips for longsword player, The centipede can use mummy's shoulder parry technique, even if it sprays poison, it can parry and kill the centipede quickly, but it is little bit risky, so it is best to do it next to a life altar.
Love your videos! Your tutorials with longsword really helped me to get good at it. Quick suggestion - A lot of Barbs are now using Horseman Axe due to it's fast swing. Could you do a tutorial vid on how to parry these please?
Oggie-oggerton the man with the impeccable jawline, credit score, sports car, 3 time world champion, AND he even adopted me and my puppies when I lost the ability to walk ❤❤❤❤❤ You are a gem Ogi :>
I had a hard time finding a consistent point to block the centipedes attacks from the front. The circle strafe seems to be more efficient for me still.
Crouching and aiming up and to the left is very consistent. Just keep some distance. The same angle even works for the spit most of the time.@@oggieson
For goblin mages, you can consistently dodge by getting up "close" to "mid-close" range and ducking+looking down RIGHT. You want to be across the spell coming from his right hand. They are homing but they don't have the turn radius to get you when you're that close if you get your head out of the way. The spiral downward towards the floor. Careful with this if you are not on even height. The mage being higher than you can still work, but if it's lower you're just bringing your head down into range.
A little more info on the centipede, there's a second opportunity to parry his attack when he pulls back from his thrust. Take a step to the left, and if you miss the block on the bite adjust to put the tip of the blade where it drags back through. Oggie, do you think the fact that you can block the poison spit but can't parry is a bug?
The time to do riposte is based on the impact power of the deflected attack. If you parry a dagger, you have to riposte as soon as you hear it or you lose it as opposed to other weapons where you can wait up to a second before riposte. Centipede spit has low impact like a dagger.
for the goblin mage my way to get ride of them is to wait for them to throw like 3 or 4 ball at a wall then they will always try to do the buff attack where he is a free kill
This might be something I missed in another video but when you run longsword what are the skills you are taking? I see sprint and second wind which are standard but the 4 (if level 15 or higher) was curious what you take there. Haven't played much so if it's obvious I apologize 😅
Hi, I'm sack. I'm addicted to the fighter. After taking the master class not only do I die less, I kill more. You too for the low price of 10 gold can achieve greatness by taking the class and practicing. Not only will you do better, you'll leave your opponents in shock and be able to transfer their wealth, to your pockets. Act now, don't wait.
Could you do this same thing with players? If you could freeze frame and find that lock on spot to hold the blade to block ranges attacks that would be amazing.
Hmm... it's been difficult with the player weapons lately cuz of dysnc so it's hard to properly show it. I do have a felling axe and falchion videos where I show both perspectives that might be helpful at least for those two weapons?
It's felt like the completely opposite for most longsword users I've spoken to since EA dropped. I literally put 350 hours in during the playtests on just longsword and when EA dropped it felt like I'd never used the weapon to parry before. I've wondered if they've actually tighten up the hitbox/collision box or if it might simply be tied to the fact servers aren't as good as they were during the playtests since they can't use AWS right now and have their own servers maybe?
What's your thoughts on warlock longsword? Less defense but insane offense with the active skill, you do like 120 damages with medium gear to the head. Tho, more punishing if you miss a parry. Always wondered if the fighter perks for parrying are any good but I see you run all 3 of them.
Lotta positional power using blow of corruption and spells. Gotta level it up personally and play it a bunch to give a real opinion. Atm I think falchion+ball is better than longsword but that's for the average gamer.
Lol! There are some videos of people doing it out there. I don't value the cave troll much since I often get mugged by rogues on the way out whenever I do attempt and kill it. Longsword not great vs rogues. But I will take some time and make a video of it and share so more of y'all can see it in the future!
I will put some effort into getting a short tips video out for this sometime this week if things line up well! If not this week it might take me some time since there's so much on the plate right now lol
Yeah this is a take from someone that hasn't touched the weapon. No offense. There is a massive amount of counter play to longsword in this game currently
@@oggieson I have used longsword. It's very easy to parry the majority of melee weapons. Only the club and warharmmer are really a challenge because they start their swing pattern from the right side of the body. Any barbarian axe is a joke to parry because of how easy it is. Barbarian with crush should be a mechanical counter to the longsword's parry, but it is not. Sure, you can crouch and swing at their knees, but you would be an idiot to call that "counterplay" because you will just lose the trade if they have have a brain cell and combo you in the head while you are toe fishing

I find the centipede to be one of the easiest mobs in the game. you can perry his attack easily just by standing close and directly in front it.
I had a hard time finding a consistent point to block the centipedes attacks from the front. The circle strafe seems to be more efficient for me still.
@@oggieson do you think tight corridors have an effect on attack patterns?

4:35 the goblins scared of this man betting his like on a longsword parry.
Question! :) What perks do you prefer running with when using the longsword specifically?
Always running shield mastery, barricade, and counter attack. Then usually swift or weapon mastery
This might be something I missed in another video but when you run longsword what are the skills you are taking? I see sprint and second wind which are standard but the 4 (if level 15 or higher) was curious what you take there. Haven't played much so if it's obvious I apologize 😅
Skills are almost always Sprint and Second Wind after the taunt nerf. Perks are Shield Mastery, Barricade, Counter Attack, and Swift usually.

Legend
It's day 5, I accidentally killed my barb friend when I tried to parry a skeleton. I was a cleric using a war maul. The journey continues.
This is the way.
In one of your streams you mentioned, that there is a bug with longsword riposte. But, what is this bug? The damage increased not in 150% or what?
Damage is actually increased higher than that. So the bug is in longsword player's favor. 187.5% damage on riposte.
Do you think they are planning to change the longsword parry system soon?
Why would they? It's super difficult to learn and you can just get fireballed to the feet
Did they buff longswords? feels like the hitbox for the parry is greatly increased
It's felt like the completely opposite for most longsword users I've spoken to since EA dropped. For the centipede i like to just stand infront of it still on riposte, works fine but it does that stupid rng spit
tips man, when the centipede spit, just face it and go ahead getting close side by side, then it'll miss

Crazy that there is really no counterplay against parry for melee champions. Parry really shouldn't exist unless feints do also.
