Thanks for sharing this with us so I could verify that the diegetic piano being played in the Rickshaw Chinese cocktail bar was actually the theme song to the movie! 😁
Oh Lord ❤how I love this heartwrenching melody by Adolph Deutsch 💔 you indeed performed it right perfectly well. Like this I could not tell if it was the studio version from the ost.
Hi Tom, and many thanks for sharing this wonderful song from an earlier era when music was beautiful. Very soon I will begin learning it on my Yamaha digital piano. Thanks again for posting such beautiful music . . . it has class! By the way, Charles Williams also composed "The Dream Of Olwen" which was used in a 1947 British movie, "While I Live".
Excellent. I am in awe of the chord changes of the composer. This music was perfect for the movie - even though it was written for another movie! I remember hearing this piece as a kid. I thought Ferrate and Teischer were amazing. Your version is wonderful with its variations.
This is a full-fledged Romantic piece. It's ALL IN. Your interpretation is sensitive and moving. And feels natural. I am at once moved by and comfortable with it. You didn't overdo it. As perhaps Ferrante and Teicher do. Tho I love their version too.🎹
Thanx! For whatever reason, this appears to be my #1 video in terms of views, and if I had known it was going to become that popular, I would've practiced a bit more and fixed a coupla "clunkers", hehe ....
I have this sheet music, just followed along: 32 bars (after the intro) in Fmaj followed by an interlude in Abmaj (roughly 24 bars) then back to the theme in Fmaj. Originally published as "Jealous Lover"...,it's quite a tour de force. Thanks
Thanx! I dropped a coupla notes here and there, and if I had a million years I'd love to go through and keep re-recording all of these piano songs until I get them all "just right", but it is what it is... Good luck with the sheet music! I only made minimal changes (I put a "walking down" note before each of the two dramatic major ninth chords about two-thirds of the way through)
Thanks! There are a couple glitches, that I wish I could go in and correct, but I would have to re-upload, and lose all of the comments on this version...
I am working on this piece and I use his performance as a model - beautiful!
Nicely done. The Apartnent really is a drama, as the music suggests.
My dad learned this completely by ear. He had super musical talent. Ebb tide was another favorite he played by ear. Great memory thanks. ❤
So well done!
Superb! One of my favorite movies and soundtracks. I can picture Shirley MacLaine walking into the Chinese restaurant.
🎶👍👏 ,very nice song .
Remind me of every scenes of the picture, and thanks a lot...

My aunty used to play this for me. My very favorite sheet musical song. Thank-you for posting and bringing back wonderful memories.
I am in envy of you Tom. I wish I learnt how to play the piano.

I just noticed the one. This is just as good as Dream of Olwen. I love the old scores.
