- This video #tutorial shows how to apply a #shibori #tiedye technique of folding and binding to create geometrical patterns for dyeing fabric.
This is the tie-dye technique that I used for my DIY Gathered Tiered Dress that I self-drafted in the previous episode here:

Thanks for watching and thanks for the support!
I loved this video! Your energy is the best, Geri! I've been considering different tye-die techniques, but there's something so wonderful about the combination of the controlled lines and uncontrollable blooming that you get with this technique. I think this is going to be what I'll try for my first foray into tye-die. Thank you so much for taking the time to put this excellent tutorial together! ❤️
I am so excited that you're going to give this a go. Please share pics with me when you do. And happy dyeing! Thanks so so much for your supportive words!

This tutorial was amazing! I have never seen the microwave technique on shibori and may consider trying it out. Can any old plastic bag go in the microwave or should there be ones to avoid?
Also.... the shibori god dance is everything! 😁 xxx
Hi Lucy! Thanks so much for your comment! I can't say that I invented the microwave technique, but I discovered it in the Rit Dye tutorials section and I use it all the time now. Especially when used in combination with the squeeze bottle application, it really saves the amount of dye and water used when dyeing. As for the plastic bag, I try to find something that is sturdier, and stay off the flimsy ones. Sorry I can't be more specific. But that's how I choose my plastic bags.
