    Just started ice dying after a few years of regular squirt bottle dye. This is crazy. I love it.

    So...I’ve been watching all the “shaving cream fabric dye marbling” videos I can find and you are the only person who makes it an ART instead of a CRAFT. Thank you for raising the level of this because you have shown us something beautiful and elegant. I can’t wait to try it!

    I’m in need of a small area rug for my bedroom. So, instead of purchasing one, I’m thinking of up-cycling my white bath towels that I don’t use anymore and turning them into rugs. I’m so glad to come across your video! The shirt that you dyed turned out great so I’m going to try this technique on my towels. I’m so excited!! @@OnyxArtStudios Ac..tu...a...ly, you are replying to a novice in this art but! I did a marble dress with a similar fabric used in the video, the RiT all-purpose die in apple green, cloud design, and it truly came out spectacular. The process was dyeing with a clean and moist fabric in a plastic cat tray I found, crunching it up into big clouds, adding about 1/4 of dye into a 16oz plastic bottle adding water (less if a lighter shade is wanted) then squirting the dye on both sides of the fabric (the best way possible) cover with plastic, wait an hour of setting, rinse, and dry. What your time and efforts did, for me, was to summon the creativity within and get it done as I was somewhat fearful of it. I do appreciate all you do. Spectacular day to you and your loved ones. :D

      @OnyxArtStudios  3 роки тому +4

      I let the dye sit on the shirt overnight to get into the fabric. Then I rinsed with cold and then washed on hot and dried on hot. You can mix your own powder dyes just like you would for tie dye. The kit I have on my site is just add water.

      thanks for watching! I'm not sure, I've only tried foam shaving cream. Let me know if you try anything else. Would love to know. What's your favorite kind of dyeing?

    Why shaving cream with aloe? Can this be done on silk?

      procion dyes are good for plant based fibers, so I would not do silk with this kind of dye.

    What is the soda ash mixture

      The soda ash makes the procion dyes (tie dye) stick to the fabric and stay after washing. The mixture I'm using is about 2/3 cup soda ash to 1 gallon of water

    Very cool technique! I'll try to put cardboard inside the shirt to help laying flat 🤔
