5 Shibori Folding Techniques

- Shibori is a japenese form of folding off fabrics to get different designs. I absolutely love experimenting with new types of folds to get new designs!
The two types of dye featured here are cochineal and logwood extract with an iron bath. Two of my very favorite forms of natural dye!

How to retain the colour, the blue dye keeps coming off on every wash and making the white area of the fabric dull after every wash. HELP!

Hey Estela! I use all sorts of natural dyes. In this video I used cochineal (which is the pink) and logwood (which is the purple) be sure to subscribe because I share how I get all these colors weekly!

Yes I was just showing how to fold the patterns! Follow along my blog and UA-cam if you interested in specific colors I've got lots of tutorials for how those are achieved! Shibori is the art of folding, sometimes people get it mixed up with 'indigo' which is the color because people say 'shibori indigo' dyeing often.

I'm sorry but I had to do something I rarely do and give this tutorial a thumb down. Much of the process was off camera (come on - you are doing a how-to tutorial. Your main job is to make it so we can see what is happening so we can learn!), and it all just moved too fast. Yes, you can go into settings and slow things down, but why should we have to? If you are going to make a tutorial, either make it helpful and correctly or leave it to those who will.
SuzetteG316 I apologize you were disappointed the good news for you is there are other tutorials that may be better suited for your learning style! A lot of people have found it helpful so I feel like I did a decent job but I agree there is always room for improvement.
I find it strange how people can be critical of free content especially when they don’t offer any to the world themselves.
I’m going to do curtain panels with this technique and Im super excited about it! I love seeing what wrapping technique gives what effect . 🎈

Hi there! I get mine from natures fabrics but really any fabric store will have cotton fabric for you. This specific fabric is cotton bamboo gauze.
