JUST WANT TO MAKE A NOTE: THIS "Ulanzi Anamorphic Lens" FITS ONLY TO DJI OSMO POCKET 1 !!! It produced black circle around the image on Pocket 2. Be awared !!!
I would agree. Unfortunately the Osmo Pocket is not super strong in low light conditions. But once lockdown is lifted I can make more videos with this lens
“Comes a little pricey” Haha if you try to go anamorphic with any other setup other than a osmo, then it’s gonna be way more expensive bro! This looks so good for $40!
Hi Jason - I purchased a Ulanzi Anamorphic OP-11 from Amazon on 4/1 and received it around 4/15. Viewing your video, after purchasing the OP-11, I was very interested to see if my OP-11 had a 1.33 or 1.17 aspect ration (as you indicated in your video). I am using DaVinci Resolve 16 as my editing software, so adjust the aspect ratio is a bit different than in Adobe Premier. I recorded a video and took a still photo of a perfectly circular plate as my subject material. I came up with a recorded aspect ration of somewhat less than 1.33x. Davinci Resolve "clip attributes" has a number of default values - one of these is 1.33x Anamorphic. Using that default, the plate circle was a bit out of the same horizonal /vertical measurement. DaVinci allows one to tweak horizontal or vertical aspects of an image. Using the horizontal tweak, where the program's default value of 1.000 would be what the 1.33x, I tried other values 0.97, 0.98, or 0.99. Of the three values the 0.99 which results in an aspect ration of 1.316x or 0.98 which results in an aspect ration of 1.303x seemed to be a closer "visual" match to the plate's circular form. Certainly my OP-11 didn't need the amount of correction which you found in your copy of the lens. I see that there is an comment from Ulanzi William (below) that a update of the OPP-11 will be coming soon. I must assume that I have a copy of the updated OPP-11. Slight variances from the quoted aspect ratio value is not unexpected. I have used SLR Magic, MoonDog and Moment accessory anamorphics - all of which were quoted as having an aspect ratio of 1.33x. All required some minor aspect ratio adjustment in post to achieve the correct proportionality in the recorded image.
Yes, you would most likely have the updated version I would assume. The conversion should technically be the same regardless of the software we are using. Never the less I am still happy with the results it produces
I recently recieved my ulanzi anamorphic filter for my osmo pocket however the filterseems too heavy for the osmo pocket, the device is shaking and the camera shuts down Does this sound farmiliar?
This is so interesting. It was just yesterday when I was talking about why osmo pocket won’t come up with anamorphic lense. Then surprisingly, this video shows up today. Thank you so much for the beautiful review
blurry backgrounds or bokeh is all dependant on focal length, aperture and distance from subject. I was focussed on a subject very close which allowed for a shallower depth of field. the further you are away from a subject, the less blur you will have. Try get close and experiment with that. Just remember minimum focus distance of the osmo pocket though. hope that helps :)
Hi Jason, nice episode. Can you please tell me how you have made this video playing full screen on youtube on a full screen bezzelless display of mobile? Waiting for your reply. Thank you in advance.
What is the Difference Between 1.15X Ulanzi OP-11 Anamorphic Lens & 1.33X Ulanzi OP-11 Anamorphic Lens 4k For DJI Osmo Pocket Pocket Camera. Which lens can get better Quality
Hi Jason, awesome videos, I am planning doing a light video setup in the future. Have you tried doing videos combing the osmo pocket with your mavic air, edited on iPad pro?
That is a very good question. The answer is yes. You will just need to match the aspect ratio is all. It will potentially look different due to anamorphic compression and unique look but most won't be able to tell
Jason Morris thanks! Where can I compare the lens measurements? I’m deciding between the osmo pocket and Snoppa Vmate and this will directly impact it. Love this lens.
nice video - i ordered one at ulanzi and also they have a improved version of there wide angel . cant wait to get my hands on them. Thank you for great content again.
Can't say I'm a fan. If I want lens flare in my video I want to be the one that's put it there. This is far too random for my liking. I'd rather add them in post.
the blue lens flares is just a creative choice as mentioned in the video. With wider videos it just allows you to capture more in frame and allow you to use your full sensor without having to unnaturally crop in post
Hi, I have three Osmo Pockets, and 3 of these anamorphic lenses. They are an absolute Con and am sending all mine back. its NOT 1.33 Ulanzi cocked up !!! its now marketed as OP-11 and blurb modified after damning reviews stating its NOT 1.33 but more like 1.15. the lens cannot be used in cinematic panoramic shots as everything is blurred and out of focus. If you have a person 3-4 feet away they are in focus but background or infinity is no longer in focus. So unless there is an obvious trick I have missed like touch to focus and believe me I tried that, or a special menu setting to tell the camera the lens is fitted? maybe in the app itself ? as I never use these apps, the three pricey lenses are a disaster. I also have the Wide Angle lens and as expected its peripheral outer shots are ruined by blurred imagery and chromatic aberration. I wish these reviewers would stop hyping up these products as when they suck , it needs to be told as it really is. Am all ears, if I have missed something in their use , as no instructions are supplied, and its not rocket science to fit after startup and not at boot up. Totally disappointed
$90.00 Canadian, for something that will fall off or get broken! Not for me.. What we need is a good wide angle lens with a filter already in it! Asked Freewell if this is something that they taught of doing (Crossing a Wide Angle with an ND Filter) but they would pass it on as sounds like a good idea. That way you don't have to stack the wide Angle lens.. Hope they create some wide angle with ND filter... Got burned once by ULANZI and never again!
This is possible. Lenses are always the best way to get these flares. But I agree its not that great compared to actual anamorphic lenses. Thanks for stopping by Stuart
JUST WANT TO MAKE A NOTE:
THIS "Ulanzi Anamorphic Lens" FITS ONLY TO DJI OSMO POCKET 1 !!!
It produced black circle around the image on Pocket 2. Be awared !!!
IMO, blue lens flares only look good in dark scenes. I don’t like during day scenes.
I would agree. Unfortunately the Osmo Pocket is not super strong in low light conditions. But once lockdown is lifted I can make more videos with this lens
sensory overloady
Will it fit on a Pocket 2?
Amazing. When Ulanzi gets things right they really deliver.
definitely a decent lens by them
“Comes a little pricey”
Haha if you try to go anamorphic with any other setup other than a osmo, then it’s gonna be way more expensive bro!
This looks so good for $40!
Do you have any problem with the balance? I mean the weight of the lens does not affect the stabilizer of the osmo pocket?

Jason Morris Anytime, Brother
Nice video 👌 how did you get the blurry background with the osmo pocket at 0:29 ?

Hi Jason, nice episode. Can you please tell me how you have made this video playing full screen on youtube on a full screen bezzelless display of mobile? Waiting for your reply. Thank you in advance.
I have created the video in an aspect ratio of 2:1. My export is 3840 x 1920 which is that ratio. Perfect for Smart phones
Thanks a lot man👍😊
Freewell promises to make ND filters for their Wide-Angle Lens. If they ever make an anamorphic lens then I would expect the same
What is the Difference Between 1.15X Ulanzi OP-11 Anamorphic Lens & 1.33X Ulanzi OP-11 Anamorphic Lens 4k For DJI Osmo Pocket Pocket Camera. Which lens can get better Quality
They are the same currently. The 1.33x lens was tested and it happened to be less than the 1.33x compression so they renamed it
Hi Jason, awesome videos, I am planning doing a light video setup in the future. Have you tried doing videos combing the osmo pocket with your mavic air, edited on iPad pro?
I haven't tried. I don't use an iPad pro
@@JasonMorrisphotocinema ooh but do you think it's a good idea with that kind of setup?
Could you do a review on the new Ulanzi 2020 wide angle lens? Thank you in advance
Thanks Jason. What is the glass quality like on it? I don't ever expect amazing glass quality from Ulanzi, but does it seem pretty clear and durable?
it does seem pretty clear compared to their wide angle lens. They are releasing a different version very soon that has proper 1.33x anamorphic ratio
Thanks, great review. If I understood you correctly, the Ulanzi lens claimed it is 1.33 but is actually more like 1.17 (1.15)?
is this 1.33 or 1.15 factor ? is there any 1.33 anamorphic for osmo pocket ? thank you
Hello from Israel
is it possible to combine anamorphic shot with a non anamorphic shot in one sequence ?
thanks
That is a very good question. The answer is yes. You will just need to match the aspect ratio is all. It will potentially look different due to anamorphic compression and unique look but most won't be able to tell
On amazon it says 1.15 lens
yeah I have the 1.33x version. I put in the description that maybe they realised it was an incorrect aspect ratio
Great peaceful intro sequence.
haha thanks my bro. Wanted to keep it simple
Does this lens work with the Snoppa Vmate? Or other Osmo pocket options?
I am not sure. I haven't used the Snoppa Vmate
Jason Morris thanks! Where can I compare the lens measurements? I’m deciding between the osmo pocket and Snoppa Vmate and this will directly impact it. Love this lens.
Nice vid, thnx👍
What do u think about fimi palm?
haha. Fimi palm video is coming :) don't want to give too much away as yet
been waiting for a new osmo pocket video from you. thanks for the review for this accessory 👌
The will always be there sooner or later haha
Thanks for the tip on the compression ratio, I was trying to decompress my video and was having the same issue. 👍
oh awesome! No problems at all Rahul
Hi Jason have you heard any rumors of a new osmo pocket soon. I’m thinking of buying the pocket
nothing as yet. Hopefully the Fimi Palm will push DJI to create something better
nice video - i ordered one at ulanzi and also they have a improved version of there wide angel . cant wait to get my hands on them. Thank you for great content again.
awesome peter. Yeah, I've seen the improved version. Haven't tested it myself but looks much better than the original
Great video and page. I'm glad I fell down this rabbit hole today!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
oh wow about time! They sure have been keeping users waiting for a LONG time.
Interesting, the lens flare is just a bit strong, but it's still nice. Cheers.
it definitely can be too strong. It should only be used creatively i think
Jason, great review.... thanks for sharing
thank you for watching Alfredo
My pleasure...
Maybe freewell will come out with one ..
lets hope so
Super video, merci .mais, le produit est impossible à trouver en ce moment :(

Awesome video!! Cant wait for the osmo pocket 2. If it comes..
Same. I hope the Fimi palm pushes DJI to create something different
OMG Jason has gone Marvel on us, nice touch wait for the credits at the end for upcoming block buster....Lol nice video thanks
Not sure I want to have ten or so assistants following me around pointing flashlights at me all the time though
Only you can show it and you can do it well. Good
thank you my friend
Nice lens, definitely on my radar
Looking good!
thanks mate!
Cool as always

It definitely is a desired look. Should really only be used in certain situations.
Very nice Video, thanks a lot. Greetings from Hannover, Germany
Nice review as always, I think its there or there's about, but not quiet right re aspect ratio some kind of hybrid!
Very close. Pretty damn good effort by Ulanzi
Yess ok 👍
Hi guys, can someone see some glitches or noice in the picture 🤔? Or it's something with my eyes 😜. Thanks for reply. And thanks author for footage.
What?! WOW! 😍
i know right! amazing
I still not see any benefits of this lens. Blue lensflares? Wider videos?
the blue lens flares is just a creative choice as mentioned in the video. With wider videos it just allows you to capture more in frame and allow you to use your full sensor without having to unnaturally crop in post
Nice review! I’m quite sure I need this Lens :-)
it is pretty awesome i must admit. I do like the blue flare but also the slightly wider aspect ratio

The idiots even printed 1.33 on the lens body, a legal minefield that would guarantee refunds etc
Lens flare has curve very bad. But I’m not complaining but is for the people who can’t afford a big Anamorphic’s lens
The blue looks like a fail
Looks like the lens is loosing a bit resolution.
Nice, its a bit pricey but if you like filming, why not?
In the right hands, I’m sure it’s an impressive lens
thanks James. Its actually pretty decent
Flair is too weird
1.15 squeeze ratio not good 1.5 will be nice.

Not that impressed distorted. And Ghosting badly.
Surely there are software filters which would do as well.

*Hey Jason ! Cool lens eh ? Please stop shooting constantly into the Sun mate !*
Blue flare looks like a mistake to me. Obviously trendy.
yeah, its a desired look. Very popular amongst scifi or action films
Um totally cool thanks
What a great tool to ruin your shots -- nothing you can't do in post.
So is it not 1.33, rather 1.17?they lied?
