    A banana bread with black walnuts with a scoop of good vanilla ice cream drizzled with your home made nocino would be a perfect winter treat.

    You have inspired me to make wild blueberry jam, wild blackberry jam, and now I am just waiting for my rose hips to get ripe to make rose hip jam.

    What you have is a tincture, with a sweetener in it.
    Walnut hall tincture is used for internal parasites, also as external treatment as in athlete feet and prevention of infection in minor cuts.

    I want to make black walnut syrup and mix that with the nocino. And a hull tincture too.

    I just woke up to this video. I was happy to see that today is the day for step two ! I started making my own Nocino with my own black walnuts back in July when you started yours. I never heard of this drink until I found your channel. I’m excited for step two. I’ll start it right after breakfast this morning, thank you 😊

    But seriously though, what does it taste like? In part one you said it smelled kind of lemony, in this part you said it smelled kind of nutty, so I honestly have no idea what to expect. Is it bitter, sweet, acidic, tangy, herbaceous, earthy, smoky, sharp, smooth, dark, bright? Does it taste like walnuts? Are there any other liquors it's comparable to?

    Do you do anything with the walnut pieces you strained out? I just wonder because, well, for instance I make a ginger and pineapple fermented soda and when I remove the fruit I can use it in stir-fry. It is really tasty.

      You can reuse them in more vodka to make a black walnut tincture.

    Jen,
    In an earlier episode you mentioned that you cannot cut down trees on your acreage because they are owned by the "Crown". As I follow several Canadian UA-camrs, they are cutting trees off of their land as they state private owners can cut trees on their property. Does each Providence have different rules? Would like to understand the differences. Great channel.

    I'm confused, why aren't the tannins dangerous? My skin gets an allergic reaction when I get black walnut stain on it. This looks fun, but it makes me nervous. Does the alcohol break the tannin down over time?

    • @TheWildYam
      @TheWildYam  2 роки тому

      There are tannins in nocino. If you know you are allergic, best to avoid nocino.
