Thanks for the idea! I found one of these poles at Home Depot (you gotta go the store - the web site said they didn't have them but they had a bunch once I got there). I didn't add the eye bolt. I also used a 3/4 T. I found that it actually threads on to the top of the pole I got. I also put some E6000 glue in the threads as I was threading it just to be sure. This is a GREAT money saving idea. I've found this stakeout pole very useful too. Just put it in your anchor trolley ring most of the time. I've also used it to push off from the shore too.
Did it!! I can't remember if you mentioned it, but the stake has a metal core so when you drill just be ready for that. Thank you so much for this idea!! I can't wait to use mine!!
Nice idea. I had 2 6 foot dollar store ones in the house so I have connected them with 2 cable grips so it is expandable to 12 feet! Thanks for the inspiration!
I bought one like this before watching your video and thought I’d share some advice. I got one of these from Home Depot and it worked great, but don’t try to stop fast or use it in fast current. I used it with a PA12 and this pole will definitely bend, and once it bends, it’s over. My 8 foot turned into a 6 foot real quick...haha. I bought another one and tweaked it. I bought 3/4 pvc to put over it. It’s a little thick but won’t bend/break. Still WAAYYYY under budget...good video! Tight lines!!
Thanks Bruh! I just made me 2 of these for my new Native Titan 13.5 today!! I knew there had to be an easier way than spending an arm and leg for the Micro poles.
I used the same thing to make one. Found mine at tracktor supply for even a couple bucks less than Lowe's. I put a stick of pvc inside to stiffen it. Added some resin for good measure and to reinforce the tip. If you flex this one it will keep a little bend.
This is perfect man. I just looked up drake out poles on amazing and when I seen the price I was like hell naw, I ain’t paying 90 bucks for a stick. This is all a true fisherman needs. Awesome video. Subbed up
I think theyre actually Polythyrene coating a thin steel bar. None the less good video man. Just went to home depot and got one and the Tee after watching this.
Gots to make it about the black. If a white man said that about a white youtuber you would be the first one to call him racist. Way to keep the separation going.
Hey king, why can’t it just be a kayak UA-cam angler building a push and park pole that will save you money. I watched it to save $ after I returned my YakAttack that was $107 and came with the top broken off.
Great video! Subbed. I have a 15 ft aluminum that is turned into a bass boat. I need 2 for slightly deeper water. what's the best way to connect them? Thanks William
They also have an eight foot galvanized rod. The added weight makes it easy to secure it to the bottom and the end is pointed. They are found in the electrical department. The one I have bends a little but easy to bend back
Greg Menniges when you say that you sanded it down do you mean the pole or the T? Awesome video and info George really appreciate this definitely on a budget
This is a plastic coated hollow tin pole. How has it help up? I think its a great low cost idea my concern is bending and getting kinked? We need a decent resource for finish fiberglass rods. I do agree commercial stake out poles are little pricey.
How's it working out? Just added everything to my cart online and plan on buying it tomorrow. Thank you sooo much for sharing all the parts and stuff. Subscribed to show my gratitude!
Hey Reid, I put the pipe insulation on the pole because I'm not sure it floats if you lose it. I use the same material on my rods too. Thanks for the comment.
Hey WAEofFishing, It's held fine. I don't stake out in really fast moving water and make sure you rinse off the mud. Other than that is works great. See ya..
Damn man! First I heard of a problem and this video has been up for two years almost. I used on my Pro Angler 14 for year and half with no problems.... See ya
Well to be fair wind was pretty strong but I was disappointed nonetheless. Broke too easy. I bought one at lowes, panacea green tree stake and it's made of metal, cheap metal. So I'm now looking for one made of fiberglass.
I mainly use my boat on the flats (shallow water) about 2 feet of water with lil current, I'm gonna try it. Should hold up, thanks for the idea! Tight lines!
Hey Nathan, I have a Hobie PA14 and it has a rail rack. Most use a bungee system on the side of the kayak for storage. Thanks for the comment. See ya PEACE!
@@GeorgeDEFINED i'm with ya george, for the cost, even if it would, make another one compared to the factory ones. thanks for making and sharing. gonna try it
No offense to anyone, but I did this and when I spiked it into the pebble bottom at one foot , it broke in half . I am going to post a pick on my page . What happened I don’t know?

Hey Shayne, Great idea! I haven't had any issues yet but I will keep this in mind. Thanks See Ya ✌🏾
Seems like if you have a PA12 you would get the $90 stake out pole.
Andrew Smith yes, I upgraded immediately afterwards.
Thanks Bruh! I just made me 2 of these for my new Native Titan 13.5 today!! I knew there had to be an easier way than spending an arm and leg for the Micro poles.
Hey Big Rex J, Thanks for the comment. I'm all about saving my dollars. Fishing is expensive enough.. See ya ✌🏾
Thanks for the video George. You can also use the leftover foam insulation on your net frame to keep it afloat if you drop it in the water.
Thank you for the outstanding DIY stakeout pole build video. It’s simple but brilliant! Well done.
Brilliant idea George! Your DIY stake out build is the best I’ve found on UA-cam. I’m heading to Home Depot tomorrow.

Yeah man they try to kill kayakers with the pricing.. I sold my Hobie and got a Lund Rebel used.. loved my PA14 and I might go back this summer
I’m a high school drop out and 9 still sounds a lot better than 90. No matter which ear you hear it from lol. Thanks for sharing this great idea.
And if you want to use it for a push pole you can extend the pvc out the sides of the tee so it won't get stuck so easily in soft bottom.
I think theyre actually Polythyrene coating a thin steel bar. None the less good video man. Just went to home depot and got one and the Tee after watching this.
I'm glad you got something cheaper than yakattack! Thanks for watching!
A black kayak youtube angler.. i had to subscribe for that alone.. but you also just saved me about 60 bucks. thanks
Yeah there aren't that many of us! Thanks for the sub! See ya

I just paid $107 on Amazon for my YakAttack, it came with the push part broken off so I returned it. Just built my own, thanks.
Great video.im 47 and first time kayaker and I love it,get out there get that bass. Definitely going to make this for my kayak.tight lines my friend 🎣
Hey Christian, Thanks for the comment. I have had my Hobie almost a year and I still have a lot to learn. Tight Lines..
Awesome idea, I just made two myself. I did extend the hand grip a little by adding 1/2 coupler and a 3/4 cap to the t.
Good Stuff Man! Tight Lines
Thank you very much, just getting into kayak fishing. My dad never taught me so thank you!
thanks George , great idea , i am hoping i can find a small handle bar hand grip , maybe from a kids bike may be the right diameter .
Hey Avatar, I think that could work out well. I know Walmart has replacement handles. Good idea. See ya
This is the first of your videos I've watched and now I'm a subscriber. Going to make one of these. Awesome functional build and easy.
Hey David, Thanks for watching and subscribing. Just sold my Hobie PA 14 kind sad. :-( But I got a Lund Rebel 1650 so not that sad. See ya
Excellent job! Just the idea I was looking for...

Nice! Save that money!
Awesome. I just made one very similar. Thanks for sharing.
Built two of them today thank you very much great video. I used a half inch T and just sanded down the end so that it fit tight
Hey Greg, They work great and for the price I can see why you made two of them. See ya PEACE
Greg Menniges when you say that you sanded it down do you mean the pole or the T? Awesome video and info George really appreciate this definitely on a budget
I sanded down the pole on the end I was puting the T
Best one yet. 👍🏻 Off to Lowe's tomorrow. Thanks!
Thanks, good tip! Rob from Florida, subscribed!
Great idea. Cannot believe the price of the actual poles.
That's the slickest one I've seen yet!
I like it ... thanks for the vid man... subscribed...
Great video! Thanks! What is the weight?
Hell yeah jist the video I was looking for.. thanks
I like this one. I'll use the eyelet for a stringer

I sold my kayak and the homemade steakout pole.. it was great for me.. I never fish in winds over 15 mph tho...
💯💯💯
You are the man... Great idea!
Brilliant. Thanks great video...
They're not made of fiberglass. They are a hollow metal tubing with a plastic coating. They will bend and rust. I use them to stake tomatoes.
even if it rusts...he can make at least 6 for the price of a parknpole... great idea
How's it working out? Just added everything to my cart online and plan on buying it tomorrow. Thank you sooo much for sharing all the parts and stuff. Subscribed to show my gratitude!
Thanks for the comment.. It works great. The ridges grab some mud but just give it a rinse before bringing it back in the boat.
Just found this year later and now going to Lowe's after work
Nice.. let me know how you like it. Be safe ✌🏾
@@GeorgeDEFINED hey thanks I did build it but it's been monsoon here in SC so hopefully tomorrow can try it out
Great video! I'm going to make one of these this week. I'm just curious, what is the purpose of the pipe insulation cover? Thanks again!

Thanks I’m on my way to pick up the pole😅
oh wow great video , Thanks a lot !!!
Right on man! Thanks!
Great video 👍
I wonder who made this version first..seen many of the exact version.
Open the eye on the end slightly and make a hook remover.
Yo George! How has this held up? I've tried these same poles and bent the smaller ones
Hey WAEofFishing, It's held fine. I don't stake out in really fast moving water and make sure you rinse off the mud. Other than that is works great. See ya..
You’re the bomb brother, I’m in
Awesome. Well done!
Thanks man!
Thanks for the tip
LMAO! This isnt a backpack review but still great
Great idea , set the hook brother
Hey David, Thanks for the comment! See ya
Nothing wrong with a public school education!!!! 😁
This is genius!
Awesome! Thanks!
Hey Crispin Wright, Thanks for the compliment. See ya ✌🏾
Mine broke first day of use. Bent to death, was a little windy at 14 to 17 mph but still didn't hold up.

Wonder if it will hold a 17' skiff?
Hey Martin, Maybe in light current. I wouldn't trust it man. Good for a kayak boats are a different story. It's $8 try it out! Let me know! See ya ✌🏾

@@martingomezjr7943 How did it hold up?
@@idcusn I went to home depot and checked that pole out, I dont think it'll hold a boat. Looks like it will snap in half.
Where are you? State?
Hey WAofFishing, I live in Southern MD. Mostly I fishing the Potomac other close by rivers. See ya
@@GeorgeDEFINED let me know when you're in RVa!

How are you storing this on your yak?

Where do you store this while not in use?
Hey Nathan, I have a Hobie PA14 and it has a rail rack. Most use a bungee system on the side of the kayak for storage. Thanks for the comment. See ya PEACE!
You could use your paddle keeper as well.
FOR THE PRICE, MIGHT CHECK THESE OUT, BUT T STATES ITS PLASTIC COATED STEEL ROD, WONDERING IF THIS WOULD BEND IN WINDY CONDITIONS,
BUT PRICE IS GREAT
I used it for a year and half.. I never got in the yak if it was blowing more that 18 mph tho.. no problems

There is like a hundred of these videos....
Cool
They sell them without ridges
Nice..

DOES NOT HOLD UP> BREAKS VERY EASY
Well I made one for me and one for the ex-wife as we go kayaking together
