It’s bittersweet. Lived here for 20 years and it’s been a beach where I had many of my first memories. So many weddings I have been to there, just memories that you need to keep now because it’ll be all gone soon. Good because once it’s done, it’ll be something for us to enjoy for many many years to come and make new memories for those living in Cape. Sucks it’ll be many years before we recover from Ian. To all those, keep those memories close to your heart. This was a major marker in Cape Coral’s history. People don’t understand how monumental this was for many of its residents.
Nice that it 6+ months of 'Talkin' about it ...whilst everyone was on expense accounts...making money, spending Money, but, merely .. Talkin'...and guess what.....!??! Hurricane Season starts in a month....🤨😳🤔🤯😇
First off for anybody who has a negative comments about this I sell real estate in southwest Florida and code and regulations a very important aspect of living in the state of Florida so if the state is deeming them that they need to rebuild they’re probably requiring them to build 15 feet above sea level, and that’s what they have to do that for the safety and the longevity of their assets but just know the yacht club will be bigger and better.
Out with the old and in with the new. This has to happen. Cape Coral is outdated. Now, Cape Coral should think about it’s future. Stop building grocery stores and start building water parks and other things. No one likes sun splash. It’s old and outdated too. Old people have ruined Cape Coral with their old ways. It’s time to build things here that are exciting. There is a reason why it’s called Cape Coma.
@@mikeburdolski5055 I would love to but I don’t have funding. I would love to build a water park similar to volcano bay in Cape Coral but again, I don’t have that kind of money lol.
@@carolbrown4490 Maybe we need to vote all the old people out of office and put some younger people in office. I think this gives me. good idea now. Maybe I should run for mayor.
I don’t live there so I don’t have a dog in the fight. As tragic as it is after a hurricane all things rebuilt will be better. Current building code is much better than when most of that area was built I’m guessing. Much like Mexico beach up here in the panhandle Cape Coral will be better for it. I know that doesn’t ring well with folks who lost everything but it is true. I live in Fort Walton Beach and I wonder often when it’s going to happen to us. We’ve had many storms but nothing as catastrophic as some.
As a mobile event DJ I will always have great memories of all the weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, and holiday parties that I played at in both the Main Hall and the Rotino Center. Cheers to all the happy memories for many thousands of people that Cannot be torn down!!!

That lady is right saying "this is the most historical area in the Cape" and that's how you realized Cape Coral sucks big time
Taking away history? I grew up in Lee County, every one who has moved here since 1983 has ruined Lee County. Now you know how we feel, get over it.
They are doing it all over Florida, in Hialeah in Miami Dade everywhere.

Well, I hope there are no more direct hurricane hits
Its been needing an upgrade. Unfortunately it took a hurricane for them to realize that.
