  • This video will show you how to change the fluid in your 2015-2022 Chevy Colorado or GMC Canyon.
    Fluid Capacity is approx 2 Quarts. Fill it until fluid comes out of the fill hole. The torque spec for the plugs is 18 ft/lbs
    The recommended fluid is Dexron VI.
    Here is a link to Dexron VI - amzn.to/3hGuVOP

    Hi, I followed your directions and changed the transfer case, and front and rear differential fluids on his 2016 Chevy Colorado. I used AMSOIL signature ATF in the transfer case and the AMSOIL synthetic gear oil in the differentials. Your videos were excellent! All the services were very easy to perform, other than being a little messy since you have to get under the truck. I did not find it at all necessary to lift it onto stands at all, specially since I’m pretty small anyway. I do have a small torx wrench I use for bikes so I torx to 24 nm. Any lady out there can really perform these services on just about any vehicle and I would highly encourage it. You are guaranteed to know exactly what fluid went in and that it was done right. Thank you again for your excellent videos!

      You want to make sure you have enough fluid that it leaks over the fill port just a little bit. So if it didn't leak over the fill port, its probably low and you should add some.

      Fondupot's Garage you have to use the new 5w30 Dexos 2. It’s like a European diesel oil basically. And nobody carries it except like Summit racing, and maybe a few others. It’s just hard to find, and it’s pricey. You can order it now on Amazon. I’ve owned several diesels and this one is great engine and performance for what it is. Whenever I change differential and transfer case fluids I will liberally spray carb cleaner into the fill hole, till it runs out just about clear. Then leave both plugs out for a few minutes, so the residue can evaporate, then repeat once with a short spray till it runs out the drain again. Then let evaporate again for a while. Then replace the drain plug and refill with the appropriate fluid, using synthetic fluid. The transfer case and fluid should not be dirty like differential fluid can be, so it more important cleaning out the differentials. If you have a removable cover, I will always plan to remove, clean inside and out and detail the cover, or replace with finned aftermarket type.

    • @fondupot
      @fondupot  3 роки тому

      I would recommend using a fluid that does NOT have the Limited Slip modifier in it. I originally used the mobil1 with the LS modifier, and drained it out after a short period, because it was causing issues. I replaced it with the OEM GM fluid that does not have the LS modifier, and my issues went away. As for the transfer case, you can use the mobil1 ATF Fluid that I used in my transfer case video.

      John Verceles thanks for request. It will be quite some time before I would need to do this. I just had the transmission flushed as part of a service bulletin at my dealer. • @fondupot
      @fondupot  3 роки тому

      Unfortunately. I think GM removed the drain plugs late 2018. So 2019 models no longer have the drain plug. In order to drain the oil you have to open up the bolts on the differential cover. I believe all models are like this now. Z71 and ZR2 alike.
