I have the same truck but it’s a ‘73. BTW it’s still used every day as a work truck, hauling logs and wood chips. It has a 4 bbl carb and performance intake, and I put those on after seeing your vid about doing the same thing. It’s like a new truck. I have my headers on my living room floor, freshly painted and ready to go lol

Helped a friend get an 81 D100 with a Slant running a while back. Been sitting like 15 years, gas lines had goo in them, he's gotta pull the tank yet, couldn't even get compressed air through it. Crazy thing was it ran pretty good sucking gas out of bottle right from the pump. I figured the carb would need to come apart.

Great video. I just got a 1968 version of the same truck, but with a slant 6. The seller said the engine turned a few months ago when he bought it. It's not now, and I'm not sure I believe him. The truck has been sitting several years but is not a basket case..it looks like a recent-ish runner.. how long do you think the pb blaster will take to free it up?
Also , what's the chance of snapping the crank bolt off. I'm thinking of getting a spare crank pully and welding a bar to it so I can pull on that? Is that stupid? Thank you

    • @318willrun
      @318willrun  7 днів тому +1

I would let it sit 24 hrs with solution in the cylinders, like PB blaster or the likes. I'm thinking it will break loose with the bolt not breaking, unless the engine wis filled with water and is rusted completely.

Hey. I have been following your videos and specialy this series about the 318 2bbl mpg challenge. I have a 79 Winibago wich they probably swaps the engine with a 318-3. The engine is from a truck with the big compressor (not currently used) on top front. Not sure if a D, M or W but i know its a 2536030 318-3 and the year is 71' casting. It has 67' 234 (water crosses instead of exhaust) some show 66' 273ci but not all sites. I can't find the intake manifold origin's # 2658416 2bbl. And God knows i looked everywhere for small block mopar-chrysler-dodge intake casting numbers.
    I have a 76 motorhome too with a 360 2bbl and the heads castings are 3761857 and "NOT" 3671587????? I have rechecked 3 times.
Unless i have misinterpreted 3751851 later 318 heads but i dont see any look a like head swapping signs.
And yet another intake mystery code 3830249 that i cant find.
I even downloaded the mopar books PDF on parts but i can't find anything on "trucks" or "M" motorhome engines except the 318-3 is a premium "guts" and its 210hp-280fp/torque with 8.5 compression some places and mopar techs book saying 8.0. My wife is getting mad at me cause i keep on reading and searching days and nights to have the specifics infos. Im like that!
i'm a nurse and need to get to the bottom of what is going on and the science around it untill im satified. And right now i need to know if??? Theres a way to find the casting numbers. Its hard to ask anyone cause i need a gasket kit for it for when im gonna rebuild it. There is a white exhaust valve on cylinder #5 of my 71' 318 and i think its from burning oil under. So what the experts say. All mopar guys say, just use any small block kit but i can't, the 234 heads need a specific intake to head gasket for the water passage. The fel pro 8553pt12 i need is 300$ here in Canada, and i can't get it anyway. It's 2x the average cost.
Beleive it or not, the guy who sold me that 23 feet winnebago told me he got 18mpg and i was like...yeah right!!! I filled it up and drove to my place on a road full of curves, hills, 4 stops, and a construction site that i had to wait 5 min+ to move on and i got 15 mpg. I was hoping for 8..10mpg..maybe? I was stun. The bbd is a 2084 and i beleive its 285 cfm from my readings.
Anyway, thanks for helping, if you can. If not, no worries, ill find out someday, maybe? I love your contents, i know you know your stuff from what i see and ear in your contents. Keep on my friend and be safe.
Ps. The code on the small pad down on right center block as been sanded or grind cause there is nothing stamped on it. It was crucial infos, i know. Lol
    The transmission is
    pk405831"9" (not 8) 6319 1617. 405831"8" is 79 D100-200-300-400.
    V8-318 or 360.
There is no "9" in 727 specs data? But my transmission have it.
The 79' Dodge Allegro motorhome came with 360ci or 440ci according to the original motorhome specs. book i have. Or with GM engines but it's not my case. I hope you didnt fall asleep reading this message. You or your lovely wife. Hahaha
