I must say that this Amazon Echo Auto was fun after iI started driving with it in my car. The navigation used my phone screen but the voice commands worked excellent. You have to try one.

I think you will like the echoauto, read reviews and buy one here amzn.to/2XeZCBa
Hey Steve, why doesn't mine connect automatically every time I get in the car, I have to reinstall it every time I start the car.
It uses your phone connection and internet to the car not the device
@@TechSteve Yeah, it says Alex is having trouble connecting to your phone, every time I get in the car. I have to reinstall it every time.

This is the first review I saw of yours... if all of your reviews are like this, than I wont bother.. it is very disingenuous to pose as an expert and give such a lazy review. There are a lot of flaws that you left out, and didn:t really give someone an idea of the benefits for a specific individual. read the amazon reviews is your suggestion? than why use you? what just to use your affiliate link.... this is no different than those millennial *influencers* that try to think their view matters... You have every right to have your opinion, and do what you want... like ignore the fact that you a trying to pose as a tech go to...
I was today years old when I learned there were even an echo auto!!! This video has given this old lady much needed info about this device. Thanks!
You’re very welcome
Thank you Steve I am an old lady, I just got a new battery and everything was off . I love my auto echo and my sister set it up first for me. She told wait and she’ll fix it for me your explanation was so great I did myself ! I am so proud of myself thank you so much for the easy explanation!
Fantastic Mary
Thank you so much. Just bought this for my daughter. I think she'll love it. And your video will truly help her set it up!!
I love the Echo Auto, but there's a couple of points to add. I have found using an aux cable is far better than using Bluetooth. Forget the link to your radio from your phone. I guess it's because there's a complicated interactions between the phone, echo and radio - aux works far better. Second, on an iPhone the map doesn't open automatically when you ask for directions like it does on the Android. A bit of a pain. Thirdly, with any music streaming service, you can select any song or album you fancy. I have Amazon Music and it is brilliant.
Thx for answering my question although you didn't know you did. I now know if I don't have Amazon music, that I can still listen to music 🎵
@@kylehartico4926 Absolutley, there's loads of ways of listening to music - either streaming or playing from your phone.
I’ve watched a lot of these supposedly helpful equipment videos and he is absolutely superior to most of them. Thank you. I just watched your video on the echo auto and it helped me so much.
You’re welcome 👍🏽
Steve, this was a GREAT video and it really helped me to actually decide to keep the Echo Auto instead of giving it away. With The info in your video, I feel I can install and operate my new echo auto. THANK YOU
You’re welcome Sandy 🙌🏽
Brilliant review, very professional in presentation, convinced
me to buy
Thank you for the video. Mine is in the mail, should arrive tomorrow.
Did it arrive yet?
Thanks Steve for this video. Your review convinced me to buy Echo Auto this coming Prime Day, 10/13/20.
Thank you Steve. I just bought one today via your link. Great price.
Thanks 👍🏽
Great review! Classy production values. Cool presence. Very practical road sequence. Subbed!
Thanks 🙏🏽
Thank you for posting. I finally got it to work. Had trouble with audio but it finally worked.
You’re welcome
Hi tech Steve
Hi Tech Steve, thanks for the video, just a little note, in the UK, if you show the back of the hand with two fingers raised it doesn't mean peace, quite the opposite (it means "F**K O*F"), two fingers raised with the front of the hand is the peace or similar gesture.
Don't blame me it's just how it is, anyone with any sense would take it as a friendly gesture from you, just thought that I would make you aware. good luck and keep the tech videos coming.
In the USA it doesn’t mean that at all, however i changed it on newer videos
Received mine yesterday and I love it.
Great video. Explained it all very well. Maybe Xmas will come early for me. Keep up the great work.
Great review of the product. Thanks for the step by step setup process. I just ordered one at the Black Friday price and can't wait to try it since I am not happy with Siri in the car
Thanks, you will love it
Hi Anthony t
Good information. Thanks
He did a great job.
Thanks
This was a excellent well described video great review an o just got one haha
Thanks that was great!
Excellent tutorial made it easy to understand and very helpful
Thank you sir. You are a good man.
Great video
Awesome video, Tech Steve! Super helpful & informative! Thanks much! 😃👍
Thank you ..really nice video demo . Well done 👍☘️
Very helpful! Thanks!!
thank you. This was clear enough for even me to understand.
Thanks Karen
Thanks, I think this is what I want for my road trip!
Have fun!
I have couple of questions.
1: The reason I do not like to play music from my phone in my car, the notification really bothers me. So I use a secondary phone for music. What happens when SMS/Message comes? I believe Alexa bothers you by telling you about it.
2: it depends on WiFi or connects via Bluetooth to my phone?
3: can it work without phone if I have WiFi in my car?
4: what about phone calls from either Bluetooth or AUX?
I know I am late to the game but...outstanding video!
I appreciate that Joanne
Thanks
Great review, especially driving while talk)g with Alexa. Thanks
You’re welcome Ken
Good vid
Thank you for the video. I was looking for something small to use in Hotels. But, since it has to be connected to my phone and powered to the wall/battery charger or something, I'll wait for them to come out with something else. I also have their small wall plug in echo, but it needs to use the data from your phone and some places I travel I only get good data up to 4 GB and after that it diminishes. I'll just use my phone for "Alexa".
Just got one thanks for the review.
Thank you. Great review. 👍🏾
👍🏽
Sorry, you lost me when you asked about the Dallas Cowboys. LOL
Well done video.
Lol, Dem Boyz
@@TechSteve LOL. I like Zeke, only because I'm a Buckeye
Thank you for a great video....🥰
Well done, Sir!
Thanks for the video really good 👍😁❤
You’re welcome
Thank you!
Yeah I want to buy it
Hi Steve,
which Bluetooth profiles are supported by "echo auto"?
For me, the Hands-Free Profile (HFP) would be important , and not only A2DP or AVRCP.
Background information:
I’m using an Alexa integrated garage-door opener, which I would like to use with echo auto.
Most oft the time, “FM radio” is the selected input on my car radio (and not the Bluetooth media input).
In this configuration, it’s important that the Alexa’s feedback to my “open Garage” request, is sent via HFP profile, to overrule the radio (like an incoming phone-call).
Otherwise the feedback would be inaudible on the Bluetooth media input of the car radio.
I hope my question was clear…
Amazon web site does mention it, that i can find.
WOW!!! KUDOS TO YOU WITH THIS GREAT LOOKING 4K VIDEO!!! GREAT JOB! GREAT LIGHTING! GREAT BACKDROP! and thank you for a GREAT REVIEW of the Echo Auto. I just seen on Best Buy its half price so was thinking of picking up one before sale ends but THAT DANG CIGARETTE LIGHTER!! REALLY??? I HAVE Not touched a cigarette lighter in 20 years. this will be too many wires dangling. too bad ... sucks it just cant charge outside of the car or for tiny bit w/charger. oh well... thanks again for a great looking video and review!
Thanks, I’m sure you can power it with a usb cable as well
Liked and Subscribed.
Thanks , I need to set my auto echo up but was unsure how to do it
Hi Tech Steve,
Thoroughly enoyed your video on Alexa Auto. Keep up the good work and Merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas
@@TechSteve Many happy returns to you and your Steve and I hope you have a very happy new year.
Was having trouble setting mine up I did some of the steps right I'm going to try it again later and hopefully with your help that'll work I thought it would be good I thought it answered the phone for you but you didn't mention that so I don't know
You can use it for calls
Great and explaned well👍👍
@TechSteve great video so far! Did you test it to make and hang off calls? Thank you!
I didn’t try, this video is really old.
FYI....Lowe's Home Improvement stores sell these now.
Well explained - thank you!
You’re welcome 👍🏽
thank you for the video .I order
My thing is… Do I really need the echo auto? Can’t I Bluetooth my phone and use the Alexa app on my phone to do the same thing in my car?
What I wanted to see if you can use it to take and send call hands-free.
Thank you!! Good job and video
Thanks for watching 👍🏽
I'm not sure if it's because you edited the video but are you not having to say Alexa before you ask a question or can you just ask a question and it answers
Great video, thanks for uploading. I just got an echo auto and can't get it to connect to my blutooth in my car, hoping you can give me a step by step on how you did it? (Also have a BMW with the same system as in your video). I can hear my music from my phone over blutooth but when alexa tries to connect I only get the "Amazon Alexa" on my screen but no sound?>
Thank you Great Help.
Good review!
i'v had one for months and haven't used it yet.
Loved your video. Can I use Echo Auto if my car radio isn't working?
Yes, as long as you’re phone has data, it has small speakers built in.
Hello, how to do if your car does not have Bluetooth, is there a way?thank you.
Can you make phone calls and open pandora with this device on a iphone?
Would if your stereo does not have a button for AUX etc and I use a static radio station
You've just helped me noticed that my car doesn't have a cigarette lighter. This Echo device is out of the question for me.
Lol what kind of car is that?
BMW 4 Series
@@TechSteve thanks!
@@dukeviper8385 actually all my cars do have a cigarette lighter, but not the electric lighter device that you push it in and light your cigarette with it.
My car only has bluetooth for phone calls, not for music. Will the echo auto play through the car speakers? Im just not sure how it works.
@techsteve, my car does not have auxiliary input. How can I connect this to work in my car. I have only one cigarette connector, and I have a dash cam connected. Can you recommend what to use to use both.?
I don’t know how to feel about this device. It’s £50 here in the UK and, while an interesting product, I’m not sure it justifies the price tag for people who already have a new(ish) infotainment system in their car.
Love the video! Off topic question, is that a dash cam that you added to your rear view mirror or did that come with the car?
I added the mirror cam, it records with front and rear cameras.
Tech Steve could you send a link where where you purchased it?
I would like to know where you got that mirror from as well
@@TechSteve I would like to know more about the rear view mirror setup as well.
It’s just a mirror with a backup camera, there’s plenty on amazon
I use Alexa devices in my house and i love it. I think this device is redundant since it has to connect to my phone where I could directly access the app and use the bluetooth to connect to the car. Prove me wrong
It’s not for everyone it’s for people who wants to explore something besides their phone
@@TechSteve i’m not blaming anybody’s choice. I just want to see the general consensus about the redundancy of echo auto. Am I confused about the real need of this device ?
The idea is with a phone you have to open the amazon Alexa app every time to use is, with this device you simply get in your car and start using it because the Bluetooth connects automatically. My car has apple airplay and displays everything. So it wouldn’t be for someone like me but there’s people with other configurations. One of the lessons I had to learn is creating videos is I don’t make them for me they are for the people who are interested and give them information that may help their lifestyle. In your example you clicked on the video and realized that it wasn’t something you need after watching so we move on to the next one. Lol
@@TechSteve oh please don’t think i’m a hater. I, just like you, trying to shed some light on the device (you about usefulness, me about the redundancy) and maybe learn something that i might have missed or didn’t understand. That’s all. God luck to you. Keep doing what you doing 👍❤️😉
Thanks brother, BTW this is a very old video and I’ve learned more what to do and what not to do. Growing Pains of becoming a creator full time
Thanks for the drive around San Diego. PIZZA??! When you’re just a few short blocks from the original Rubio’s and fish tacos?
Lol, you’re right
Try this… Alexa :: “code zero, zero, zero, destruct, zero.”
💪🏻💪🏻 nice
Was having problem getting it fully set up, wonder because I have Sirius XM on my phone?
We have older cars. We were hoping that we could play our Playlist through our car speakers. The Echo Auto only works if you have a newer car. All of our cars don't have Bluetooth. Our cars are 15, 20 and 25 years old. Very disappointing.
Just use the aux port
Im a bit confused....cant you just do all that with the Alexa app on your phone?
But all smart phones give you all those info via via speech ie Apple siri, google etc ......... I DONT UNDERSTAND ITS USE
can you use voice command to answer incoming phone calls without touching ?
Hey there! Is there an update on about how much data it uses for certain actions? I won’t use it for music, but daily things like adding items to my grocery list, weather updates or finding that great pizza joint. Verizon gives us 2GB per month & I surely don’t need to eat that up, lol.
I wouldn’t use these types of devices with small data plans. There’s no way of knowing how much you use at any given time
When I'm at home and tell Alexa to play a certain song, can this device do the same thing? Great video!!
Yes
Works great, until it doesn't. Mine has a tendency to randomly disconnect on it's own and say it lost connection with my phone (Iphone 12) which is sitting a foot from it. Also, I have wifi built into my truck so it shouldn't be a wifi signal issue. The only solution is to pull over and go through the reset process which is kind of a pain. Just from researching online this is a common problem.
"...Bluetooth to your phone" does this mean it doesn't use any wifi (hotspot from the phone)? Hopefully this would mean it can work with Tracfone (they don't allow hotspot (yet?)).
can 2 cars share one alexa account with echo auto?
Uk piracy laws do not allow location option on Alex so, cannot have it detect arrival or leaving home routine options... so unsure will be as popular in UK and EU as in UK.
Completely understandable.
What device does the audio decoding when listening to music/internet radio? Two reasons for asking.. 1) if I'm using the auxiliary cable, am I using what I consider to be "low-quality" SBC Bluetooth audio between my phone and the Echo Auto? 2) Am I going to hear all my phone notifications through my car's speaker (not desirable in my case)?
You will hear notifications until you mute them, example iphone has a switch on the side
@@TechSteve So whilst you're listening to Internet radio through the Echo Auto, the notifications will pause the stream?
I don’t know, I never used it again after the video, these videos are for information purposes. I use apple carplay on a daily
The really sucky part is you can never ,intentionally to your radio stations if you want this to work.
Tech Steve is a cool name
Do you have to open the app on your phone every time you get in your car?
It’s a older video, I didn’t test
When Siri can't handle auto....He could ask all those same questions to Siri.
My car doesn't have Bluetooth or Aux. Can I connect it to my phone to use.
You wouldn’t need it, how about an fm modular? Here’s an example amzn.to/3sXj9UB
How about connecting it to Google maps, I want to see where the place is that I'm asking about?
Just use Google
You lost me at Dallas Cowboys. lol
Lol ⭐️
Great video and it looks good....shame they didn't make it rechargeable as I hate wires all over the place.
I understand
Just wondering, can it hook up to the car's wifi?
It works with your phone normally, sorry I didn’t test it that way
So it's not voice activated. you have to push a button to give it a command?
It’s voice activated, I showed demos at end of video
How can we change language in echo auto?
I think I’ll get one when they become battery powered
Great video. Is there any way to make a command without having to say ALEXA each time?!?
How?
