Tomorrow my 12 year old daughter will be performing a lyrical dance performance to this song for an elementary school's Veteran's Day program. She is a 2 deployment survivor and she is dancing in honor of all Veteran's separated from their family. Next time you see a Vet, young or old, Thank them for their selfless service.
THANK YOU QUEENSRYCHE. YOU HAVE TEMENDOUS CLASS. THIS IS WHY I LOVE YOU & HAVE BEEN A FAN FOREVER. I STILL HAVE MY " RAGE FOR ORDER" CONCERT T- SHIRT FROM YOUR FORT WORTH, TEXAS FROM JULY 5TH, 1986. I WAS 24. I AM 57 NOW. AMEN
My daughter did a lot of growing up while I was deployed. This song still brings tears to my eyes. To the 22: If you haven't been there, you won't understand, so kindly keep your comments to yourself.
Sir I am also one of those who watched our children grow up in pictures. I salute you Sir and THANK YOU FOR YOUR SACRIFICES YOU AND YOUR FAMILY HAVE MADE🙏 🇺🇸
Family time in a duet with your daughter in the support of the American troops cannot be more awesome. I pray God to protect all of our our soldiers and their families. Too much focus is being put on our own country with the election process but we have Dad's, Husbands, Friends, in harms way. Can we as a Country pray for them too, let them know that we still care a bit?
some of you love it some of you hate it... the thing about Queensryche is that they have always done there own thing, had there own sound they are unique in that and that is what makes them such a great but highly under-rated band. Geoff Tate has a truly beautiful voice no matter what he sings and the songs are always poetic and melodic in the true sense of the word, the first video from them i seen was take hold of the flame and I've liked damn near every song since then.
I was deployed when this came out😢. Most will never know that feeling that comes with holding that child of a Fallen Soldier or handing them The Folded Flag. That is something that sticks with you forever.
Angus McBean Shortly after 9/11 I was deployed to the desert. My son was almost 2 when I came back. He was unsure of me at first, which wasn’t easy. Though on the way home he was smiling and giggling with me. Now, both of my boys joined up and are serving. My oldest will leave next month for a year. I’ll worry but it’s in Gods hands. When you see a veteran or US soldier, thank them. It’s a high price to wear the uniform. Some soldiers spent years over seas deployed. Some never came back. To the family left behind, thank you. Don’t criticize the military. Ever. That soldier chose to be a hero. Thank you.
I don't care if Jeff Tate is a satanist/communist - as a retired military member of 26 years - this songs makes me cry everytime i hear it cause it so conveys the feeling of leaving your loved ones and maybe never seeing them again! Good on you Jeff and Queensryche!! Excellent song!
just amazing i got so much respect for out men and women who serves this country and i got alot of respect for this band always have but after this album came out (American Solder) i got so much more respect for these guys im only 15 years old but my dad is a huge fan of queensryche and this is all me and him listen to when were on the road to somewhere or just when were bored we put in a dvd of a queensryche show and watch the whole thing just a father and son thing MUCH RESPECT
Geoff Tate, young Ms. Tate, gentlemen of Queensryche, you really broke my heart with this. And I truly thank you. I was never in the service, nor have I lost anyone to duty, but . . . dang, this piece reminds us all. Thank you to the soldiers and soldiers' families in this clip and beyond.
I want to THANK our U.S. Military Armed Forces the men and the woman that are fighting for us today!!! As well as the Retired Vets. This song still makes me cry when I hear it. God Bless the men...woman...children of the U.S.A.
to whom it may concern, You must not have a heart for compassion for the human species or for mankind. Queensryche does not suck they are very professional at what they do they go above and beyond the extreme of the normal standard music theme and open up a variety of motions that calm us the human soul in such relaxation in harmony and for that moment it takes you away from all the stress and worries in life and set you free.
Very touching. I couldn't begin to comprehend what it would like to leave my children behind and go off to war. Our world is cruel but thankfully there are brave people in it to protect us.
My youngest son served in the Marines and was deployed in Afghanistan for 6 months. Never told me why or wht he did. Hearing this song for the 1st time chocked me up big time.
Thank you to Geoff, Emily Tate and Queensrÿche for this great tribute. I am not a U.S. citizen nor have I ever served and I don't have any children but that doesn't mean that I wasn't moved by the lyrics and this beautiful video. To those that served to keep my favorite country free, I want to say thank you. I love you all.
I heard this song on my 5th deployment to the sandbox. I broke because she will never understand why we went but only remember that her Dad wasn't home where she wanted him to be. To all my fellow Soldiers this is my last tour. I've fought the good fight but losing my family is not worth the world.
I'm in Korea now in army aviation. I'm here for three years away from my wife. Even though it's not a deployment I understand the distance and the heartache of not being there. I'm glad you are home safe.
Every time I come back to this I cry like a baby for my father😭❤️ he’s not gone just don’t see him as much as I’d like cuz life is difficult😩 but this always reminds me of when he and my mom spilt, I was awake and seen it all unfold and thought it was my fault cuz I woke up. It crushed my little heart watching my dad leave knowing he wasn’t coming back home🥺😭
Saw Queensryche in concert and this song was performed by Geoff and his daughter. Amazing. Not a dry eye in the house. I am the daughter and sister of veterans and proud of it. I would like to thank all the men and women who serve our country and keep us safe.
I Loved Queensryce before this album and they captured more respect than just a band after. They are honoring our service Men and Woman with this song! How could anyone thinl they are not ? They went and talked and visited with them to make this album for them to show someone cares and many do. As far as i know that is not a crime but being caring Human Beings....
when ,my wife and saw this live it brought tears to our eyes..almost everyone has friends or family in the military this song is powerful..who would mock that...just wrong to do that! grow up!
What a moving piece. Never heard of Queensryche until I followed a link from another song to here, trawled through some of their songs and landed on this one. I'll pass this on to some of my friends to have a listen.
I became a father for the first time only a few weeks before my first tour of Afghanistan. This song, this powerful and beautiful song, has been the bridge between my daughter and I through multiple combat tours since then. It's as if every deployed father had channelled all of their heartache and love into this song. Every word describes how we feel and our longing to be with our children
When you are in that sandbox you don't know the loneliness, fear, just everything you miss and it all runs together.. Welcome Home Brothers and Sisters. Thank you
This song is beautiful and has brought me to tears many times. Thank you to all of you Service Men and Women and your families, past and present, for offering yourselves to protect the rights and life that I hold so dear! It is a shame that there is political badmouthing in these comments. There should be nothing but love for the song and our Service Men and Women on this page.
My dad was a Vietnam Vet-POW.My uncle was in the Marines and I have had alot of people in my family in the military. One regret is not being physically able to join.My cousin was the youngest General in The Air Force history. He dropped the first bomb in Iraq in the first War.This is probably the best song ever written for the military....R.I.P. I go to school with Geoff Tate's daughters, and I'm friends with the one who sings in this video, she's really cool and a great singer. I'm also friends with Scott Rockenfield's nephew, who also goes to my school. Am I lucky or what? :P
I love you Broden, Brailynn, Brittany and Brenan. I love this song and it makes me cry. I have Fahr's Syndrom and am dieing. I went into remission before but it is back. I live on a low pension so I never get to see them. Love you Cheryl, my kids and my 1 grandson. they all live atleast 4 hours away and have no money for travel. Pension sucks. love all my family.
Tate spent a few years interviewing veterans from all conflicts America has been involved in from World War II to the Iraq War, including his own father[5] and collecting their stories in order to help him write the album
I was at that show and to this day as a Veteran with 28 years in service and having my son born when I was in Iraq, it still brings be to tears. Thank you Geoff for this Album.
This song means so much more when you realize it's the literal words between a man and his daughter. If your ain't been to the military or prison you honestly don't know just the facts and if you think otherwise you're weak and don't know true mental fortitude just the facts from a man who did years of solitude confinement. I understand service members in a way you never will because they did that time and they paid that cost same as a felon minus the time.......😢😅
awesum song! serve on a front line and see how much balls u have when 50cal shells fly past ur head.PFC Kay.I agree with you shank480!! It rips a family apart when that Blue suburban pulls up in the driveway and they inform the family that a loved one passed away, and see a parent drop to there knees crying so bad that they pass out on your feet...so think everyday how good you have it!
The album includes a particularly personal duet between Geoff Tate and his 10-year old daughter Emily. The song, entitled "Home Again," focuses on a father returning home to his family after having been gone an extended period. This theme reflects both the life of Tate as a touring musician and the life of one who serves in the military.[
This was one of my mom's favorite songs she absolutely loved queensrych. She passed away four years ago from cancer I never got to say goodbye. When I think of her I always turn this song on it always breaks my heart when I listen to it but it also makes me feel close to her somehow. Thank you for uploading this.
@adanfabela I for one am a Grateful American. I want to thank you for your service and all the current and past veterans. You never get the credit that you deserve and some of you came home to insults and threats, instead of hugs, love and appreciation. To those and all, welcome home, we love you. MAY GOD BLESS and KEEP YOU and those who love and support you.To those who defame the men and women who gave of themselves, some for the last measure of devotion, realize the cost of freedom of speech.
@adanfabela "We will go where ever the fight takes us, so that war is never in our own back yards" is one of the most beautifully stated messages of this kind that I have ever read and I'm a writer who has written many articles in homage to our soldiers. Thank you for the integrity of your work and for your amazing courage to defend a country and people who often don't have the intelligence (or heart for that matter) to even understand what it is to be an American.
My beautiful son Josh who I nearly lost at birth you have been so precious to me. I knew from the time you were little you would someday be where you are today. It has always been in your heart. I will forever remember the day you told me as we were coming home from school your senior year in high school. "Mom you know there are three things in my life I love more than anything. You, God and my country. You know I love you so much mom. I've decided to go to the Airforce. I'm dedicating my life to our Airforce." And as we smiled at it other my response was. "Josh I love you more than anything in this world and you know that. I always knew you would and you have my blessing" " I know you will be scared for me mom but don't be. I want you to be strong, I know you will be strong because you're my mom, the most loving and strong woman I will ever meet" The Grace of God is with you my sweet baby and Mommy is too ~ I love you💝
Connie Jones Just remember, to be strong (like He said)... I know you are! I'm proud of our Men & Women who would lay down their lives for us; for me! Thank you for raising such a beautiful young Man! Be proud & sing praises when He comes home to You... Much Love from me, a Mom too. ~ peace, Nola
I am a Navy Hospital Corpsman Veteran who served during the Gulf war, but was not able to deploy due to an injury one month prior to Sadam Hussien invading Kuwait. I was proud to serve alongside my fellow Sailors and Marines and salute all of those men and women who are now serving this great nation to protect our freedoms and fight for those in Countries who are unable to fight for themselves.
@adanfabela From one Service member/Veteran to another, thanks for your Service. I'm U.S. Army & I served in Somalia, Iraq, & Kuwait. Forget those wimpy & ungrateful idiots. Whether we be Soldiers, Marines, Sailors, Airmen, & Coast guardsmen, we have 2 things in common: 1. I will defend the Constitutions against all enemies foreign & domestic. 2. We're all Modern Day Spartans/Vikings/Templar Knights. There are many Heavy Metal bands who sing about our brave deeds.
Hold him close and tell him that you love him every chance you get🙏 You see I lost my Dad to a foe from a war of 50 odd years ago. I have followed in his path only I have went the career path with 18 months to go. I have it easier then those men and women who served in Vietnam. I get to see the family at least for a few minutes here and there on video and when I rotate out.
i dont care what ANYONE says Silent Lucidity is the best song EVER written, and this one is right behind it....this band just rocks and cant say enough about the lyrics and how meaningful they are. i got to hang out and go golf with the band back when they were on the empire tour and these guys are just so down to earth....ALL time favorite band!
Probably why Queensryche doesn't play it live anymore. LaTorre is great at hitting the high notes. But, his voice just doesn't hit the same feels on the slower songs. ❤️
I love this song. Our son is a U.S. Marine and we miss him so much but we are also so very proud of him. Thanks for posting the video. To all branches of our Armed forces be careful and we love you. Thank you.

One of the most underrated groups of all time.

~ peace, Nola
Connie Jones I really love your words.
Thank you Queensryche for the Tribute to the Troops. They truly deserve it more than anyone could ever know unless you are one of them.
This video brings me to tears every time I see it... and I am not even an American. Unfortunately I was born and raised in Maple Leaf Land.
Damn this song has me crying Semper Fi God Bless you guys for writing such a beautiful song!!!
Semper Fi, God Bless and kill everyone that is on the way of american economic interests! What men do in the name of god...
Thank godsomething from America is with us
obviously those 25 dislikes never served or knew anyone who served.
Wow... pure beauty, possibility even moreso than Silent Lucidity. Thank you guys so much for this.
i just want to thank geoff and the rest of the band for taking the time for our heros that risks theirs lives for our freedom
at 0:19 in the bottom row, third from the left is my dad, i love him dearly..
Dakota Price ....*Your Dad is Awesome, Dakota*
Brother
Hold him close and tell him that you love him every chance you get🙏 You see I lost my Dad to a foe from a war of 50 odd years ago. I have followed in his path only I have went the career path with 18 months to go. I have it easier then those men and women who served in Vietnam. I get to see the family at least for a few minutes here and there on video and when I rotate out.
Geoff and daughter Emily here are great 💓
i dont care what ANYONE says Silent Lucidity is the best song EVER written, and this one is right behind it....this band just rocks and cant say enough about the lyrics and how meaningful they are. i got to hang out and go golf with the band back when they were on the empire tour and these guys are just so down to earth....ALL time favorite band!
Now that's REAL HARDCORE POLITICS/REALITY there
Good job Tate's and Queensryche with this song, the dj.
Thank you all who have ever served and provided this blanket of freedom all of us here in America live under. Bless you and your families.
I can never listen to this without crying

+thomas bartel I know. I have to walk away to contain myself.
+Kermit The Prog & +Thomas bartel
*I feel the same way as both of you said you felt!!* *Such a beautiful song for all of our hero's*
I agree. Ive listened to it countless times and cry every time. His daughter could be my daughters twin sister.
Thank you to all the patriots who fought for our freedom !!
Awesome is all I can say. Lovely yet heartbreaking. No one could do that song more justice than Tate..
Probably why Queensryche doesn't play it live anymore. LaTorre is great at hitting the high notes. But, his voice just doesn't hit the same feels on the slower songs. ❤️
God bless you Queensryche! My God, you have made such a difference in my life since I first discovered you! Rock on & peace out everyone!
RIGHT, WE ARE VERY SPECIAL!
PROUD TO SERVE THOSE THAT SERVE!!!
14,000 thousand of these views are from me!
Soldiers love more, for they know the value of life...
I love this song. Our son is a U.S. Marine and we miss him so much but we are also so very proud of him. Thanks for posting the video. To all branches of our Armed forces be careful and we love you. Thank you.
Geoff Tate is a Patriot.
Doubt it revolution calling says a lot imo .
@@screamingindigital1980 that was a long time ago they wrote that song. Despite what many say, people do change.
@@AdamSpade he was born in Germany didn't mean to say hes calling for a revolution I know its just an album but rage for order Operation mindcrime promised land .They all seem to write about a time where we have evolved into especially OM 2 I'm American where we all don't appreciate the things we have its just on another level. Yes you can be a Patriot and write stuff like this as well as you said and I agree the words he wrote though are poetic .
@@screamingindigital1980 yeah, but it is a song which is a part of a story...
@@screamingindigital1980 just because you speak the truth doesn't mean you don't love your country. Why do so many people get confused on that issue?
Happy Veterans Day!
